Under Suspicion by Tara Randel is an interesting cozy about the mysterious happenings at the historic Poinciana Arms Apartments in Peters Cove, Florida. Paige Meyers is the manager of Poinciana. She and her teen-aged daughter Lexi live there. Jason Bronson is the new tenant next door. He is former military and works in covert operations.

What’s interesting in these Annie’s Fiction cozies is the backstory. The characters have significant pasts that follow them into the present. This adds another layer to story.

Under Suspicion is also a story of learning to trust others and to believe in oneself. Both Paige and Jason carry around baggage they need to let go. They both have a strong sense of protecting, protecting those around them and where they live—Poinciana Arms Apartments.

The author knows how to make things difficult for her characters. Randel laces the story with clues and red herrings, misdirecting the reader, so we don’t know for sure who the bad guy is. Of course, this is what makes cozies fun to read.

If you are looking for a gritty urban cozy mystery with a touch of romance, then Under Suspicion by Tara Randel is the story for you.

Read 75 pages. Boring. First of the Annie's Sweet Intrigues that we did not like - at all.

A slow start but it did pick up. I do enjoy these Annie's Sweet Intrigue books. I haven't read one I didn't like. I especially like that they are written by different authors.

This book was entertaining. It started out very slow, and the author repeated herself a lot in the first couple of chapters. It picked up in the end.

Light mystery that gets right to the point. Loved that the story was about a woman who received a chance at a time when she needed it.
