The Savage Heirs #2

Daughter of Deception

Rate this book
Our enemies are everywhere…
…and we can’t see them.

The Brotherhood has us in their sights. In their scope.

The attacks are coming from everywhere and nowhere from a seemingly invisible enemy. But they won’t be invisible for long.

When we discover how the Brotherhood manages to stay five steps ahead, it’s up to me to find and stop the traitor.
The only problem is it requires me to revisit a place I swore I’d never go: my past.

The battle for the city we love is heating up. The Brotherhood challenges the Merchants’ right to rule, and Genny and the Savage Princes don’t give a f*ck.

Cinco is theirs and they’ll fight to the death to protect it.

And me… well, I just might be their secret weapon.

The Savage Heirs and the Blaine sisters are at it again and this time, things are even crazier than before.

After being kidnapped at the end of Son of Saint, Mackenzie is determined to help the Savage Heirs in their quest to take down the Brotherhood. She doesn’t want to be a pawn in the game or the weakest link anymore, so she starts training with Bane and Liam and uses her fashion design skills to infiltrate Caddell House again to gain intel. In this book, Mackenzie and Genny start to form a closer bond and an unexpected friendship but Genny’s keeping secrets from not only Mackenzie but her brothers as well that may be their downfall in the end.

This story is full of mystery and intrigue with tons of plot lines, characters, gang politics and Savage Heir violence to keep straight. I was a little confused at the beginning as I struggled to keep all the players straight, but once I got into it, this was a quick read. I feel like I tore through the pages trying to figure out some of the mysteries setup for us before the characters themselves put the pieces together.

I felt like there were some missing pieces in this book, especially after the first in the series spent so much time establishing a relationship between Mackenzie and Sunny and even Mackenzie and Liam to an extent. In this one, relationships develop quickly between Mackenzie and both Bane and River and I felt like I missed something - they came together quickly and then weren’t really fleshed out at all in the rest of the book. I know there’s still more books in this series, so I’m hoping we get more about both guys soon.

Reader beware: This book ends in a cliffhanger. Things are on shaky ground for the Savage Heirs and the Blaine sisters and I can’t wait to see where King of Cruelty (book 3) will take us!

Ruby Vincent has a knack for words, with ultimately delivering a complex tangled web storyline that is Daughter of Deception.
It’s so damn good that you will be yelling DAMN before being left speechless by the very end!

4.5 ⭐️

The second book from Ruby Vincent’s The Savage Heirs series is here with Daughter of Deception picking right off from the cliffhanger ending in Son of Saint.

Just when you thought The Savage Heirs series storyline couldn’t get any more complex, Ruby Vincent proves you wrong.
Continuing to weave the intricately tangled web that began in Son of Saint, Daughter of Deception has you falling down the never ending abyss that is the lives of Mackenzie, Sunny, Liam, Bane, Genny and Sienna yet again with the continuation of their story.
Devouring you whole and wholly, with this all consuming real page turner that the narrative led you through.

Once again the story continued to deliver a jam packed storyline that was full of mystery, considering the many secrets that were still alluded too. Having you full of intrigue and wonder with where the adventure would take you, considering the many questions that were constantly popping up along the way.
As the story further progressed, the more you felt yourself hurtling down a big, long and deep rollercoaster drop at times. However not before the many loops, twists and turns that had to be navigated through first. Especially given the many mysteries that continued to develop, causing you to demolish each and every page that much faster in hopes of getting the answers needed. To help complete the puzzle that wouldn't stop expanding with time.
All making for a suspenseful, yet exciting path that led to a lot of drama and action packed thrills. Whilst intent on ensuring you felt the emotions and feelings that Mackenzie, Sunny, Liam, Bane, Genny and Sienna were facing and dealing with. Considering the intensity of the tension that came about from the angsty-ness and emotional turmoil within the hard hitting and impactful moments. Ultimately tugging on your heart strings at times, given how it made you feel.

Whilst Son of Saint introduced the start of relationships beginning to be formed between Mackenzie and each of the guys consisting of Sunny, Liam, Bane and River.
Daughter of Deception allowed those relationships to be further developed, giving us more of an inside look to the progression being made with building upon the connection they shared. Helping to move ahead in their relations. Especially in the case of Mackenzie and Liam, Mackenzie and Bane and Mackenzie and River, seeing as they had been up in the air by the end of Son of Saint. Unlike Mackenzie and Sunny, who had established their relationship back in the first book.
Aside from those relationships, Ruby also showcased the development between Mackenzie and Genny when it came to their friendship. Having them bond more, given how they are put into situations they lead them having to work together to help one another out.

While the ending to Daughter of Deception was different than the usual cliffhangers Ruby delivers, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t still surprising as per usual. Leaving you even more invested with waiting in anticipation for what Ruby Vincent will deliver in the next book King of Cruelty from The Savage Heirs series.

This is the most intricate series that I have ever read from Ruby. Mysteries, secrets, turn of events, a storyline so thrilling that you can't predict- this kinda summed up this magnificent book.
I love Ruby’s smart writing, not only the story is fascinating but the dialogue is alluring...reading this was a delight.
The relationships are evolving. Kenzie already has Sunny’s love and adoration but in Daughter of Deception she gets closer with Liam, Bane, and surprisingly River, who I never imagined would become such an important part of her life. Not to forget the fantastic friendship with Genny, that is BFF material.

But Kenzie is also a changed person. The events that ended Son of Saint shifted something in her and she becomes more determined and driven to protect Laurel and the ones she loves. I like her a whole lot.

This was a wild roller coaster, with so many ups and downs, crazy twists, and turns, packed with adrenaline and anxiety…just the way I was hoping it will be.

We didn’t get a “ straight from hell” cliffhanger but that puzzling ending left me speechless and longing for so much more. Can’t wait to see what Ruby has in store for us with Kings of Cruelty.

Savage Heirs 2

Goodness gracious what a tangled web of scum, deceit this book is. You do get the originals back in, now middle aged. The guys continue to underestimate our gal and their sister, I’m absolutely surprised that they didn’t run by the plan with mom lol. Definitely was a good book and can’t wait to see what happens next!

the magic of a tampon 😏

Daughter of Deception is book six in the series Saint and Sinners by author Ruby Vincent. Ok so this one is a rollercoaster of a ride. Your emotions will be all over the place. You’ll finally met the bad guy and he’s a dick.
Anywho, everyone with a beef with the Merchants is coming out of the woodwork and they are going down.
Enjoy!!

1000/10

This series is just as phenomenal as the parent series although you do not have to read them to enjoy The Savage Heirs. Single mother, homelessness, mafia underground and strong loveable side characters. Can't wait for the next. I'm ready for revenge to come

Cannot wait for the next book

*Spoilers*
DoD was an awesome follow up to SoS and it really showed the growth of Kenzie, the guys (Sunny, Liam, Bane, & River), and Sienna too. I love seeing Kenzie’s relationships build with each of the guys as they start lowering their walls. I love being able to read from the different perspectives, it really draws you in more. Lots of Genny & Liam was fabulous, but I need more Bane & maybe River & always Sunny. I’m still puzzled about what the deal is with Lyla and I was definitely off on my thoughts about the CH bad guy. I’m nervous to see what’s going to happen with the Brotherhood now.
I adored seeing Addy & her guys and their interactions with the family. It’s always something special when you find a great world where the stories take you through generations.
I wish King of Cruelty was available for preorder already because it would already be ordered!

Yes, that would be one thing that no one would take at all. Lol, It was so funny as well. I want book 3 to come out now. Please and thank you. It needs to be out soon. I'm still having a small hang-up with two things one is the age gap but I'm working on it. Other is Rivers dates and it isn't due to him being a black male either. It's just that he's the uncle to the other three and it is very disgusting to read it.
I'm not going to be sorry for it either. I do hope the family would be able to connect more as well.
Second time reading it in two days.

Wanting a list

It's been a great bit of time since I read The Son of Saint. It took me a while to get into the Sinners and Saints series. So when I did, there was no stopping me. I kind of feel I'm missing some of the dynamic of Mackenzie and the men.

I still found this book exciting and the mystery of the group behind the attacks. I am eager for the outcome of the Merchants.

I wished there was a list of all the children of the Red grave clan

Full of all kinds of action!

A lot happened in Daughter of Deception, we learn a lot about a lot! I can't wait to find out what happens next! Also ready to find out wtf Lyla's deal is with McKenzie! If it comes out that they are sisters and she's just pissed because their dad was part of McKenzie's life I'm going to scream!

Not bad

Not a bad story. The Mc is annoying in the whole I won't kill the guy who is killing and other monstrous things. Or leave your gun in the car while we go talk to someone who may want us dead. It's stupid. But other then that it's okay

Book 2 of 2 my ass. I knew that there was NO possible way this series could only have 2 books. YET as of today Amazon shows it as books 1 of 2 and 2 of 2. Nope, no way. There is SOOO much action in this series I couldn't put it down. I was too excited at the end to see the third book King of Cruelty is in the works.

While this series is a romance focusing on Kenzie, River, Bane, Sunny, and Liam; it is also an organized crime story. Like the parent series the action, manipulation, and danger are heavy within the storyline. We get a lot more background into the childhoods of the Savage Heirs and see how being raised by Adeline and her men shaped them. We also get answers as to why the 4 choose a life of crime while their other 2 siblings are proof that they could have been law abiding civilians.

I really feel like Kenzie, Sienna, and Gen owned this book. Usually in reverse harems there is focus on the bromance but with the guys all being related, there is already a pre-existing love and devotion to one another so there was no need for the author to focus on that. Instead, we get the girls and their developing sisterhood and strong bonds and character growth. Not just the women but the littles. Tricky and Tooty Booty are very present, and I love that too.

Adaline and her men make an appearance and I love that she's described as 60 but Angela Bassett 60 and all her men are silver foxes. YAAASSS I've seen some pretty hot seniors on tik tok so I do not doubt this description for one second.

Family is a strong focus in this story as well. I can't wait for the next book and hope that this series actually as 4 or 5 books as the Brotherhood storyline as well as River and Lyla's character roles are a lot to be analyzed and I don't want anything to be rushed.

I just can’t get enough of Ruby Vincent’s characters and storytelling—she’s done it again with Book #2!

This installment brings fantastic character development, especially for Kenzie and Sienna, who continue to shine in their own ways. And River—getting a glimpse into his background adds so much depth and makes it easier to understand (and even appreciate) his flaws.

I’m completely hooked and can’t wait to dive into Book #3!
