Enjoyed the Mermaid story - the kids want to be friends. Don't like the zoo one at all - too many small cages and too much destruction (esp. at the butterfly house!). A lot of the art seems to be too heavily influenced by Dan Santat's style. And the boy who is the 'smart' one is skinny and wears glasses - is that a stereotype we need to encourage?
The Chinese New Year Dragon story has an appendix of the story told in two Chinese languages, well, that's not the right word, but it's nice to see the translations. It's interesting to see the different children involved in the hunt - sometimes it's one at a time, sometimes it's just one, sometimes it's a whole group. En masse the stories are a bit better than one at a time... but yeah, not for me, and not recommended.
