Rose
My husband is dead.
All that remains are our memories.
My children will never know their father.
I will never know how it feels to grow old with him.

All that I have left are the voices.
The nightmare that haunts me day and night,
suffocating me,
never leaving my mind.
The torment constantly telling me
I’d be better off six-feet under instead of him.

But the voices stop when I finally look up
and suddenly he’s all that I see.
A beautiful stranger relentless on letting go,
but scared to hold me close
after his own painful suffering.

Justin Gatz.
My boss.
My new best friend.
A savior I never expected.

So I put this on one of my other reviews I had a whole bunch going on in life I forgot to review.

I got this as a ARC. I loved the book I love the characters Justin and Rose (my name is also Rose ironically).

I will say cause I know a lot of people get bugged by reviewers not mentioning ⚠️ check your trigger warnings ⚠️

Don’t trust me on triggers everyone is different, me myself I don’t have any triggers.

With that said this book was amazing, Evelyn never disappoints me and by far is one of my favorite authors.

This is the first ARC I have done and the first book I have read by Evelyn and I am a huge fan! It touched me on a deep personal account and will hopefully help me work through some of my own demons! It is such a masterfully written story and will pull at your heart strings from the start! Highly recommend

Wow what a connection between Justin and Rose!
Their story is a very raw emotional story I have never been through what either Justin or rose have dealt with in their lives but it was still easy enough to feel what they felt with their emotions. This book may break your heart but I promise Evelyn will put your heart back together again, it is very well written and easy to read, Evelyn really has a way with her words and I can’t wait to read the second book in the series!

Rose and Justin’s story is a slow 🔥 they have 🥵 chemistry and omg the smut 🥵 damn!!!

Rose and Justin’s story has a few trigger warnings so I would suggest you look them up for you read their story

I received an Arc from Evelyn in exchange for my honest review of Resurrection

I absolutely loved this book.
This is my first read by EM and it hooked me into her writing. Her style of writing is exactly what got me back on my reading journey again. There are some mental health issues in this book as well as some other trigger warnings. But this was a very good read. I could feel me rooting for Rose and Justin since they were written on the page. If you’re on the fence please read this book!

When I first received an ARC copy of this book, I expected a tragic love story between a widowed military wife (& mother) and a former Navy Seal. But I quickly discovered this book is SO MUCH MORE! Such raw emotion as Rose deals with her suffocating demons. This story will rip your heart out and leave you begging for more. Cannot wait to see what’s in store for this couple in the second half of this duet because I’m still reeling from that cliffhanger. NEED to know what’s to come!

I received this as an ARC read from the author and I cannot sing her praises enough!! Please make sure you check your trigger warnings because from the start of Chapter 1, this book will have your emotions ripped from you in the best way possible. It delves into the personal wars with mental illness in a way I have not seen in any of the Dark Romance books I’ve ever read before. You’re given no choice to withhold your feelings as it tells the realistic courtship of Justin and Rose. This is what true acceptance in a relationship is. Have your tissues handy as this will be a tear jerker (coming from someone who NEVER cries, I felt like a hormonal teenager lol). Thank you so much Evelyn for the amazing way in which you’ve poured your heart into this book ♥️♥️♥️

I received an advance copy of this. I was unable to put it down. The descriptiveness is amazing. Everyone has their own darkness, their own battles, their own demons. Rose is battling all her feelings as she’s dealing with the lost of her husband. One day when she’s just about had it Justin comes into her life. Which she finds out later he’s her boss at her new job. Justin has his own darkness and demons he deals with. This story does deal with a lot of different issues many people have gone through. So please check your trigger warnings.

Resurrection is a book that really pulls at your heartstrings. I loved how relatable Rose and Justin were with their problems. I suffer with anxiety and depression and I really connected with Rose the way the voices in head would turn against her. Beautiful story with some twists and turns and a sweet and fluffy ending!

"I'm no savior, Rose."

If ever there is a book that every wife, mother, woman should read...it is Resurrection. There is no doubt in my mind that all of us can relate to Rose in some way or another. There are many trigger warnings with this book that must be checked out before starting it. Do not let them deter you though, Evelyn did an amazing job with the situations at hand.

Six months ago Rose's husband was killed in a car accident. Now a single mother of two she is trying to put her life together. There is only one problem with that...the voices in her head. The constant negativity she hears drags her down yet she knows she has to get back up and pull herself together, if not for herself definitely for her babies. On the morning of her first day on the job the voices overtake her and it is at that moment her life will change forever.

Justin is bound to start a new life away from his past. Little does he know his life is about to change sooner than he believes when he hears the screams of a woman and rushed into her house thinking she is being attacked. One look...that is all it took was one look into her eyes and he knew he was meant to meet her. The hardest part will be accepting that he is good enough for her.

The path that Justin and Rose embark on together is heartbreaking at so many times. Soul mates is how I would describe them. The instant connection Justin has with Rose's kids proves that much more that they are meant for each other. While there is so much steam in this book I feel like the little touches here and there, the looks from across the room, and the things that Justin says to Rose are just as good if not better than the actual steam! All of those little things led to such beautifully written moments of Justin and Rose together.

As an avid Evelyn reader I have come to feel pretty confident in the fact that there will always be at least one huge plot twist, if not more. I really thought I was going to get through this book with no massive plot twist.....I WAS WRONG! Of all the plot twists I thought could have happened what actually did happen is not what I was expecting. She freaking did it again with her wicked master mind plots. This particular story with it's triggers could only be written a certain way...proper word choice with the numerous situations are what made this story all the better. Every word that formed every sentence that filled all the pages is perfection!

WOW! Perfection! What an insanely intense, suspenseful and utterly heartbreaking story. This phenomenal author pours her heart into this second chance at love story that will have you crying uncontrollably and falling in love with its amazing characters. It’s filled with such raw emotions, passion, grittiness, darkness and light. It had me riveted to my seat, completely breathless throughout, fighting back the tears that were threatening to overflow, while biting my nails with anticipation. Everything about this story was so very heartbreaking but also filled with so much love that it will have you captivated by every beautiful word.

Rose and Justin’s story is thrilling, a bit twisted and full of so many shocking surprises it will leave you completely breathless. They have this shocking and unexpected first interaction that slowly builds into something more. As the story progresses so does their love for each other. Their passion and chemistry was explosive and oozed off the pages. But their fast-paced romance is rife with issues, insecurities and utter heartache.

Rose slowly finds her inner strength with help from Justin, but it takes complete darkness and inner turmoil before she can embrace her new strength and fight. It also takes those around her to help her see the light in the darkness and face her truths.

There are just so many beautiful and very powerful words that this phenomenal author has written into this amazing story. Here are some of my favorites:

“You know, we’re not all born strong, Rose. We gain our courage our bravery, our fearlessness by the storms we walk through.”

“The good thing about hitting the bottom, is there is only one way left to go, and that’s up. After the push and the pull, something happens inside and you’re finally set free. You can finally fly.”

“True love, real love, it doesn’t meet you at your best. It stands by you at your worst. It picks you up when you can’t stand. It carries you when you are down and it always gives you hope, shining a light to help you find your way and see that you are never alone”

“The enemy doesn’t stand a chance when the victim decides to survive. Stay strong and look the devil himself in the eyes. No one can harm you unless you hand them the weapon to do it with yourself.”

This story was brilliantly written with such poignant and impactful words that it has left an imprint on my soul. It’s an unbelievably phenomenal story and I can’t wait for the next book.

Rose and Justin both are suffering and fighting their demons from the past. Rose, now a single mother, is struggling from the loss of her husband. Justin, a man who feels he doesn’t deserve happiness, after what happened to his wife and child. I absolutely loved this book and I couldn’t help rooting for Rose and Justin’s happily ever after. It’s real, an emotional rollercoaster ride, will pull at your heart strings….and it’s so so good. A definite recommended read.

I was blessed to receive an ARC copy of this book, and when I dove in, I didn’t know what to fully expect. The trigger warnings were there (and I highly advise you check them out before deciding whether or not to read this!) but I was still taken on an emotional roller coaster.

Justin has his own demons to battle with. A life he thought he could run away from quickly turned into more he needs to face and deal with when he decided to uproot himself and move to another town to become the editor of the newspaper. He thinks he’s cursed, and that he can’t be happy again.

Rose is lost. Her husband died, and she has two kids to take care of. She believes she’s going crazy because she hears voices in her head. They don’t back down. They tell her she’s not good enough, that she doesn’t deserve to keep going. When the voices become to loud and her reaction is vocal enough for someone outside her home to hear, it’s when everything truly starts.

Can Justin and Rose help fight each other’s demons? Can they get along enough to do so? Can either of them find their way beyond their past to have a future…the future they deserve?

Rose and Justin both lost their spouse. Rose is struggling with depression and Justin blames himself. Justin ends up being her boss at her new job. They both had a instant attraction. Justin sees Rose struggling to be a single mom and he also sees Rose struggle with depression. He wants to help her in any way possible. They eventually end up healing eachother from the past they struggle with. Such a good read about loving after a loss.

Love conquers all.
*TW: Mental Health, Anxiety, Depression, Suicide, Physical & Mental Abuse, Rape.*
*I received and ARC copy. Below is my Honest review of this book.*

The roller-coaster ride your emotions take while reading this book are up, down, inside out, right side up and everything in between. I love how Evelyn Montgomery tackles the hard topics of Mental Health/Depression in this book. You'll definitely get your heart ripped to shreds but it gets put back together so beautifully in the end. It was an absolute page turner and I struggled to put it down. The plot twist you never see coming until it literally smacks you in the face had me speed reading and rereading just to see how Rose & Justin's story ended!
As someone who suffers from depression myself I felt such a connection to the characters. Knowing how hard it is to function at times when all you want to do is curl up in a ball and bawl, Rose was totally relatable. I love that Rose & Justin's story ends with a HEA.

What a rollercoaster ride that was!

*Be very sure to check your triggers before reading this its not for the faint of heart, but in such an irresistible way!

I absolutely loved this book, I quite literally had to force myself to put it down. The chemistry between Justin and Rose is complicated, heartbreaking, sensual and oh so spicy. They both have serious demons eating away at them in their heads, ones I believe a lot of us deal with on a regular basis. But can they help each with them? Read to find out!

What an intense an emotional journey Rose and Justin's story is. A slow burn into the minds of two damaged souls wanting to heal but not know how...The insight into the mental conversations Evelyn describes really puts into the characters minds. The second half of the book really picks up and Justin and Rose's growing connection intensifies. A well written story, looking forward to the next book in the series!

"I know he sees the truth. My truth. And he's not walking away" - Rose

I was fortunate enough to read this as ARC and I loved every damn second of it. I was hooked from page one, drawn in by the internal turmoil of Rose who is struggling with her mental health since her husband passed away. And then we meet Justin who also struggles with demons from his past. These two meet and bond over shared struggles and experiences, but will they be able to survive when the past comes knocking at their doors?

The story is written from the perspectives of both Rose and Justin which gives you a very intimate insight in their struggles and as they get to know each other you also learn more and more about them and their past. Which really compelled me to keep reading, because I kept wanting more.

The author included a content warning at the start at the book, which was highly appreciated, so I was aware of things that could possibly trigger me. Instead I found I could relate to the struggles of these characters and thus managed to form a bond with them, which definitely added to the reading experience.

ARC Review

This book was so beautifully written. The path that Justin and Rose take towards each other is one filled with loss, gratitude and love.

While I haven’t experienced what Rose has gone through, you can’t help but relate to all of the emotions that’s she’s feeling. My heart broke for her and by the end of the book I was crying tears that were both sad and overjoyed!

I felt all of those emotions while devouring this book. It had angst that was worth the wait, adorable moments that lightened your heart and some darkness that left me almost wanting to put the book down… but I couldn’t. It was my first read for Evelyn Montgomery and I cannot wait to read another.

CHECK TW! This is definitely not a light read!

I got the beautiful opportunity to ARC read this book!
This book was heavy and delicious and love all wrapped together. Rose took on so much without realizing til it was too late and her head was in shambles. Justin was tortured by his own demons he was made to believe he caused. These two people deserved the light that they brought each other and the healing it helped them have and give the readers. I was torn up reading everything that they were put through and DAMN you Evelyn for the start of chapter 35 I was in tears! I whole heartedly recommend this book!

I’ve read so many stories over the years and I’ve had the same favorite book for the last two year until today. Until I finish Justin and Rose’s story. I’ve struggled silently with depression and anxiety most of my life and finding a story that relates to what I feel some days just steals a piece of my heart. Evelyn’s writing draws you in and drags you through all of the emotions the characters are feeling. I cried so much. Happy tears, sad tears. I’m not a writer so it’s hard to put into words how this story affected me but it will stay with me forever.

Arc review. Oh my gosh! Resurrection is the best romance novel I have had the delight of reading! It was cute and dark and hits home a little too much at some points. This was a super heartbreaking, emotional story. You definitely want to check the triggers as it touches on some deep stuff. I really enjoyed it. I love a good love story where they aren’t perfect. They both have a past and are broken and can help each other find something beautiful in the darkness. My husband and kids got a little extra love and hugs after reading this. It makes you step back and remember to appreciate what you have, and to remind yourself that you can be stronger than you even realize. Truly great book.
