Christopher James is a senior legal and tax auditor for the United States Treasury Department, and it’s his job to sift through the muck to make sure that the wealthy and corporations pay their fair share. So he’s used to butting heads with the powerful and discovering all their hidden financial secrets, but while going through the books of NW Micro Solutions he will find something he never thought he’d treason. Why is a computer chip manufacturer illegally selling parts to the Iranians? Are they just a tool for something larger? To what ends? Will they kill to hide the answers?
The story was okay. The adjectives drove me nuts! "The brilliant woman," "the gorgeous woman," and on and on ... On each and every page, often more than once. Not necessary. Annoying and very distracting. I'd be interested to know why the author felt compelled to do this.
Interesting story but a amateur narrative . I enjoyed the mob lawyer books. But the female descriptions and the constant " brilliant coworker" , *beautiful blonde" and the hundred descriptives like that were grating I may not read the next book.
I thought this book would be interesting since I am an accountant. Instead it was ridiculous and just an escapade in cat and mouse chasing. I don't think that I'll suffer through book 2.
To believe the plot, one would have to accept that ex- senators and generals, the managers in the IRS, local law enforcement and the CIA are all corrupt and in collusion. Other than that, the story line is interesting.
The writing needs a good editor. The author is able to intersperse dialog into his writing but has an affectation of constantly describing the female character as a brilliant woman, an outdoorsy woman, a kind woman, a confident woman, an irritated woman, and a plethora of other descriptors, ad infinitum. Even when such descriptions are not needed and unnecessary to move the plot along. After a few chapters, it seemed that every paragraph had such phrases. It distracted me from what, otherwise, would have been good dialog and descriptive writing.
Good story line, good plot, good speed, enough intrigue, page turner, BUT the author has an annoying gross overuse of adjectives particularly when referring to Amanda. If I read this in paperback I would have highlighted all the excessive descriptors: brilliant woman - probably 50 times, beautiful woman ~~~~>20+ times, gorgeous woman, frustrated woman etc etc etc was there an editor that actually bread the book through before publishing? I read a lot and have never in my 55 years of reading ever been attacked by such repetitive word use.
The writing style makes reading this book unbearable. It was almost too painful to finish. If this story actually was written by a human author and edited by another human, they both need to find new jobs.
I read the whole thing just to see if the story was at least ok. But no. The whole thing is implausible and ridiculous. Do not waste your time-- this was AI-slop-level stuff.
Couldn't put this down! Lots of action; hell, I was on the edge of my seat! Very much liked the protagonist. If you're looking for a wild ride read, I highly recommend this.
Plot kept me entertained. The most important thing for me about this novel is that even though this book is fiction, it resembles the importance of media in our world because they can help uncover crimes.

This novel has an unusual topic and a different type of plot. The story moved fairly well but was not very believable. I struggle to rate it a four star but eventually felt it was better than a three star.
A first novel with awkward dialog, but the fast action kept me reading. I did not like excessive use of article "the" and past tense. Needs style and voice help.
Exciting legal thriller filled with greed, deception, poweful enemies of truth. The non-stop drama made me anxious as I worried and wondered how the protagonists would escape. Some of their escapes were not believable, but were entertaining.
Action packed throughout! The characters were great and the story was intense. It kept my heart pumping. The only thing that bothered me was "brilliant" , used so many times to describe Amanda that it started getting irritating.
This book was hard to read. It is repetitive and doesn't connect well. Characters have no depth. Drones on I read it in one day and I feel like it took a month.
