We loved each other... only as friends. We married each other... only in Vegas.
A fake ring and a cheap dress didn’t mean anything to me. But the feelings in my heart were real. They were more intense than I wanted them to be. Because Chris and I... could never work. My brother hates him even though he’s always been my BFF. And more than anything? Chris might have said “I do” in Vegas but he only wants to be friends. It’s one thing to suppress my emotions. It’s another to hide my pregnancy.
Chris can’t find out. It’ll ruin whatever it is that we have left. My focus needs to remain on the annulment. And on mending my own heart. Am I being stupid? Probably. But there’s no way that this could end in a happily ever after... could it?
A full length friends-to-lovers accidental wedding romance where everything goes so wrong and is yet so right. The perfect HEA and absolutely no cliff-hanger! ‘Against All Odds’ is a part of the Heart of Hope series but stands alone. Books do not have to be read in order.

If you're a fan of emotional angsty contemporary romance, then you'll enjoy Ajme Williams.
Chris and Petra had been best friends for a long time. And both were in extreme denial, knowing there were feelings there but never admitting even to themselves that it was love and not just friendship. Neither would tell the other anything.
So when they attend a business expo in Vegas, the two of them end up so drunk that they wake up the next day together, married and not remembering what happened! But Petra was sure they could never make a marriage work. Her brother and Chris didn’t get along due to jealousies growing up. And Chris never said he loved her anyway. Despite his marrying her, she knows he only wants them to be friends. Will they get an annulment? Or will a little unexpected “situation” toss that choice out the window?
La historia es apresurada porque intenta encajar tantos puntos de la trama. No hay profundidad en la historia ni ningún atractivo emocional y eso incluye incluso las escenas obscenas.
Petra, the FMC, was the worst. She went on and on about how she was in love with Chris, the MMC and her "best friend", but she treated him very poorly throughout this whole book. She didn't treat him like a man she loved or like a best friend.
If my brother spoke about my best friend the way hers spoke about her, I'd have words for my sibling. The MMC was waaaaay too nice and did not do one thing to incur the wrath of the FMC'S brother.
The brother was jealous of the MMC'S closeness with the siblings father, and mean to the MMC for various reasons that we're hardly reasonable. One reason being that the MMC didn't kiss the FMC when they were teenagers. Apparently, this hurt her feelings, but was not a reason for her brother, Theo, a now grown man, to hold a grudge.
The FMC never stood up for Chris even though he had been a good friend to her, helped her develop her business, and supported her emotionally through the years. Petra didn't even tell her brother that she and Chris had been friends for almost a decade beyond that high school non-incident. She just allowed her brother to be rude and aggressive towards Chris for years. Chris, being the nice guy he was, didn't want to get between the siblings, and never gave back the rudeness he was receiving.
Petra jumped to a negative conclusion about Chris, even though he'd never given her reason to think that he was vindictive or mean. She hid her friendship with Chris from her Theo. She told her brother something that caused him to be even more aggressive and rude to Chris because she was jealous about something. She hurt Chris over and over and he always forgave her until she put her brother's feelings over Chris's on an issue that had nothing to do with him and everything to do with Chris. Then, at the end, she had the nerve to try to make Chris feel guilty and acted as if he was twisting her words around.
She was a petty, selfish, weak, coward and I did not like her. Chris didn't gain half a backbone until the end and was barely more likeable.
The story of two "friends" who love each other but are too cowardly to tell each other, is overshadowed by Petra's overbearing brother and her unwillingness to be honest with him, her other friends, and herself.
Petra didn't try to make amends with Chris until her brother suggested it because, even though he'd treated Chris like trash, he knew that Chris was a good guy and had been in love with his sister forever. 🙄 Why treat him like trash, then.
The heat was medium because the scenes read a little stiff and mechanical. There were way too many people not central to the story introduced. The storyline was not original, but some characters were over the top. One star because there were few typos. Another star because it was mildly interesting.
This is a story about Petra and Chris who grew up together and have had a crush on one another they never take any further. One night at Prom they up alone together and Chris never kisses Petra and she becomes heartbroken. Chris lost his father at a young age and is thankful for others stepping in to help over the years. Petra’s dad ends up being one and it starts a bad relationship with him and his own son, Theo. As the years go by Theo has a very strong dislike for Chris and Petra knows it will come between them. Chris and Theo competed against one another in football and when Chris has a career ending injury he is lucky to have an uncle teach him the real estate business and years later becomes very successful. Theo becomes a professional football player. Petra is also successful with her business of organizing homes and businesses. When they go to Vegas together for a business expo with their assistants they end up drunk and married not remembering a thing. The next day they spend the morning in bed together and over the weekend, then return home as friends until they can’t stay away from each other. These two absolutely love one another and never have the guts to tell them causing nothing but pain and heartache. I enjoyed Zach, Troy, Ryker, Giorgio and Claude making an appearance! When Theo is recovering from an injury he gets unexpected visitors turning his life upside down and Petra is there to help and right after she has life altering news. Their friendship is in turmoil and once they both take advise from others do they get on the same page! This is a love story that is found the hard way. I rated this three and a half stars. This story is one of those plots in which everything hangs upon the participants' complete inability and unwillingness to ever talk about anything. Both Chris and Petra have pined for each other since high school but neither of them ever said anything, so they've settled for being friends. While in Las Vegas, they got drunk married and had sex but they still don't talk about their feelings. Chris calls a lawyer and gets the annulment papers ready before he talks to Petra about anything. They keep the marriage a secret from their friends and family, so that means more of the not-talking. Everyone else can see they're nuts for each other but themselves, they can't. They jump into conclusions based on tiny little comments and overheard snippets, and it's worse because it's a dual point of view so the reader can see how stupid and wrong they are about what they think. Her brother's animosity against Chris gets in the way but again, they don't talk properly. Then there's another development and they don't talk about it.
I like the author's writing style in general and the story flows well so it wasn't a pain to read. But eventually I just wanted to slap them both. Series status: This is part of a series of interconnected friends and families but knowledge of those other books isn't necessary. There are cameos from other series by this author that seem a little superfluous to me but I guess they help screw Chris's head up straight. Steam level: Sex is the only way they communicate.

Chris and Petra's story is a friends to lovers to sorta friends back to lovers romance with a surprise baby to add a twist to their journey. They both have feelings for each other but neither would admit it over the years for fear of losing their friendship and upsetting her brother. They wouldn't even admit it to themselves until it was almost to late. They have been friends since they were teenagers then they crossed the line to lovers during a drunken business trip to Vegas that changed the course of their lives. Yet even then they kept quiet about their feelings and attempted to try to be just friends. You know the saying what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas well that doesn't always work. Their story will have you laughing, crying, wanting to scream at quite a few people and jumping for joy. (Oh and I wanted to shake them both most of the story along with a few more people....you'll understand when you read🤷♀️) You don't want to miss out on this friends to lovers to sorta friends back to lovers romance that will keep you turning the pages till the end. I'm looking forward to see what happens next with her brother Theo and Regan. I received a free ARC from the author through Booksprout for my honest review. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Their Destined Forever - Petra and Chris had been best friends since they were teenagers, but their assumptions about losing their friendship caused they to keep their feelings to themselves. Their destiny had been written in the stars since they met each other as teenagers, but obstacles kept them apart. Unfortunately, one drunken night of impetuous decisions, led them down a bumpy road that nearly cost them their friendship and happily ever after. However, an unexpected surprise and Petra making the decision to lay all her cards on the table, helped them find their way back together.
I really enjoyed reading this story, as it was not just about the bickering and sexual encounters, but also about the emotional connection between best friends, who kept denying their feelings for each other, which was evident to everyone else, for reasons that weren’t important. I was hooked on the story from the beginning and I can say it was an amazing book to read.

Even though this is a continuing series each book can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. You can easily read this book solo and have no problems jumping into the setting. Readers continuing with the series will get to see some familiar faces.
Petra and Chris have had a thing for one another since school. They share the same problem though of never actually saying anything out loud to one another. They end up having regrets because they never acted on their attraction and neither even knew if the other had the same feelings. Years later they end up in Vegas for a business expo and end up married. "What happens in Vegas..." They have a weekend together and back home try to be friends but have trouble keeping the lines from getting blurred. They struggle trying to learn to actually communicate with one another but eventually they don't have any other choice which opens the door for them finding their happy ever after.

After seeing them in DJ'S story I was very excited to finally read Chris and Petra's story. They have both been in love with each other for a long time but since they've been best friends since they were 14 they were scared of losing their best friends. With Chris having a successful real estate business and Petra having an organization and staging business they plan on attending the big home show in Vegas with their assistants. They return home from the show without having told each other how they feel and the longer that they continue not telling each other how they really feel is the more heartbreak and pain that they are causing each other. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this steamy story to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

Against All Odds is Petra and Chris' story and it was hot, hot, hot. There was a lot of steaminess but also miscommunication and, as a result, misunderstandings. Each one thought they knew what the other was thinking or meant and they both couldn't be more wrong. Chapters alternated with whether Petra or Chris were telling their story and the prologue set the stage while the epilogue gave me the closure I look for.
It was nice reuniting with many characters we've met before and see how their lives have progressed. There were multiple storylines being woven together and the story had a good flow. There was a lot of secrets, angst, tears, heartache, sorrow, sadness, some laughter, lots of hard work, family dynamics, romance, loving and love. The story is set in New York State, Chicago and Las Vegas. I can't wait to read more and Petra's brother, Theo's story is up next.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Petra Newberry & Chris Jenkins. We had seen these two in Fight For Us. See Petra and Chris want to be together but neither realizes the other feels that way. Also when they almost kissed in high school Petra's brother warned Chris away from her and hasn't let up on him yet. Chris sells house and in an attempt to spend more time around Petra he sends clients her way for decorating and staging advice or for her company to do the work. One weekend in Vegas at a work expo changes things for them. But with misunderstandings left and right will these two get their HEA or will it always just be that elusive wish?
Another hit out of the park by this author. So many ups and downs in this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Petra and Chris have been friends since they were fourteen. What they have never told each other is I Love You. Both are afraid they would lose their best friend. Chris has built a profitable real estate business. Petra is building an organizer and staging business. They are both going to the big Home show in Vegas, taking their assistants Jen and Jake who are in love. Jake informed Chris that he wanted to marry Jen while in Vegas. Things that happen in Vegas are suppose to stay in Vegas. Ha. Ha. This is a well written, witty, action packed story of drunk wedding, brother's hatred, helpful/unhelpful friends and family, past and present, annulment, confusing emotions, and wrong conceptions. This is Petra and Chris' story.

Another emotional ride from Williams, and an exceptional addition to this series. Chris is the perpetual nice guy to everyone, and everyone likes him, with the exception of Theo, Petra’s brother. Petra is trying to build her business and has been doing well with the help from her high school crush/best friend Chris. One night in Vegas and things start to go really right and really wrong at the same time for both of them. An overwhelming amount of doubt and self preservation on both sides and a complete lack of real communication leaves them not seeing what everyone around them has known for years. Misunderstandings and heightened emotions nearly cause it all to fail but they do finally find their HEA with a little push from an unexpected source.

Against All Odds by Ajme Williamsanother great additions to the series.a story that gilled with emotion, heartfelt, steam and drama.. a romance story of Chris and Petra, grew up together BFF and having feeings towards each other who they didnt know but others can see it well.. but because of friendship that so important to them than to risk what they have but one night of drinking change all that and woken up married in vegas and had a friends with benefits situation who they thought to make it a secret so no one new except their own PA.but when Petra got pregnant its all got complicated all the misunderstanding and fears is the cost of their friendship/romance..can they pull it through, and have their HEA? read it to find out, well done!

Another wonderful story! Ms. Williams draws her readers in from the very beginning, and this story is no exception. We’re introduced to Petra and Chris who have been the best of friends since “forever”. Perfectly satisfied with the existing relationship, each is afraid to admit to anyone that their feelings have changed into something deeper. Leave it to Las Vegas to change everything when after a “drunken” night they wake up only to find out that they are married. They stumble bum around with impractical ideas about what to do. Do they “solve” their present situation or does an even more permanent situation arise that turns their worlds upside down? As always terrific characters in this wonderful and well-written book that you’re sure to enjoy! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I always love the stories this author writes. This story was no exception. Petra and Chris have been attracted to each other since they were fourteen but neither thought tge other felt the same way. Fast forward to their thirties and they are now best friends who continue to long for each other but neither makes a move until a trip to Vegas. Their thoughts to see where a relationship that's was more friends with benefits may go everything gets in the way. But the biggest thing is they need to communicate with each other. If everyone is telling the other person loves you, perhaps you should believe it. Their inability to talk to each other drove me crazy. Throughout the book you'll want to smack them upside your head. Will they get their HEA? And what's the surprise for both of them? Look forward to Theo's book.
I kind of found this book a little irritating, even through the author wrote a nice romance. The couple had such strong insecurities, that it made the book a little frustrating. They both had successful business’s, but were unable, of telling each other their true feelings. There were some slow distracting parts of the book, otherwise it would have been a great book, with this reader giving it a higher rating. The romance itself was lovely, with lots of emotions, along with a lot of misunderstandings. Thankfully, at the end, the book redeemed itself with a beautiful HEA, completed with the author’s writing. This author is a new-to-me author, and I will read more books by her, I always give an author second chances. They deserve this second chance , because of the hard work that they do.
Petra and Chris love each other as friends but they also love each other as their soulmate, they've just never told each other that. Their friends can all see it...and mention it, but they just always poo poo the notion. Thank goodness for fate...they're both going to the same convention. Thank goodness for meddling friends who jokingly get them a marriage licence. Thank goodness for alcohol for befuddling them enough that they get married along with their friends in a Vegas chapel. And finally thank you Nevada for making it take longer to dissolve a marriage than it does to actually get married, because now there's a baby in this mix.

Against all odds. This book was great! I was on the edge of my seat waiting for things to happen. I love that the author incorporated characters from previous books meeting with characters from this book and having relationships that connect them together. I was really concerned for Chris because of how Petra and Theo treated him. The characters finally learned how important it is to tell people how you feel. When Petra and Chris and even Theo spoke up and expressed their feelings, things changed for the better. Happy ever after was achieved. Great read!!!! Petra and Chris have been friends since they were little kids. They have feelings for each other but neither will make a move. On a business trip to Vegas everything changes between them. However, they still continue to fight how they feel. Things get heated between them again but when they run into her brother it causes more problems. Will they finally admit what they feel? Can they get their happy ending?
This is an amazing story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I enjoyed this book but I believe it could be a bit shorter. The chemistry and the intimate scenes between the two characters were intense and steamy, when they forgot about their friendship... I think the story took too long, once they had their first night together. So many instances and yet no one was willing to admit the truth.Petra's character was not so likeable as many times she was utterly devoted to her brother without having a decent conversation with Christ (when of course they were actually able to meet). Chris's character was far more likeable and I wanted to hug him but at times he was too nice and I just wanted to shake him and wake him up. There are characters from previous books but it could be read as a standalone. Dual POV
Chris and Petra have been best friends since childhood, and both are scared to break past that ideal even though they both want more, a lot more. A drunken night in Las Vegas and their feelings end up getting them married and a little more. Miscommunications galore and not wanting to change something that is so special puts these two characters in an awkward position. Keep the marriage or get an annulment. Then, they may not have a choice. The storyline has plenty of drama, surprises, romance, secrets, forgiveness and much more. Loved the ending, where it all comes together nicely and you end up with a big smile on your face.

Chris is a nice guy in the best possible way & he's been in love with pretty Petra since they were teens. The problem is her older brother, Theo, who hates Chris. This is a best friends to lovers, surprise pregnancy romance.
Boy, these two were star-crossed. They get drunk in Vegas & get married, but decide to get an annulment -- despite loving each other. And both think its unrequited. Petra's brother's animosity doesn't help. There's a great deal of angst before they get their HEA. My heart ached for them.
This is a sexy, enjoyable read with believable hero & heroine. I identified with their heartache, thinking the worst of each other before setting each other straight.
Against all odds is Chris and Petra's story, Once again a brilliant story, hot and steamy, but also two people living a lie and not acting on their feelings.
Chris and Petra had been best friends since teenagers, but Petra's brother Theo hated Chris and blamed him for everything that happened in his life, so they both denied their feelings for each other and didn't voice them.
On a work trip to Vegas they got extremely drunk and married, neither of them remembered doing it but now they had to find a way to get out of it without anyone finding out.
Can they get together and share the feelings they both have? will they have their HEA?
All of the books in this series are brilliant, they can be read as standalones or part of the series.
I loved reading, Against All Odds by Ajme Williams because it was such a fantastic story about Petra and Chris. I loved both of their characters and I so wanted them to work out and be with each other for real. They both felt things for the other, but were afraid of admitting it. It was sad at times because they loved each other, but due to misunderstandings, it didn't look like they would have a chance to be together. I loved the chemistry and the steaminess. What a wonderful story that I would highly recommend reading.

The good guys finished first in this book. Chris has been the good looking single, available, well off guy in town forever. He does not date because he only wants one person, the girl he has been in love with since high school. Petra is that girl and she feels the same way about Chris. Seems like it would be easy doesn't it but Ajme Williams has written a great story filled with miscommunications. Her characters are so well written you feel like you know them. Now the question that has to be answered is the good guy really going to finish first?

Oh my. I wanted to yell at both Chris and Petra so many times! You could just feel their hurt, especially Chris. Petra was definitely not a very good friend to him in how she deals with Theo. Her brother not even knowing they were friends when she is calling Chris her best friend? Not cool at all. Chris had every right to feel unimportant to her. Her parents also left much to be desired when it came to Chris and Theo. Petra and Chris have an steam factor. Yummy. I was happy to see how fast Theo changed his tune. I am eagerly awaiting his story now.

Petra and Chris have been friends with secret feelings for most of their lives. Add in a brother who hates the guy and yo have problems. Seemingly everyone knows that Petra and Chris love each other, I honesty don’t know why it has never come up for them. They get drunk married in Vegas and become friends with benefits until the annulment. Life has another curve ball or two for them, but they ultimately get their HEA. Added bonus, we get to see some of the guys from previous books, so cool! This book is part of a series, but can absolutely be read and enjoyed by itself

I wanted to slap the main characters at times.... The story has already been covered in the blurb & by previous reviewers so I won't go into detail. I was rooting for a hea but it took some time to get there with many frustrations on their journey. Bottom line they were so much more than best friends & were in fact married....drunk in Vegas, enough said. Their sexual chemistry was off the charts & with a bun in the oven would they deal with her brother & strive for being a proper family. Well written, I've become a big fan of this author who delivers consistently good work. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
Chris and Petra were childhood friends. They stayed I the friend zone but they both secretly wanted more than just friendship but was afraid to lose what they have with each other. Misunderstandings and miscommunications are the guiding force behind Chris and Petra’s relationship drama which is further stressed with her brother’s dislike of Chris. When they both find themselves in Vegas, they end up drunk married that they keep secret from family and friends. Overall, this is an excellent story with dynamic characters that I connected with and found myself in their corner to finding happiness! I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
