My world was dark and cold...until she ignited a spark.

When I left to serve in the military, I had a plan for my life. I saw a future with a wife and kids and all the things my parents have together. But that was before I saw the horrors of combat.

Now I’m back in my small-town working alongside my brother as a firefighter. I’m slowly learning to live again with one very big complication. It comes in the form of a small, feisty, attractive woman who just happens to be the best friend of my brother’s girlfriend. And as fate would have it, she’s also my new neighbor.

Becca Carmichael drives me crazy with her absolute perfection. She’s all I ever wanted before I left to serve. And now, she’s everything I can’t allow myself to have.I’ve tried to keep my distance, because I know I’m not what she needs.

But a spark ignited between us the moment we met and it turned into a burning desire that is getting harder to douse each day.

She needs to stay away from me, but I’m not sure I can stay away from her.

A Broken Hero

It all starts with a hot and emotionally injured fireman. Yeah, Nick is definitely a bit of catnip for any woman that wants to try to heal a man.

I really like how he literally dives into the fray (pool) to protect Becca's modesty. He proves worthy of love and happiness time and again and the attraction with Becca is cute, steamy, and fun - when he isn't pushing her away.

Things don't start that great for Becca either as she's dumped by the guy she considered safe and reliable. Not a bad combination with your partner but sometimes a dog is a better option, as she learns. Of course, having a hunky fireman save you does help ease the pain.

'It doesn’t take long for the growing desire to ignite from a flicker of a flame to the roar of a three-alarm fire.'. -- Becca

Be prepared. Tissues are required on a couple of occasions. 😪🤗

Nick was deployed overseas with the military for a decade. At the end of his deployment things went tragically bad and he’s deeply affected. He deals with PTSD, he isn’t ready to open up about it.
He returns to his family and hometown where he works as a firefighter (again)
Becca is a pediatric/emergency nurse who is friends with Nick’s brother and his girlfriend. They have an immediate attraction, but Nick doesn’t think he’s capable of a healthy relationship and Becca fears she’s never going to have a lasting relationship.
It’s a quick read, it doesn’t go in depth with anything yet I felt like I understood the characters, their fears and hopes.
The sex and romance isn’t slow burn, but the characters do the back and forth dance a bit.
Their chemistry is good, the intimate scenes are hot and sexy.
The characters are likable and I enjoyed the story and their journey.
It was a bit rushed in the sense that it is a short book, there isn’t time for a lot of in depth character or story development.
I think the authors paced it very well. There weren’t scenes I felt were added fluff or unnecessary.
They did give a bit of background on Nick so I felt I understood him and his feelings.
I think it’s a bit too “instalove” for me to fall head over heels. I’m not a fan of insta. I still liked them and wanted them together.
I think both of their jobs being high intensity helped them understand each other. It made me think Becca was a good fit for Nick, she had understanding of PTSD, etc..
Short, lightly emotional and sexy read.
Heavy topics are handled in a way that doesn’t weigh too heavily but still makes an impact.

First off, we have to say that we loved Becca and Nick's story and that this was two brand-new authors for us, and we really enjoyed our first read by them.

We found Becca character to be kind and loving and caring and had she had a heart of gold but, when it comes to her personal life it is a bit of a train wreck, and she seems to be unlucky when it comes to love.

Nick, a former Military man turned firefighter, is suffering from PTSD when he meet the incredibly beautiful Bella. We loved how these two just gravitated toward one another and when they were together they just soothed each other's souls.

The story had a lot of ups and downs, it was emotional and tugged at one heart strings. I have to say we loved the characters, they were awesome and engaging and a lot of fun.

Nick & Becca made had great chemistry, and you knew they would be good for one another they just had to make it happen but, for first meeting Becca we knew the sexy firefighter would not be able to resist her flame!

4 star Review Ignited (Fanning The Flames #2) by S.E. Rose & Sierra Hill

Both S.E. Rose & Sierra Hill are relatively new authors to me. Ignited was an emotional story that ticked a number of boxes for me. There were times that my heart ached for Becca and Nick who has been to war and still struggles with the horrors he saw and PTSD.

Having returned to his small home town he now works as a firefighter along side his broker. His new neighbour Becca is feisty, sassy and frustrates him, even as he is attracted to her. He knows that he has demons and that he dare not bring them into her life and yet there is something that draws her to him.

Despite themselves, the attraction that sizzles between them becomes impossible to ignore and soon ignites. The passion is intense and I loved how their relationship developed once they decided to take a chance. There were moments where I laughed, moments where I was moved to tears but I was cheering for these two to get the happily ever after that they both deserved.

I was immediately drawn to Nick.

Maybe it was everything he had been through, maybe it was the trauma he was still dealing with, maybe it was just him in general. He drew me in, and had my attention throughout the book. It's as though I was waiting for the moment when it was all going to come out, and I wanted to see how he was going to deal with it all.

Becca was a breath of fresh air. She wasn't this perfect character who never had any issues. But while she dealt with her stuff, she was also noticing things with Nick. She could see him for who he was, and what he was struggling with. In addition to all that was happening with Nick, she also had her career. We saw her go through the emotional aspects of her job, and we also witnessed her jumping in when needed later on. She is an amazing woman.

The scene that hit me hardest though was when Nick and Bianca spoke on the phone. That caused tears to fall. The emotions were strong in that scene, and I felt them.

Absolutely loved this book, and I look forward to reading more in this series.

Nick has been serving his country for a decade, but it took a toll on him before he got out because of something traumatic. Now he's home but he's not the same man he used to be. Becca is the best friend of his brother's significant other, and the sparks are flying when they come face to face, but he's suffering from PTSD so he believes that he doesn't deserve her. Things take another turn when he moves in right next door to her and the push & pull game commences, like seriously it was one foot forward & two steps back with him. I mean, everyone knew that they were perfect for each other, and they absolutely generated serious heat when together but again, he has those demons that trigger him at different times. Will he ever get his head out of his behind to see what's in front of him?! This book was awesome, but I have to say the ending was a little abrupt for me but please decide for yourselves by hitting those one click buttons as I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Loved Nick and Becca’s story.
This was an emotional story that made my heart ache.
Nick is still struggling with his PTSD after the war and the death of his best friend. He doesn’t believe that he deserves to be happy and be loved.
Because is sassy and can calm Nicks demons. But doesn’t believe that Nick will allow her to get close enough to take her seriously and give her the family and love she craves.
The attraction between these two is hot and I wanted them to get the HEA they deserve... not the settle for her ex because she can’t do better.
My heart did break for Benca with all the ups and downs because Nick thought he wasn’t good enough.
But once the flame is ignited and fed... who knows what their future holds.

This was a great quick read by these two authors. This was the first book I’ve read by either of them and I enjoyed it! Don’t expect any in depth storylines because the book is pretty short. But if you are looking for a quick read about a hot soldier (Nick) who comes back from overseas fighting his own demons and a sweet nurse (Becca) who feels rejected by all the guys she dates or tries to date, then this is the book for you! I read this in less than a day and it made me want to go back and read the first book in the series about Nick’s brother, Tyler…which I intend to do because I loved all these characters!

Nick has returned home after a decade in the military. A decade overseas where he saw things no one should have to see and lost friends too good to forget. He's trying to settle in back at home and into his new role as a firefighter but his PTS grabs hold and won't let go. The only person who makes him forget, even for a little while, is the beautiful nurse next door, Becca. She's sunshine and lightness and he can't bring himself to taint her with his darkness.

Coming out of a lackluster relationship, Becca spends too much time thinking about the sexy firefighter. They've become good friends and she knows she wants more but she's seen the damage PTS can do. She wants to help him heal but he won't let himself go there. She's not sure how much more of the yo-yo relationship she can handle.

This book was so good and dealt with a really rough subject of post traumatic syndrome. It is an entirely unpredictable hardship that so many of our military and their loved ones endure. (It's definitely not isolated them these groups either!) I love that this author is showing Nick fighting for his happiness. Becca is great for him and supports him while he deals with his past and they understand the trauma associated with both their jobs. I love seeing Nick back with his brothers and building a life! Can't wait to see what's in store for the most mysterious brother, Liam!

Nick just came home after a brutal deployment. He suffers from PTSD and has just got a job being a firefighter with his brother back in his hometown.

Becca is a pediatric nurse and was in long time relationship. Well until her boyfriend breaks up with when her kitchen almost burns down. Lucky for her she has a fire fighter living next door. Who also happens to be her best friends boyfriends brother.
And even though they have lots of sexual chemistry Nick is adamant he is no good for her...

This is a fast paced easy read. Nick had so much emotion baggage that he had to deal with that I understood why he didn't want to get involved. Becca came across as this flighty person who just couldn't get her life sorted. But all she wanted was someone to love her and to have her own family with😊 Lots of drama and chemistry with these two also a nice quick read🥰

This is the second book in this amazing series and is Nick and Becca’s journey. Nick has just returned to his hometown after serving in the military and is working alongside his brother as a firefighter, and Becca is a pediatric nurse who is best friends with his brother’s girlfriend. The sparks fly between these two, but Nick is suffering from PTSD and feels unworthy of being loved. Becca is the light to Nick’s darkness, and she has her own challenges to overcome, but the chemistry between them is combustible and undeniable. This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, with friendships, family, humor, witty banter, insecurities, healing, and love, which leads to an entertaining and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented duo whose work I highly recommend.

In the second book by this writing duo, we get one that hits the emotions. We got touches of Nick in book one, but this is his story. After an injury, Nick has returned from overseas and has brought his demons home with him. Back in his hometown, he has a job alongside his brother Tyler, as a firefighter.

Becca is the best friend of Tyler’s fiancé and the couple from book one. Surprise, she is Nick’s new neighbor, and he keeps getting her out of jams.

Will Nick push Becca away due to the struggles in his mind? Can she be the one to tame those struggles?

I am enjoying this series and cannot wait for the next book.

Thank you to the author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

A cute and steamy, short read about a firefighter and a nurse. This was an emotional read, Nick has recently returned from war and is dealing with PTSD and the grief of losing is best friend in the war. My heart ached for him, and the pain he was dealing with. I loved the relationship between Becca and Nick and the development of their relationship. Nick felt he wasn’t good enough for Becca because of the things he was going through after experiencing war. Despite that, the two were pulled together. The story felt a bit rushed, since the story was so short it didn’t have as much character and story development as I would have liked. The characters were likeable but I would have enjoyed getting to know them a bit more. Overall, this is a great read if you want a quick, cute but steamy romance between a ex-military fire fighter and a nurse that is emotional but doesn’t dive into the heavy topics too thoroughly.

After serving his country Nick has returned home a changed man and the aftereffects continue to haunt him. He is building a new life for himself where he is working as a fireman and surrounded by family but it wasn’t until Becca came into his life that he started to feel alive.

Becca hasn’t made the best choices when it comes to the men she has allowed in her life, and she is still healing from her last relationship. When she meets Nick, she is drawn to him in a way she never expected but is he able to overcome his painful past so that they can have a future together?

Becca is exactly who Nick needs in his life as he is struggling but with her love and understanding she gives him hope for the future.

Ignited is an ex military romance that is fast paced but that doesn’t mean it lacks any emotion. Nick and Becca’s story draws you in like a moth to a flame. It is about healing, moving forward and realizing that you have more to give than the broken pieces that you are drowning under. It has compassion, understanding, heat and friendship. Their story grabs hold of your heart and holds tight right to the very end.

Nick and Becca's story is a beautiful story and pretty fast-paced but it's still packed full of feels and emotions. I enjoyed their storyline so it went by really fast for me. I couldn't put it down even when I had to. There were ups and downs, issues they have to work through and even though it was fast-paced, everything felt sufficient, no missing bits and pieces. I loved how their story went, they were just meant to be together.

Universal

Nick's back home after deployment, fighting PTSD, working as a firefighter, and trying to deny his fascination for his ray of sunshine neighbor, Becca. She's completely off limits considering she's the best friend of his brother's girlfriend. He's not up for a relationship or love or anything approaching those things. But he can't resist her for much longer. Can he possibly offer her all the things she wants and deserves?

Ignited is a little short on depth, considering its short length, but it is sweet and sexy, and Nick and Becca are both very likable characters. There's a bit of of back and forth caused by Nick's PTSD, so it's not completely fluff or anything. It's entertaining, and did make me want to read the next story.

NEW to me author. I picked this up as a ARC from a PR review list. Read the blurb and at that time sounded great.
I kind of just dived in and wish I did a little more research because by 20% I was in an area I really dislike.
Let me explain.
To me I just dislike when the heroine is already in a relationship, especially one where she wants it to work, she's in love with him but then he suddenly breaks it off with her bc he found someone else and is in love with her. Then knowing the story is going to be about the H & H I just can't imagine it turning around so fast, now she falls for the hero but here she was in love with this man and wanted to make it work, sleep with him to rekindle their relationship, idk but to me I really dislike that in my romance.
That said I honestly didn't want to read on knowing what's to come. Doesn't help that I still by 22% wasn't able to connect with the main characters, especially the heroine.
I skipped a few pages here and there to try and get past the feeling of and to imagine the H & H together within a short timeframe, but just wasn't able to connect.
This is my personal feeling on this book.

I’ve read quite a few books by the lovely Sierra Hill, and I’ve loved all of them as she has a way at gripping her audience into her stories. However, this is the first time reading anything by S.E. Rose and honestly I have to say that I’m really impressed with this book. I know that I started a book behind, so being honest I have no idea what transpired in the first book other than the little bits that were mentioned in this one, but that being said I was so hooked on this story that I honestly couldn’t it down. As I was reading the story I honestly couldn’t tell whose writing was which because both Sierra and S.E. Rose have managed to get their writing that in sync that you can’t help but see that they are talented together.
I enjoyed every minute of this book, and whilst at times I couldn’t help but want to hit Nick’s head against a wall due to the fact he kept closing himself off, it was amazing to see that both of these authors have managed to tackle the underlying concerns when it comes to PTSD, they didn’t sugar-coat it, they didn’t just brush over it, they actually used it as part of the main story line and showed that Nick needed to get a grip of the reality he was living in, but he couldn’t just hide away from it.
I wouldn’t say that there was nothing that needed changing, but the one thing that I would loved to have seen was that Becca’s ex get Karma happen to him, main reason being it’s clear that Becca devoted a great amout of time to their relationship, so the fact he literally just walked away and then had the nerve to flaunt his new relationship in front of her, I feel it would have been a lot more interesting seeing him get what’s coming to him as he literally put Becca through a lot, and he’s referenced a lot throughout the book, so it’s not like he was just some small side character who you never hear from again.
Other than that, I loved every second of it and I’m excited to give the first book a read in this series if this book was anything to go by.
If you’ve only read just one of these authors works, or even both but never together I’d recommend giving this series a try because it’s literally so scorching hot that you’ll love it.

Nick knew what he wanted out of life, he loved doing what he was doing as his career, he had his four best friends with him, but that one day on assignment changed everything for him.
After seeing his best friend pass away in his arms, dozens of innocent children losing their lives, it does things to you. Nick knows that no matter what happens now, it’s going to change his outcome on life, but now he has to try and figure out a way to adapt to everyday life now that he’s back home for good.
After having to attend his parents pool party in which they throw every year, he can’t help but want to hide away because he is just avoiding people right now. Yet when he goes into hero mode and saves Becca from having a wardrobe malfunction in front of everyone.
Knowing that he can’t give into the temptation he does his best to stay clear of her, but when it becomes apparent, they’ll be neighbours he knows for a fact it’s going to be an interesting journey.
When Becca ends up having her world turned upside down and her boyfriend dumps her because he’s in love with someone else, she can’t help but feel like she’s never going to find love again. Even though she knows she picks some losers, she knows she deserves happiness, it’s just the case of finding it.
With a fire igniting inside of Nick, will he realise what it is and do anything about it? Or is he too broken to even try to go after what he wants??
What happens when Nick gives into temptation and he finds himself crossing the line with Becca? Will he give her what she wants or is he set to break her?

#ignited is book two in #fanningtheflamesseries by @sierrahillbooks and @seroseauthor

Nick is home after serving 10 years in the military. He’s been through traumas and seen things he can’t get out of his mind. Being back home, he’s working as a firefighter. It’s what he’s meant to do; helping people. He has a huge heart even though he feels broken, not like he deserves love and happiness. Moving into an apartment alone it’s a surprise to who his neighbor is. The girl that sees through his tough exterior. Is he willing to give the spark between them a chance or is he going to extinguish any chance of happiness?

Becca is a pediatric nurse and has seen her fair share of heartbreak. But in her profession, she is taught to trust her instincts. Hers is telling her that Nick needs a friend. But the more he comes to her rescue the more she wants to be with him. Can she break down his walls or is her heart going to crumble again?

Wow this book got me good. I don’t usually write anything too personal but It was scarily relatable to my life. I can relate to Becca when she tries to break down Nick’s walls. This book wasn’t rushed, told a story and didn’t leave you hanging with the past trauma. I’m glad to see previous characters and can’t wait to see what’s next. I love this series and 100% recommend it.

This is a nice quick read about a soldier returning home after duty that ended in a loss and a caring pediatric nurse who is looking for more from life.

Nick is not looking for anything other and to move on from his final days as a soldier. Trying to forget that horrific day and find some sort of normal. But that is easier said then done, the nightmares are still coming fast and furious, the flashbacks come when lease expected. But he is drawn to the girl next door, but he is determined he is not man enough for her.

Becca is tired of lack luster relationships, watching her bestie find the man of her dreams is making it all a little harder. As taxing as her job can be some days, she loves being there for the kids and their families. Worried that she will never find the man that truly wants to be her partner.

There is plenty of chemistry and emotions with these characters but nothing too deep. That deep dark stuff is left to the imagination as Nick and Becca just understand those since they both have them. The need to be able to off load or just be there with one another is enough.

Will Nick decide that he is enough and go for the girl that causes all the sparks?

Ignited is a friends to lovers story that brings to life all the emotions that are associated with it, explosive, arousing, exciting and thought-provoking, two talented authors one must-read story

It wasn't hard to fall in love with Nick, back from the Army and still suffering from the last tour and the traumatic event that had led him to leave, he knows that he has a long way to go to be fully healed, however, that doesn't stop him feeling a connection to Becca his brother's girlfriend's best friend, from the moment he meets her, but she has a boyfriend although he is more absent than around, so friends are how this couple's relationship starts. Becca is a nurse and knows that Nick is holding in some deep scars from the Army, but there is something inside of her that wants to help him and now they are neighbours the friendship blooms after a rocky start. But with a relationship on the rocks, and Becky and Nick fighting their feelings this is going to be one bumpy ride with a few tears along the way.

I have to say I loved everything about this book, it brings out so many emotions between these two characters that you can’t help find yourself cheering them on throughout their story.
Nick comes back from over seas having dealt with a life altering experience that has affected his own life now. Thinking that he would not be good for anyone he tries to avoid relationships at all costs that’s until he meets Becca.
Becca is a pediatric nurse and deals with her own tough times with her job but she also is a romantic at heart and always feeling less then she never expects meeting Nick would change that.
Together Nick & Becca will have to overcome their own insecurities but together they can tackle whatever they have in front of them if they realize they can lean on the other to hopefully find a HEA.

Ignited is a hot read. I loved every moment of this one. You met Nick in the end of the first book Burned as he returns from combat. You just want to hug on Nick as he has his flash backs while working as a firefighter. Becca is so sweet and loves what she does as a nurse. She is Callie's best friend and kind of off limits to Nick. There is this pull you feel between Becca and Nick as they are thrown together. Becca and Nick are so hot together that they will set the sheets on fire. I love Becca and Nick together. There is just something so special about this couple that you will fall in love with once you get to know them. Ignited is one you will not want to put down. I love what the duo of Sierra Hill and S.E. Rose bring to these pages and cannot wait for the next Fanning the Flames book.

I enjoyed Ignited by these authors: plenty of feels, family, and fear of not being enough. Family is the three Holmes sons, Nick, Tyler, and Liam. Nick went to the Fire Academy and later did ten years in the army, including in Afghanistan. He has returned home and back to firefighting which brings experiences that trigger his PTSD. He has moved into the apartment next to Becca's, who happens to be the BFF of the fire chief Callie, boss of both Nick and Tyler, and Tyler's girlfriend. Becca is a pediatric nurse who also works ER, so the two can hardly avoid each other. Nick was there to comfort her when she had a fire in her kitchen when her boyfriend told her he had fallen in love with someone else. So both Nick and Becca have fear of being broken, not good for a lasting relationship setting up lots of angst and tears. And those tears equal five stars!

Becca and Nick have a loose connection - his brother is with her best friend - and they end up as neighbors too. They are suffering setbacks - a bad break-up for her, a return to civilian life for him after losing a good friend. They are attracted to each other but decide being friends is for the best. But how long can deny their attraction?

I have never served in the military myself to know what that form of PTSD would look like but I thought the authors did a good job of explaining what is going on in Nick’s head when he thinks he is not good for Becca. Nick shows so many others kindness, he needs to figure out how to show himself that same level of kindness.

This is the second book in a series - I have read the first book as well (and liked it!) but I do not think you would need to read book 1 to enjoy this one.

Oh am I loving this series! This series has been an amazing emotional journey that I’m so happy to be on. Nick is former military with some major emotional baggage. He works at the fire department with his brother and his brothers girlfriend. Nick and the best friend Becca have a instant connection and they are surprised to find out that they are neighbors. Nick is extremely drawn to Becca but he is afraid to get to close. Becca wants to do whatever she can to break down his walls. This was a great quick read. The story was emotional but definitely had a few laugh out loud moments due to the brothers banter. I love The authors fast paced writing style and the characters are always so well developed and well written. I’m very excited to continue this series, bring on the next book.

I think Nick and Becca had a perfect connection. She was in need of someone that put her first. Nick was wanting someone to love, but believed his baggage was too much to deserve love. I loved that Nick was in the right place at the right time to be Becca's night in shining armor. I also loved that they were in close proximity to start a friendship. Watching the two try to pump the breaks on starting anything more was fun, but was kind of frustrating too. I thought they were sweet, but I could understand any hesitancy when it came to more. I loved that Becca had the tools to understand Nick's PTSD, as I would imagine it being hard to watch someone go through, and even harder to go through struggles.

Wow! I have no words for this book. These two authors are back with book two in this series and I can't wait for more! Nick and Becca's was heartbreaking yet heartwarming at the same time. Nick and Becca have both been hurt in their own ways but these two are perfect for each other. Nick and Becca both have their walls up but they slowly start to come down. These two do not have a smooth road to their HEA but they do get one and it was worth everything they go through. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for more of this series. I would recommend this book and these two awesome authors.

I received a free e-book copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
