Sentinals Stirring is an introductory novella set in the World of Remargaren. Set a few years before the events of Sentinals Awaken, we find out how some of the main characters from the Sentinal Series first met.

Three thousand years ago the goddess Leyandrii banished all magic from the world of Remargaren to protect her people from the wild power of the Ascendants. But, unnoticed, the world is changing. Her veil of protection is weakening and magic is seeping back in. Leyandrii is watching; she is determined her sacrifice will not have been in vain, and she has found just the person to help her. He is just not ready yet.

The world is much larger than the Watch Jerrol grew up in, and he has choices and opportunities he never dreamed of. His simple life is about to be overturned because Lady Leyandrii needs him; she places his feet on her path and changes his life forever. The Sentinals are stirring, and it will take Jerrol to wake them. Only he doesn't know it yet.

About the author

USA Today Bestselling author Helen Garraway lives in the UK and has been writing about the world of Remargaren, a fantasy world of her creation since 2016.

Sentinals Awaken, which was Helen's debut fantasy novel, won the 2021 Readers' Favorite Finalist Award in the Epic Fantasy category. It was followed by Sentinals Rising which was released on March 17th 2021 and achieved a Five Star Readers' Favorite review and an Honourable Mention award. Four further books have been released in the Sentinals series along with SoulBreather, the first book in the fantasy romance SoulMist series.

An avid reader of many different fiction genres, a love she inherited from her mother, Helen writes fantasy novels and enjoys paper crafting and scrapbooking as an escape from the pressure of the day job.

Having graduated from the University of Southampton with a Degree in Politics and International Relations, she remains an active member of their alumni.

A stunning prequel to the series. I loved learning more about Jerrol's childhood and how he met certain characters!
This is a great place to start this series. Keep reading. You will not be disappointed.

Sentinals Stirring is an introductory novella set in the world of Remargaren created by Author Helen Garraway. The story starts a few years before the first novel in the Sentinals series, Sentinals Awaken, with the introduction of a younger Jerrol who is just embarking on his training which eventually leads him to join the King’s Rangers. Although Jerrol is not yet prepared for what is to come, the Lady Leyandrii places him on the right path to meet those that will play an important part in guiding him towards fulfilling his destiny.

I loved this novella and the step back in time, giving further insight into Jerrol’s character and how the bonds with the original characters in Sentinals Awaken were formed. This is a well written and engaging back story that fans of this series will certainly enjoy. I award 5 stars.

This was so good! It was nice to read a coming-of-age origin story with a sensible, intelligent protagonist. The world building was incidental without info dumping, and the packing and plot kept me interested the entire time. I can’t wait to read more about Jarrel as he becomes a ranger. Will definitely be continuing the series. Moderate violence, no swearing, and nothing explicit.

A partial origin story for Jerrol and Taelia. Personally, I thought she could have gone into it a little longer. But, it was a quick, nice read, helping to fill in a few gaps. Nice.

Enjoy the book and getting to know some of the characters that will be coming in the following books in the series. Knowing how Jerral starts out was great and where it might lead him from this point.
