Sent to the Masters Club for a “tune-up,” Rowan gets more than she bargained for, and so does her trainer…Rowan Georgiou has always been fiercely independent in her vanilla life, but definitely BDSM curious. When a strong, controlling alpha sweeps into her life, she’s thrilled at the chance to fully explore her submissive streak. Eager to please, she strives to conform to the demands of a lifestyle she doesn’t fully understand. Being sent away for training feels like failure, but it might offer exactly what—and who—she needs.
When trainer Eric Franklin is brought in to teach “proper submission” to the resistant sub girl, he immediately senses a problem. While outwardly compliant and undeniably submissive, Rowan is skittish and fearful of the man she claims to love and serve.
As Eric questions the choices Rowan and her so-called Master have made, he is increasingly convinced Rowan is in way over her head. But when he confronts the bully in Dom’s clothing, the guy yanks Rowan from the program, cutting the trainer’s tie to the girl he’s already come to care about.
But not before Eric gives her an out, if she can find the courage to seize it.
Freeing Rowan is the third book in the Masters ClubSeries. Though each novel can be read as a stand-alone, reading the series in order will enhance your experience.

Freeing Rowan sounded very interesting, and i knew i wanted it from the minute i read the blurb. Lucky for me,Claire Thompson was kind enough to sell me a copy directly. And i’m glad she did, because it turned out to be the beautiful story i thought it would be,and more!
Rowan had been interested in BDSM for a very long time,so when the handsome, but older Dom,John was interested, she was honored. The path he took her on,was hard though….was she really the slave he saw in her? When she’s sent to the Masters Club for training, she worries she’s going to fail every test. The first test is already an epic fail, and she’s worried she’ll never become what her Master wants….
Eric is the Masters Club trainer, and he enjoys helping the subs achieve their goals. His latest charge though? Not only did her Master dump her without talking to him,but the girl seems terrified when she comes without permission. Trying to understand what’s going on,he talks to her,but her answers don’t reassure him. And when his gut tells him there’s something wrong,it usually is…. Requesting to talk to her Master ends up with him pulling her from her training. But not before Eric urges Rowan to call him if she ever needs help.
Once home,Rowan’s Master decides to change course. Instead of getting a second slave girl,he plans to intensify her training. By taking away everything she was “allowed” until she becomes the slave he wants. Thinking about Eric’s parting words,Rowan knows she needs to get away before it’s too late. But how?
This was a story about trust, respect and having the courage to stand up for yourself.. Rowan was in a bad situation, but she found her way out. And she found back the joy she had in BDSM. She didn’t let the experience stop her from pursuing what she enjoyed. Plus, she found the man to do it with…. A man that díd respect her needs,a man that díd listen to her. And a man that had the patience to wait for her to find her way.
This is the third in the Masters Club series, featuring the denizens of one of those upscale BDSM clubs beloved by this genre. This entry picks up from a scene in Claiming Cleo where Eric was tasked with training slave girl Rowan at her master's bequest. Eric soon realizes that Rowan isn't as experienced as her master claimed; even worse, he now has feelings for another man's woman.
I really liked this book and recommend it highly for those looking for well-described sex scenes underpinned by a serious storyline. I particularly appreciated three aspects. First, the narrative explores an issue in the lifestyle that doesn't get nearly enough attention: a vulnerable, often very young sub with little experience gets sucked into a toxic power exchange with an older, wannabe "dominant" only in it for the power trip. Ultimately, he abuses her trust, emotionally and even physically injuring her in the process (and, yes, this problem is often gendered). I thought the author's depiction of how and why Rowan fell for John, despite the red flags, was especially nuanced (he was supportive of her career, for instance). Note: While I understand that Ms. Thompson was trying to avoid the . Second, Rowan's character progression was wonderful to witness . Finally, I absolutely believed in the MC's relationship, connected as they were not just by one shared passion, but two.
I do have some quibbles. As with most of this author's work, while the prose was well-edited, it was enormously repetitive since the same event is often recounted three times (we witness it; we hear about it via dialogue; we hear about it again via internal monologues). And, while Rowan ends up being a well-rounded character, I didn't feel that I really got to know Eric. But, at the end of the day, this is really Rowan's book.
4 stars. If there is a fourth book, I'm not sure who will get it. I hope there is one. Note: It's impossible to take the name "John Garfield" seriously. I have to wonder if Ms. Thompson knows why since no one within the story world comments on it -- but then, they're probably too young.
Freeing Rowan is a well-written book with great pace, wonderful characters and an engaging plot. The author avoided trite cliches, instead presenting us with a plausible and enjoyable story.
It maybe doesn't have the greatest depth, but there is still plenty to enjoy in the book. I could never predict where the plot would head next and I could certainly believe in the connection between Eric and Rowan.
A richly layered, compelling read, FREEING ROWAN is the story of 23-year-old Rowan Georgiou, an aspiring artist with few friends (and fewer relatives) who is drawn strongly to the BDSM lifestyle. Before gaining any true exposure or experience, Rowan becomes the property of a dominant man whom she believes epitomizes her romantic ideal, and his movie-star looks, charm and wealth cause her to fall head over heels in love. When her Dom decides she's not quite "enough," he sends her to the Masters Club for training as a proper submissive, in this third addition to the latest series addicting Claire Thompson fans.
Immediately, it becomes clear that not only is Rowan in over her head, but her relationship with Master John is more problematic than a simple lack of ability or training. As Masters Club members step up to help, Rowan finds friendship, a potential new attraction in her trainer, and the burgeoning knowledge that her understanding of the BDSM lifestyle -- and her assumptions about her relationship with her Master -- may be disappointingly, and even dangerously, wrong. Rowan is about to realize that her choices have real consequences, and that some of these consequences may prove very difficult to escape.
FREEING ROWAN is suspenseful, scary, and ultimately uplifting. It is an important story, both as a cautionary tale of what the BDSM lifestyle should and shouldn't be, and as a coming-of-age tale about a young woman trying to find herself professionally, personally, and sexually. Without spoilers, I'll say that as Rowan begins to take back her life, the romance and sizzle is scorching, satisfying and just plain fun. Oh, and I am SO ‘team Eric.” In my favorite Masters Club story to date, I truly enjoyed watching Rowan struggle to find herself, free herself, and fight for the right to be herself.
I have been anxiously awaiting this book ever since I read the previous book in this series, 'Claiming Cleo'. Rowan was sent for training at the BDSM club by her Dom, John. I felt that there was definitely something off with the relationship with Rowan and John when I started to understand more about it. He was rude and did not really make sure that Rowan was okay with the things that were going on in their relationship, which is a Dom's responsibilities. When she starts working with Eric, she realized he was much nicer and more caring than her own Dom. I thought Eric was nice and sweet and a wonderful master and trainer, in my opinion Both Eric and Rowan had growing feelings for each other but tried to hide or deny it. Rowan thought is was a betrayal to John and Eric didn't want to have anything more with someone who was already taken, especially a trainee of his. This story was spicy and kinky like a lot of BDSM stories and I really liked both characters. The story pulled me in from the very beginning and I didn't want to put it down until I was done with it. Can't wait until Claire's next story! I received a review copy of this story and am leaving a voluntary honest review.

I absolutely loved this story about Eric and Rowan! Rowan thought she was in the type of BDSM relationship she wanted…but after being dumped at the Masters Club for training, her eyes were beginning to open and she began to have doubts. Personally, I thought her “owner” was a big jerk and was on a huge power trip! Eric felt off balance training Rowan without having talked with her owner. But he’s a professional so he just did what he was asked to do.
Rowan was very nervous and had a hard time getting through the pain in some of the exercises Eric was having her do. Eric became concerned when she wasn’t handling things the way he thought she should be. He was able to bring out the sweet side of her submissiveness and wondered why her master couldn’t get the same responses.
Then Master John went too far. Rowen removed herself from that “abusive” relationship and Eric was there to help her out. She and Eric already knew they had feelings for each other but Rowan was afraid of jumping into a new relationship so soon after leaving Master John. But her feelings for Eric were getting stronger.
Honestly? I think I fell a little for Eric too! He was so sweet with Rowan and tried really hard to hold back his feelings, but feelings are what they are, right? But he was patient and waited for Rowan to make the first move and when she did…talk about hot! Once they decided to go in that direction, the heat was on! Eric took her to new heights and she experienced things she hadn’t before…and it was all so beautiful! It was such a wonderful love story woven around Rowan and Eric’s relationship and I thoroughly enjoyed every single moment I spent reading this book! I am always impressed by authors who can create these stories that leave you wanting more. Another winner for Claire Thompson! If you haven’t read this series, you really should. You will love it!
This book, though fiction, is definitely a tale of sub frenzy and what not to do.
Rowan is at the BDSM training club because her master feels that she could use some training. At this club, this is a normal part of it and they pride themselves in the things they teach submissives and dominants alike. They have never had a submissive who was not overly eager to be there. Rowan is different though as she seems overly nervous and unsure as what is expected of her there. Eric is one of the trainers at the club. He is tasked with being the one to train Rowan. He is sure that it will be just like any other session but once he meets her and introduces her first task, he can see that this is now something she is really for.
As they work at training her in different areas, it comes to light that her master may be the one who needs some training. Rules he has for Rowan are a little more strict than one would expect, especially for the way she is acting.
John is the master of Rowan. Due to some issues with training, the owners feel he should come back and check how things are and decide if she should keep going. Once he arrives, all the club owners seem taken aback on how he treats her and when he decides she is going home, Eric gives her his number in case she needs anything. Turns out she will need that number later on,
John is certainly not a master, The things he thinks he is doing right are most definitely all wrong. For an example, he tells Rowan that she can't have her phone until she has learned some things. This is not correct and is actually quite abusive. After one particular bad punishment Rowan has decided she has had enough and tries figuring out a way to leave. Though worried he will be disappointed, her well being prevails.
I have been waiting to dive into Rowan's story since she was first introduced in the previous book. Reading previous books in the series is not required as they standalone, but do yourself the favour, they are that good.
As a newbie to the scene, she feels she owes her allegiance to her master, not realizing that he is not the Dom he believes himself to be. Rowan definitely has submissive leanings although she doesn't seem to be aware of the multitude of different facets and nuances that exist for lifestyle relationships. Being sent away for the training her master could not achieve may be the best thing to happen to Rowan, she is reminded that she is not forever tied to that relationship, it can grow and evolve and is much her choice as her Dom's.
A complicated situation filled with the complexities of hero worship, burgeoning lust, love and an intensive lifestyle relationship competing with her lack of knowledge and trust in the first confident, self assured, dominant man to pay significant attention to her and her unfulfilled needs.
I found the highlighting of the dangers of insidious conditioning to be fascinating, it is not relayed in a preachy manner but within the context of the safe, sane and consensual prescripts of club etiquette and adds depth to the characters.
Rowan is a 23 year old woman who enjoys being a submissive, but has gotten herself into a dangerous situation with a man who persuaded her to become his “slave.” He leaves her with trainers at the Masters Club while away on a trip, hoping they can train her better – but Eric, the trainer, realizes something is off about her and her relationship with her Master John. Rowan learns a lot from Eric, most importantly that what she has been experiencing is not a proper BDSM relationship – and when she gets back with Master John, it doesn’t take long for her to realize what a mistake it is, and she leaves him – getting Eric to rescue her and start her on a new life. Her gradual transition, and the developing feelings between Rowan and Eric, are what makes the story interesting. Both of them are intelligent, although she is incredibly naïve to have believed that she was getting into a proper relationship with Master John. The development of the relationship between Rowan and Eric, which does involve some BDSM experiences, is well described. What a fantastic book! This BDSM story explores what happens to the sub who gets involved in kink before truly understanding what she wants or what power exchange truly means.
Rowen ends up partnered with a Master whose understanding of dominance and control borders on brutality by stealing the voice of the sub.
Enter Master Eric, also her new trainer. In just one day he realizes that Rowen didn’t understand the basic rules of respect, honesty, and communication and more importantly didn’t realize how the lack of voice had hampered her ability to embrace her masochism and what she loved about this lifestyle. He introduces her slowly and with great empathy to power exchange and BDSM.
Rowen is a beautiful, strong woman whose story is an important one for all of us. Claire Thompson has written a vital story for every person in the lifestyle. As a victim of bullying, I appreciate how this carefully developed book reminds us about the important of finding one’s voice, being honest with yourself and claiming your truth. Thank you for this wonderful story.
The 3rd book in the Master Club series shines a light on what a BDSM relationship should be like vs. what it could disguise - abuse. Young, impressionable and new to the lifestyle, Rowan falls for a bully in the disguise of a Dom. When he enlists her for lessons at the Club, her trainer Eric makes her question her choices and, like the title suggests, helps her to free herself. Ultimately, he shows her what a trusting, loving d/s relationship is. I loved not just the scenes but all the interactions between them. This was a book that made me run the gamut of emotions - from angry to scared, hot and bothered, moved to tickled pink at one of the closing scenarios. A great read and a wonderful addition to the series.

Another good read from Claire Thompson. Ms. Thompson draws the reader into the story and makes the characters come alive. I really enjoyed the book and I know you will too. Rowan knows she is submissive and wants to be in a relationship. However, she lets a man's good looks influence who she chooses as a dom. Master John sends her to the Master's Club for slave training and she experiences how real Doms act and treat their subs. Rowan's lack of self esteem and Master John "wanna be a dom" allows the reader to understand the difference between a true dom and a bully . Will Rowan and Master John be able to work out their issues? How do they resolve them? You will want to read the book to find out the answers.
Master Eric at the Masters Club was asked to train a submissive while her Master was away but he never had the chance to talk to the master before she arrived. Rowan collapsed in the first exercise and it was obvious that something was wrong. Discussions with Rowan showed that she was being compelled into a master/slave relationship that she wasn't prepared for. Eric was attracted to Rowan but she felt she needed to go back to her master. What is going to happen to her.
I really enjoyed how Eric helped Rowan realise that she didn't have to be a slave to an abusive master. I enjoyed the interaction between them.
You don't need to have read the previous Masters Club books to enjoy this one.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
Safe, sane and consensual. You read these words in the majority of BDSM type books. You kind of skim over them and continue on. After all, you know what they mean. Right? Well, what if you thought you knew what they meant and you were wrong. What if your Master told you he knows what they mean and you don't need to do anything except exactly what he says. What if he thinks he knows everything you need and want, and he was wrong? Enter this addition to the Masters Club series. Let Claire explain it to you slowly, carefully and with understanding. Excellent addition to the series with a big surprise twist on the end.
Claire Thompson brings us back to the Masters Club with Freeing Rowan. We meet up with Cleo and Master Jack again. I absolutely loved their story. This book is about Rowan's journey to finding true submission and a Master worth serving. She has a rocky start as many do in their own journey. Rowan shows courage and bravery along her journey of ups and downs and many curves and bumps in the road. There is definitely some hot steamy scenes that Claire Thompson is so famous for. You won't want to miss out on Rowan's journey of coming full circle. This is her beautiful story. As always there is justice and surprises along the way.
This is the first book I have read in the Masters Club series. It was easily read as a standalone. New submissive Rowan is sent for training by her Master. Trainer Eric is assigned to teach Rowan but he learns some things that are concerning. Eric is generally very professional in his work but he finds himself thinking more about Rowan & her situation. This is a story about good BDSM practice, communication, how to identify unsafe situations. Rowan’s story was very relatable and Eric’s patience & good practice were basic yet so meaningful. Loved the compassionate ending.
I received a copy of this book. My honest opinion is voluntarily provided.
I loved how strong Rowan was in this story. She didn’t seem it to begin with, but with just some things to think about, her inner strength shone. Eric is taken aback on how strong he is attracted to her, but knows that the timing isn’t right, and then won’t be right, for a while. Rowan has to gain control of her own life and emotions before there is a chance, and Eric is willing to wait until that happens. Once things click into place for these two, it is better than they could have ever imagined!
I loved the characters in this book, both the main couple and the other characters from the Masters Club we've already met in this series. There are a lot of intense scenes and some very sweet moments. Eric was really the hero with his understanding of what was going on with Rowan and providing the guidance she needed each step of the way. I was very amused at the eventual conclusion regarding the "bully."

Unknowing Another great addition to the books by Claire Thompson. Learning how to be a sub can be trial and error but Rowan thought she had found her Master. Little did she know that she was losing herself in the process. When Master John sends Rowan to be trained by Eric she learns more than she expected but so does Eric. Finding herself, giving herself and learning to Love can take a long or short time but the emotions involved can cause a roller coaster ride. Rowan has a lot of changes coming into her life. Who will make her whole? John or Eric?
A beautiful BDSM love story that is tastefully written and I totally loved reading it! Rowan is a young and learning submissive gets herself into a overwhelming Master/slave relationship. Eric a trainer at the Masters club is assigned to training her but notices that things aren't quite right. Together they enter on a journey to make her life better and at the same time develop a loving relationship. An awesome story with plenty of hot sexy parts and lots of realistic emotions. I definitely recommend reading this book!
This is another excellent story from Claire Thompson and cements her place as Queen of this genre. It is gripping and draws you in from the very first page. I could not put it down as I followed Rowan on her journey towards “freedom” helped by Master Eric. She starts out as a meek, timorous young girl and it is fascinating to watch her grow. Yes, it is dark and gritty but underneath there is love and romance. It has just the right amount of BDSM. I am loving this Masters Club series. I received an ARC and am leaving a totally voluntary, unbiased and honest review.
The third book in the series, but it can be read as a standalone.
The book shows how easily BDSM can be misused in a relationship and how important it is to communicate your needs and desires. I loved seeing how Rowan came to grips with her own feelings and what she wanted out of the relationship. She stood up for herself.
She and Eric made a great couple. Claire Thompson has a knack for putting scenes in her book that you don’t see in every other book and this book was no exception with the submersion scene.
And there was a bit of a twist at the end which made me laugh.
Freeing Rowan is a wonderful story that I did not want to put down. Rowen is in a master/slave relationship. Her master has decided he knows what is best for her without consulting her or negotiating. When she is sent to the Masters Club for training she realizes something is not quite right in the relationship. Her trainer Eric also suspects something is wrong. These are characters that you can’t help but love. The ending has a twist that I never saw coming but it was perfect. I love the BDSM aspects of the story. The author does a great job describing the scenes. Love this whole series.
It is hard to stand your ground in the face of someone successful and handsome. Rowan felt over her head instead of the talented, beautiful woman she was. Eric brought the comfort and ease she should have felt with her Dom with his open communication and care. I love how this author brings this lifestyle to life and makes you understand the desire to be part of it.
Freeing Rowan is the 3rd book in the Master Club Series. Each book is a standalone with a HEA. Rowan and John were in a master/slave contracted relationship. He sent her away for training where she realized he was just a bully. She realized she needed out of this relationship so she escaped with the Dom who had been training her. There are a few twists and turns along the way, but she does find happiness. What a great story.
Rowan is in a master/slave relationship and her master has dropped her off at the masters club to be trained. In her first training session, her trainor, Eric realizes something is terribly wrong. Eric keeps working with her less intensely, until he talks to her master. When her master shows up, Eric realizes how much control Rowan has given her master. You will need to read the book to see what happens. It does have a happy ending.
I’ve been waiting for a Rowan’s book ever since we met her. This is a standalone however. It starts out with her at the training facility. Eric finds out very quickly that her relationship may not be BDSM appropriate. She doesn’t seem to know any better, (and neither does her Dom). We see things come to a head, thankfully she was able to get out, and I love how it comes full circle for the ending lol.
Oh how I love to hate this one! A mis-led submissive falling into the hands of a bully posing as a dom. That lower case "d" is what he is, low! Sending the poor girl for a tune-up because he wants her to accept a second sub into his household, is meant for her to submit "properly"! Fortunately she ends up with a respected and respectful trainer who quickly finds out what is wrong in that D/s relationship. But that's where the problems begin ...
Looking for a Dom, she found a bully. Understanding the difference took trainer Eric to explain it to her. Going from a bad relationship to free herself, took awhile. That’s the start of the story… the rest is for you to read and learn what is what. So many good insights in the trust between a real Dome and sub. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
