Spies Never Quit

Rate this book
If the only way to save her mother is to act like a spy, Mari can act like a spy.

Maybe.

After her mother is abducted, Mari Sandoval breaks into her mother’s research lab in an ill-advised attempt to appease the kidnappers. Fortunately she’s thwarted by two spunky sorority girls who offer her a better way to save her mother—become a spy.

In the fast-paced world of undercover agents—where fabulous new clothes, high-tech gadgets, and flirting for secrets are the norm—Mari’s inexperience could ruin everything.

Will she be able to master the art of espionage in time to rescue her mother from the clutches of a maniac? Or will her undercover mission doom them both to imprisonment?

Spies Never Quit is a cute spy-thriller where the romance is sweet and the suspense is cozy.

Book Reviewed on www.whisperingstories.com

College freshman Mari Sandoval has a big problem. A shadowy figure calling himself “Brax” has kidnapped her scientist mother and is holding her hostage until Mari hands over Mom’s top-secret research. Alone and unsure, Mari is about to do just that when she’s stopped by a group of young women calling themselves the “Banana Girls.”

Mari soon learns that these women may be college students but they’re no ordinary coeds. They live in a posh penthouse, fight like ninjas, drive a fleet of exotic cars, and have gadgets James Bond would envy. What follows is a page-turning adventure with Mari and the Banana Girls teaming up to try to rescue Dr. Sandoval and checkmate the bad guys. Mari is certainly motivated, but she’s not an experienced spy. Can she pull off her undercover assignment or will the bad guys prevail?

This book is a spy thriller and more. Although she’s barely out of high school, Mari finds she must jump into adulting with both feet. She tackles the challenge with grit and steadfast determination. As the story progresses, she grows to overcome her self-doubts, ultimately discovering she’s capable of much more than she imagined.

I like strong female characters and Spies Never Quit has plenty of them. The four Banana Girls are smart and resourceful, of course. Plus, Mari herself has more strengths and talents than she realized. As supporting characters, the Banana Girls are somewhat less fleshed out, but they are still (mostly) convincing. And I was impressed that a male writer did such an excellent job making his female protagonists believable. Furthermore, when the tension ratchets up, it’s done with action, not produced artificially by having characters play head games with themselves.

At times, the book is a bit over the top. For example, the Banana Girls have cars that can change color on demand, they have a seemingly endless supply of high-tech electronics, and the supposedly top-secret operation runs out of a flashy condo. But spy stories are often over the top, and Spies Never Quit never reaches the level of satire of, say, Get Smart, the spy spoof show that played on American television in the 1960s.

Even if it is a bit escapist, this book was so much fun to read I had no trouble suspending disbelief when the story required it. Spies Never Quit is a thriller and an adventure with a dash of romance. For me, it was a thoroughly enjoyable read. I’m eagerly looking forward to the promised sequel.

Spies Never Quit is the first book in the Banana Girls trilogy. Although classified as a teen and young adult fiction, I feel that this book falls within the middle grade genre due to its simplistic writing style.

I didn't particularly care for the characters. But from a middle grade perspective, they were cute, intelligent and innovative. To me, they reminded me of Carmen and Juni from the Spy Kids movie.

The plot is simple. Mari's mother is kidnapped and it's up to Mari and the Banana Club Girls to rescue her from her captors. In their quest, the girls must figure out a way to outsmart the kidnappers using wit, technology and ninja-like moves.

Overall, Spies Never Quit is an entertaining read, perfect to middle grade mystery fans. Four stars.

I received a digital copy of the book from the author. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

i was a little skeptical going into this book. it’s pitched for those who love gallagher girls (and seriously, i love gallagher girls). i was worried it wouldn’t be good enough, or well written, blah blah. much to my surprise, i was blown away. although i didn’t love it in quite the same way, it’s high on my list of recommended spy/snooping/etc/etc books. this will easily be a book i can recommend time and time again.

i adored the characters – they call themselves the banana girls (yes, i giggled too). they are all different in their own ways, although their names are very similar. you have hannah, anna, susanna (susie), katianna (katie). the main character is mari, (called marina at one point), and clearly not a banana girl. each brought something new to the table and made the story more enjoyable.

i didn’t care much for the romance, but it wasn’t focused on much, so i let it slide. it felt a little unrealistic that in mari’s first day on the job, she had two good looking guys after her. (in reality, you’re lucky if there’s one good looking guy at your workplace okay). again, it wasn’t the main focus, but it was a thought i had.

overall, spies never quit is a fun, light hearted read for those looking for easy entertainment. based on my rating, i clearly recommend it to those who’re into spy related books.

I am head over peel for this fun and fresh read!! I was completely getting a Charlie's Angles and B.A.P.S vibe with its own unique twists. A great YA mystery with the perfect amount of romance mixed in, that I just could not put down. Looking forward to book #2, Spies Never Swoon.

I've had a glimpse of both the old and the new cover - the old cover had chick lit vibes, which suited the book since it is a fairly light book; but I love the new cover as well.
Trey reminded me of a certain character from a certain TV show. Even though he seems like a decent character, I personally didn't quite take to him. This is an author to watch out for - I enjoyed this book; and look forward to reading more of his books in the future.

This is a fun action/spy novel that seems to be intended for the YA audience but I (well past that age) enjoyed it too. The Banana Girls' are lots of fun; the action is plentiful; the story moves fast; the bit of romance is nice and clean. What more could you want?

This is a fun YA story. I liked the James Bond-ness/Batman (cool cars, gadgets, "bat cave") as well as the plot with multiple baddies. Who to trust?! AND it's a clean read which is awesome. I received this book for free for an honest review.

If you’re looking for a cozy thriller that has a team of young women with Charlie’s Angels vibes, tech that even James Bond would be jealous of, and with just a sprinkling of sweet romance, then “Spies Never Quit” may just be for you. In the first book of the series (each book following a different woman in the group) follows Mari, a brand-new college freshman, as she attempts to rescue her mother. Mari’s mother is a brilliant scientist working on nano-bot technology who has been kidnapped in order to force her to give up her specialized codes for evil gains. Mari would do anything to save her mother, and, lucky for her, retrieving her mother’s work just so happens to be the Banana Girls mission, too. Normally, I am all for a spy thriller with a predominately female cast of characters, but something always felt just a tad off to me throughout the story.

The plot and writing are easy to follow, which suits the cozy, low intensity atmosphere of this younger feeling story. All the characters—including the bad guy—are in their early twenties. The youngness of the characters was often at odds with either their wealth, their hand-to-hand skills, or even their brilliance. You have characters who are masters with computers and drones with dozens of fancy cars that can change color on a whim, and yet they still need to attend college classes. With how sweet the romance is as well, I’d say that the audience for this book is much younger than what the new cover suggests. Which isn’t a bad thing, just don’t go into this expecting anything serious. This is especially true of characters like Susan who are overly dramatic in speaking with their hands. Which brings me to what felt off about these characters: they all read a bit too much like caricatures of women, just cardboard cutouts of each other with no real depth to them, a stereotypical obsession with looks and boys, and treating the whole spy thing like a game. This is especially true with how much they all lean into the “Banana” thing for their secret organization. To be honest, that got a bit tiresome at times but, again, a younger audience may get a kick out of it.

“Spies Never Quit” is a quick read, and if suspenseful thrillers aren’t your thing, but you still like a fun spy novel, you may enjoy this more than I did. I think for me it just really came down to the fact that I didn’t love how all these women tended to fall into clichés. The writing just didn’t mesh well with me in that regard, which is partially why I’m giving this 3 stars, the rest has to do with the Banana aspect of the book. It’s not a bad read by any means, and, like I mentioned, can be a lot of fun for younger audiences—think MG readers. Plus, it’s a nice well contained story which is always a good thing! And thanks to the author for providing a copy for review!

As a Book Reviewer, I received a free ebook copy of Spies Never Quit by M. Taylor Christensen and this is my honest review. I was not required to write a positive nor any review.

Spies Never Quit by M. Taylor Christensen is the first book in the “Banana Girls” series. Mari Sandoval’s mother is kidnapped and the kidnappers tell Mari she must break into her mother’s research lab and get them some information from her mother’s most recent research. However, when Mari attempts to follow the kidnapper’s demands, she is thwarted by some sorority girls.

Mari ends up moving in with the sorority girls for her protection and for their help. It turns out the sorority girls are none other than the “Banana Girls”--spies! Mari wants to help free her mother, so the Banana Girls help her get a job inside the company they suspect is connected to the kidnapper.

In addition to working under cover, Mari must flirt with a couple of the men in the company in order to gain information that could lead her to her mother.

Spies Never Quit is a fun read full of adventure, danger, fight scenes, and romance. I found the first chapter or two a bit slow-paced, but after that, I couldn’t stop turning pages. The Banana Girls are a unique group of girls who are making their way through college life, while working as spies on the side. In addition to all of their yellow Banana vehicles, they all have rhyming names, and they each bring a special skill to the group that helps them with their missions.

M. Taylor Christensen has created interesting characters the reader enjoys following through adventures while rooting for them to crack the case and save Mari’s mom from the kidnappers. M. Taylor Christensen also created a fun romantic interest in the middle of Mari’s struggle to release her mom, in the form of a sweet character named Trey who works in the company. He flirts with Mari and lets her know he’s interested, and when Mari decides to take a chance and trust him, he helps her find time within her workday to explore the entire building complex of the company.

Between heart pounding suspense, action-packed fight scenes, some humorous dialogue lines, and the sweet romance, you won’t want to put the book down.

The suspense, danger, and fight scenes are not explicitly violent nor graphic, and the romance is clean.
If you enjoy fun clean reads, you will enjoy Spies Never Quite by M. Taylor Christensen.

I received a free ARC of this book and am leaving a voluntary and honest review.

I think the original cover fits better for Spies Never Quit. It gave a younger, Chicklit vibe that better suits what's inside the cover, instead of the adult-like cover.

I was expecting a more serious book, and so I wasn't prepared for the young feel. The whole 'banana' thing got on my nerves and it took away from the story a little, because I was always cringing at the constant "banana girls" and the "banana club" and the "banana teen car". It felt like every other page had some sort of banana mention, and that was not it for me. Especially since the characters were meant to be mid-college students, and yet they were acting like middle schoolers.

The characters were like cardboard cutouts of each other. It didn't help that 'Anna' and 'Hannah' were both characters - and Mari was the only one with a special name. Sure, 'Susan' and 'Katie' didn't end in -ana, but they didn't need a pronunciation guide in the first few pages. (Mari had to stand out somehow, so we get a play-by-play of how to pronounce her name properly.)

And everyone acted too young for what they were set at. The bad guys acted a lot older - I imagined Chaz to be mid-30s because he owns a mansion/runs a business/etc. but apparently he's barely pushing 20?) and that was only made evident when they kept making innuendos that could be considered sexual if you think about them. They keep licking their lips when they speak of/think about the girls, which is to further rove that they needed to be creepy and evil and old so everyone would seem older.

I don't get how Mari was so good at hand-to-hand combat, especially to kick a gun out of someone's hand. (She liked to kick a lot. And by that, I mean most of her moves was a 'roundabout kick' or some type of kick.) In the beginning, she took out a drunk college guy, which is believable with her two weeks of self-defense classes. However, two weeks of self-defense classes shouldn't stop 30-year-old men with guns and hired help. Unless she was formally trained in weightlifting, she probably couldn't push them off if they fell on her. And so the fighting scenes seemed unrealistic and in-your-face about them, too.

It's not like I read Spies Never Quit for a realistic feel, but there was so much pointing to how young and false it was. It wasn't bad plot-wise, but I won't be reading it again.

After reading The Gallagher Girls series in middle school, I have pretty high expectations for spy books - and let me tell you, Spies Never Quit did NOT disappoint!
Mari is a college freshman who must save her mother from kidnappers and stop them from stealing technological secrets with her newfound friends, a group of college-age female spies.
This book was complete wish fulfillment on my part from the kick-butt action to the swoon-worthy romance! And the supportive girl group was spot on female friendship (with the exception of Hannah, but she will come around...).
Mari was a great main character, with probably too much fighting ability (but it was awesome so I don't mind) who held her own among drastically new circumstances. Not only did she just start college and move to an apartment on her own, she was now playing an active part in saving her mom from a kidnapper. Boy, do I wish I could be as brave as Mari!
The Banana Girls were wonderful! I love female friendship in books, and since I went to an all-girls middle and high school, I can really relate to a strong group of female friends. And they were a perfect group of girls, supporting Mari and having each other's backs.
Carol, while a side character, was amazing and supportive and I hope I always have a co-worker looking out for me like she did for Mari!
Trey was SO CUTE! What a perfect gentleman and an even more perfect love interest! Is it too much to ask to find myself a Trey?

Basically, I HIGHLY recommend this book if you like spies, action, female friendships, and a side of sweet romance! Oh and cool gadgets (I can never get enough of gadgets).

When Mari's mother (a high profile scientist) drops out of sight, Mari gets caught in the crosshairs. While she is good (as in self defense) she still needs the help of a mystery girl to get away from some evil men. Before long this freshman college student is embroiled in a spy agency, working to find and rescue her mom.

One needs to suspend belief a little while enjoying this book. I doubt an average 18 year old girl would be as proficient in self defense under pressure as Mari is.
Also some of the Banana Girl abilities and "tricks" are beyond real. (Color changing cars? Cool idea, but not that believable.)

Characters, while interesting, don't seem to be fully developed. Case in point is one person who is a FBI Agent but comes across as clueless and depending on Mari for a plan.

But remembering it's fiction, I have to admit the book was fast paced fun with many thrills and some laughs along the way.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It’s a cozy thriller that’s paced extremely well, it’s not confusing at all and the storyline is overall amazing. It’s a perfect girl power book as the main character is truly a bad ass woman. I absolutely love that she wasn’t an amazing or perfect spy, she didn’t just fall into the role of spy and be amazing at it, she had to mold herself into that role. She also is family oriented and would do anything for her mother. On top of all this, it’s a really good thriller that keeps you on your toes. If you’re looking for a cozy thriller that’s truly an awesome read, check this out!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Spies Never Quit by M. Taylor Christensen is spectacular! I love the empowerment and camaraderie. The Banana Girls are fantastic spies.
Will Mari turn over the secret code to save her mother's life, or will the Banana Girls figure out another way?
Mari Sandoval
Mari isn't your average college student, but most people haven't figured that out. When Mari's mom is kidnapped for her nanobot code, the culprits try to get Mari too, but she is unexpectantly able to get away from them. Mari shows remarkable self-defense skills but is that enough to save her mom? Mari encounters the Banana Girls when the goons try to take Mari and when she tries to get the code from her mother's office.

It's nice to see Mari's growth as a capable agent emerges. If this case weren't personal, she might have had fewer waterworks.
Spies Never Quit CRThe Banana Girls
Anna, Hannah, Susana, and Katiana are all ninja-like spies. They have a fancy penthouse apartment, cars, training areas, and high-tech gadgets. Each of the girls has a different specialty that makes the group work well. The dynamics of the girls are like a sisterhood. I love the way they play to each other's strengths and assist Mari with seeing her full potential.
Five Stars
I enjoyed reading Spies Never Quit, the spies and espionage parts are good, but my favorite is the girls' relationships. My rating for Spies Never Quit by M. Taylor Christensen is five stars. If you are looking for a sweet spy mystery, I highly recommend this one.

Going Bananas

Mari Sandoval is your typical college student. Making her way through classes and campus, she’s got enough to worry about. But when a stranger comes to her rescue after she has a run-in with some shady individuals, Mari’s world is turned upside down. After she returns to her apartment she learns that her mother has been kidnapped, and Mari is enlisted by the kidnappers to obtain and forward a pivotal piece of her mom’s research if she ever wants to see her alive again. But as she attempts to break into her mother’s lab to retrieve the information, she is confronted by the very person who saved her the night before. What Mari knows cannot be a coincidence is confirmed when Anna and her partner take her back to their posh Atlanta penthouse apartment. Dubbed as the Banana Club, Mari is introduced to a world unlike she has ever known as the self-proclaimed “Banana Girls” vow to help Mari get her mother back. With the girl’s help, Mari goes undercover – way out of her league and way over her head. Will her association with the Banana Girls, help her save her mother, or will it lead to them both being killed?

Spies Never Quit is the first in the Banana Girls series of cozy spy novels by author M. Taylor Christensen. Set in the Metro Atlanta area, Christensen weaves the tale of a covert group of college-age girls who moonlight as spies. When something goes wrong and the “big guns” are called in, the Banana Girls are usually the ones deployed. As smart as they are beautiful, each girl brings to the table a unique specialty that they leverage to the best of their abilities. Taking Mari under their wing, the team transform her from a meek coed to… not quite a seasoned undercover agent. And of course, there are bumps and wrinkles along the way. While some may feel the premise and action are at times unbelievable, I thought it was the perfect blend of “Charlie’s Angels” meets “Nancy Drew”. The action was fast-paced, the gadgets fantastical and the Banana Girls themselves were portrayed with a comfortable camaraderie that the reader cannot help but like them, even the stoic lead Banana Girl, Hannah.

If you are in the mood for a lighthearted cozy novel that is easy to read and will have you giggling out loud, Spies Never Quit would be a great choice. After having been introduced to Mari, Hannah Anna, and the rest of the team I am curious to see what future adventures and missions the team girls are tapped for in future installments.

What do you do when some Uber Bad Guys kidnap your research scientist mom and force you to steal and hand over all her research so they can build a huge lethal weapon, or else?

If your name is Mari Sandoval, you try to break into your mom’s lab and comply. Foiled by some spunky sorority girls who are more than they appear to be, the eighteen year-old college freshman considers her next move. And what it may cost.

When Mari joins up with the Banana Girls, a quartet of skilled undercover agents who specialize in “helping people,” she’s clearly in over her head. In fact, her inexperience could ruin everything, especially when she infiltrates the mansion where her mother’s being held and meets an irresistibly handsome colleague.

But whose side is Trey on? Can Mari trust him with her heart? Does her boss suspect? Can she locate her mom and master the art of “ninja girl” espionage before time runs out - for both Mari and her mom? Will she be able to catch up in her linear algebra class?

This brisk spy thriller is a light, enjoyable read. Perfect for curling up with a hot cuppa whatever in front of a roaring fire, Spies Never Quit offers action, adventure, and suspense. Also clever disguises. High tech gadgets. Fast cars. Glamorous gowns and “venomous high heels.” Ditto plenty of spunk, a large dose of sass, and a generous side of gentle humor.

It's just FUN!

Tightly written and expertly paced, Spies Never Quit is engaging, lithe, and surprising. Just when you think you know where it’s going, the author takes a U-turn and it’s off to the races around the next bend! (The “Banana Cave” is worth the price of admission alone.)

The story features strong, smart, independent female characters. They think and reason their way out of tight situations but can throw a punch or a roundhouse kick with the best of ‘em when necessary. Additionally, the balance between “spy novel” and clean romance is pitch-perfect.

The ending leaves the door open for a prequel and a sequel. Can't wait! You'll want to grab your own copy as well as a hot cuppa and the nearest banana.

We don't typically gravitate toward "spy thrillers." We made an exception for Spies Never Quit. We're glad we did. Cuz this one's a winner.

As a girl who grew up playing “Spies” with all the neighbor kids, I was super excited to read this book!

At first I was intrigued, it was like all the movies where you’re sitting there asking everyone “Why’s he chasing her?” “Who’s the bad guy? Who’s the good guy?” “Who should she trust?”. However as the story untangled, I was slightly disappointed with it. While I know people read spy books and watch spy movies knowing that some, if not most, parts are going to be unrealistic, this book felt like almost everything was unrealistic.

One of my personal pet peeves in the very beginning was the fact that Mari, the main character, took two whole weeks of self defense classes and was apparently a master at it. Having taken Krav Maga classes for years myself, I knew this to not be true.

I enjoy deep characters, and while I feel like Mari had some parts of depth to her I did feel that her surrounding characters, aka, “The Banana Girls” all felt very childish, or in the least, immature in a lot of ways, while they were supposed to be in college. I felt like the story line overall came about by a good idea, I’m just not sure that the execution was where I thought it would/should be. It felt like one of those cheesy spy movies where you wanted to know which handsome guy you should trust, in the midst of an okay spy theme. That being said, it was enjoyable in the way that there was no bad language or true “sexual” content.

Overall this book wasn’t one that I couldn’t put down or would be broken hearted if I didn’t finish. It was a clean and enjoyable read when you overlooked the silly spy things that just didn’t make sense. At the end when I read that the author would be writing a back story for the Banana Girl Characters, I decided that I wouldn’t mind reading it, to maybe help unravel some of the curiosities that made this story what it was. I didn’t want to tell all the spy parts I didn’t think made sense, as I don’t want to spoil anything! I would say to give this book a try if you enjoy a light, clean spy story.

Whew! 😂😳😍😅

Spies Never Quit

I seriously LOVED this book, and I wish I had discovered this series sooner!! Mr. Christensen has done a great job creating fun and true-to-life characters in realistic situations. The spy girls element is exciting, intriguing and all around awesome! I would love to see this made into a movie if they could keep it true to the book. The storyline was fairly clean, with only brief and mild language, and anything or anyone with ill or inappropriate motives and actions was depicted in a clearly disapproving way.

There's tons of classic spy elements such as intense female fight scenes, robots, edgy undercover work, realistic gadgets and tactics, cool cars, deceptively suave villains, and that good girls with guns theme that happens to be my favorite thing. :D

This story also features some positive female role models without them being either feministic or two- dimensional. Mari Sandoval, the leading lady, was a fun and unique character to read about. I really hope we get to see her sometime later in the series.

I received a copy of this book for free from the author, courtesy of Booksirens for my review. A positive review was not required, and the thoughts above are my very own.

Mild language is as follows-
But* 2-3×
Screw*d/scre* up 2-3×
"this little b."
A character is threatened before they can finish what they were going to say.

Sexual content:
One character sports a bikini, the others frown upon it and her excessive flirting habits.
A character makes a suggestive comment above giving someone a personal tour of their living quarters, their unwanted offer is struck down. Another places their hand in a girl's knee meaning to be a comfort, but it's a known and usually a suggestive move from a stranger. Two different couples take a soak (separately) in a hot tub.

I like a mystery that passes the time nicely and this did do that.

I wasn't sure what to make of this book. On one hand it is hi-tech (the Banana Girls' gadgets and surveillance devices) and at other times it is almost cartoonish (the Banana Girls' fleet of colour-changing vehicles, the smuggling of the mouse into the Keating estate).

I found Mari's interactions with Zag-shack guy, Chaz and Trey totally unconvincing, but it has been a long time since I was Mari's age.

A few incidents seemed unlikely. In Chapter 2 Mari uses her Student ID to access her mother's "high security" area of the campus. In Chapter 8 Mari embarks on the rescue mission without bothering about how to explain her re-appearance in the mansion or how to recover her car. Far from being "minor details", these seem to be major flaws in a plan developed by a supposed crack team of spies. In Chapter 12 Mari's cover is blown when Boss-guy recognises her leaving the Keating estate, but Mari doesn't inform the Banana Girls about this. Really??

On Chapter 13 Katie suggests modifying the nano-bot program then in Chapter 14 she works on the program and the code for the second half of the nano-bot time bomb. I found this puzzling, as in Chapter 4 Katie explains that "Susan does some software programming" while she (Katie) "designs the circuits and builds the PCBs and stuff".

Disclaimer: I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book gave me serious Gallagher Girls vibes (it's a series by Ally Carter) AND Charlie's Angels vibes. And I LOVE both. For that reason, I really liked this book. Super cute spy vibes. I am all for it!

First, the cover. I thought the cover was so sophisticated and well put together, but it really didn't go with the college spy vibe. Nevertheless, I liked the cover and the title.

Onto the characters! I really enjoyed Mari. Yes, there were times where I felt like she was too immature to be a college student, but for the most part, Mari was very relatable. I think her conflicts and her inner thoughts definitely made her more real. Her skills though were out of this world. I too have taken a self defense class, but I don't think I could have held my own against kidnappers and assailants. So the fighting part was unrealistic to me (but understandable because this was fiction).

Spies Never Quit is the first book in the Banana Girls series. This is the first book I’ve read by M. Taylor Christenson. I really enjoyed it and so wish that some of the gadgets in this book were available for the everyday public.
College student Mari Sandoval could not understand why someone would try to attack her and why another girl would come to her rescue. And it happened more than once. Then she met the Banana Girls, a group of girls that were spies and were sent to help her find her mother. After some deliberation, the girls take her in to help her find her mother. These spies have some cool devices that they use and some special fighting skills as well as computer skills and the ability to remake a disguise for Mari so that she can go undercover. While undercover, Mari meets two men that are smitten with her. She just wants to find her mother.
This was a very fast paced book and was definitely a page-turner. I look forward to reading the other books in the series.
I was given a free copy of this book for review and the opinion is my own. #SpiesNeverQuit #BananaGirlsBook1 #MTaylorChristenson

*A Thank you to the author for allowing me to read this. This is my honest and unbiased review*

Hello Fellow Readers,

I do love me some mysteries, and this one seemed promising. I was ready for hi-jinks and fun and while Spies Never Quit did deliver it wasn't as quite what I was expecting. Reading through I couldn't put my finger on why I couldn't love the book until the very end. Everyone just seemed so young, yes I know they are all pretty much college aged kids in a world of undercover agents but it really felt like they were younger, but this could just be me a mid-thirties woman being out of touch with the younger generation.

I did enjoy the book, there were some great moments and I actually enjoyed how cliche and evil the bad guys were. Mari was pretty good, even if she sometimes did suffer from Powerful MC syndrome. I didn't really care for the other girls as they just seemed like background noise. The plot was pretty interesting and that was what got me through, I just needed to know what happened at the end

Overall, I think this would be great for someone who is or likes YA fiction

The die-hard spies of the Banana Girls definitely live up to the name of this entertaining, cute spy thriller.

This book was a lot of fun. You might have to suspend your belief in some places and accept that young, twenty-something women can be seasoned spies. But I loved the Banana Girls and enjoyed their antics and amazing gadgets. Mari and the rest of them were all very resourceful and resilient.

The plot flowed along at a great pace and kept my interest all the way through. There was a bit in the middle-ish that slowed down somewhat, but definitely not badly enough to break the suspense. I was truly invested in Mari’s entire quest to find and save her mother.

It was a quick, easy, enjoyable read. I can recommend it if you like impish spies that can creatively get themselves out of scrapes and have mind-boggling spy gizmos. I’m definitely reading the next one.

Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Any time I get a chance to read about spy women, I take it and cherish that it’s still a genre people are writing in. This story was pretty good, though I don’t know if I’ll pick up any other books in this series. The characters were fun, and I enjoyed the plot of this story, but I felt it was a bit lacking. The fight scenes tended to feel awkward to me, and I didn’t feel like all of the characters were as well-rounded as they could’ve been, especially the main character, Mari. This story had a lot of potential, and I still enjoyed it quite a bit, I just don’t think it quite lived up to my expectations. I received a free copy of this story from Hidden Gems and am choosing to leave an honest review of it.

Spies Never Quit is Book 1 in the Banana Girls by M Taylor Christenson. Mari's mother has been abducted. When she attempts to break into her mother's lab, she is stopped by 2 sorority girls, the Banana Girls. This begins a fast paced thriller to save Mari's mother and her nano bots research. I felt the writing was crisp and fast paced. I really like the characters and their actions are believable. I found this to be a wonderful thriller and I can't wait to read book 2. I’m giving this four stars, but I must say that the editing needs work. The plot was fun, and I loved the romance mixed in with the mystery. However, there are errors, and I think a good editor would be helpful. It’s still a fun read, and it’s one that I will be sharing with my students next week after Spring Break.

This was a cute Young Adult/New Adult book about girls who belong in the "Banana Club". They are a group of college girls who moonlight as spies. There were many fun and interesting moments in the book. It is perfect when you need a light read and a little bit of suspense.
