Okay so this is way overhyped and for what ? I couldn't even finish it like c'mon why is it even a book now ? The grammar is way beyond awful , when the author can't distinguish the difference between "than" and "then" it's concerning ( English ain't even my mother tongue ) . And the MC Aven oh god I never hated a girl in my life this bad . I can't get the green shoes out of my mind . The whole vibes of this fic are a no for me , thanks .

➯ This was an amazing story. I was so interested at the beginning but then, the long chapters became a little unbearable. I gotta say the plot twists were interesting and well planned. I love the characters even though I don't imagine them as 1D yeah... it didn't felt right😭

Fanfiction. On Wattpad. I can't believe I ended up reading this, but it was pretty good? It made me feel things, for Harry and Aven --- a lot of the time it got heavy on material concerning mental illness and sexual things. Ohhh and the characters were very well developed and the plot was surprisingly, very creative. Anyhow, yes I really enjoyed the fanfic but I had issues with it:

-it was too.fucking.long. Which is disappointing in this case. In some cases, I love when a book is super long because I don't want it to end, but with this one...it dragged a lot. And a lot of times I found myself skimming through paragraphs. It was pointlessly long that I DNF'ed it at the 90% mark and didn't finish the whole fanfic cuz I just didn't care anymore. (it has around 94 chapters I believe and I stopped at chapter 84, and I don't plan on finishing it)
-The pace worked with me at first because Duplicity was a mystery as was Harry Styles and it was angsty because you were waiting for Harry and Aven to get together, but he was also kind of sociopathic. After the 50 % mark, the author is just adding random things to keep it interesting. Like Niall being stabbed and the guy with the skeleton mask --- Quincy, was it? And random stuff. Ugh, no. The plot went downhill.
- Maybe I was the only person that found it super strange at the amount of sex they indulged in. I like sex in books, but moderately, steamy and concise. (And I dig the beautiful and passionate intimate scenes as opposed to more erotic). Anyway, the sex scenes in this book were...unnecessarily descriptive. A whole fucking chapter on them thrusting into each other?? No thanks. Why not make it short? Also, me being that one person who is a hopeless romantic, there isn't any romance between Harry and Aven. There's just sex, secrets, moments of weakness, and shameless sexy flirting.
-I hated that one chapter I loved Harry and the next I wanted to kill the dude...my brain was going on a complicated train ride with this guy

Listen, it’s not even finished but this book is a master piece. It gets so much hate for being a Harry Styles ff, or that it’s overhyped. In my opinion it’s not. Julez articulated toxicity, love and suspense beautifully. It’s a messed up fairytale. I could stop reading the book for months, years even, but I would still remember every single detail. It has a (Cupid’s) chokehold on me. Harry and Avens characters are not perfect, that’s what makes me fall deeply in love with them every chapter, more than the last. The characters are relatable to myself in ways I would of never expected. This will forever be my favourite read, Wattpad or real book. Wattpad creators get so much hate in the reading community. They create beautiful creations of work that are dismissed as they “aren’t real writers,” or “why are they posting on a website/app”. Wattpad writers are real writers. Julez’ work is just an example of such that blew up and she deserves it.


Update: 8/1/22

So, it took me two years to read. This is the best book imaginable. I was screaming at the last chapter. Aven and Harry brought me so much comfort. Best book characters ever. Their story is so heartwarming and heartbreaking. I love this book so much. I have re read it 3 times in total aside from the final 10 chapters as it was an ongoing book, but I know I will always come back to it and re read it.

The suspense, the romance, the tension 😏
There were times I felt like throwing my phone across the room and cry,(I did once 🤫😅), I screamed too..
The ending was too sudden..
And that mystery character😭
That had me screaming 😱
Can't wait to read Complicity!
