The Silent Orgasm: From Transpersonal to Transparent Consciousness

Rate this book
It is only during orgasm that the individual achieves a state of authentic well-being in which time and space lose all significance. Gunter Nitschke presents a new and remarkable form of meditation couched in a blend of far eastern tradition and modern western consciousness. His method, however, does not focus solely on orgasm. It goes one step further to embrace the phase that follows physical fulfillment, uniting active orgasm and the passive hunting technique of "lying in wait" in a holistic process.

The author provides compelling evidence of how his orgasmic technique can help us all to reap the benefits of this calm and tranquil phase without falling into post-coital depression. Neither strict rituals nor consciousness-altering substances are needed to counter the divided self and attain an awareness of our innate wholeness that permits us to achieve a more intensely lucid state of consciousness. In the search for the origins of his forms of meditation in the world of literature and art, Gunter Nitschke takes the reader on a fascinating voyage of discovery through the erotic art traditions of Tibet and Nepal.

The best of this book is its beautiful illustrations. The rest is not so profound. It is better to consult the original sources on Tantra and other traditions, because the understanding disclosed in the text is, at best, fragmented and eclectic. The first three chapters and the chapter on the Silent Orgasm are interesting though. But the overall title of the book and its appearance as a Taschen edition is misleading.
