This book picks up right where book 1 left off, with that mortifying twist!

We really do get to see Nevara grow as a leader as she rebuilds her trust and discovers the truth regarding the Fae and Alec/Penumbra.

Kayda was a welcomed new character, her sass and quick wit really had me giggling.

Though Alec wasn't in this too much, he was always present in the story and I feel the next book will really show how twisted he can be.

Penumbra really was a welcome new love interest, though part of me wishes Nevara hadn't bounced from Alec to starting to have flutters for Penumbra and perhaps even been oblivious in her focus on battle, I enjoyed their budding romance.

The story builds steadily throughout and then it is all action and twists at the end, leaving us very much with another cliffhanger... I'm glaring at you Luna...

I do think my one note would be this book needs an Editors eye, there were a lot of repetitive words and typos and I know that no book can have none but I think this one could do with that being looked at. But it didn't take away from the great story!

*Thank you for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review!*

This sequel picks up right where Priestess of Shadows left off, with Nevara dealing with some shocking betrayals and learning more about her power and the world she lives in.

The writing was so well written and I absolutely flew through this book, the pacing was perfect and I absolutely adored the world building and storyline with the fantasy elements and mana (magic), I'm so glad we got to see more of the world and kingdoms, especially the secret city of Caligo, it gave me massive ACOMAF vibes!

Like the first book I loved the MC Nevara, she's so brave and determined to do the right thing no matter what, she's truly one of the best female leads I've come across in the fantasy genre. The shift in love interests did throw me off initially, I thought it was going to go one way but it took a different direction, as the book progresses I definitely fell in love with the new love interest, especially seeing how he wants the best for Nevara and does everything to protect her.

The fighting scenes towards the end were so well constructed and I loved the way the story went, it was unpredictable and such an emotional rollercoaster. The ending once again leaves on a massive cliffhanger and I absolutely have to know what happens next, I'll eagerly be awaiting book 3!

5/5 🌟

I waited long for this book but it was definitely worth it. I must say that it's even better than the first one . There's so much action. There was no time where I thought this book was boring. It's an absolute highlight.
This book gives us a better insight into the world of the Fae. The reader realizes that it's much bigger than expected with so many new species. It's exciting to discover this amazing world. We meet new characters to which I immediately got attached . Especially Penumbra . It was more than interesting to read about him.
Here I loved Nevara even more. Her character has so much development. In the first book she's kinda childish and naïve, thinking she needs to do everything on her own. But here she realizes what true friendship means. She understands that she can't master everything on her own. She realizes that asking for and needing help isn't a weakness and that her friends and family gives her strength when needed. Nevara is much more mature here.
This book is well written with scenes full of action and suspense. The characters have depth and are so likeable. And the end.....! Wow. It ended too soon. At the end it got sooo exciting, so the cliffhanger killed me. I can't wait to continue this series!
I recommend this to all fantasy lovers from the bottom of my heart . This fantasy series won my heart.

First thought after finishing this book: when comes the next one out? This book picks up right after the ending of book one.

It's a book full with betrayals, unraveling secrets and emotions. After reading the first one I was so excited to read this one and to be honest this one did not disappoint! I loved meeting all these new characters and falling I love with them.

Nevara keeps proving that she is so strong, but that she is also human and has her flaws which helps you with truly connecting with her and feeling for her.

I also liked that we got more interaction with her other friends and new friends and not only focused on Alec.

If you like fantasy with found family, enemies to lovers, friends to enemies, magical battle and a lot of awesome fantasy creatures, you definitely should check this book out!

Last but not least I want to thank the author for providing me with an arc copy of the book.

I had been waiting to finally read the next book in this series and damn.. It did not disappoint! After the ending in priestess of shadows I felt so betrayed and I honestly didn't know what would happen next. This book definitely surprised me, but in a really good way!
Just like the first book I was immediately hooked and couldn't stop reading. I actually finished it at work during my break 😂 my co-workers didn't understand why I was reading and didn't want to sit with them but I just had to keep reading! It was too good.
The author has this amazing way of writing and it just gets you captured so easily!
Even though this book isn't out yet, I already want the next.. I'm ready for it. Keep them coming!! 🤩

I want to thank the author for letting me ARC read this amazing book ❤️

“Life is full of things that we cannot change or see the outcome of. To worry about the future is to torment yourself in the present.”

Priestess of Flames carries on immediately after the first book.

The world building continues in this and we get to experience more of the fae world. I love the side characters too, Kayda is so fun!

When Nevara gets called little shadow… ooh my heart!

Nevara just continues to grow and develop, finally realising she can rely on her friends. Although chapter 28 broke me!

This book has a lot more action and adventure mixed in with the budding romance and the mix is just perfect.

If you’re looking for a new fantasy series I would recommend checking this one out.

I was sent an ARC of this book. My review is my honest opinion.

𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥, 𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐫𝐲.

First these covers are my weakness, second Fae are also my weakness. 😌

This book picks up from where book one (Priestess of Shadows) ended and even though it had been a hot minute since i read it i was immediately teleported back into this wonderfull world full of Fae, Guilds and powerhungry Royalty.

▪︎ Sword wielding, elemental powers, stone magic,..
▪︎ All kinds of magical creatures (Fae*, Kelpies, Orcs...)
▪︎ Found family
▪︎ Romance
*Handsome Fae that are probably too old for you but you have stopped caring about those meager details for your own sanity

I devoured this book like i did the first one sooooo...what are you doing reading my badly written review? Go read these books instead! 👀

Noooo not the cliffhanger 😭😭😭 I’m so annoyed, I thought this was a two book series, why does this keep happening 😭 penumbra 😭 she won’t betray them, I know that for sure! There’s no way, I’m so glad she admitted her feelings before she got taken 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
