This story left me craving a good cocktail... I just want to go to some bar and get wondrously wasted. I haven't gone out for drinks in ages.
Anyway!
I actually found the secondary subplot involving Rita and Ben more interesting. They have sizzling chemistry, and their back story is compelling. If only Warren hadn't given them that happy ending so quickly!
I read this book on a dare because Romance novels aren't usually my thing, and was disappointed. It seemed like the spicy parts were mostly skipped over.
All work and no play, Natalie Fanshaw is an efficiency expert whose latest job might just get her to loosen up and live a little! After one too many lonely meals alone in her hotel room, she heads to the nearest bar for a drink. There she meets sexy bartender Johnny Santini and he's soon mixing up her emotions along with his award-winning martinis. But can a workaholic professional like Natalie fall in love with a beach bum bartender like “Hot Johnny”?
Nancy Warren delivers a cute, sexy read with Under The Influence. Not only did she create a set of engaging characters in Natalie and Johnny, she actually created two with the smokin' hot subplot of Rita and Ben's relationship. From the fun drink recipes, to an outstanding first chapter that really sparks your curiosity, this book was a breezy, fresh read!
This CheekyGirl has never personally liked the beach bum/surfer type before, but found myself falling for “Hot Johnny!” Warren created an all-around hunk of a guy who you'll love to cuddle up to and I'll be mixing up one of those sublime drinks and sitting back to read this one again soon!
I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately it quickly lost its taste like stale, warm beer. I selected this book because it hit most of my odd ball challenges - red cover, alcohol on cover, Valetine's Day, person named Natalie. BaZing! But the characters were a little too bland for me, and I had a hard time connecting with any of them.
But....Hot Johnny didn't do it for me. He was so laid back I was ready to flatline. And corporate guru Natalie didn't hit any of my buttons either - I just had a hard time relating to her character. So unfortunately, I found myself flipping the pages, skimming whole sections, and wondering when it would end.
This was a fun book about workaholic Natalie in town for a couple weeks on a job and meets laid back bartender 'Hot Johnny' on Valentines day. The action moved along with steamy sex plus an enjoyable secondary romance.
