Madeline Jourdain is starting a new life in New Orleans, Louisiana. Despite being paralyzed from the waist down, she has always been popular and smart, recently graduating from college. She has been blessed with adoring parents and friends who saw Madeline’s true self, beyond her disability. But deep down, Madeline longed for something she never knew she missed. With a touch of a welcoming hand, Madeline’s heart opens to find true love. With an opening of a book, Madeline discovers the magic lying dormant in her, as magic is reintroduced throughout the world. This fills Madeline’s heart with more possibilities but also more danger than she could ever have imagined. With help from witches, storm giants, and a Pixie named Charlie, Madeline learns about true love, magic, and even dragons.
Pillars, the first book from the Madeline's Magic, is the first experience I have had the opportunity of reading books by the talented Claire Theriot Mestepey. I am not a huge fan of this genre, however, I thought this one gives me a reason to go outside my comfort zone and read something new. I enjoyed going on this adventure and spending time in a new world with these interesting characters. It was a great read to me. Pillars will be getting a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who love to read magical tales. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment from Madeline's Magic, Realms, to see where else Claire Theriot Mestepey will take their characters to next. I received a digital copy of Claire Theriot Mestepey's Pillars from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
I liked this book as I started to read it overall. The story is well written but does start a bit slow for my taste. The main character is Madeline. Madeline is a girl with a disability but that doesn't stop her from being who she is and giving her limits is a no go. She finds out that she has magic in this story and then is introduced to a whole new world of magic overall. There are so many interesting things in this book to read about: pixies, dragons, magic, and witches to name a few:) I would recommend this read to anyone who is into magical fantasy. I was not familiar with the genre but found myself liking this book as I read it. I am also currious to see what happens after the ending in the next book with Madeline, Danny, Ida, and also Charlie too of course!
Responsible my goodness I could not put this book down it was so imaginative and so edge of your seat. It does develop quite a few characters which are extremely interesting and beautiful. this book just totally blew me away! trying to leave a review with no spoilers but it's when Madeline comes into her own and discovers who she really is that just really makes you not want to put the book down at all. It is a really good read.
This was a great fantasy read! It took me a bit to get into it since it started out a bit slow, but overall it was a good read. I loved the characters and their development throughout the book. This book had a wonderful story and was very well written. If you like books with witches, pixies and dragons you may want to check this one out.
Dragons, pixies, water nymph's and a witch in New Orleans. I was a Girl learning about magic as it comes back into the 2020's. Life is changing in the world races are coming out of hiding. New and old conflicts are now seen. fun read loved it
Interesting read. Most of the fantasy I read is middle grades, and this has that comforting formula. Don't read much adult fantasy, and what I do tends toward the dystopian. This is not that, but the characters have similar adult problems. Good overall.
