Get the fuck out of my way, Lincoln,” I mutter under my breath as I stare past him, working so hard not to scream that my words are barely audible.
“No. Jesus, Low. You shouldn’t be going to the prison on a fucking bus. You should at least—”
“I swear to God, if you tell me not to go visit my mom, I’ll kick you in the balls so hard you’ll be a soprano for the rest of your life.”

My hands scrabble for the button and fly of his jeans, and I work them down carefully as our lips stay fused together. His cock is hard and smooth in my palm, and God, I really did miss this.
He’s right.
There is no only.
I could’ve fucked him yesterday, and my hand would still be shaking, still moving over the velvet-smooth skin with ravenous need. I glide my fingers up and down his shaft a few times, and Lincoln’s hips jerk. He shakes his head, a deep noise rumbling in his chest.
“Goddammit, Low. Get on my fucking dick.”

“You’re important to me, Low.” The dark-haired boy licks his lips and his amber eyes darken, as if he can still taste me on his skin. Then he shakes his head, amending his statement. “You’re important to all of us. We won’t let you deal with this shit alone.”
His words and tone, the way he says “all of us”, does something strange to my heart, and my core clenches hard around him, making him groan and tighten his grip on my ass. Thoughts of the other three kings of Linwood—of the way they look at me, talk to me, and touch me—filter through my head, sending a cascade of emotions through me.
“No more secrets, right?” I murmur, catching Linc’s gaze.
He cocks his head, narrowing his eyes. “Right.”
“Then can I ask you something?”
“Anything.”
“Have the four of you ever… shared?”

I swallow down the lump in my throat, grinning back at Chase. “Thanks.”
He waggles his eyebrows, loosening his tie before pulling it off entirely. When he starts unbuttoning his shirt, I glance at the other guys to see that they’re all doing the same.
“Um, what…?”
“You can’t really have a pool party without getting in the pool, Low,” Chase tells me, as if that should be perfectly fucking obvious.
He finishes unbuttoning his shirt and tugs the ends from his slacks.
The others are all doing the same, and when River’s hands move to unbuckle his belt and flick the button open on his pants, my heart rate kicks up into high gear.
He kicks off his shoes, leaving his pants unbuttoned and unzipped while he reaches down to tug off his socks. And then the pants go too, and he’s left in nothing but a pair of nice black boxer briefs that leave way too little to the imagination.
My teeth clamp down hard on my bottom lip as I watch, waiting to see if anything else is going to come off, torn between hope and panic at the thought that it might.
“Dude. I think your dick hypnotized her,” Chase says with a laugh, and my entire body jerks as I rip my gaze away from River’s crotch.
Motherfucker. I was full-on staring at his dick, like I was waiting for it to do a magic trick.
Or… something.
A heavy flush makes my face burn, and I shake my head, about to call Chase out for being an asshole—but when I glance over at him, there’s so much heat in his eyes alongside the humor that the words die on my lips. My flush grows deeper, but now the reason for it is entirely different.
All the guys stopped at their underwear, not taking off more than that.

Lincoln’s hands find mine, and he tangles our fingers together, tugging me a little closer to him. The pool water is cool, but I can feel the heat of four large male bodies filling the space around me, and when Linc’s chest brushes against mine, my nipples harden instantly.
He’s directly in front of me, capturing me with his steady, enigmatic amber gaze. The twins ended up on either side of me, sandwiching me like they did the night I kissed Chase.
River is behind me, and it’s his hands that I feel first, resting lightly on the swell of my hips. Then Dax’s fingertips run down my arm under the water, and the light touch makes me shiver.

As I watch, he rises in a smooth movement, and it turns my blood to ice.
The man in the mask. The man in the dark car who slammed into Iris and then checked to make sure she was dead before speeding off into the night—he moved like that.
If I hadn’t seen the fox first, I might not have noticed it or might have brushed it off.
But I did see it. The fucking thing is still staring at me with its beady, dead eyes. And I know that this time, I’m not wrong.
Judge Hollowell killed Iris.
He strides toward me, his socked feet as silent as a predator’s on the polished hardwood floor. His brows are still drawn together and oh, fuck, does he know that I know?

The tale continues... and there is a lot of drama... a little bit more steam and some nice twists and turns on the plot. The storyline is a little predictable for me, somehow I knew the culprit from the first book and at the end of this one, I was like "Yup, it's him!. Whatever... I'm going to read the last book in the series, I can't wait to see how it will unravel!

This book is the second one in the Kings of Linwood Academy series and I enjoyed it very much!

The relationship between Harlow and the boys deepens in this book and it is so cute. I loved how supportive the friends are to one another and how they back each other up no matter what.

In this book, the boys and Harlow continue to search for the man in the ski mask who killed Iris.

With Harlow’s mother in jail, Harlow is extremely stressed out. She misses school, faces stress when it comes to schoolwork, and is balancing her relations - while still trying to get her mother out of prison.

As the boys + Harlow are closer to finding the real murderer, their connections to one another continue to strengthen. I am so looking forward to the third/final book of this series and cannot wait to find out about the truth regarding Iris’ murder. x

Waste of time

So this is the part where it's suppose to start getting spicier and more interesting. Yet it was mediocre at best this so called reverse harem is a joke, but what really irritated me the most was this so called b.s. case against her mom. She claims at one point in the story if her mom only had an alibi, her mother was on a date the night of Iris' murder with a freaking judge so why wouldn't she have an alibi?! When they suspected Lincoln's dad she was sure she had him figured out but when Lincoln called and told her it couldn't be his dad that it was a different woman that he knocked up and she showed up that very same day demanding money. He also said that his dad couldn't have been the one to kill iris because he was with this same woman negotiating blackmail payments. Okay that right there is what you call an uncredible (not sure if that's the correct word) witness that wouldn't stand up in court. But a highly respected judge that would be more believable then this blackmailing chick. Agh I know it's all fantasy but really if you're gonna try and write a mystery plot try and make it some what believable!

Eek.
Okay I liked the first book. It had some minor issues but it was progressing quite well.
I don’t know what happened here.
So Harlow’s mom gets arrested for murdering Iris, which we know she didn’t do and it’s obviously a set up.
But then it was kind of just a series of unfortunate events that Harlow complains about.

I want to say the writing is good, and it is, but....I have never felt like the use of big words was so nugatory. See what I did there.
I am not the most educated person, obviously. Honestly though I really enjoy books that use big $20 words, when they’re used correctly and in a fitting story/dialogue. I’ve enjoyed expanding my vocabulary over the years reading, this however is not a fitting story.

Another issue, the whole “kings of Linwood” bit. Nothing about these boys was in any way “alpha” or important. In all reality they are very much boys. They aren’t “Kings” or any type of leaders. They have no power. Just rich parents and not even the richest parents. No one at any time ever refers to them as the kings though, just Harlow with no explanation.

Around 50% the boys are suddenly referred to by their features and not their names quite often. “The dark haired boy, the blue eyed boy, the brown haired boy..etc”
Totally a conspiracy theory here but I honestly kept thinking like someone else wrote this story and the author just had to edit the prewritten story with the names she chose and ended up missing a few.
Really though, I have no idea what the reason was for this. It didn’t make the story easier to understand nor did it add anything to the story itself other than difficulty. I had no idea which boy was being referenced and no real frame of reference to do so as they had been explained in the first book and named since.

Chase and Dax’s humor in many ways saved this one, but they were still very much tossed to the side as barely supporting roles compared to Lincoln and Rivers being more important.
We have a couple more sex scenes, like literally 2. At this rate there will be 2 more books for her to have sex with the brothers. The author does have a trend going here. Detailed sex the first maybe second time, but all hook ups are just casually mentioned after the fact. Oh we had sex BUT THEN..

Overall I am pretty sad this fell through for me. I just feel so much is very underdeveloped and won’t be continuing it for that reason.

this is the third book i’ve finished today, so it’s easy to see that this series has hooked me. is the storyline a little attainable? sure. the likely hold that freaking high schoolers are in a RH relationship is basically nonexistent. but i’m still eating this series up. the plot is intriguing to me and that ending was another cliffhanger that will have me tearing in the final book as soon as i finish this review. i think there is something in these books because i don’t feel like they are absolutely amazing, but i cannot stop reading them. ecstatic to see how the story is all wrapped up!

”What if this is the beginning of something incredible.”

That line just sums up the whole book, because this series is incredible!

The Lie is Book two in the Kings of Linwood series and I can’t get enough of this plot and these boys!!

The angst, the suspense, the lies, mystery and betrayal had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put this book down.

I had my theories about what was going to happen just like with book 1... were any of them correct though? HELL NO 😂 I was way off base but I love that because when I read what actually happened I didn’t know whether to slow clap Callie Rose or shout at her!

I need more words! I need book 3! I can’t take the anticipation of what is to come.

Also those damn boys! *FANS SELF*

I want to go swimming in the deep end with the Kings of Linwood... when you read this book you’ll get what I mean and you’ll want too as well! Holy hell!!

Read this series. Right now

Not as entertaining as the first book. The ‘romance’ is pretty stale mostly because the rh aspect is nowhere near equal and it’s awkward at times. The twins especially just read as one person and their main characteristics are dumb and sweet 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think it’s important in an rh to make everyone really distinct and interesting and the author is not doing that. I like a slow build up and getting to know each guy, but it just feels like Lincoln is in a relationship with Harlow and kind of slowly authorizing all interactions between her and his friends…idk it’s just strange, not really my jam.

And I’m certainly not reading this book for the plot 😅 but the lackluster romance/smut leaves me with a ridiculous murder mystery situation which btw before half way through I realized who the real killer was (not who I thought at the end of book 1, whoops). *slight spoilers from here* And I’m honestly annoyed about the whole her mom’s in jail situation bc these boys aren’t really doing anything helpful. Sure they’re all trying to figure out who the killer is, but the author’s being a little realistic and these teenagers are not good detectives (shocking). But Harlow is essentially dating 4 extremely wealthy boys mean while her mom can’t afford a decent lawyer so she’s stuck with a shitty public defender all while these boys are throwing money around like it’s nothing. Not once do they offer or does she ask for money for her mom…like it’s the least they could do, Harlow is super upset about it and it would make a huge difference but okay… I’ve also yet to hear a motive for this premeditated murder of a pregnant teenager that makes sense for a why a single mom who’s new to town and doesn’t know her at all would be driven to murder? But go off police men👏 great job. So basically nothing makes sense and, let’s be real, for this kind of book I didn’t expect it too, but I’m a little disappointed by this series. I’m wondering what about her other series I loved so much and just wanting to reread that at this point but alas I’m invested so I will be reading book 3 immediately so I can assuage my curiosity ✌️

HECK. YES! I have been on pins and needles impatiently waiting on the second installment to The Help and I was NOT disappointed in this story! It follows up from the last book where Harlow's mother went to jail for a crime she did not commit.
*SPOILERS*
Harlow, Lincoln, Dax, Chase and River actually seen the person responsible for killing Iris but somehow, there is evidence pointing to her mother for the crime. So during thew book, they all try to find out clues to whether or not Lincolns dad was actually involved. They pieced together the paternity test in the drawer was probably Iris's and Savannah leaked that before Iris died, she was "seeing" a gray fox. An older man. & since they found evidence on Harlow's mothers car, everything pointed to Lincolns dad. Let me just say, I was shocked to see what happened at the end and now the evidence is pointing at someone else and NOT Lincolns dad. Also during the book, Lincoln got worried for Harlow's safety and had her move in with River and once that set things in motion, it got HEATED.
Harlow+ River=HOT
Harlow+River+Dax+Chase+Lincoln in the pool=HOT
Harlow+River+all the boys watching=SUPER HOT
LOVED THIS BOOK AND ONCE AGAIN CANNOT WAIT FOR BOOK 3!!!!

MINOR SPOILERS THROUGHOUT:
I loved this book! It was a great sequel that I could not put down for the life of me. I finished it in one sitting! Everything I loved about the first book: the romance, the intrigue, the murder and mystery, and the heat were all pushed to another level in this book! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and the cliffhanger at the end left me reeling! I am DYING to start the next book and see how this story will end!

What I Didn’t Like- The only problem I had with this book was the development of Dax and Chase. I don’t know if the author is just holding off until the last book, but I feel like the twins have been really underdeveloped. They come across as flat and I couldn’t really tell a difference between the two in personality, as of right now.

Omg! Callie has gone and done it again. She ripped out my heart, put it back together again, just to give me a heart attack! Hahaha. This book gave me so many feels, and as the complicated web she is spinning regarding this murder case, and everyone’s hidden agendas gets more shrouded in mystery I get more and more invested!

There were steamy sex scenes, lovey feels, angry feels, bullshit bullies, suspected murderers, etc! What more could you ask for?! I’m dying to read the third book after that cliffy!

Callie is one of my favorite authors at this point, I have ready every single one of her books and I am continuously just becoming more obsessed with her writing. 10/10 would recommend!

I absolutely love the story that Callie Rose have woven into these pages. She pays great attention to detail, and she delivers a story that kept me on the edge throughout. If it wasn't for the audio narrator and FMC, this would be a definite 5 star read.

However, unfortunately I cannot get over Harlow. She's a typical Mary Sue / Special Snowflake in distress. It's all about her; her wants, her needs..... she's not above pointing fingers at one of her men's parent to save her own mother. She doesn't even take the time to make sure what she's saying really makes sense or to find proof, as long as she can save her own hide.

The way she keeps going on and on about what she owes her mother is downright cringe worthy. I mean; who owes their own mother for keeping them alive? Yes Harlow dearest is a cancer survivor, and feel indebted to her own MOTHER for providing her with medical care. Just ugh!!. I know she's a teenager and in that regards Callie's nailed it, because her mind is very "me, myself & my mom". But I still find it hard to find her likable with that Titanic shaped chip on her shoulder!

However, the plot is where Callie's writing really shines and it's why I'll be continuing this series <3

For real, I am about fed up with the cliff hangers...dangit it all, I am greedy and I want it all NOW.LOl Anyways, this is turning out to be such a good series, and I am LOVING it. Straight up, while it is a bully RH book as I am want to read on the constant, it's different, there is some major suspense, and not as much sex as one would think. There is for sure language, and sex, but yeah it's like light, so it's not thrust down your throat....see what I did there? Puns...I got em.
Anyways this second book has more of a twist to it than even the first one, and it keeps you reading until all hours of the night. The characters are great and mesh really well, there is some humor thrown in, but not a whole lot. The world in which these characters live is very rich, and elite, so totally not relatable, BUT, it does make you want to read the heck out of it. This story is told in 1st person pov.

Good

Was a good read, I enjoyed it, a lot of her inner dialogue I skipped through because to me it just felt boring like it was way way too much of boring shit but that was for me, would have preferred more talking with the boys but most of the book is more of her inner dialogue. Anyway was a good story line could have been better, interested to read the last book to see where the story goes.

I am absolutely loving this series. If you thought that book one, The Help, was good. Wait til you read The Lie. Which was previously named The Game. As you know so much happens in The Help. We meet our lead characters Harlow, Lincoln, River, Dax and Chase. And you are going to love Harlow as a female lead. She is strong, smart, funny and loyal. The guys, you will hate to love them, and then if you're like me, just love them. And then maybe hate them again.

In The Lie, we pick up where book one left off. That was a big cliffy so I was anxious to see what happens. I was not disappointed. The start of The Lie has Harlow very upset with the guys. The question is how can they possibly win her back. You definitely have to see why they did what they did. Which I have to say, I was like why didn't I see that? The story itself is full of suspense. How can Harlow find out who is framing her mom, to who could possible by the killer. We get a surprise suspect, which I could totally see as the bad guy. Well done Callie on throwing us for loops. The guys are back in full force here. I have to say that poker game was smoking hot!! Prepare yourself!! There is a cliffhanger, but in my opinion leads into book three The Risk, nicely!

Wow.... that damn ending..... fuck i actually never saw that coming!! This series has been a total ride so far. Im loving the characters, the boys are swoon worthy. Harlow is amazing, and and the relationship with her mother is so relatable for me. Seriously these books keep me on the edge of my seat. I need the ending like right now. I cant wait to see how she wraps this all up.

The Lie, By Callie Rose.

A reverse harem thats not too in your face with 4 completely great guys.

A bully romance that just sucks you in and is a reall page turne.

And we also have muerder mystery aswell.

This was a complete step up from book 1.

I really enjoyed book 1, but this one is so much more.

The story flowed nicely, its written very well. After the ending in book 1 i was completely unsure of how this was going to go. I didn't expect the fantastic dynamic that The Lie bought us. The guys are just great. I loved the RH side of this as well. It really did deliver.

What an ending as well! I totally knew who the murderer was going to be, So that came as no suprise. But i feel Harlow is now in a very sticky situation. I can't wait to see how that pans out in the next book.

Overall really good read and has left me desperately wanting book 3.

5 stars from me and well deserved.

Holy Cow!!!!! Callie did not disappoint in the second installment whatsoever! Harlow is crazy strong and extremely smart. Throughout the entire book you can almost feel the fear, anger, and dread surrounding her mother and their current predicament. Yet, on the otherhand Harlow is still able to show trust, accountability, determination, and above all else love! I’m speechless after finishing this lovely book! The cliffhanger is a killer, but one perfectly designed to have you on your knees begging for more!!!

Amazing.....I need more!

Wow.....just wow! Now that’s what call a cliffhanger. I love twist and turns of this story. An the development of characters as we get to know them better. It makes me respect the relationships and trust they have for one another. I can’t honestly wait for the next book ‘The Risk’. I have feeling it’s going to be epic
