Jess is trying to start her life over after leaving an abusive relationship. She's a little over the top manic at times, but the reasoning all plays out well after a while. Although, I did figure some stuff out right away and some parts of it were predictable, there were some twists I did not see coming. I found it to be a page turner about halfway through, each chapter ending making me wonder what would happen next. The ending was written perfectly. Overall, this was an enjoyable psychological thriller and I'd give this author a go again.
Trigger warnings: miscarriages, depression and slight animal abuse

After a messy divorce, terrifying home invasion, and inheritance battle, Jess believes she finally has her life back on track. She is thrilled for her new beginning in a cozy English town where no one recognizes her.
When Jess is attacked on the street, she thinks it just a case of bad luck. However, more creepy things begin to happen. Eventually she believes she is being targeted.
As the events escalate, Jess becomes unglued. She can’t tell what is real and what is her imagination. Someone is after her and they want revenge.
At first I was really bored and I thought Jess was annoying. Like Jess, I felt my mind spinning with the hysteria she created. However ad I kept reading I became more invested in the story. The plot twist at the end I did not see coming.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc.
I enjoyed this twisty and fast paced book even though it was just a tad predictable. The story centers on Jess, who is house sitting for her aunt and uncle in a little seaside town after going through a traumatic divorce. She meets Ashley and the 2 forge a quick and close friendship; Ashley is there for her when creepy things start happening that make her worried that events from her past have caught up with her.
The author provides a lot of choices as to who the villain could be, and while I did find the story predictable there were some surprises around how it all came together. Jess’ gullibility made me roll my eyes a couple of times but she was mostly a likable character. The end of the book definitely caused me to suspend my disbelief and I felt that everyone was tied up just a little too cleanly, but there was still something satisfying about it.
Overall, while not the most unique book I’ve ever read, I did enjoy it and felt that it was both a fast paced and engaging book. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
After trying to escape her tumultuous past for two years, Jessica Donovan returns to England and the sleepy town of Weston-Super-Mare determined to pick up the pieces of her life and to move on. But someone is hiding, watching and waiting, and Jess is being targeted and tormented.
Thankfully Jess has supporting friends to help her, and after being estranged from her brother form 10 years, she is finally ready to let him back into her life.
Nora Valters delivers a perfect psychological thriller - with many twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Jess, went through a lot. Like A LOT. After a extremely brutal divorce, a terrifying home invasion and an inheritance feud, Jess is determined to get her life back in line. After spending two years overseas, she is finally ready for this new beginning in her uncle and aunt’s hometown in a seaside town in England. When she gets attacked while walking down the street, and more creepy things start happening coincidentally, she has a gut feeling she is being targeted… but who wants revenge? And why come for her now?
It took me a few chapters to get into this book, but halfway through I found myself speed reading this. I felt like I was going through these twists with Jess, being manipulated and thrown off course on every corner. It was a brilliant psychological read. The story doesn’t have loose ends, and wraps up very neatly. Well written, clever and an absolute rollercoaster ride.
If you would want to start over in a new place, would you trust anyone anymore? Especially when people find out you are worth more than you show it up?
I enjoyed the suspenseful moments and some unpredictable moments along with the heartbreaking scenes about abusive relationship and child loss ones.
The author kept me intrigued with all the twisted moments, especially after her long-lost brother shows up.
One thing that I haven’t predicted was that Noah was actually real.
Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy through NetGalley

Immediately I was connected to the book just from the location of Weston Super Mare. This is somewhere I’ve worked, somewhere I’ve enjoyed and taken the kids and also somewhere I’ve been on a night out or two. I absolutely adored it was a location I could picture the detail.
I thought it was brilliant how the first chapter was written giving you a glimpse of the past but not too much then the suspense of the event that happened walking home. But nothing like the big shocker of who. How. Why. Omg I had to at this point just keep on reading. Sooo many questions I needed answers for. I couldn’t believe the pace of each event that was happening so early on into the read the suspense was pure addiction.
Being a psychological thriller obviously I was suspecting everything and I was in two minds about Ashley. The author also has awesome taste in movies and actors by the way. A marathon of the Thor movies has made my Sunday evening for sure. I instantly detested Blake and what he done, what a vile human being, the emotion drew me in further. I couldn’t help continuing my assumptions throughout and wondered if Kevin was Blake.
Could this be the first psychological thriller that I expect the outcome correctly for once. Maybe not. As the author kept bringing in all of these other characters from the past causing mysterious suspicions in my mind continuously. The flow of the conversations really bought this book to life for me. I loved the flow of the writing so much. This is probably one of the best psychological thrillers I’ve ever read.
It’s a wonderful feeling when the pieces of your life finally fall into place.
Jess is divorced from an abusive spouse. She’s estranged from her drug-addicted brother. And her affair with a married man is behind her, after a terrifying home invasion and assault. She feels safe now and her new life is just beginning.
After winning money in the lottery, Jess’ aunt and uncle are off on a world cruise and she is housesitting and taking care of their dog during their absence. Jess meets a coworker and they hit it off immediately. Then her brother, now clean and sober, reconnects, and she meets a sweet and handsome new guy.
Life can never be that simple though, can it? Her past rears its ugly head. As she comprehends how perfectly everything and everyone has come together, she recognizes the danger around her. The author gradually introduces us to the cast of “could-be-villains”. I made my predictions and was mostly spot-on, even though I kept reading and hoping for an exciting shock.
I’m rating this one at 3.5 🌟’s. It lacked the fast pace I prefer in thrillers, but anyone who likes slow burns might appreciate it more.

Synopsis: Jess just wanted a fresh start in a new town where nobody knows her. She's finally over her abusive ex, has a great new job where she even met Ashley who is her new best friend now, and has met a new man. But when she's attacked in the street, she's afraid the past has finally caught up with her. Thankfully, Ashley was there to save her. But then, more and more strange things are starting to happen, and Jess is afraid she's losing her mind...
My opinion: This was such a quick, fun read I couldn't get enough of. I read the book in one sitting and I really enjoyed finding out more about what was happening to Jess. Well, I did figure out what was going on pretty quickly, but it still was such an interesting story to follow along. And Nora Valters created really great characters I really felt for.
This was my second book by Nora Valters, and my favorite is Now You Know.
Parts of this book reminded me of: - Stop At Nothing by Tammy Cohen - Confessions On The 7:45 by Lisa Unger - Missing Daughter by Kiersten Modglin

This is a great engaging relatively easy read, although the tension is high throughout. It follows the story of two women. Jess is trying to rebuild her life, after some horrific experiences with abusive partners and a druggie brother stalking her. Ashley is also new to the area and is also an orphan, so they instantly befriend each other. It seemed to me that it was convenient and I was suspicious of Ashley straight off, I dont know if thats because I have read too many crime books in the past. The clues to Jess's past are slowly revealed throughout and you wonder who is tormenting her, whether it is one of those from her past, or if its closer to home. I would like to commend the author for her description of anxiety in particular, but mental health struggles. If anyone wants to know what it is like to suffer with anxiety, the crippling insecurity, the paranoia, it is potrayed with startling accuracy here. As the story progresses Jess is gradually wondering what is real and what isnt. She really starts to wonder if she is losing her grip on reality. When she starts hallucinating her brother becomes really concerned. The truth is eventually revealed and there are some twists and turns, some were obvious to me, but some caught me out. A great read and one I would recommend.
Jess is looking forward to a new start and a new job in her aunt and uncle’s hometown, after having spent some two years wandering the world to escape what happened to her before. She escaped an abusive relationship and more and has moved there, knowing no one and hoping no one knows her. She has had to change her name and identity and has hidden a lot about her past, preferring to use her therapist’s methods to try and lock away those painful memories and start anew. On her first get together with her new company, she is made to introduce herself in front of her fellow workers, as they have an informal drink to end the work week, with free drinks paid for by their boss at their local watering hole. Everyone breaks up into their little cliques after her speech and she is left at a slight disadvantage until another newbie, Ashley, comes to introduce herself to her. They end up being the last to leave and start walking home in the same direction. Once Ashley turns off, Jess can hear footsteps behind her and worries that someone is following her. She gets pushed into an alley by a man and threatened with a knife. Luckily she lets out a scram before he can silence her and Ashley comes to her rescue and whacks the man with her laptop bag and he runs off. She accompanies Jess the rest of the distance to her relative’s home, where she is house sitting and dog sitting while they are on a cruise, and she calls the police. What she doesn’t tell the police is that she had initially thought it was her brother who attacked her! Something she asks Ashley not to reveal, saying she must have been mistaken. Her past has been very messed up. With her brother Tim stalking her for ages, an ex-husband Blake who became very abusive and controlling and even had to have a restraining order placed on him to keep her safe, plus Toni, the wife of a man called Marcus who she started seeing once she split up from Blake and who said he was also divorced, breaking in and trying to attack her as she slept! No wonder she left the country! Her brother wanted the inheritance he thought he should have received when their father died, even though he would have spent it all on drugs at the time. Lots more small incidents begin to occur and Jess is grateful for the presence of her new friend Ashley and allows her to stay, feeling safer with her there, rather than being alone in the big house her aunt and uncle own, which used to be a B&B. But she may find out that she is too trusting and should be a bit more wary of people falling into her lap. Her brother turns up and says he is a completely different person now, ten years on, and wants to make amends as she is all the family he has. Ashley has her own traumatic life event to deal with and because of Jess’ own past, she knows exactly how she must be feeling and is determined to help look after her until she recovers. Jess thinks that she is safer with others than by herself and wants Ashley to stay, even if it means her boyfriend comes to stay as well. As her mental health seems to decline ever further, her brother even becomes concerned about her health and tries to help her. She had a breakdown after her marriage came apart and with everything else that went on at that time, so a repeat is more than likely with everything weird that seems to be happening. She gets into a state of days passing her by and not even realising how or when she got dressed or showered, and completely unable to even work or think about anything. Kevin is a great cook and makes them all meals every day, each slightly different as Ashley likes her food really spicy and he is a strict vegan, so that is one less thing she needs to worry about. When she starts having hallucinations and sees and hears things that none of the others can, she thinks she may need more help than she is currently getting and almost makes a legal change to how her affairs are managed. Just as she was about to do that, she finally realises nothing is as it seems and someone has been orchestrating things to make her seem insane, hoping to take everything from her. Who it is, she can’t even fathom as she has discounted the most obvious and doesn’t figures it out until almost too late. A shocking hidden existence forced upon an innocent reveals the truth at last. Her mothering instinct was almost destroyed after a number of miscarriages during her marriage, but it is clearly a strong motivator for her at the end of the story. What these people did to her was beyond criminal and would certainly leaving you wondering about life and whether to ever trust anyone ever again! A shocking tale of one person’s vendetta against what they perceived was taken from them and all those they involved to make it right, no matter the harm they caused, to do so, nor any idea of right and wrong. Just what they thought they were due and sod anyone else! This story might make you think a little bit harder about the people around you and how much you can really trust them. A scary take of how wrong friendships and family can go. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Jessica has recently returned to live in the UK, and is staying at her aunt and uncles house whilst they are away. She is lucky enough to meet Ashley at the local co-working place, and they have fun exploring the area as Jess starts her new life back in England. Then something happens and Jess’s great new start seems less perfect. What happened to make Jess go abroad? Has someone from her past caught up with Jess? Chapter 1 ends with a shock, and sets the pace for this realistic, involving thriller. As the story unfolds, so Jess has suspicions about who is doing this to her, and I found myself engaged with her as a character, and scared for her. Throughout there are plenty of surprises and loads for the reader to wonder about. Set in Weston-super-Mare, at first I thought I had the storyline worked out before it hardly got going. How wrong I was! This fast paced psychological thriller twists and turns, with everything being seen through Jess’ eyes. My suspicions rose and fell, and then a new twist would start me thinking something different. An enjoyable, realistic, great read! This is the first book I have read by Nora Valters, I shall definitely be reading more by her.
This was full of suspense, twists and edge of your seat moments! I hadn’t read any of this author's work before this book, and I have clearly been missing out!
Our main character ‘Jess’ has recently come out of an abusive relationship, she is now divorced and is finally feeling that her life is getting back on track. Her move to a small town where she is anonymous gives her a thrilling sense of freedom and hope for the future.
Unfortunately, her happiness doesn’t last long, as disturbing things begin to occur. The story is intriguing and very well paced, I was almost flipping through the Digital pages quicker than I was reading them, I had to slow my reading down several times. I was just so eager and excited to see what was going to happen next!
The ending was perfect, nicely done and very satisfying! I’m giving this a solid 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I would like to say a massive thank you to Zooloos Book Tours (@ZooloosBT) for gifting me a free review copy of this book! Views and opinions are my own and have not been influenced by anyone.
I really struggled with this novel. It was a page turner for sure, but my primary motivation was just to get through it. I hate to DNF, but I was nearly there.
The dialog seemed juvenile and odd, not the way I'd expect adults to speak to one another. "OMG!" "They're out to get me!" etc.
The main character is unlikeable, which isn't typically an issue for me but I found myself exhausted by her. What person, with a history of trauma and PTSD, moves in with not one, but two complete strangers.... I can suspend my belief when warranted but the entire story is filled with hard to accept plot points and exchanges.
Blake, the ex husband, and Tim, the brother, are inordinately cruel, spitting vitriol at Jess for no real reason. It just felt thrown in there for shock value. Overall, the story lacks character development, believability, and after all the chaos, the ending is too wrapped up in a neat little bow for my tastes. Just wasn't for me.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I read this book in one sitting it was such a page turner. I could not put it down until I found out what was going to happen in the end. There is a lot going on in Jess’s life and my head was all over the place. Who is out to get her this time? We have an abusive ex husband, a betrayed wife, a drug addict brother and of course her new best friend Ashley. But surely Ashley is her saviour, the perfect friend, always there for her. Or is she? Her brother is a reformed character who only wants to make up for his past misdeeds. Or is he? At one point I was convinced that Jess is actually having another nervous breakdown and everything that had gone on in her past was actually her own fault. Was she? Was it? I’d be surprised if you, like me, cannot stop reading until you find out the answers.
I have one major point I’d like to raise first before going on to my review; there is a fair amount of talk regarding domestic abuse, rape and miscarriages throughout this book, and the main theme which comes to light as the story progresses is gaslighting. I feel that this book, and all books of this nature, really need to come with a warning because I very nearly didn’t continue reading because of this and it really caught me unawares and made me feel quite triggered and distressed reading it.
But now that I have that off my chest, I can loudly and roundly say I read 95% of this book in one day! The characters at first irked me though, because frankly I’ve been “the newbie” in a town and workplace and I’ve never become that close and trusting with anyone the way Jess does in Here For You. So I felt that character and plot development moved way too fast to be realistic, however when reading the end I can plainly see why it was written in this way.
I really felt for the character of Jess, never ever liked Kevin and thought he was really odd and uncomfortable in his own skin and a pretty two dimensional character. Alex seemed a bit pushy at times but again this becomes clear as to why at the end. Tim on the other hand I had hoped was a real leaf-turner of a character but sadly not.
The ending was really happy though and I’m glad that Jess and Noah managed to stay together, although I’m not sure that’s something that would be allowed to happen in real life, but this is a work of fiction after all and a warm fuzzy ending was much needed.

Synopsis: Jess just got her life under control after a messy divorce, bitter inheritance feud, and terrifying home invasion, all behind her. After two years abroad, she is looking forward to a new beginning in a sleepy English seaside town where nobody knows her. When she is attacked in the street, she thinks it is rotten luck. There are more creepy thing occurring, to the extent, she begins to think she is being targeted. As these things begin to escalate, she feels it is someone from her past seeking revenge. How far will they go?
My Thoughts: The chapters are average length. Nora Valters delivers a chilling psychological thriller. The characters are well-developed. Some twists were predictable, while others surprised me. The first half was a slow burn, actually through about three-fourths. I generally like my thrillers fast-paced. At first Jess annoyed me, but then I became to be on her side, rooting for her. This is truly a work of fiction as some of the events may not be possible in real life. However, I still enjoyed the book and loved the ending, for the most part.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book, even though I didn’t get round to reviewing it until after the publication date!
After a traumatic time, Jess returns to England after travelling for 2 years. Dog sitting in her aunt and uncle’s house seems to be going well, especially when she meets Ashley, who is right on her wavelength. The girls form a strong friendship very quickly, and a new man on the scene makes Jess believe that things are finally turning round for her. But then strange things start to happen. Doorbells ringing in the dead of night, notes nailed to the front door and damage to the car. In the midst of what feel like losing her mind, Jess needs to find out what’s happening, and why.
I enjoyed this book, it was a page turner and kept my interest from start to finish. However, I definitely guessed early most of the twists and turns, which is unusual for me as I am generally really bad at that sort of thing.
This is my fifth Nora Valters book and the last three I've read have had a recurring theme...
1. Meets someone who they grow close to after heartbreak 2. Bad things happen slowly 3. They date someone and breakup 4. They have a breakdown 5. They almost give up 6. They have a revelation that the person they trusted is the reason their life has gone to hell 7. Someone dies or goes to prison 8. Happy ever after no matter what
This book was heading in a direction that seemed different from the others, but it was again very predictable.
I give it a 3/5 due to the writing and the fact that the book does keep you going no matter what's happening - a guilty pleasure book.
I hope she does more books like The Party going forward as that didn't follow the same copy and paste outline.
All in all I still enjoyed the read, just wished I was more surprised and didn't know the end by page 10.

I am awful at predicting the plot twists of thrillers. People will say, “oh I saw that coming from chapter 2”. Not me. I never get them until the end! However, this one was a little obvious even for me. There were a few extra details I hadn’t predicted, but overall I was disappointed in how easily I guessed it. That being said, it was a quick read and some parts still surprised me at the end! Not my favorite, but not awful.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
This book started out being a little slow but it picked up quickly. Jesse goes through a divorce and home invasion, as well as a fight for an inheritance, but gets the chance to have a fresh start. Her fresh start is ruined by an attack while out in public. This leads to a series of incidents happening to her which makes her think she's being deliberately targeted by someone. The ending of the book made up for the beginning and made it a worthwhile read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy.
This book contains TW: details of domestic violence, in DEPTH descriptions of pregnancy loss, parental loss, mentions of child abuse, drug abuse, mental health disorders.
I liked this book, Jess is a good main character and narrator. I wouldn’t say I was surprised by the twist but I was definitely hooked. I will read more from this author. The triggers weren’t an issue for me but it really could be for someone else. The pregnancy loss description was pretty brutal honestly.
Follows the standard blueprint of story told in First Person of a woman who thinks perhaps she's going nuts. Strange things are happening to her and around her but is she being gaslit or is she really going nuts. No guesswork here, it's super obvious from the start. Super Obvious. Nothing new here.
Really hooks you and doesn't let go. It has so many twists and turns that just when you think you’ve got it figured out them BAM it goes in a different direction. The author has a great writing style and the plot is amazing. I would definitely recommend it!!
The story was clever and well written. I guessed a little of what was going on but, not all. The annoying parts were endless descriptions of everyone's appearance. Not usually necessary and I scanned a some pages
This book is so well written and I can’t say enough about this author. This is my second read for Nora and I can’t wait to read another. If you don’t read this, you’ll be the only one that suffers! Such a great novel! Such a great author!
Likeable characters, good plot that is fairly original. Personally I worked it out pretty early on, but after being in a bit of a book reading slump, it lofted me out of it. Well written, flows easily.
Wow Loved the writing of this one as well as her others. When the inheritance comes in and she travels to escape her abusive ex husband, she falls into a trap. A trap that should be a nice brother, but isn't. Definitely a good one.
