Half a star if I could. Poorly written, many times there were errors resulting in the characters names being switched out. This could be a 8 chapter book vs the 1000+ chapters. Stopped reading after chapter 8 when it became clear how repetitive, abusive & outdated the storyline was. “Lead” female character has 0 substance & is repeatedly abused, it got to be too much once I realized the characters arch was about being raped over & over after being manipulated into a marriage with a man she doesn’t know, but is somehow the most powerful among the “elite” …? Save yourself the trouble.
I didn’t get to finish this book because it is SO LONG and i was happy at where i finished and didn’t want my heart to break so yea… I give this book four stars because of how much fun i had while reading it and everything that it made me feel.
This book is just horrible. I stopped reading because it never seemed to stop. At a point I sat back and wondered why I was putting myself through such psychological torture. I tried to look for the silver lining but this entire book and it's characters are all garbage.
The female lead is just a victim. That's all she ever is. The poor woman has been through it all, yet stays with the man who is responsible for such torment (the male lead). If it isn't physical abuse, its rape, if not rape, it's financial abuse, if not that, his friends are bullying her and the male lead(Shaun) is just watching and rarely does anything to stop it, if not that, she gets acid thrown in her face. The only good person in FMs life is her friend Freya. And I guess the author had to ruin her too and make her another victim.
I hate how the women in the book are set to suffer time and time again, and yet, ALWAYS staying with their abusers. Catherine(female lead) staying with Shaun after he makes her eat food for his pet, raping her, being the reason for her kidnapping, his friend forcing her to strip and bully her, dating her half sister to spite her, treating her like a slave, falling for his first love who makes him chain Catherine in a mental hospital and planning to steal their babies when she gives birth to give to his first love, kidnapping her to rape her again and get her pregnant because she ran away to give birth after the mental hospital fiasco.
Freya, Catherine's best friend, who is paired up with Rodney, the bastard who forced Catherine to strip and bully her because he didn't like her. Freya and Rodney hook up, Freya discovers she's pregnant but is not ready. What happens? Rodneys sister switches out her birth control pill to something else so she ends up pregnant anyway. Now she has to have a baby she's not ready for, with this asshole bastard who's all of a sudden had a change of heart and loves her. Then later on reveals he's in love with Shaun's first love, and decides to be with her instead of Freya. Has a change of heart again and beats Freya and forgets about his kid for that bitch(I forgot her name). I honestly skipped this part because I couldn't anymore. Later on Freya finds a decent man who loves her, Rodney is angry and jealous and plans to make her suffer. Drama ensues.
Rodneys sister also getting her own version of suffering and getting raped by Freya's brother (I think), who is her husband that she loves uncontrollably, because it can't be abuse without the love. Because of a simple misunderstanding that could've been sorted out had he opened his damn mouth. I stopped at this point because the anger and pain I was feeling was too much to bear.
Everyone in this story is either a victim or an evil abuser. Catherines family abuses her and favours the other sister Rebecca even though Rebecca has shown time and time again that she's a selfish good for nothing. Then it's revealed it's because Catherine is adopted. Which still isn't a good enough reason to torture a child like that. Rebecca's parents get their comeuppance. But Rebecca remains at large and somehow manages to brainwash Catherine's real parents to believing she's their daughter and that Catherine is some evil monster. So what do they do? They take it upon themselves to torture Catherine because Rebecca said so. This goes on for far too long. By the time they come out of the brainwashing, it's too late. The parent-child bond is no more. Worse part?? Rebecca has an off-screen death. All we hear is that she fell off a roof. Tf?? After everything she did, THAT'S her end?? And that's the only reason the parents were able to come out of the brainwashing.
The entire book is a test of "how long can you read until you're disgusted and disappointed in yourself for reading this garbage". The author just creates female characters to suffer. Every single one of them. Yet the men receive little to no justice for all the horrors they inflict on the women. Even when they start to suffer for what they did, the women will forgive and forget. This book is a psychopaths/mysogynists wet dream. I mean who the hell can forgive someone after THAT MUCH abuse?? I haven't even gotten into how Catherine had to eat expired food and drink grimey water because of Shaun. And Shaun?? No justice for him. None at all. It all works out for him.
The kids?? Those little shits aren't like any kids I've ever seen. What toddler calls someone "scummy daddy"? And no, they didn't hear it from anyone. They literally made it up to describe Shaun. Those aren't kids. They're little trolls in kid bodies. At first they want to make their dad suffer for how Catherine suffered, next thing you know is "he's my daddy"?? Since when??? They're sellouts. Not realistic at all. They act like they're older than Catherine too.
I remember reading and thinking "what exactly is wrong with this author"?? Sis needs to get serious help. Quick. If I ever found out my friend or sister wrote this book, I would be scared and worried for them. How did you sit down to write this?? Why?? What possessed you? Are you proud? How do you feel after reading what you wrote? Is that how you want your husband to treat you? Is that how you want your daughters to be treated? All in the name of love?? The way you've written the characters, especially the male characters, leads me to believe a man can completely ruin you and make you unrecognisable and you'd still bow at his feet and lick his boots because he said "sorry". Are you a masochist? Even then, there are limits.
All in all, this book is a mess and is gonna be one of your top ten biggest regrets in life forever.

The editing(or lack thereof) is awful. This could be a good story but names are often switched, and it borders on unrealistic. In fact, in regards to the 2-3 year old twins, this author obviously has never had children. Kids this age do not act or speak like that. At all. The author also seems to be very immature, as in a middle school girl. They refer to sex as “doing it” and there are many clues that the author is inexperienced in life. This is not meant to be mean, but the editor should be ashamed.
I truly loved the beginning ❤ coz yeap am into bad boys with extra charisma 😅 however after i finished the latest chapter i can't tell why the lights are being focused on the other characters ... yes i like to know ofc but i am more into the main characters... however am still in love with it 😍
I think i've read this before on wattpad Or somewhere. There was seperate book for each couple cathy and shaun, Rodney and freya, chester and charity, later also for lucas and Suzie when they grew up. Each book with different names
I thought this is a lit book little did i know it was toxic as hell it was kind of like a daily soap where every a new character reappears. However the main female have been tortured utterly by the male lead GOSHH SUCH A WASTE OF TIME. DEAR AUTHOR KINDLY STOP AND GIVE THEM A HAPPY ENDING
Though I like the story line. I would have appreciated it if the chapters were reduced. There were a lot of repetitions and name swapping. I believe it was translated from an original version to English. Good work trial.

Very, very long and, at times, inconsistent. The male protagonist doesn't just feel but is very toxic... glad I doulnt finish and left it mid way (at around chapter 1700 something)
I don’t know why I decided to read this novel. It looked promising, but chapter after chapter, it has repeatedly disappointed and disgusted me with its attempt ag positive parading of toxic relationships.
Save yourself the headache and infuriating feelings you will get when you read this. The female lead, Catherine, is repeatedly treated like a slave by Shaun (male lead). It is not romantic or sexy to see how Shaun treats Catherine and continuously accuses her of cheating. A toxic cesspool of a relationship between two traumatized characters being paraded as romantic love and a crappy version of a “ride or die” dynamic.
Seriously, if you think Shaun’s controlling behavior, gaslighting, financial abuse, emotional abuse, and sexual assault is romantic. Get help. I would rate this a -1000 if I could.
