What is your ONE WORD for this year? What word will drive you to be the very best for you and your organization. I personally have been using One Word for years after hearing Jon Gordon speak at University of Clemson. We have shared this with concept our organization this year and was amazed at how fats the team adopted the idea and as a team have developed several One Word for many of the individuals. Each person took the idea to heart and together will make major impact to make the team the best we can be.
Quick read but the idea is very fruitful for you as an individual as well as your organization and even your family. Take the hour to read and following the exercise and your ONE WORD will become clear to help you be your best this year and for many years to come.
The idea of choosing a word to live by is a fine idea. We all have words that consciously or unconsciously define us, that recur in our mind on a daily basis, and making an intentional choice to improve by reflecting on a positive word may be helpful. The low rating for this book is that it claims that God will reveal a word for you to focus on if you pray hard enough and it implies that your life will be better because of it. Page 40: “…ask God to reveal the word that is meant for you”. Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, for I have overcome the world”. John 16:34b God has revealed His word to us in the Holy Scripture and we ought not demand that He also make additional revelations to suit our whim of the moment. He has defeated all of our troubles and if we want to focus on what He has done, then scripture itself should be our focus. Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ shall come again. I believe the authors are well intentioned, but this prosperity gospel error is deceptive.

Going into this, I thought I knew what my one word would be, but then I realized I needed to approach it differently so at the time of this review I haven’t listened for my word, but looking forward for it to come to me. I also like the idea of going after a new word each year and never repeating a word.
I do want to preface if you’re not a religious type, you might have to approach your one word a little differently and I personally think that’s okay!
