PRIOR VIOLATIONS
Prior Violations is the prequel novella to Brazen Violations by Aussie author Jonathan Macpherson and is fast paced and full of action, with Mitch Walker getting himself into more and more trouble as the days go by. When he loses his job through no fault of his own, then needs to raise money fast, his decisions lead him into the worst situation he could possibly imagine. How did he find himself in the dark underworld of Los Angeles? And how is he going to get out – alive? A quick, entertaining read which I recommend.
BRAZEN VIOLATIONS
Mitch was desperate to help his nephew Peter who was dying from an aggressive form of leukaemia – becoming a drug mule meant the payment would be high; the drugs needed for Peter were priced out of their reach so Mitch thought this was the best way. But on the flight back everything went wrong – he tried to dull the pain of the surgery with alcohol – the results were disastrous. He was arrested on arrival in the city…
Detective Betts was surprised by what he saw in front of him – a young man with no prior convictions, even a pillar of society; but when he discovered the “why” he understood to a degree. But there was much worse to come in the form of the criminals who had controlled the drug run and Mitch. Not afraid to kill to achieve their own ends, the body count was rising. And when Betts was abducted, his shock at what had happened to him while he was unconscious was profound. What would be the results of this vicious crime spree by these seasoned criminals?
Brazen Violations by Aussie author Jonathan Macpherson is a fast paced, gritty and brutally intense thriller which I sped through. I was a little stunned at the abrupt ending but this high octane novel is one for fans of the gruesome, nasty thriller – and not for the faint hearted!
The combination of these two highly addictive thrillers makes it easier for readers to follow on, one from the other! Highly recommended.

A fast paced, action packed novels from the very first page.
Prior Violations is the prequel to Brazen Violations.
Prior Violations starts with action, blood, shooting and crime on the very first page, from the minute you start the book, you are engrossed into the world of Betts and Walker.
Mitch Walker is a Hero, he attempts to stop a robbery gone wrong, he looses his job because he is then late to work after trying to stop the robbery.
With Mitch now being, in-between jobs, he offers his help to his sister and nephew. His nephew has leukaemia, and his sister has just been injured in a hit and run accident. Mitch assists with his nephews daily needs whilst his sister is recovering.
Whilst caring for his nephew, Mitch discovers that his leukaemia is terminal but there is a new drug on the market which can help his nephew, but the cost of the drugs is ridiculous. Mitch goes above and beyond to save his nephews life and makes a horrible decision to become a drug mule.
As you can imagine Mitch comes across some unsavoury characters, and his life is always on the line.
The book is full of thrill and action, blood, guts and gore. It is fast paced and keeps you wanting more. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and was left wanting more.
I really enjoyed the Narrator of the audiobook Tom Campbell. He did a marvellous job with all of the different characters.

Helping Peter
Mitchell learns that his sister has been in a an accident while drinking at a bar with his friend Wayne. He finds out his Nephew Peter is sick and needs a medication that his sister cannot afford but without his Nephew will die.
There appears to be no way Mitchell can raise the money for the drugs his nephew needs, but then he finds a criminal psychopathic doctor that will give him the drugs for his nephew if he does the doctor a favor. This favor could cost him his own life, or a life in prison.
The only hope Mitchell has is a cop named Betts that is determined to catch him and prosecute him.
The narrator does a good job and the audio book is easy to understand.
This is a book that will keep you reading, it is thrilling and captivating. it will take you where you do not ever want to go and show you things you wish you hadn't seen.

A fast paced, get to it, and move story. There are no cringe-worthy or fluff moments. There is profanity.
This is a man book. If I had read this first, I would have gifted this to my father. He would not have shared it with me. I do like a little more background to complete a story. However, this was two books (listed as) and short. It was just okay for me. The premise behind the story kept me going forward. Realistically, I could see real life.
Narrator, Tom Campbell was enjoyable.

These books were great! I really enjoyed how all the events ended up being interconnected. I love how much the nephew is loved and how hard everyone works to save him. Watching the growth of the straight and narrow cop turn into the cop who does the right thing even though it's questionably legal-wise was awesome. And I LOVED it when the criminals got theirs! I will definitely be looking for more books by this author! I hope he continues this series.

I really really enjoyed this book. Book 1 was really good. I liked Mitch. Book 2 was good too. I did like the ending sort of. 4*.

When Mitchell gets fired for being late He and his friend Wayne who is also fired goes to the bar drinks and try to come up with grand ideas as to what to do next. This is Win Mitchell’s phone rings Sunny he and his friend Wayne who is also fired goes to the bar drinks and try to come up with grand ideas as to what to do next. This is when Mitchell’s phone rang Sunny finds out his sister was in an accident and she needs his help. Her son Peter is sick and while she is off her feet he promises to take care of little Peter. This is when he finds out little Peter needs medicine that his sister just can’t afford. Mitchell‘s need to help will send him on the chaotic Trail that will turn his life upside down make him privy to secrets he really shouldn’t know and told him to wish he would’ve just went with Wayne to Mexico. Oh I loved this book! This usually isn’t my type of book but I am so glad I got it. The writing is so witty, The action keeps you on the edge of your seat and the violence is truly cringe worthy. I can’t wait to remoore by this author in the future he has definitely found a new fan with me. I loved the narration and thought he did a superb job. I was given this book by net galley and I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any grammar or punctuation errors as I am blind and dictate my review but all opinions are definitely my own.

Prior Violations starts with action, blood, shooting and crime on the very first page, from the minute you start the book, you are engrossed into the world of Betts and Walker. With Mitch now being, in-between jobs, he offers his help to his sister and nephew. His nephew has leukemia, and his sister has just been injured in a hit and run accident. Mitch assists with his nephews daily needs whilst his sister is recovering. While caring for his nephew, Mitch discovers that his leukemia is terminal but there is a new drug on the market which can help his nephew, but the cost of the drugs is ridiculous. Mitch goes above and beyond to save his nephews life and makes a horrible decision to become a drug mule. As you can imagine Mitch comes across some unsavory characters, and his life is always on the line. This is definitely a story worth exploring with BIG Pharma and dirty doctors anything is possible. This will provide alternatives and options for those desperate but at what costs.

These are the first two books of Jonathan Macpherson's series, Betts and Walker. The first book is a novella and leads seamlessly into the second, Brazen Violations. Mitch Walker is a man who hasn't found his path in life. He is on the verge of criminal activity with a few toes over the line from time to time.
Mitch's nephew, Peter, has leukemia, and his only hope is an expensive new drug that insurance won't cover yet. Mitch's sister is a single mom and there is no way the two of them can find enough to buy the treatment. Mitch makes a deal with the head of a criminal enterprise. He will work for him and in return, he will get the drug his nephew needs.
Bett is the policeman who is seeking to take down the criminal enterprise. He has Walker right in his sights and is forcing him to inform on the man who is going to save his nephew. How will it all end?
This is a new author to me. Macpherson is an Australian although the setting for these books are in Los Angeles. The plot is fast and furious but the plotting is not intricate and involved which is my preference in mysteries. These books are recommended for mystery fans who want a lot of action and a very fast pace.

Betts & Walker by Jonathan Macpherson was an excellent read especially as I had two books to read altogether which made these books a great read especially as they had lots of twists and turns with great plots which made this book a roller coaster ride.

Hard-boiled mystery. 1st episode is a cliffhanger, completed in included 2nd episode. Very complex and (w/2nd episode) exciting plot. Sparse profanity. Some gore (deals wi/stolen body parts). Narrator is very good. It can be purchased separately but 1st part adds interest.
