It is often said that business and honesty never go hand in hand, it is also said that spirituality and materialism never go well together. There are countless such half baked stories and rumours around various industries and industrious people. The life of Mr. Govind Dholakia is of remarkable importance in this field. Written in a storytelling format 'Diamonds Are Forever, So Are Morals' holds the true secrets of having a fulfilling, rich life yet still not getting attached to the material things. In this autobiography we learn deeply about his moral ethos, belief system and the driving force to be of service to the humankind as the author narrates us through his colourful and profound life. It is a book to read, learn, grow and strengthen the spiritual bonds and human connections together.
It is very difficult to be critical of a book which holds very personal details such as a memoir or in this case an autobiography. Reading this book and thinking about it from every possible perspectives it became clear to me that Mr. Dholakia is a very strong willed, determined and ambitious person. He is a very focused and mindful person who has found his repertoire in spirituality and by being of service to others. And this has been portrayed wonderfully through the writing. Being from a humble background his journey to success is both enthralling and inspiring. He struck to me as a lifelong learner with deep sense of spirituality and a kind heart. The story mainly revolves around his diamond industry ventures and occasionally includes other meaningful events. But each event brings us with a lesson to learn from it.
Although the writing is good, written in a good flow, it lacks construction. The chapters does not follow any proper timeline of events so it seems much is happening in a very short period of time. Other than that the frequently changing timelines sometimes makes it difficult to follow the story. But this book has presented so many spiritual wisdom to take and apply and has strengthened my belief system even more.

His life story is an inspiring tale of how a farmer's son and a school dropout became a billionaire employing 5000 people earning over a million dollars every month. Mr. Dholakia has made a name for himself in the diamond industry and fraternity and his autobiography gives us a candid and close view of how he did it and who he is as a person.
You will be amazed to see how such an influential person who is honored and well known by industrialists like Ambani, politicians like our PM Modi is so grounded and believes that morals and ethics are everything. His philosophy of life is rooted in ethics and spirituality which is something to learn and adopt in life. The book is interesting and inspiring to read. It is written simply, in layman's language making it easy to read for everyone. I liked watching the photo album that was there in the book, it was like cherry on cake.

This book follows Mr. Dholakia's extraordinary journey which began from polishing rough diamonds to creating facilities to cut & polish them, and trading them as gems.
We get to know several aspects of his life and about some unique qualities he possessed. One of them was that he loved to learn and recite verses from Bhagavad Gita. And throughout the book, we can witness the profound impact of Bhagavad Gita on his life.
Mr. Dholakia had very early in his life learned to incorporate and implement the great lessons mentioned in Gita, which helped him a lot in making crucial decisions.
I really enjoyed reading the profound shlokas from Upanishads and Puranas, mentioned in this book.☺️ There are so many epic stories from Vishnu Puran and other scriptures which Govind Ji had learned in his childhood, and have been mentioned in this book.
It was also so amazing and exciting to read about his very interesting meetings with some of my idols, like Mr. Ratan Tata and Mr. Sarabhai.
Of course, you will get to read about so many other dignitaries too in this amazing book! The inclusion of photos from some of his most memorable meetings made this so much more exciting to read!☺️

Diamonds are forever and so are morals, when I picked up this book I had little knowledge about him, I googled him but there is not much information available all it says is that he is the Executive Chairman and Founder of Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd
But as I turned all these pages, I got inspired by him, his story from rags to riches is so inspiring and motivating, After each and every page it turned interesting as well as inspiring. I have recently got a hang of memoirs and to be honest, I am loving this, I want to read more autobiographies by Indians.
Govind Dholakia, a diamond tycoon, was born in the village of Gujrat along with his brothers and sisters. It was a little later when he shifted to Surat, Gujrat and a little later started Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt Ltd. He is a man of deep faith as we can see in the phrases of verses of the Bhagavad Gita, He created a billion-dollar company and made India an epicentre of trade and exports of diamonds.
I would suggest this book to everyone out there who wants to read a business memoir or is looking for an inspirational book.

I don’t recognize the man smiling on the cover. I’ve never heard his name, never thought he’ll be popular enough to write an autobiography about. But after finishing the incredible journey this person undertook, I stand corrected.
This is the life tale of how a farmer’s son and a school dropout goes on to become Sir Govind Dholakia, The Executive Chairman and Founder of Shri Ramkrishna Exports Pvt Ltd. (SRK), the world's largest diamond crafting and export company. At a very young age, he has to run the risk of continuing the path put forward by following his family’s footsteps or carving a new one. It makes him take a leap of faith which lands him into the diamond industry where he diligently works his way up and beyond.
While this book is definitely a motivational read for all, I would recommend it more to teenagers, mainly because that’s the time we make a crossover to adulthood. Hence reading about someone who purposefully forged his own aisle would prove to be an exemplary inspiration on budding young minds. The effortless writing style provides for a very laid back read where you can relish each moment of the protagonist’s life. There are numerous mentions of Shlokas from Bhagavad Gita for the most part because of his ardent belief in The Divinity. The beauty of it all resides in the fact that even after getting counted among the most influential people in the country, this autobiography depicts that this living legend is grounded and remembers his roots.

There are very few books that attracts you not just on the basis of their exciting blurb but their unique title as well. When I come across this novel its title seem very different to me and hence I couldn't stop myself from picking it up.
The book is an autobiography of Shree Govind Dholakia. Many of you might not have heard of him because we are too focused on taking a cue from foreign leaders and not our very own. He is someone who rose from humble beginnings as a farmer but his resilience, determination and never say die attitude made him reach the heights of success . He eventually become capable enough to even employ thousands of workers thereby giving them a means of livelihood.
The biggest learning which one can gain out of this work is irrespective of the success he achieved he always believed in ethics and come across as a person of integrity. In the current scenario when most believe in the saying " The End Justifies The Means" ,he thinks otherwise and is a welcoming change to the common notion. The story is written in a very simple comprehensible language and paves way for a much better future for everyone.
Overall a book that can help you become a better version of your own self.

This is a biography about Govid Dholakia, who has accomplished a lot throughout his life and also given back to the world making it a better place.
First of all, I cherished the narrative writing style in this book. The journey of his life was wonderfully written breaking the usual stereotypes of an autobiography. On reading this book one can get a glimpse of his personal life and there are a lot of primary moral and family values embedded all throughout his life, that could be an inspiration for us readers.
I really love the way the book gives us more information about diamond industry. Antwerp is the capital of Diamond trade and the book describes his journey to Antwerp and all the other places he had travelled. It was super exciting to know more about diamonds. Oh! This book has a lot of history about India and I really loved getting to know that.
Mr.Govind’s journey from being a farmer’s son to one of the most accomplished businessman in diamond industry was quite interesting and insightful.
I would happily recommend this book to someone who is looking for an inspiring real life story. I’m sure this book will make you realize the importance of ethics, family values, touch with God and what not!

As it’s mentioned in title, this book is an autobiography. I belong from Surat that is called Diamond city so this title fascinated me the most. I will briefly summarise my point if view here. He was born in Kathiyawad among seven siblings. His mother was a wonderful cook and father was mostly out in fields. His childhood was painful in sense because he had fever, crushed fingers, etc. and back then there was no latest medical facilities in villages. He studied his basic education in Dudhala. All the childhood incidents are interesting to read. In the next phase, there is discussion about Surat. Like Surat have been fascinated place in all migrants. And it was fun for me reading about Surat. I liked his journey. I can’t discuss further here because of word limitations and the spoilers. But I loved the book. It was written in interesting and captivating manner. The language of the book is lucid so that everyone can pick it up. It’s indeed like every person has some extra ordinary tale to share. Overall quite an interesting read. Loved it.

Every autobiography has tremendous power to share the key lessons and transform the vibes and mind. This book shows the strength of his life as a leading to icon, family oriented person and friends. The way he has carried his leading diamond business at global level in the same manner his articulation of values has been measured for future growth.
One of the important aspect of organisation is level of communication with customers to understand them and their scenario to capture their needs and Govindbhai has focused on CRM concept to develop the two-way approach with the customers which has impacted a better and healthy business.
It was really a good opportunity to read on such tycoon & his learnings.

This book is the autobiography of Govind Dholakia depicting the various stages of his life. The book was filled with a lot of goosebumps-inducing and inspirational sections, and it also has a lot of Professional Sutras. Most people make good-faith efforts to uphold morals, and corporate ethics, and achieve the greater good. The book's language is quite straightforward, and the action moves along quite well. The life of a businessman is perfectly depicted in this novel, along with his moral principles. I'd definitely recommend this book as it changes our mindset and perspectives.

Whatever teachings Govind learned he brought them to his life. He has shared his achievements, family, experiences, and philosophy of life which he calls the Triveni of life. He was one of the successful businessmen who always stayed kind, morally decent human being.
I have read many autobiographies but this was unique and inspiring as I learned much from it. Govind has shared some shlokas’ from Bhagavat-Gita in every chapter. Diamond is a solid form of the element carbon with its atoms arranged in a crystal structure. I never laid much emphasis to diamonds in real-life. I know they are costly & beyond my reach, so I never paid any real attention to their detail except the fact that it has an impressive combination of chemical, physical, mechanical properties & unrivalled thermal conductivity . That's the very same reason I felt a bit skeptical at first to pick up this book. However, once I delved into it, I learned many uncanny things. Besides the things mentioned above which I knew already, what I didn't know is that diamonds are associated with strength, love & health. They've been worn by leaders or power figures to symbolise strength & invincibility. Similarly, a person's moral character, ethical values & convictions never change with time. One whose values change constantly is like a chameleon.
For centuries, diamonds have been widely known as the universal symbol of eternal love & commitment. Also, diamond is an energy amplifier. It is a stone that never requires recharging. It will bring strength & endurance to all energies & will enhance the power of other crystals. They m are multifaceted with various degrees of color & clarity. Therefore, for women diamonds hold a great deal of importance in them. It makes them feel loved, special & makes them feel valuable towards you. I heard him first on YouTube when his video came up in feed suddenly. And as always, I was interested in learning from the experience of others, especially when they're 50+ as they often give advice that others can't, so I listened to him and became a fan of his thoughts and clarity.
This is what I admire most about elders, who speak from a gentle and kind heart along with a stable, sharp, and intelligent mind, making it a perfect blend for anyone who needs to listen to and learn from life experiences.
And as soon as I learned about his book, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Finally, when I got the opportunity to read this, it was worth a lot more than that. It's not about the life & events shared by a businessman with some tips, but about a human who went through all those situations and met all those people, which made him a humble human with a focus on morals, seva, and bhakti even after achieving something most people can't even dream about. It's not easy or common to find.
I may sound like I am praising a lot, but I am actually doing that consciously, as this is what we all should focus on and have as a future goal to achieve. {Lakshmi and Saraswati can't stay together. Money and intelligence, or money and peace, can't stay together, is what people always say, but when you are learning from Ganeshji and Vishnuji, you are bound to get both. It's not easy, but it still seems easy to handle even after all those hurdles that come in between.
I'm happy to have found this gem. It has a lot of learnings and works as a case study for all those who wish to understand how one can achieve success from the ground up and still stay grounded after that, along with handling problems in between. The writing is good, but maybe because there are two authors here, it jumps from one timeline to another in between, but that's not a problem for me.
There can be information overload for someone who is not fully interested, but many pictures in between give freshness to the read. The Hardcovers are my obsession and weakness, and that's why I was able to complete them easily.
Also, as I come from the same city and state where the story revolves, it was an easy and interesting read for me. The Sanskrut slokas in between were the icing on the cake. And Dongreji Maharaj (Bhagwat Kathakar) was the best part of the book. I have been listening to his Katha since the time I was in my mother's womb.

💎He talks about his life experiences, about how coincidentally he started off with working as a polisher of rough diamonds and thereafter how things happened one after the other, some naturally and effortlessly while some by putting in his willing hardwork and his undying enthusiasm to make his life a worthy one.
💎I liked how Govind sir was so very honest and upright when it came to his work and in life as general; I believe it is his honesty that played a major role in getting him this far.
💎Moreover, He not only kept the wealth for himself but distributed it among people in need and helped numerous people in their hardships without ever showcasing the same and that I think is a mark a good-hearted person who used his fortune correctly; for the cumulative growth of the society.
💎I also found it utterly remarkable of how he maintained good relations with everyone that came in his proximity and cherished friendships even after the friend had left for his heavenly abode. Maintaining a friendship which extends to the whole family and securing their well-being, even when that friend is no more, is what i believe, a mark of a True Friend.

An Autobiography of Diamond Tycoon Govind Dholakia, founder and chairman of Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt.Ltd, a Diamond manufacturing and exporting company was indeed a remarkable read. Honestly, it felt so wonderful to read his book personally.
The book is about how a farmer's son and a school dropout became a billionaire employing 5000 people earning over a million dollars every month. The book shows many pictures of him with great leaders and his entire family with close friends. It shows us a detailed scenario of successful people from scratch and teaches us many aspects of life. How he went through real-life problems and thrived brings so much positive energy and hope.
The best part was:
Each chapter starts with the shloka from Bhagvat Geeta which defines the core of each chapter and Mr. Dholakia's vision. He is a hardcore spiritual person who has founded many spiritual associations which help many people in their lives.
He never allowed success to take over his spiritual and cultural being which makes him a great inspiration. The verses of Geeta given in every chapter make this book mesmerizing. Also, the pictures are there to catch the glimpses of his life.
Being one of the greatest achievers and a successful entrepreneur he is still very connected to his culture and spiritual quotient. How devoted Govindji is, by the quotes mentioned all over in the book from Bhagvat Gita, Shree RamCharitManas, and other holy scriptures.
I got to learn a lot from this book and I'll be taking away all of those things with me and trying to apply them as much as I can.

But in this book, we can not only read the success story of Govind Ji or his highs and lows alone, but we will also get to know the importance of having a family that supports and encourages you to pursue your dreams and friends who always have your back. This book highlights the key roles that these relationships play in our lives, whether they are personal or professional. Not just that, in this book we will also get to know about the relationship between the owner, co-workers, and workers. The ideas and strategies taken by Govind Ji are very inspirational. I'm glad that we got to know about the business aspect as well in the book, not just the story of his becoming a great businessman by mentioning the circumstances he faced. I am a middle minded person when it comes to autobiographies. I do love the ones which aren't too preachy. So, I was in kind of two minds about this one, it did seem a little preachy and pompous to me at the beginning but let me tell you that it was all an illusion, I loved the vibe of this life story.

So this is Govind Kaka, aka, Mr. Govind Dholakia s magnificent life tale. How, a man from a simple background, he created an empire to become the largest exporter of diamonds, start an airline and gain worldwide recognition.

The story is so well told ( author has co-written Wings of Fire, so yeah, you get it!), interspersed with Govind ji s deep spiritual connection, hence, bits from the Bhagavad Gita. I loved the bits from his childhood and how he honors his mother ( went on to name an award on her) to how he goes clandestinely to see his bride.
The Taj Mahal hotel incidence was also so heartfelt for me, so between the 10 structured chapters of the book, the first ones are the ones I loves most.

The details of starting as diamond cutter, getting rough diamonds, to De beers campaign, there is seamless transition from story to solid information. Because he s a living legend, many of the current scenarios, like the earthquake at Bhuj too comes up and we can relate to it.

I think he s been God s child though, at the start there is these 3 principles mentioned and I think together with his devout nature, ability to stay honest and work hard with kindness is what has primarily brought on this magnificent a live.
A man unknown to me, has really, left a mark on me. He s brought fame and revenue to our country and honors his humble roots. The strength of family bonds is so well in this story of his life that it makes me yearn for such a one. The scence where his mother dies and all of the family is together and then the yearly family reunions pulled at the right strings of my heart.

Overall, definitely if you are a fan of autobiographies, a must read and keep. Even if not a fan, a book worth reading!

After a long time I have read an autobiography that made me feel more alive and generous towards life. If I have to describe him in words it will never get to an end.
When I started reading this book I was getting the vibes of our missile man Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam lately I came to know this is written by the same person who co- authored his autobiography "Wings of Fire" —Arun Tiwari.
In this book you are going to witness the most fundamentals and explicitly embedded roots of our lifestyles. These are family bonding and unity, believe in God and indeed the morals.
The narration of life which provides the nuggets of wisdom is something we all aspire to learn and apply in our life too. This book can give you the depth of how to stand on your vision and envisage with full confidence. Govind kaka as everyone denotes him like this has imparted a great path for youth and those who want to build skyscrapers from the sands.
His life tour can give you insights on how to deal and look towards your hardship but not make you walk in the same shoe as it reflects we have different paths and situations to overcome and pursue.

The way the author describes the stories of his personal experiences from his childhood days to the biggest exporter of Diamond is quite commendable. My goodness i can simply call this the best book I've read this year. To be honest it has everything a book needs to be good and wonderful. So 1st thing it's story content. Story was not the best thing i liked about this book it was actually the portrayal of such a great personality into story that it literally felt like i was reading more than just a book. This is not just a story to read it is a story to live in, to get inspire from it, to understand the means of patience & hard work in life, we can understand all of this from Govind ji's journey.
Each chapter of the book contains verses form Bhagvat Gita which will surely attract your mind. The book is written with a very fluid narration and i didn't have even a single issue while reading it. Actually I'll say this book has one of the most simplified narration I've read it is written with very easy to understand language too which just make it even more wonderful.
This is simply a must read for everyone. You'll surely learnt a lot from this book.
Conclusion -: If you read biographies & books related to real life personalities to get inspire then this book surely deserve your time. It literally has everything that a good book need but the most important thing is the content & inspiration it provide in it.

My latest read is basically an autobiography.
It is the life story of Govind Dholakia who for the unversed, is a very popular diamond baron based in India.
It is often said that success is the measure of the heights you achieve while being as right as you can, while maintaining as much dignity as you can, while not losing yourself in the process.
This book tells a story revolving around all such definitions.
It tells you how a person with such a humble beginning managed to attain such great heights The journey of reaching a place, which many can just dream of, leads to discovering multiple identities within oneself. This book makes you walk through the changes a person undergoes in the pursuit of his goals.
This book has a good amount of inclination towards spirituality.
Govind Dholakia, with the help of this book, conveys the principles of honesty, patience, and modesty. This book revolves around how you can show perseverance and achieve success by living within simple vicinities.
The process of unlearning your preset identities and notions and building new ones along the way is what you'll get to see in this book.
