Consequences by Australian author Gillian Wells is the second book in the Alone series.

Rachel and Mike have been married for 5 years running their Braham Cattle property in the remote Australian outback. Life could not be more blissful for Rachel after suffering such great loss and heartache in the past. She gets along well with her stepchildren Emma and Ben and Mike’s ex-wife Clarrie. At last Rachel is fulfilled and content.

Little did she know her life would take a turn she didn’t expect. Rachel had been through so many ups and downs with the loss of her husband and return of her estranged son, she thought she had them all figured out but the past always comes back to haunt you.

Rachel must decide what is most important to help her move forward and what consequences she must take and endure to steer the direction of her life to happiness once again.

Gillian’s writing style is very descriptive, full of heartache, secrets and special moments that keep you engrossed with the story and characters. You get a great sense of the Australian outback in this story, and you can almost feel like you are right there with the characters.

The story is a nice straightforward read which flows well with a plot that keeps you reading until the very end. It is a very relatable story about characters and events that may happen in real life.

I would recommend this book and series to anyone that loves rural family drama.

✍️ Five years have passed and Rachel is living a happier life on the farm with Mike until things start to change and issues start to arise. Her Stepdaughter Emma is having a hard time and Rachel suspects it might be something serious.
Mike is also experiencing issues with his family and their farm as well as unexpected visitors.

Every Time I read one of @gillwellswriter books I feel a sense of Tranquility in the Grace and Eloquence of her beautiful writing which instantly draws me in to the story.

After reading "ALONE" and Delighting in it I was very excited to read the follow up to the first book in the series and it certainly did not disappoint.

The story was filled with Detailed and Rich Emotions that had me Immersed in the lives of the characters and it was lovely to revisit the old characters and to be reminded of them again.

The storyline was cleverly written and crafted and I was captivated by all the action packed circumstances that were unfolding with Rachel and Mike in regards to their family and their property. The twists and turns and ups and downs of the story were so dramatic, heartfelt and compelling that I was kept in apprehension and suspense till the end.

Following on from Gillian’s book ‘Alone’ we again follow Rachel five years later as she goes about living her life on the farm. However, everything soon begins to fall apart, especially when a character from the past creeps back in and stirs up trouble.

Gillian does such an amazing job of setting the whole ‘farm’ scene and it honestly feels very real and authentic as she describes the animals, environment and hard life some of her characters lead.

If you’re a fan of Gillian’s other texts, you will enjoy this one. She has such a relaxed flow to her stories which draw you in and you simply must finish.
