Silver Foxes #3

Out of The Shadows

Rate this book
Two men. One explosive attraction. And the doubts and fears that could rip them apart forever.

Daniel

Firing Cosmo Stern was the best business decision I ever made. Cocky and over-confident, he was a walking disaster. Five years on, he’s the last man I want on my team when I’m hired to save a failing investment firm from collapse. Brash, infuriating and cocksure, he’s also the most captivating man I’ve ever met. But that means nothing. I have no interest in men. And none, absolutely none, in Cosmo Stern.

Cosmo

I’ve never forgiven Daniel Russo for almost wrecking my career, so when the man I loathe more than anybody walks into the office as my new boss, we both know there’s a storm coming. He’s still uptight, still so poker straight he’ll snap if he bends an inch, and still the hot and sexy silver fox I remember. When a blazing row leads to a burning kiss I’m left stunned, confused and wanting a whole lot more. But I’ve been a straight guy’s walk on the wild side before. It’s a road I’ve vowed never to walk again — for anybody.

Out of The Shadows is a steamy age gap workplace romance. Expect enemies to lovers, two men who can’t admit who or what they want, along with a pinch of angst and friends who love and despair of them in equal measure.

DNF @ 44%

I tried, I really did!

I just didn’t connect with either character or feel any chemistry between them. It felt like it was taking forever and I was honestly shocked that I was barely at 44% when I decided to call it quits. Not much happens other than work stuff and a team bonding trip. They kiss for the first time right before I decided to add it to my DNF shelf because I still didn’t feel anything. Oh well! On to the next 😉

Out of the Shadows is Book 3 in the Silver Fox series by Ali Ryecart and tells the story of the relationship between out and proud younger man Cosmo and closeted older man Daniel.

I felt the story was too heavily weighted on the sex and not enough on the emotion of coming out of Daniel. Cosmo appears very self-centred and lacking in understanding of Daniel’s life changing decision.

I started to lose interest in the story because of the lack of balance and was in haste to get to the end.

This is the eighth book written by Ali Ryecart that I have read. The others have all been 5’s or 4’s. So, this book disappointed me!

A Joyfully Jay review.

Out of the Shadows is the third book in Ali Ryecart’s Silver Foxes series. The books all feature age gap romances with an older hero, and the characters are friends and show up in each other’s books. However, the stories stand alone and as long as you don’t mind some new-to-you side characters, I think you can jump in at any point in the series.

This story has two main conflicts that roughly divide up the book. The first portion focuses on the enemies-to-lovers theme as Cosmo and Daniel unexpectedly end up working together. Daniel has been brought in to help get Cosmo’s company back on track, and they work fairly closely as part of the same team. There is a lot of hostility here, as Daniel remembers Cosmo as the young, cocky upstart whose irresponsible actions almost lost him his business, while Cosmo sees Daniel as the arrogant man who fired him without ever giving him a chance to explain. So there is sort of a slow burn here as the first half of the book or so focuses on these guys moving past their hatred of one another to become friendly, and ultimately act on their attraction to one another.

Read Jay’s review in its entirety here.

Have you ever really had a book, that is sooo perfectly you from the blurb, but it doesnt click with you personally as a reader?
This for me is one of these books. Its well written, theres returning characters I love. The relationship between the characters is good, the right tension is there.
Cosmo is a cheeky, sassy character and Daniel is an older man, with authority as Cosmos boss, again.

But it didnt click for me, and I hate saying that. If anyone can let me know Id appriecate it and Ill retry the book. Im disgusted with myself that we arent getting along

Enemies to lovers.

Not my favourite of the series. I didn't feel the spark between Cosmo and Daniel, and considering this is a enemies to lovers story, that spark really should have led to them to be sizzling hot together. Their getting together just seemed a little perfunctory and manipulated. Saying that, the writing was good, and it was great to meet the characters from the previous books in the series. One setback, won't stop me from reading future books by this lady.

Cosmo and Daniel ❤️

3 Stars 🌟

I love a good enemies to lovers read, this one was a 50/50 for me... sometimes I felt as if a certain spark was missing with these guys and the relationship was forced.... I wanted to love it fully but somehow I was left missing something, With that being said the writing was good and the premise was there... however IMO the MC's lacked that certain explosive chemistry that I've come to expect out of an enemies to lovers romance. I won't let this deter me from reading the next book in the series though, the others were great...this one just wasn't my favorite 🙁

DNF @ 58%.

I think I can officially say that I do not enjoy Ai Ryecart’s longer novels. Under 200 pages? Sure, sign me up… but these 300+ page books always are great for the first half, only to drag like crazy for the second half.

I liked this. I thought I was nearing the end, and then realized I was only half way through. I read a few more chapters, but the only way I know I’ll finish this is pecking away at it, one chapter at a time, and I honestly can’t bring myself to do it.

Daniel, a consultant troubleshooter, is recruited to save a failing finance house. He didn’t anticipate encountering Cosmo, the man he fired five years earlier for incompetence. Expecting to have to fire him again, Daniel is instead floored by the man Cosmo has become. A man that also stirs long-buried feelings regarding men. When Cosmo encounters Daniel, he’s damned if he will be pushed about by the man again.
Reading this story was a delight. From the first page, the electricity between Cosmo and Daniel almost jumps off the page. With a significant age gap - the two men have very different experiences of gay life. Cosmo is out, proud, and scarred by one particular man he had relations with. Daniel has denied his true self for his current lifetime. The attraction between them is palpable, but both have needs and boundaries as well as their strengths and vulnerabilities.
Out Of The Shadows is the third book in the Silver Fox series. It is told in the first person via dedicated chapters from the viewpoints of Daniel and Cosmo. If you’ve read the previous novels, some crossover characters offer some extra background but no effect on the ability to read this installment as a standalone.
The story begins in the office as a game of cat and mouse. Cosmo and Daniel are interchangeable predators. The story then moves into more personal areas, introducing friends and activities that lead to fight or flight reactions. Friends offer their protectiveness as freely as their advice and warnings.
There’s lots to love about this story, including some stonking British phrases and the ‘Oh hell yes’ knowledge that Hobnobs are comfort food. I also loved that neither man is a pushover. Both fight their corner – oh, and I’m giving a shout out here to Wallace, the cat.
The word count makes this a good length story – one that I immensely enjoyed and was eager to discover what happened next. But Cosmo’s online googling shows Daniel as a significant media man of interest. Given the social curiosity in Daniel, I expected elements of this to be added to the story, or explanations for their absence.
Nevertheless, this silver fox tale was a goodie, with plenty of yin/yang, emotional ups, downs, and page-turning activity. Other than one little niggle - A thorough joy to read.

Enemies to lovers
Firstly let me say I got this book for gay romance reviews and this is me choosing to leave my honest review.
Daniel Russo’s life has change lately. He sold his business for millions and now he was a freelance Business rescuer. He would go into companies that were failing turn them around and make them extremely successful. When he walked into the Conference room he was shocked to see a familiar face. Cosmo. Cosmo has nearly cost him Millions and worse a bad reputation within the business world.
Cosmo could not believe his bad luck as he sat in the conference room waiting to see what was going to happen with the business that was failing. His old boss who didn’t listen to what had really happened and blamed him for everything. Should we start looking for a new job now??
Daniel always thought that Cosmo was very good at his job and he liked his enthusiasm and that came across in this new company but could he trust him? What he liked about Cosmo was he didn’t hide who he was. He was very proud to be a gay man and he didn’t back down when Daniel tried to make him uncomfortable within the first meeting.
Cosmo always had this massive crush on Daniel but he knew he was a straight man so knew nothing would come of it but when something happened on a teambuilding retreat it changed everything. But Daniel had to get his head around being gay whereas Cosmo was never going to hide who he was again. He had been hurt by men who had used him and although things were good with Daniel he wasn’t going to be anyone’s dirty secret again.
I really felt for both of these guys in different ways. Cosmo is this vibrant beautiful man who totally accept who he is and has never doubted who he is but the hurt of previous man has really took a toll on him and his trust in people. Where as Daniel has got to accept that all his past relationships with women didn’t work because he was gay. He was nearly 50 and didn’t know how people would react to the fact of him coming out to try to take things slowly but was it too slowly for Cosmo? I thoroughly enjoyed this book And got quite emotional at different times. This is my first book by Ali Ryecart but I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

I liked any number of things about this novel: the premise, in theory, I was all for. Enemies to lovers romances, especially when they involve forced proximity, have endless potential for awesome. Cosmo is brave, unapologetically himself, honest, and talented, as well as confident with an edge of cockiness, and he has a great group of family/chosen friends, many of whom are recognizable from the authors’ previous works. There’s a solid narrative arc and things end well, with a lovely epilogue as bonus. The only downside of this novel for me was the other protagonist. If I’m honest (and I’m about to be) I found Daniel to be a deeply unlikable character. He’s nice to look at, sure, and he has a soft spot for his adopted cat, but he’s also kind of a horrible person, at least where Cosmo is concerned. I couldn’t get over the fact that what he did to Cosmo when Cosmo worked for him the first time was never addressed, let alone apologised for. He was utterly, completely in the wrong and he seriously derailed someone’s life, but…eh, stuff happens? He also lets Cosmo down at pretty much every turn in their present-day relationship, and if it weren’t for various women in his life telling him how utterly useless he’s being, he’d pretty much still be unaware of exactly what he’d done wrong, despite the fact that Cosmo has already clearly explained it to him. One grand gesture at the end of pages of messing up was not enough to make me like, or forgive him, and I guess it’s lucky for the sake of the requisite happily ever after that Cosmo has a more forgiving nature than I do. It’s not that I can’t see the challenges Daniel faces, accepting his identity and the sacrifices he has to make to come “out of the shadows,” it’s the fact that so many of his reactions make Cosmo the collateral damage that I didn’t love. So I’m not a Daniel fan, but Cosmo and friends were more than enough, overall, to make for an enjoyable reading experience, and it’s definitely worth picking up this book for the chance to get to know them.

Great age-gap story!

I’ve been a huge fan of Ali Ryecart’s writing since I read my first book back in 2016 and I haven’t missed a new release since then. I’m not generally a fan of age-gap books where the gap is over 20 years but this one worked for me. Out of the Shadows is also a great enemies-to-lovers story. I loved getting to see characters from the first two books again but don’t worry if you haven’t read them yet; Out of the Shadows totally stands alone and you won’t feel lost if you start the series with this book.

There’s no way I can say what the book is about any better than the excellent blurb does. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. I loved Cosmo; he really knows who he is and he won’t hide – not even for Daniel. Daniel has been in denial about his sexuality for years and he’s still in denial when he and Cosmo meet again after several years. I loved everything about this story – even the parts that made me tear up.

I knew that it was inevitable that Cosmo’s and Daniel’s relationship crises would be caused by the fact that Daniel isn’t out but when the time came in the story, I couldn’t have predicted the way that Ali wrote it. Daniel’s best friend, and former fiancé, was a great supporting character. She didn’t hesitate to tell Daniel what he did wrong and what he needed to do to fix it.

Out of the Shadows isn’t all angsty. There are some great scenes where Daniel, Cosmos, and the rest of their work team are at a retreat. Daniel proved that he had a lighter side and he was great at paint-ball. He also played the hero for Cosmos but you’ll have to read the book to find out how. 😊 I don’t know if there are more books planned for this series or not. What I do know is that whatever Ali Ryecart writes next, I’ll be reading it.

A copy of this book was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

I have so far enjoyed this new-to-me author’s writing and, all in all, this wasn’t an exception. I liked the dynamics between mature, ‘straight’ Daniel and flippant, out-and-proud Cosmo who we met in the two previous books, but felt that their relationship seems to be based to a big percentage on lust.

There are various ‘complications’ to their relationship:

.) age gap of 20 years +
.) Daniel is Cosmo’s boss, even if it’s only temporary
.) their past history puts them into a difficult position
.) Daniel is so deep in the closet he hasn’t acknowledged to himself who he is

That made for a captivating read, however, it needs to be said that …

.) Cosmo sometimes goes over the top. While I understood his issues and fears, his knee-jerk, panicky, OTT reaction at the Christmas market, in particular, didn’t endear him to me. It felt very much like a toddler’s tantrum.

.) Cosmo's pushing Daniel too hard, too soon to ‘come out’ and ‘wave the rainbow flag’, when the guy is only ‘labelled’ himself as gay for like 5 minutes. I get that Cosmo has been damaged by a previous relationship, but he doesn’t give Daniel enough understanding, just seeing his own POV.
I'm very much on #TeamDaniel here.

.) I would have liked some deeper insight why Daniel has been ‘in the shadows’, hiding himself all his life.

.) Never keen on grand gestures in the final part of a book. Tbh, the last 15% made me shake my head quite a bit.

Still, the writing is good, the coming out issue is really well discussed, even if I didn’t like how it was resolved for Daniel, and it was an entertaining read.

I've enjoyed this series so far and Out of the Shadows brings us another two men who take a moment to see what is possible with each other so they can have their HEA.
Daniel and Cosmo are different in a lot of ways - age, style, personality - but click when it comes to their attraction and chemistry. Their relationship starts off with a lot of tension and distrust of each other with some bad work related history and it takes work on both of their parts to move forward from that. A work bonding weekend shows a whole new side of Daniel to Cosmo but he already had a bad experience with someone not out and refuses to put himself in that position to be hurt again.
I love the back and forth between these two. It's tight and intense for a lot of the time and makes for an entertaining read. You're willing them on and wanting the happy outcome for both but it takes a lot of work, especially on Daniel's part as he has a whole new world to become a part of. This story has a really good mix going on with heated moments of both the best and bad kind as well as emotional turmoil with Cosmo's previous history impacting his thoughts on what's going on with Daniel now and Daniel needing time to adjust and allow himself to live life honest with both himself and others.
I enjoyed getting interaction with the previous couple's from the series as well. All knowing Cosmo means that there is a lot of protective feelings going on, especially from his cousin and his best friend.
A good addition to the series and a great enemies to lovers romance.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Out of the Shadows is a wonderful coming out, silver fox, workplace romance. While it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.
Cosmo is a young investment broker(I think that’s his job title) and when the company he works for is bought out, and a fixer brought in, it shakes up his world a bit. Because Daniel is also the man who fired him from his first job out of uni. Daniel doesn’t really trust Cosmo and makes it pretty clear right from the get go by treating him differently to the rest of the employees.
After working himself into the ground for his business, Daniel now lives a pretty cushy life, working for and when he wants to build other businesses back up. Which means that a large part of this book is about that process. Which provides some great bonding opportunities including paintball and sheep herding. Both of which gave some hilarious moments between Daniel and Cosmo.
The biggest sticking point for these two to get their happily ever after (aside from the previous firing, which sadly isn’t really dealt with in a way that made me feel it was resolved), is that Daniel has been ‘straight’ for his entire life, and being attracted to a man is new for him. And with elderly parents, coming out is not something he’s really prepared for, especially with Cosmo being so openly gay.

It’s a really good story, I enjoyed the romance of the main characters, and their friends made for great support characters. Especially Daniel’s cat, which really showed how their relationship was going in a cute way. I loved the way their ending came about, honestly this is quite a warm fuzzy book for an enemies to lovers trope, and I really loved that about it. Despite all their differences these two make a great couple, and a great story.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

Cosmo and Daniel’s story is okay. Not bad by any stretch, but certainly not great. Maybe I feel this way because the chemistry between the two seemed… off?

Cosmo had been fired by Daniel five years previously, but still found him to be smokin hot. He did have reservations about working with the man again, which is completely understandable. Their relationship is contentious at the beginning as you would expect. I loved everything about Cosmo. His determination and intelligence, his refusal to live in the shadows and to accept anything less than being acknowledged by his partner on every occasion, resonated with me.

Daniel is the consummate workaholic. He’s 50 something to Cosmo’s 27. Throughout the story there were several things that rubbed me wrong with regard to him. I can completely understand going for the status quo your entire life and not acknowledging your true self, for whatever reason. Who jumps for joy at the thought of their life being more difficult due to who they love? I didn’t have issues with that. It did strike me as odd that he never once had any issue at all with the large age gap between himself and Cosmo. Even the most laid back of people would probably have at least a momentary pause over an age gap of 20+ years. I don’t know why, but he doesn’t come across as much of a sympathetic character. I didn’t connect with him. That’s definitely a me issue, but it does effect my rating.

It’s still worth a read if you like the age gap trope. 3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Out of the Shadows is a beautiful continuation of the Silver Foxes series. I enjoyed seeing the characters from the first two books and knowing that their HEA’s were holding true.
I fell in love with Cosmo and Daniel and quickly became invested in their romance. Their inner thoughts and fears are not conducive to an easy, stress-free time, but I understood each viewpoint and wished I could jump in there and help them through the anguish that they felt and caused. I wasn't even confident they could reach a HEA for a while. My heart broke alongside theirs several times, and I cried real tears for them.
There are good times and humor also, don't get me wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed those times, and I found myself smiling and laughing along with them.
And, that's the thing. I felt like I was right there with these two lovely men. In the scenes, in the conversations, and in their minds. I was a part of their lives and couldn't bear to see them break apart.
This book hit me right in the feels. It felt so believable. It's not like some romance books that lightly brush against the hard stuff and move on (although I love them too). The author made them have the feelings you get in real life; confusing, painful, irrational, overwhelming, and so on.
I enjoyed Out of the Shadows.
I look forward to more from this author.

What an engaging read! It is not a short story but each chapters adds a new brick to the development of both Daniel’s slow coming out of the shadows and the two men’s rapid bonding and it never gets boring.

Cosmo is out and proud and sometimes his confidence and the age difference with Daniel emerge more strongly, bringing out Cosmo's petulant side. Daniel on the other side was a fifty-year-old, who has dedicated his life to his work, very successfully so, but at the same time he never spent time to listen to his own feelings. But I liked how he accepted the inevitable, his attraction to men and more specifically to Cosmo, and did not let fear stop him to face his new reality one step at a time.

Personally I resented at first that Cosmo was rushing their relationship towards the bright open world, without considering the impact this could have on Daniel’s very successful professional life, and this is an aspect that the author only marginally dealt with. But if Cosmo hadn’t push, this book could have been twice as long, so for the sake of us readers, the author’s choice to speed up the coming out was the wiser decision.

This is the third book of this series and the other two couples play an important role in the storyline though there is no need to have read their books to understand and appreciate their involvement in Cosmo’s life. But I have put both other books on my TBR list!

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review - I would recommend it to anyone who likes longer stories where the focus is on the building and growth of the relationship between the MCs with a well balanced distribution between hot and cosy moments.

Out of the Shadows is a good addition to the Silver Foxes series but unfortunately it was only an okay read for me. I absolutely loved the first book in this series but I had such a difficult time with this one and I never really connected with the characters even though I had been looking forward to reading Cosmo's story. I love a slow burn but this felt almost too slow and the first half of the story dragged quite a bit. Once Cosmo and Daniel finally started to see each other in a new way I really found myself enjoying it a lot more and I like how their relationship develops. They do have a lot to deal with as Daniel has a very difficult time settling into his first relationship with a man and Cosmo is pushing him way too much and ultimately pushes him away. Their issues get in the way of what is really important and they will have to make some very difficult decisions if there is any hope for them to be together. The secondary characters are great and they add a lot to this story, I liked the ending and I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

This novel was very upsetting to me. I hated the unsettled nature of the relationship between Cosmo Stern and Daniel Russo. I'm not really a fan of enemies-to-lovers stories precisely because I really don't like the antagonism and confrontational quality of those stories. And in this case, that went on for half the book almost entirely without any relief. Both men are irritating, though I found Cosmo to be more so than Daniel half the time. Both men frustrate me with their behavior, Cosmo with his veiled impatience and Daniel with his fear. Yet I can see where such a situation as they find themselves in is possible because of all the variables that have come together to bring them together a second time. I feel deep sympathy for Daniel who must come out as a gay man to all the people who've known him as straight for his whole life. At his age, that and the feeling of losing control has got to be frightening beyond belief. Thankfully, neither of them upsets me enough that I cannot enjoy them when they finally figure out how to be together in the same space without being angry, mean, or afraid.

Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Built on the concept that accepting flaws and imperfections make things stronger and more beautiful. That is the perfect analogy for the relationship between Cosmo and Daniel. Sometimes the breakdown makes things more precious and stronger in the long run. Daniel and Cosmo had a difficult history, with Daniel dramatically firing Cosmo from his first real job. Fast Forward 5 years and Daniel is again Cosmo’s boss. Forced proximity between the two brings forward feelings that Cosmo never dreamed could ever come about. Daniel trying to figure out how to accept himself for who he is leads to emotional ups and downs as these two men find their way to the HEA they both deserve. Ali Reycart has a true talent for pulling the emotion from her characters, making you want to cry for the heartbreak they are suffering even knowing all along it works out in the end. I truly enjoyed this story and plan now to go back and read the stories of the other two couples we meet in the book.

Daniel Russo thought that firing Cosmo Stern was the best decision he had ever made as he was cocky and overconfident. Now five years later and working as a troubleshooter he is the last man he wanted to find on the team he is leading. He might have been captivating but Daniel is straight so nothing will happen there. Cosmo has never forgiven Daniel Russo for almost wrecking his career. When a blazing row leads to a kiss between them Cosmo is left stunned, confused and wanting far more from Daniel but he will not be the man used by a straight man for an experiment and then dropped.

This story had plenty of angst, was very steamy and passionate, and had a suitable make-or-break confrontation that needed the help of some friends to try and help fix the situation (although it might not have appeared that way all of the time). I loved the team-building exercise and the failures which were fairly spectacular. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story containing mature content.

This is the first story I’ve read in the series and I had no problem with the characters. The author does a great job of shortly identifying the backgrounds of each so this is really a standalone story.
I enjoyed the enemies to lovers, coming out, age gap between these two. Cosmo is younger than Daniel and his personality and actions show that. His interactions with Daniel are entertaining.
Daniel has created and sold a company. He is experienced in his career and is somewhat looking for more. When these two meet again, something is different. Daniel as a hard time admitting that he is gay. With his attraction to Cosmo he is having to take a look at himself and make decisions.
The lack of communication between these two causes plenty of problems. I feel the author did a great job of resolving many of the issues between these two. This story flows smoothly and the characters are likable.

worth the wait!

I’ve been waiting for this book to come out for a few months so I was excited to see it had been released. Daniel is in his early 50’s an excellent businessman but always felt something was missing in his relationships with women. He never let himself be open to any other options other than women. Cosmos is 20 years younger and out and proud. The first time they met Cosmos almost cost Daniel his business and they parted on bad terms. Now Daniel is brought in to save the company Cosmos works for and not only do conversations get heated but sparks fly also.

Can Cosmos work for someone like Daniel again whilst he is so attracted to him and can Daniel finally accept something about himself he was never willing to consider before now. It’s not an easy road for them and Daniel has a lot to learn and accept before they can move forward. I enjoyed watching them fight their attraction and then fight for their love.

**ARC Review**

I really really liked this. I love enemies to lovers plus office romances and this had it and more. The guys had a good age difference between them but this wasn't a daddy/boy thing. The attraction was there but this was a slowburn that was enjoyable because of the journey it took for them to get to "dating" then "boyfriends". Of course we had the little conflict especially with Daniel trying to come to turns with his truth and Cosmo having trouble putting himself back out there with falling for a guy who wont live his truth...fully. Real emotional story that will pull at your heartstrings. Cosmo mannnnnn...don't know how many times he had me in tears. I felt for Daniel too...deep sigh...so many feels...absolutely loved the ending and I was so glad this ended well. An amazing story!

I loved this book! The story of Daniel and Cosmo is one heck of a rollercoaster ride and well worth reading! The two meet five years after their first disastrous meeting and things will start off a bit bumpy. The two men will go back and forth with each other in and out of work. Feelings will change and the two will come together but it won’t be smooth sailing. A misstep out and about will drive a wedge but it is one Daniel will try to bridge. I loved the way that the people who matter most to Daniel will help him see that it’s ok to be honest about who he truly is and when he finally admits it to not only himself but those around him, it is a joy to see him reap the benefits of his honesty and find his true and forever love with Cosmo.

I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

Such a great book. Sexy and entertaining. An age gap, enemies to lovers tale of love. Daniel is the epitome of the successful, confident, sexy, straight silver fox. He is the boss and definitely in charge. He hires Cosmo briefly until he has to fire him for almost causing the company significant damage. A mistake that may not have been entirely Cosmos' fault. A few year later Daniel is hired on as a consultant for an investment company. To his shock he finds that Cosmo is working for the company. Cosmo has never forgiven Daniel for firing him. Daniel only wants distance between himself and Cosmos. The tension between the two is palpable. The attraction is intense. Can the two men get beyond the past and stop fighting the attraction between them? A thin line between love and hate. I highly recommend.

Open your eyes, and climb out of the box. Daniel and Cosmo, have a turbulent hissue. Daniel, fired Cosmo from previous employment. Five years later, after an acquisition, Daniel is against Cosmo's boss. Neither look forward to or anticipate a successful work relationship. They have unflattering unfavorable impressions of the other. Cosmo, is out and sees Daniel as a bit uptight, straight and rigid. Daniel has lived a long life as a straight man. He and Cosmo's relationship changes as they work together over time. Cosmo's fear of being a 'dirty secret', don't come to fruition. The slow discovery adds to the depth of the story. Daniel's growth is a joy to watch. Does Cosmo have wisdom to be patient with Daniel? Will Daniel fully embrace and free his mind? Can Cosmo learn patience? Well done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

An enemies to lovers is nearly always a hit, here it certainly proves to be. The heroes, Cosmo and Daniel, are great characters. Cosmo’s energy is contagious. Daniel, his anger carries over from the past and gives his character a bigger than life feel. He’s important, wealthy and holds all the cards. At first they’re oil and water, they don’t get on. When their worlds collide it’s fantastic. Coming out, staying in seems to always be an issue, rightly so. Their journey is loud, volatile at times, and so entertaining to watch. Their relationship is bright and shiny, then it isn’t. The road back is an interesting, engaging and amazing trip you shouldn’t miss. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

3ish stars. An okayish book to read for the third in the series. I'd read the first book and really liked it but skipped the second book. This one I didn't feel the characters. A good age gap story with a straight boss vs gay employee in the story. They don't get on when they first meet after 5 years especially bringing back what happened then.
Cosmo is determined to make his job work regardless of his opinion of Daniel.
This has a lot of pages to the book which I sometimes skimmed the story past the drawn out parts. I loved the premise of the story but sometimes it wouldn't hold my attention.

Daniel 50 years was the expert of getting company's back in the rankings and never thought he'd see Cosmo again.
Cosmo 27 years was working at Kingsbury Groups latest addition.
