Wheel of Crowns #6

The Queen of the Sea

Rate this book
A warrior needs a quest. But this quest requires a sacrifice that may be too great to bear.

A childhood under the thumb of a harsh ruler might ruin some people, but Sasha is a warrior. She may be suppressed now, but she’ll bide her time. Her budding friendship with the future King of the Sea also gives her hope that she’ll one day have the strength to throw off the chains binding her.

But with age comes new perspectives and Sasha soon learns of a curse upon the land. Neither she, nor her people, will ever be free from it unless someone – unless she – makes a journey no-one would want to make.

It’s hard enough preparing for her quest, but once Sasha sets off, she realizes sacrifices must be made. Betrayals will follow and Sasha will have to risk everything to achieve the impossible – to free her land from the curse. But will she be able to obtain forgiveness for her actions from the one person who has always shown her kindness?

DNF
There was a need for commas- and usually I stop reading if it happens too often, but I gave the book a chance because I actually liked the ones that came before it. I just couldn't understand what was going on. At what point did he become her fiancé and not just her friend? He's in a portal but how/when? It was jumpy and lacking in too many places. Usually I think authors give too much detail but this story lacked too much detail and I was confused for the first 40%- gave up at 43%.

Final book of the series and I have to say I have really enjoyed every one of them. They are very similar plot wise all the was through, but the characters shine through and their quest to find seven magical keys that will save the human world from evil supernaturals is a great adventure.
These are quite short books compared to many, so are a quick easy read. I think I read the whole series in about 10 days.

Another enticing read

This book definitely has a different dynamic from the first five, but it is awesome. I love these two characters. I’m anxiously waiting the 7th book

Nice one!

This one is a bit different as it flips back and forth in time. It's not super great but it's good and the hero doesn't wait for the last 6 pages to fix things--yay!

A great story as it jumps back and forth between present and past. Very little swearing. Clean. Looking forward to Jo’s tale.

Precipitous

Could use some judicious editing. A good premise, but a bit too much. Could use more explanation as to relationships.

Maybe the best in the series - read on KU

The two books before this one bored me. However, I really enjoyed this one. I read it straight through in about 3 hours. I did skim a paragraph here and there. The prologue draws you in. The story is mostly fast-paced. It was torturous waiting for our MCs to be reunited, though. But trying to get to that point kept me reading. After they are together, it really goes quickly.

I'm curious as to why she never wrote the 7th book. I can only assume Jo would be the FMC? It'd be cool if she gets two men if she ever does get her book.

The series as a whole has definitely been hit or miss. But her newest series is marvelous. The one with the four friends from NOLA. All ten of the books I have read by this author need a serious edit. There are numerous grammatical errors. Neither the author nor the editor seems to grasp the correct use of personal pronouns. "Me" is never a subject pronoun and should only come as the first word in a sentence if it is one like this or if you speak like Yoda.

You could almost read this one as a standalone. The others were more interconnected. I was disappointed Jo and Arianna were the only 2 characters of note we saw from the previous books. (Other than Kian, of course.)

There is so much material here to be made into future books. More so than just one more to get the 7th key. An entire series on the fae could be written.

👑 wow! I love this series, from start to end it has me gripped! But..
I've got to say this one didn't seem to have that edge of your seat, screaming at the book feel to it. Wasn't a lover of the back and forth.
I feel like the queen of the sea, (as much as I love her character!) Didn't have the oomph, that craziness, that fire, that all other characters seem to have. Although I still enjoyed reading it, took me a day 👍😁 thank you xx

Best series i have read in a long time

I usually get bored with long series, after the 3rd book it gets dull and to be honest, the 4th book I was thinking yeah, the same.. But the 5th book was awesome and the 6th book was so surprising!! Very well written and I cannot wait to read about Jo's story!! I love how Ms. Elledge actually painted a picture in your mind with her words!!
