Under the name K.T. Coatney, I write fast-paced suspense featuring the elite agents of FIRE—Federal Investigations and Reconnaissance Enforcement—where danger is real, the stakes are high, and love is the last line of defense.

As Kathy Coatney, I bring that same passion for storytelling to deeply emotional, small-town contemporary romance. My novels explore themes of love, community, and the agricultural roots that have shaped my life. Some readers may remember me as Kate Curran, but these days, all my books are published under the Coatney name.

I’m also the author of the nonfiction children’s series From the Farm to the Table and Dad’s Girls, celebrating the journey from farm to fork.

A 3 book, somewhat formulaic series about life in a small town.
1. An injury-retired baseball player is faced with lies that he is the biological sire of a groupie's 7 year old son, and around the same time an old flame from high school calls him because his dad's leukemia has returned and he needs a bone marrow transplant and help with the farm - the farm. This is the farm he ran away from as a teenager. Meanwhile, the old flame has been tutored in running her parent's farm after she was orphaned. They once were an item. Is it too late for a reconciliation, esp. since he is still not enamored of the small town, or of farming, and his father is not interested in a bone marrow transplant?
2. The town doctor has been raised by his physician father that his patients come before his family. As a result, the night his 2 year old son is killed in a car accedient, he is operating, doing an elective surgery on a stranger. Every year he withdraws from the world on the anniversary of his son's death. Meanwhile, he has slowly fallen for Cassie, whose mom died when she was very young, and whose father shows up unexpectedly to get to know her, carrying proof he did not know of her exostence until recently. Also, her cousin, a substance abuser, has dropped his 3 boys, aged 9, 10, & 12, on her doorstep and promises to show up and take them home, or at least out for an outing, but he never does. Cassie is single and has never had kids before but is doing her best. She is willing to keep them but their father will not give up custody. Griffin is willing to go out of his way to help Cassie but not to let her help him when his memories of his son's death threaten to overwhelm him.
3. They all call him Lord Mumford, even though he isnt a real Lord, because he is so proper and prim all the time. He raised his 3 nieces on his own, and one of the 3 has followed in his footsteps and owns theatiers in Idaho. When Uncle Cornelius has a heart attack, the only one close enough to come right away is Willa. Hannah is stranded on an isle in Scotland and their other sister is in the Australiam outback out of reach of cell towers. Willa can see that changes to the original design and may bring in more revenue. Take a dive into the lives and loves of small town Indiana.

I enjoyed this 3 book series on family and love relationships. I cared about the characters in these books and how they interrelated with each other. I also enjoyed how when one book ended with those main characters, we still have them in the other books and we find out what happens to them. This book is also about how families work, love, and help each other out. The books for me were easy reading and I was able to read it during a busy time for me. I didn't realize that the story continues with more books after the initial 3. I will try to read these also in the future to see how their lives continue.

I enjoyed this three book series on family, love and relationships. I liked the characters and how they related to each other. I loved the smooth transition from one book to the next, how they built on each other. There was a lot of fun and happy times, along with the seriousness of each situation, how everyone looked out for each other. I loved the fact there was no planning with each individual character who continued to love each other and found their ever after. There were honest emotions and realistic triumphs which kept me reading.

small town big hearts

Though the order of love and marriage is a mess, you’ll enjoy the characters and development of relationships. If you like small town romance, the Murphy clan is your series.

Loved this story! Ben, Willa, Cassie, and Griffin and all the others are great characters. The story of their love and commitment to each other as friends, family and lovers was all engrossing for me.

Forever His
She was dedicated to saving her family farm (while still sneaking in some agri-research (who new there was peppermint farming). He was dedicated to a career in baseball until he blew out a knee in his prime. He has returned home to save his family farm next door to hers. In this story we get to know the people of Hope’s Crossing .. and there are certainly some fun people. The amount of sex is well done and moves the story forward. It is easy to care about the characters.
Forever Mine
She is the hairstylist from prior book. Her mom and brother are/were both addicts. She is raising her nephews without support. He has come to town leaving his famous medical career and former baseball skills to run a local medical practice and also becomes involved in the minors baseball league from prior book. She has to get past his baseball sex idol reputation while also taking on custody of her nephews and being helped by him to raise them.
Forever Yours
In prior stories they mentioned the aristocrat behaving Mumford. We now finds he owns the old time 2nd run movie theatre. Willa ran it with him until he just would not listen to her and she left town and opened a successful drive in (even with winter weather) and theatre like his that she upgraded to great success. She comes home when he has a heart attack. There she meets the bad boy of baseball and struggles with having a relationship when she has to be in other theatre locales while working to heal Mumford and getting sisters home to help and.. whew.. complex with the dual theme of healing the family and falling in love with reformed bad boy.
I totally enjoyed all 3 and loved how each new book updated the prior books.
