Robin Leigh Miller resides in central Pennsylvania with her husband, three children, German Shepard Tae' and mutt hound Bailey. She now lives a quiet, subdued life in comparison to her younger years of dirt track racing in stock cars. An adrenaline junky, these days she enjoys putting her characters through their paces.
Action, adventure and a touch of paranormal can be found in her books. "Enter a world where anything can happen... and usually does" is her motto and reflects her writing style. Sometime the mundane can become insane. Take a walk on the wild side and join her heroins as they muttle through the twists and turns life throws at them. And of course, there's always the hunky guy to catch them when they fall.
While this book was classified as erotica and published by a publisher that specializes in this genre, it could easily be marketed as a murder mystery or thriller. When a woman crashes her car in Buffalo, NY while fleeing a murderer from Sioux City, IA a handsome gentleman pulls her from the wreckage. When she refuses to go to the hospital he takes her to his home. The story then takes several turns in both romance and crime as we learn about Jessica, who reveals herself as a psychic with personal demons from her past, and Reed who has some issues and demons of his own.
The best aspect of this book are the two main characters and how they not only become a perfect match but also how the reader learns what makes both of them tick. Jessica was using her special talents to aid in finding a serial killer, which also put her in greater danger. Reed had a run-in with the law that puts him currently on parole when he is really just trying to help others. The chemistry between them, even when one is very angry with the other, is magnificent. Ms. Miller also put the reader into the mind of each character with great insight into their thoughts - whether it was lust, fear, or anger. The reader knew what the feelings and thoughts were and WHY that was happening. A reader cannot help but admire both of these characters.
The story itself, both the crime portion and erotic parts (not graphic sexual situations, but very racy and steamy) were situations that fans of either genre have read before, but the combination was well-woven with these two characters and the reader certainly will be cheering for both of them to not only fall in love and live happily ever after, but also to catch and/or kill the horrible criminals. In that aspect, it does fall into line with many other stories.
Overall, a very good book with wonderful characters as the hero and heroine that are very believable and people that you can connect with.
Jessica Crist is a psychic who works with the Sioux City police. Usually this fact is kept from the public and out of the papers but the latest case has changed things. Writing about the case of a particularly nasty serial killer, an ambitious reporter somehow finds out about Jess and prints her name in the paper...
