Silver Mountain #2

Knocking up his Nanny

Rate this book
Everyone teasingly calls me a nun. But being a good girl has gotten me nowhere. It’s time to be bold and take risks. Live my life, and kiss a handsome stranger…

I’ve spent years as a dirt-broke, starving artist. When my mom's hospital bills start piling up, I take every odd job I can find in Silver Mountain. Eventually that leads to a nanny position at the biggest mansion in town. The kids are cute as stuffed animals. The pay is great, and my luck seems to be improving.

Only one problem: their dad might be the mysterious, sexy stranger I've been making out with in a hospital broom closet. Oops.

Mysterious, Sexy Stranger

Hiring June was a bad idea.

She's sweet as apple pie, always smiling in her polka dots. She makes my heart warm, and makes my little demon children behave like perfect angels. I have never seen them so happy.
I know I should be professional, but I can't keep my hands off her.
She has no idea that my secret plan is to make her more than just their nanny...

I want her to be their mother.

A small-town romantic comedy with a single dad, accidental baby, and guaranteed HEA!
Sweet and steamy, over the top, billionaire hero, and lots of laughs.

This book was hilarious! I mean it. But it also sexy and light and oh-so-fun.

One, the plot was OTT meet-cute funny. Second, the MCs were a treat. Third, there was an unexpected fun twist and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Couldn't put it down the whole ride.
description

Okay, the plot. It was started with the greatest meet-cute of 2022. I meaann..... yeah I know it's just the beginning of the year, and there would be still lots of books to cover. But come on, could you beat when H met h when she was trying to reach for Cheetos on vending but also accidentally flash him her sparkly undies. Yep. Undies that she made by herself. It was a side gig, making sparkly sassy undies for drag queens. You know it. The undies said "shake it like polaroid" FYI. And she handled it like a champ. They ended up having a very first date in the doctor's office (he's not a doctor) completed with disco ball, table hockey, and pinball machine. Talking about a down-low date but a cool one too.
description

Then, she was becoming the nanny for his kids, not knowing that the H was the father. Not knowing that the kids was her students when she accepted the job. So when she met the kids, she was excited. And even more when knowing that the dad was this charming mysterious guy who swoop her off her feet. But then trouble came, and she decided to throw caution to the wind.

How could you not like the plot? It was fun. Lots of turns. Kept you guarded and caught you unexpected, but in a fun way. And even when the time when it's mattered the most, it still presented with hilarity and sway of romance. Plus, other characters made a significant play in it; how the family matters for the overall plot; how it also complete the MCs background story.

So the next was the characters. I was so in love with the h. I had to say it first. The h was like a hero to my fragile heart. I mean it. She was the epiphany of someone who sees everything half-glass-full. Literally. All of her life, which was a tragedy actually, she saw it through positivity and even a bit comedic way actually. She was not only strong and independent but also have a warm heart with all the love and care she provided for everyone around her. See, my hero. I liked a kick-ass heroine.

It was a good read. It's fun, light, and had incredible heroine. You go, girl!

It's just fun. I can't really describe this book as anything but an absolute blast. This is the kind of story that puts a smile on your face and keeps you smiling. Every twist and turn just kept the pages turning and made me excited for more. And the references to a classic are so well done. It's just absolutely fun.

Wow so much stupid

The start was good. Cute and a little trashy but not too bad. Then it just started to make less sense and become dumber. Til it was completely irrational to the point of stupidity. Just dump the whole thing in the garbage and call it a day.

OMG still laughing my ass off over the one liners ..... Seriously .. the author should start a business just like June's :)

Needless to say, this book was FUNNY. The romance was cute and steamy at times .... and the story was really heartwarming.

Now I have to go read the first one! I'll be following this author!

I literally TORE through this book! Could NOT stop reading! AND I have tons of things to do! LOL

When I saw that the second book in the Silver Mountain series was out, I HAD to get it! Olivia Noble's writing is ADORABLE! And she definitely did not disappoint.

June has had a rough life, sitting with her mom while she has chemo makes it even tougher. Her new job as a nanny to some amazing little girls... and the steamy times with the mysterious gorgeous stranger... add just the spice she needs.

A twist .... you don't expect. TONS of laugh-out-loud moments. Olivia Noble is SO awesome with the hilarious one-liners.... romance, steam, and laughs? Who could ask for more in a romance novel?

PLEASE GIVE US MORE!!!!!!!

Thank goodness it was short

Don't waste your time with this story, if you can call it that. Horrible storyline, skim read after 33%. Should have stopped after couples 1st interaction but wanted to give benefit of the doubt.

Ok

An OK book. Why would a supposedly smart man buy an electric car, that's buying high prices problems and why wouldn't you ask your fiance about a woman showing up claiming to be your fiances wife? A book should be mostly realistic.

Beyond Ridiculous

This author is 0-2 for me. This story is just too silly to be enjoyable. The author skims over plot points in her rush to get to the HEA, and it's almost embarrassing. The characters' names aren't cutesy, and the drama is simply unbelievable - like it was shoved into the story as an afterthought.

Juniper was adopted, as were her sisters, by the kindest elderly woman in all, of Silver Mountain. She ran an inn, and Juni then knew what happiness was, and chose to live it every day. However, she’s an adult now, and her loving mother is fighting cancer. Juniper is the one who brings her to her treatments. She sits and watches as the tube is connected to the needle, that fills her mom’s veins. The liquid gold. NO! The poison called chemo. It’s saving her mom’s life, no it's hurting her. This is indeed killing, Juni every single time, having to watch. and it's costing the family a fortune.

Mumsy, her mom starts asking her about boys. Why she wasn't dating and having fun? She would argue she is nothing like a nun, she tells them, all. Her favorite movie is The Sound of Music. She did consider becoming a nun once or twice after she got her heart broken and watched her sisters’ hearts get smashe, too. Sometimes, I wouldn’t mind retiring from the dating scene, hanging up my heels, and putting on a habit. Not, yet.

When Juni’s bag of, Cheetos get stuck in the machine and she was bent over, butt in the air, and her arm up in it, yelling. When a gorgeous man comes up to help. Telling him the machine needs to be handled with a special touch. And, boom he gets her, Cheetos. Then he said he had a question, he looked down at her with one eyebrow up, a small grin, and said, “Shake it like a Polaroid picture?” Everything stops when she gains her composure, Juni tells him she works creating fashion, and she makes specialty lingerie. She’s testing out the fit and comfort. He wants to know if it's comfortable. He then remarks about so many sequins on a woman’s a$$.

A little small talk and the next thing you know, she is asking him to go out with her, so she can tell her mom a real story. Maybe, the two of them, over to have chocolate milk. Making him laugh because she already got upset for saying, he first thought she was a kindergarten teacher or a nun, until the underwear. This book keeps you on your toes. It was a good romance however, it felt very disjointed. It had a lot of busyness to absorb the grandma, the ID of the man, her new job, them as a couple, becoming a nun, and back again.

This is an OK romance, but I did have a few issues with it. It gets 3 stars from me.

First off, I know that romances are usually unrealistic, but this one was just over the top. The romance between Spruce and June was just too fast, and they fell in love way too quickly to believe. It seemed to me that they were more in lust than in love.

June was a bit of an airhead, believing the stories his ex told her so easily. She didn't even bother to find out if they were true. Then deciding that she had to be a nun, since she obviously couldn't manage a relationship -- that was ridiculous.

Both of them were ridiculous in not using any kind of protection when they had sex. They barely knew each other, so how did they think they were ready to be parents together?

Spruce (and that name is just weird) should have told June that he hadn't actually ever divorced his wife, and that he assumed she was dead. Then she wouldn't have been so shocked when the woman showed up, claiming to still be married to him. He also should have divorced her years before, right after she abandoned him and their daughters.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

This is a ridiculous book with a ridiculous title. But it had a surprisingly high Goodreads rating, and so I gave the audiobook a try when it went on sale.

The first problem for most people will be the childlike voice of the female narrator, Naomi Noble. She's the voice of June, a struggling artist who had a horrific childhood, and who is trying to support her adoptive mother as she fights cancer. June has a childlike sensibility, and for a few minutes, I thought the voice might actually match the character. But her narration is both a bit weird and painfully slow. I switched it to 1.5x just to get a more normal pace.

In fairness, there's a somewhat charming Cinderella storyline (without the evil stepsisters) that is presented with the hidden identity flipped. And there are actually some tender moments and a real connection June and her Mystery Man. I even laughed out loud several times.

But the story is just too ridiculous, especially as it relates to the title, the "conflict" that bursts June's bubble, and her reaction to it.

And you'd think the Mysterious Father of the girls would have had better security, especially given all the effort he put into being "Mysterious." You'd be wrong.

The limited options that June lays out for herself (e.g., a drag stripper at the North Pole) are also ridiculous.

I suppose it might be worth a listen if it's sped up given how short that makes the audiobook. But only for those looking for something light and silly.

Juniper, or June, is adopted, along with her sisters. She has been taking their mom back and forth to chemo for a while. They own an inn but she is in desperate need of money to help pay all the bills. She has no dating or social life. When trying to retrieve a bag of Cheetos from the vending machine, she meets the strangest and sweetest man. They do not exchange names or any other important information. They are content with just being with one another and promise to find one another again in the future. She also gets a job nannying for two girls that used to come to the daycare she worked for and her money issues have been settled. What will happen when the man she has been seeing reveals himself to her? What happens when his past comes to confront her and drives her to be a nun? A pregnant nun at that? This is a charming little fast paced story about when you really believe hard enough good things can happen!

2.5 stars

Overall, I enjoyed the story but wasn’t the biggest fan of the drama at the end with the characters. Spoilers ahead! The fact, some woman she had never met before shows up in the house, claiming to be his wife when she’s been staying at the house for weeks and the twins, nor any of the staff have ever mentioned his wife. I understand leaving since the person seemed unhinged, but that she didn’t try to call him. She didn’t try to confirm anything at all. I also was not a huge fan of the fact she joined the Nunnery at the end. I was ok with the joke throughout the story that she could just join the Nunnery because her love life wasn’t working out well, but was not a fan that she actually did.

Oh my goodness, this was so good. A great quick read with all the feels. If you want a book that makes you swoon, gives you the giggles at their antics and then some at the authors sense of humour, then this is the book for you. But be warned, you will giggle or laugh at the humour contained so be sure to read where you don’t get funny looks, oh hell, who cares, as long as you enjoy it. Am I right 😉
Olivia Noble is a new to me author but I sure will be checking out her other books, and you will too if you enjoy this book as much as I did.

More like a 2.5 rating. The plot sounded cute, and it started out that way but the further I read the more convoluted it became that it seemed more like the plot of a soap opera. The story was also rushed. I didn't realize when I first bought the book (thankfully for only $2.99) that the story was less than 150 pages long. If I had I probably would have skipped it. I have four other books from this author that I got either for free or less than a dollar; however, I'm now extremely reluctant to give them a shot.

This is technically the second book in the series, but it is the third book I read. It felt somewhat rushed at the end and the ex-wife seemed thrown in last minute in the last two chapters, however, I would read this book again and recommend it to readers who enjoy spice and quick reads. As for my ratings, the reason the book is a three star read for me: relatability and personal impact were one star, writing style was three and a half stars, originality and plot were four stars, lastly, spice and readability were five stars.

First of all I do Audible books. And I'm sorry but the narrator's voices are a big turn off for me. She sounds like she should be reading for an Elf character and he has maybe a lisp? I'm not quite sure but it's a bit annoying. After the first 2 chapters I wanted to just stop and go on to another book but since it's a short book I thought I would trudge on hoping for hot and steamy but that didn't really come. Disappointed and won't be listening to to either of these narrators again. And don't think I'll listen to any of the other books in this series.

This is my first read from this author so it was a little surprising and a bit different to what I'm used to, but a delightful story indeed .... loved the twist the story took from the very unusual but meet cute of the main characters Spruce and Juniper ..lol...strange names of trees and rich secret dynasties to secret cravings for love and stability which she seeks to find in a nunnery ...this story is to say the least hilarious to a point, but the happy ever after makes up for all the quirks and idiosyncrasies of our June Bug .... the babies steal the heart of this story and makes it OK.

Great book!!

This was a really great book. You have some laugh out loud moments and some very sexy moments. You have a beautiful woman who meets a handsome man while she is at the hospital with her mom who is getting chemotherapy. They hit it off right away. Then he hires her as his nanny to his two beautiful twin daughters who already love her because she helped at the daycare where they were. Beautiful funny love story!!!

The story was just okay, but not really worth the time. The children were written well but the rest just was.

Then there was the narration. The man sounded like his wife asked him to read a script and he has zero want to do it nor any acting ability. The female, who may be related to the author sounded like a grown woman trying to ddlg role play. It was horrific.

Not a fan, at least it was short.

Quick, Sweet and Spicy Read

Knocking up his Nanny, written by Olivia Noble , is the second book in the Silver Mountain series. This book was such a fun, fast paced read. The story has loveable characters, cute banter, sweet and spicy moments, family and love. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Very short

Little character and plot development. Somewhat odd meeting and s*x quickly before they know names. In male H thoughts we find he liked her just from seeing her at his kids school. The female h needs to work but is talking temp, nanny gigs. I had to suspend reality to get through it. Editing is good.

This is a tongue-in-cheek book set in a cartoonish sitcom world. It revels in romance clichés without any pretense of realism (except for a badly handled cancer subplot).

But still. The main character is so immature and… well, dumb, that I was getting seriously concerned about her capacity to consent.

The whole thing feels like it was written by a teenager.

This book was funny. I wanted to give it a 5 stars but I just couldn't. It was way to short. I'm ok with the insta love but I would have loved it if there was more story to it like the kids pulling the pranks or more with June.
