This story felt very weird to me. First, the world and concept were unique and interesting but I was mostly confused through the whole book.
Second, there was no romance here. Rough sex? Absolutely. But the “I love you” from both MCs was empty.
Third, there was very little relationship or character development. Dialogue felt stilted and cold. Moose, the dog, was the most interesting and developed character😂.
Overall, I didn’t really enjoy this🤷🏻♀️.

Interesting concept with the curse and the warring factions. It just got complicated and twisted. I think it seemed that way because just like the H we were finding out information at the same time.
I found it odd that the dad would spring everything on his sons and not have prepared them through the years so they would already understand and be searching for their mates. It seemed the enemies had the upper hand.
There was some hot very rough sex. It just seemed like the spanking was in there for shock value and didn’t do anything for the story.

Mafia Shifters and Magic
I love the combos Mafia guys and Shifters and I love that that their adversaries have some sort of magic as well as being rival Mafia.
Oh and Fated Mates! I really loved this book and I am looking forward to more of this series. I love the characters and there is a lot of 🔥 🔥 ❤️

Although a dark mafia shifter romance it’s extremely well written with a perfect amount of spanking, romance and drama and a happy ending for these two. Could not put it down. Both characters are likeable and the H while a little domineering he doesn’t go too far.
Is a standalone but there is an overarching story which will be interesting to see where it goes. Their story is competed in this book with the next books in the series all following a different brother.
Look forward to reading the rest.!

The mysteries of the bayou ...... Good vs evil... This story combines elements of mafia families, wolf shifters, big business, voodoo curses, philanthropy, vengeance, sacrifice, and more. There is a lot going on, so you really need to pay close attention when you read it..... It is a good story...
Gabriel is the oldest of five brothers. Since they were children, he and his siblings have known about the shifter aspect of themselves. Their father is just now revealing to them a lot more very serious information that will affect every aspect of their lives and the future of their family.....
Coraline is a gentle-hearted veterinarian. Her mother has manipulated her into returning to the small town where she grew up, although her mother has absconded elsewhere. It soon becomes apparent that there are a lot of strange things going on, danger and mystery appear everywhere......
The story is interesting and exciting and creepy at the same time.......
What really happened? .......The shifters aren't the monsters they are made out to be if Coraline's mother wanted her to be with Gabriel........ I love the way Gabriel interacts with moose....... Gabriel and Coraline's relationship is explosive from the start .... She is his MATE..........not the typical mafia shifter book, TO ME it is really interesting and a good read... It will keep you on the edge of your seat. I truly enjoyed the characters..... lots of plot twists, it hooks you and stimulates your imagination. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, a new twist occurred. Character development which has laid down the foundation for this series............ I was already a fan of Piper Stone, but she did a great job with this book.........

“Unchained Beast” is the first book in new ‘Alpha Dynasty’ series by Piper Stone. This is a story that combines elements of mafia families, wolf shifters, big business, voodoo curses, philanthropy, vengeance, sacrifice, and more. There are multiple rough steamy scenes in this book, and some domestic discipline. I couldn’t understand why Gabriel’s father would withhold so much critical information from his sons for so long, buy I’m sure the author had her reasons for arranging it that way. There were a few other things that I found a little confusing, but I wouldn’t be surprised if future books in this series clarify them. Gabriel’s brothers are good secondary characters each has a different personality. It will be interesting to find out how each of their personal stories will play out.

With two blue moons, voodoo and dark magic all at play to ensure his family end up with nothing.
Coraline was lured back to New Orleans by her mother. With a new business of her own, albeit in a lousy neighbourhood, and living back in her family home, she’s making ends meet…just. Being a vet is her passion and when she’s attacked one night on the way home, she thinks nothing about helping the dog that comes to her rescue. Only when she gets it back to her surgery she realises that it is in fact a beautiful wolf.
He didn’t know why, he just had a need, a pull in her direction. It was just in time too. There’s something about Coraline that calls to him. This little human is under his skin and vulnerable. He knows he has to keep her safe. He just doesn’t know why yet…
This was an enjoyable and entertaining read to kick off a new shifter series.

To Whom This May Concern:
This is the first book in the Alpha Dynasty series, which can be read as a standalone book.
The couple in this book is Gabriel Dupree and Coraline LeBlanc, where Gabriel is a shift shaper and Coraline is his fated mate. Gabriel's character is the typical male "you need to love me now", while Coraline had "fire" in her at the beginning of the book which succumbed with no hesitation after meeting the main male character.
In this book, Gabriel's family is bestowed with a curse. Coraline is the answer to all of his problems. However, she is not easily able to hide or dissuade. The plot had potential. However, it was very choppy. Choppy not in the sense of the writing, but how events were just random.
The "romance" scene did have steam. I will never judge on the amount of romance scenes in a book, but more the quality of the scenes themselves. There are approximately 3 scenes in the book. However, it was like instant love and instant big o. In reality, those parameters are just not fulfilling.
The ending of the book tied the book together and the character's conflicts were partially addressed.
With that being said, I give the book a 2 out of 5. The book was quite difficult to read due to the poor quality of the plot.

Mafia/Shifter mix and what a mix it is because within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with!

Gabriel sexy as all get out mafia and they (his brothers and him) are Lycans with a family background like none other. Coraline sweet, gentle vet. but her background raised by a single mom (who controls her through making her feel guilty) from the Bayous of Louisiana with a history in black magic and again wrapped up in so many secrets that take more than one person to figure them out. Throw in a curse affecting both Lycan and human again throwing them together where they get to know each other and the chemistry is insanely intense with them but with danger, suspense where will it all lead, will they figure out the curse, can they break the curse, and can it lead them to happiness?

'Unchained Beast' is the first book in Piper Stone's "Alpha Dynasty" series. This paranormal storyline is unlike any I've read before. Of course, there's a fated mate, but the backstory makes this one so different. Gabriel Dupree is a mafia prince over the area in Chicago, his father the Don in Louisiana. Being the oldest of five brothers, he's also next in line when his father steps down. They've all known they were Lycan shifters from a young age. They've also had it instilled in them to control their urges. What they didn't know is the information their father passes on to them when they all show up to the family meeting their father called. WFT? We're talking generations upon generations of myths told from further back than anyone can remember. They all entail murder, a curse, voodoo, and a consequence that could affect their entire dynasty. This is not the romantic, fate-induced coming together of mates. These are raw, primal, in-your-face emotions that only two very strong personalities can bring to a storyline with this much impact. There are a few things in my mind that I still have questions about but I'm sure Ms. Stone will bring those to light as the storyline progresses in 'Savage Brute'. If you like the darkness in your stories, this is one that will get you hooked quickly.

This new series “Alpha Dynasty” is mixed with several different elements that I enjoy reading – mafia, shifters, and curses. This is the story of the Dupree family, which consists of 5 brothers who have all been cursed by the Brousseau family. This story focuses on Gabriel as he is the oldest and Coraline. Coraline left home when she was old enough and moved to New York to pursue her dreams. However, years later her mother insists she moved back to Louisiana and open a vet practice – even going as far as to buy it for her.
The Dupree boys must meet their fated mates by the 2nd blue moon, otherwise, they will cease to exist anymore. Gabriel had gone home to meet with his father and brothers to find out more about this curse; afterwards, Gabriel had this urge to go to this little town where he runs into Coraline who is in trouble. As things progress, Coraline knows she should be afraid of this man, but she is drawn to him as he is to her.
There are some twists, drama, rough, steamy scenes, dominance, surprises, and chemistry. I am eager to see how this story plays out and what will happen to the Dupree family in the end. I look forward to the next book in this series.

This was a paranormal romance, a change from other books by this author that I have read and enjoyed. Not only does this book contain wolf shifters but included is a curse on the shifters family by a mystical Voodoo Priestess his family had burned at the stake over a century earlier together with many of her followers. Part of the curse was the transformation of their family's bloodline into wolf shifters, but a second part foretold of their bloodline's destruction when the Earth experiences two blue moons in a single year. The closer the time comes the harder it will be for them to control their primal desire. Their only hope is for the pure bloodline family to mate with their fated mate before the Lunar event takes place. I enjoyed this introduction to a new series and can recommend that the author has enthralled me with a new and exciting series about a modern-day mafia family with a vengeful curse hanging over their heads intent on destroying both the woman they love and the empire they created.

Long ago, the Dupree mafia family was cursed by a Voodoo Priestess who claimed they were responsible for killing her people. They were cursed to be Lycan shifters, forced to shift at every moon. Their father is aware that there is much more to the curse, but he hasn't enlightened his sons beyond the basics. He warns that they have to find mates before the second blue moon, or they will cease to exist. As the first-born, Gabriel is expected to find his mate first and he's been dreaming of a beautiful woman, but he's never set eyes on her. Coraline Leblanc is a young veterinarian who's in danger, but she's totally unaware. As danger closes in on her, she's saved by Gabriel's soldiers. He knows in an instant that this is his mate, but he doesn't expect this stubborn and feisty young woman and he is going to enjoy teaching her his intense and dark ways. There is an overarching mystery in this story that is left open, even though Gabriel and Coraline have their happy ending. The next book is Dax and Margot's story.
Thomas Locklear is one of the most imaginative narrators I've heard and his interpretation of each of the characters is spot on. I particularly enjoyed hearing Gabriel's shift to Lycan form and the growl that bursts from his mouth!

I thought the voodoo curse, the blue moons, and the loup-Garou being tied to the mafia was interesting.
There were moments in the book that were supposed to be suspenseful I think, but I found some of them to be confusing. Were things happening because of the curse, the mafia, connection, or both? I wasn't 100% sure who knew Gabriel was a Lycan.
It was frustrating to me that very early in the book, it was indicated there was something special about Coraline, other than being Gabriel's fated mate. Gabriel and Coraline's conflict took over so much of the book, I had to wonder if it would have been more enjoyable had they been able to work together more. I would have appreciated more romance.
I am only speaking for myself. I found the constant struggle to be exhausting. The romance occurred in the last two chapters. The actual story ended at 87%. There was some descriptive violence. The last 13% of the book was info about other books and series.
I had actually read books 2 and 5 before realizing I was missing a couple. I will put 3 and 4 on my TBR list. I would say you should read this and judge for yourself.

Once again, Piper Stone pens a riveting shapeshifting romance. In this book, Ms. Stone introduces her readers to Coraline Le Blanc and Gabriel Dupree. She is a struggling veterinarian who returns to her small, rural hometown in Louisiana. Gabriel is a wealthy shapeshifting wolf who also is the head of the Dupree crime family. Destiny brings these two together through an ancient Voodoo curse cast by Jade Brosseau. The Brosseau and Dupree family have been rivals for generations. To prevent the curse from being fulfilled, Gabriel must find his mate. That is when Destiny steps in with Coraline. Will they be able to sustain a relationship? Will the curse be thwarted? You must read this book to find out.
I enjoyed another well-written shape-shifting romantic suspense. I appreciate Ms. Stone’s technique of using a two-prong plot. One prong is their romantic journey. The second prong is one of suspense and mystery in the life of crime family cursed by an ancient Voodoo priestess. It follows Gabriel Dupree and the rivalry with other crime families. I enjoyed the rich conversational and internal dialog revealing Gabriel and Coraline’s backstories. I liked the use of a dual point of view to illuminate their hopes and vulnerabilities. Not bad. Just left me a bit dissatisfied
I know it’s the opener to a series, but the plot
skipped over & through some things that I wish it hadn’t so much. I had difficulty following the significance of the revelations from the letters. And I found the FMC rather annoying.

What was the significance of the necklace? Her revived memories & visions were mostly too late to avert anything, so what was the point of those? Was she actually fathered by a Brousseau or another man?
There was so much info missing about Gabriel’s father. We never saw him shift, was his mother turned?
I will read the next book to see if that one flows better & leaves less questions. If it doesn’t, I’m not sure I’ll read any further.
I know it’s the opener to a series, but the plot
skipped over & through some things that I wish it hadn’t so much. I had difficulty following the significance of the revelations from the letters. And I found the FMC rather annoying.

Really good!
This book was really good! I haven't read many shifter books as I struggle to find ones that hold my attention. But this book did that and more. Yes it's a shifter book but it wasn't all about shifting. Idk how to explain it but it was a perfect combination of suspense, sexiness, and were.wolf! This book was spicy! I loved all the hot asf scenes between the 2 main characters. The story plot was really good and kept you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next.
The reason for 4 stars instead of one was there were quite a few typos or grammatical errors that would make the sentence confusing. Second was I felt it ended way to soon or abruptly. I know there is more coming in the rest of the books in this series but I felt like something was missing in the end.

Unchained Beast, the first book in the Alpha Dynasty series, is a wonderfully written dark shifter paranormal mafia romance, two of my favourite genres in one amazing package. Piper Stone did a fantastic job with the world-building and character development; as soon as Locklear started speaking, I was hooked. The storyline is engaging, intense, sensual, and super-steamy with some dark elements. Loved the cast! Gabriel Dupree and Coraline LeBlanc are highly appealing and captivating characters, and the chemistry was off-the-charts. I seriously can't wait to hear the second book in the Alpha Dynasty.
Thomas Locklear was flawless. His deep and growly voice was a perfect depiction of Gabriel. He definitely breathed life into the story and made it even more enjoyable. Unchained Beast was so worth the listen!

It's been a while since I read a Paranormal. An entertaining read relating to werewolves but not what is seen on screen. A 100 yr+ old curse has been brought upon the Dupree Dynasty line. A dynasty that may be eradicated unless the curse is broken.
Gabriel, eldest sibling of the Dupree Dynasty, (both legal and illegal dynasty)
Coraline, the mate too involved in the fated curse, unbeknown to her though. We delve into Gabriel & Coroline's union and what is expected, but behind every corner there is also trouble awaiting. An enjoyable read. Cliffhanger - NO. More to follow - YES. If you enjoy Paranormal with a touch of domination, you will enjoy this.

Gabriel is called home by his father who needs to speak with all of his sons as soon as possible. As the oldest of 5 brothers Gabriel thought that he knew everything about his shifter identity but now his father is talking about their family history and curses placed by a voodoo priestess. Coraline is a sweet and gentle veterinarian who is manipulated by her mother into moving back to her hometown. You need to pay close attention when you're reading this story as there is a lot going on that I'm not going to ruin for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this page-turning story to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book

A dark and broody Hero, and a feisty heroine who can take care of herself, thank you very much, combine to make a shifter mafia romance. Gabriel Dupree is Loup-garou, and Coraline LeBlanc is a veterinarian, as well as his destined mate. Throw in some voodoo magic, and curses, and there is a lot going on, but it is all some kind of wonderful. Let's face it. Piper Stone writes books I want to read, and this was no exception. It is even better than I thought it would be, and the ending, while an HEA for our couple, is left open for more in the series, and I cannot wait! Five stars all the way, this is well worth the one click.

This reminds of the little red riding hood with the big bad wolf but with a super dark adult twist. You have a man who was born into and carries in him what some believe is evil trying his best to be a good person. You have a woman who is good attracted to a man who appears as evil incarnate. Add a curse to the picture and you are in for twisted tale of a couple trying to defeat a curse before it can come true. I will warn you the heat level in this one is off the chart, but I would expect nothing less from this wonderful author. Take a chance and read the so not your child hood fairy story I think you will find your self emersed in the tale and quite surprised by all that happens

Deliciously wicked! This is a standalone novel and the first in a new series (Alpha Dynasty). All I can say is bring on more. Coraline is a veterinarian starting a new practice in the sticks of Louisiana. Oh her way home she is attacked by would-be kidnappers/rapists. She is about to be dragged from her car when a huge dog comes to her rescue and mauls the attackers. He is wounded in the process and she takes him back to her clinic to help him. But she realizes it isn't a dog but rather a wolf. The story is absolutely captivating! Gabriel and his family have been cursed and made shifters. He and Coraline lust for each other and the sex is brutal and animalistic, along with rough spankings. Gabriel has brothers and hopefully their stories are to come. Fabulous read!

(3.5 stars) I enjoyed the book, it wasn't my favourite but sometimes it takes me a bit to get into a new world. I will continue reading because there are a lot of answered questions and I am curious to how the brother's books will play out. The story is between Coraline and Gabriel. He is the oldest son of an Mafia family that are werewolves. She is his chosen mate, a very sweet and caring human. There is a lot going on with warring families and curses and I'm sure as each book comes around more questions will be solved. It is a steamy book and a good start to the series. Can't wait to read the next one.

This has a good storyline
I read this book because of the blurb and good reviews. It has a good storyline and a slow building of the Dupree history. This family has been cursed by another family, however the curse has specifics to it that the Patriarch doesn’t share with his sons until now. Each brother has to find a mate and soon. This book focuses on Gabriel, the eldest son. He is drawn to a quirky woman named Coraline. Their first meeting is Gabriel saving Coraline from some bad guys as she is leaving her veterinary clinic. There are triggers and domestic discipline- I mention this because I always read where potential readers like to know this in advance. Read On if you like this alpha dominant possessive romance genre.

This was the second book I read by Piper Stone. I didn’t really like the first one and unfortunately this one wasn’t much better to me. There is a lot of talk about the special connection between the MC’s but there is no showing of that connection. They don’t seem to like each other for most of the book.
I listened to the audio of this book and didn’t really like the narration. Both the male and the female narrators made weird pauzes in their sentences and some of it seemed unedited as they said the same sentence 2-3 times over. This was also the first audiobook for me that included ‘sound effects’ like gunshots, howling, barking etc. I thought it didn’t fit and distracted me from the story.
I guess this author just isn’t for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

unique and very interesting
I’m so impressed with this story of a Mafia Shifter. I’ve never encountered a story about a Mafia and family of Shifters all in one.
Gabrielle Dupree and his family were cursed and time is running out. He has to find his mate before the two blue moon is done. Enter Coralline the vet who just opened her practice in her hometown. Their encounter was unconventional but fate intervened so they will find each other and fulfill their destiny.
The story is a stand alone but the search for the person or family who is responsible for the curse in the Dupree family goes on.. So on to the next book.

1. The hero is betrayed or turned against by one of his men.
2. The plot and curse is explained, so the reader has now skimmed pages of this information for the fourth time.
3. Hero meets his mate, usually saving her from a bad guy, but denies the connection.
4. Hero has sex with mate, dubcon- massive body betrayal syndrome, spanking for punishment. “Oh, oh, oh” is the girl’s climax in every book.
5. Hero has anal sex with mate, no lube no preparation but it’s somehow enjoyable?
6. Hero forces heroine to move in with him, must obey him and follow rules.
7. Heroine learns about the curse, falls in love, hero loves her back.
8. Hero completes mating by knotting.

What an incredible story. Combining a mafia romance and a shifter romance...wow. I feel like this is by far my most favorite that Piper has written. Coralie and Gabriel were beautiful. The sexy scenes were steamy and hot. They weren't overdone and repetitive. The storyline was so good and kept me going page after page anxious to know what was going to happen. I'm eager to see what happens with this curse and the impact it will have on the other Dupree brothers. Especially Dax...or Dex...crap I can't remember his name.
