Kevin Lane was a hard working and high earning young man, with a promising future ahead of him. Kevin was an accomplished boxer and gym fighter and went on to own his own security company in the late 80's. Kevin had two young children and was with his childhood sweetheart of 12 years. Little did he know, that in a few years, his whole life would come crashing down. In January 1994 Robert Magill was murdered by a contracted killer. Within hours of the murder, multiple and abundant police tip offs named Rodger Vincent and David Smith as the prime suspects. However in January 1995, Kevin was shockingly and alarmingly arrested for the 1994 contract killing of Robert Magill. After a second trial in 1996, Kevin was convicted, by a ten to two majority jury, on circumstantial evidence, at the infamous Court 2, of the Old Bailey. 24 hour armed protection police officers were attached to the judge and each jury member for both trials. Depicting the theatrical tactics used to influence the jury against kevin. Propaganda media was used against Kevin labelling him The UK's number 1 contract Killer. Articles stated he charged £100,000 per hit. This information is believed to be derived from police sources to influence the very weak case that was alleged against him. The police used every tactic and strings to their bow, that they could to manipulate the case against Kevin. Evidence that took the case in another direction was withheld, as well as evidence being fabricated, manipulated and forged against Kevin. Not withstanding the original leading suspect in the murder trial, Rodger Vincent, engaged in 'off the record' confidential chats, with Detective Spackman. These confidential chats resulted in the case being redirected solely on Kevin, and 'super grass' Rodger Vincent being acquitted, with all evidence related to him, not being put before the jury. Consequently Fleet Street journalists began to pick up and question the conviction. The leading investigating Police Officer Detective Inspector Christopher Spackman was arrested and sent to prison in 2003. It was reported by the sentencing judge, Spackman conducted complicated deceptions within a police environment. Kevin has spent over 20 years in prison, tirelessly and relentlessly fighting to get his conviction overturned. He is considered the UK Mr Shawshank having wrote over 10,000 letters to bring awareness to his wrongful plight. Kevin Lane has spent 25 years working on his debut book "Fitted Up and Fighting Back.'' which is considered to be the U.K's next best seller, by many journalists including the renowned Duncan Campbell. There has been interest by many film producers to make the book into a feature film. This is the gritty, true story, of one mans fight to prove his innocence...

Having always been very intrigued about the murder of Bob Magill and the unusual details surrounding it (what with it being a local crime and clouded in controversy) I was naturally very keen to read Kevin lanes side of the story.
Having watched his podcast with James English, where he came across a very intelligent and successful guy, I contacted him through social media to try and purchase his book, and was thrilled when he swiftly responded and then sent me a personalised signed copy, what an absolute gent.
This book is a must read, giving you a first hand account of how the case was handled by Herts police, and goes into great detail on the crime itself and the people that were involved. You will be amazed at the behaviour of a some of the detectives in charge of the case, and you will be left shocked at the treatment Kevin received in the various prisons he wrongly spent his years in, but then hugely admire the way he has dealt with this and his injustice over over the years.
I couldn’t put this book down, it was a very enjoyable read, educational, funny, gritty, and above all, very eye opening. An absolute must read for anyone interested in true crime, grit, violence, hitmen, prison life and bent coppers. 5 stars for me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just finished this unbelievable book.
What a strong man Kevin is to have endured this disgusting miscarriage of justice.
It’s totally unbelievable that he served that amount of time for a crime he so obviously didn’t commit.
How these people got away with it is beyond belief.
A truly upsetting book that made me cry for Kevin and his life that got totally taken away.
A must read for everyone. It makes you think of how many other poor souls are incarcerated for crimes they didn’t commit.
Definitely recommend.

Disgusting the way Lane has been treated by a corruption legal system. Chris Spackman a corrupt police officer who was sent to prison for theft and dishonesty has ruined Lane's life by tampering with evidence, creating false alibis for the real perpetrators and fitting Kevin uo for a crime he didn't commit.

It breaks your heart reading and seeing how many inconsistencies there were I'm Kevin's trial, the evidence was laughable and I'm in no doubt Lane is innocent of this terrible crime.

great book! amazing man

Your don’t pretend to be a saint! But you never deserved the sentence you got for a crime you never done!! Some man who survives that, smiles, defies logic and is still humble! May you find the freedom you deserve without the “life” hanging round your neck ❤️

Superb, great read, I as an ex officer believe this book is the truth word for word... In my opinion it's a gross miscarriages of justice, let's not forget the police inspector spapkman involved in this caSe was jailed for four years for stealing off he's own police force.

Prickly Reading

A few innacuracies, but a worthwhile read. The question begs was he there? Many questions need answering. Not sure the complete truth will ever be unearthed!

Never believed Kevin was guilty a true gent with old school values ... can’t believe this evidence has not given him his pardon and apology ! Had a brief catch up last year at a friends funeral and he still hasn’t become cold enough to kill ! A lesser man would
