Dark Torment

Rate this book
I’ve become one with the shadows everyone is afraid of.

During the day, I walk with the rest of the world, doing my part to put monsters behind bars where they belong.

At night, I’m the worst of them.

I live my life on a razor’s edge, keeping the balance of the sanity I have left.

Olivia is an innocent, caught in the middle of someone else’s twisted deeds. I’m the only thing stopping her from meeting a painful and untimely end. Because someone wants her gone.

The problem is, she is painfully unaware of my growing obsession from the shadows.

Day and night I watch her every move, determined to keep her safe.

When the darkness comes for her, she’s going to find out she has her own shadow. One who is ready to kill anyone who gets close.

This game of cat and mouse can only end one way….with her in my arms and in my bed.

She’s mine.

*Dark Torment is a dark stalker/kidnap standalone romance. This book contains forced imprisonment (even if it’s in a cozy bedroom), and lots of blood and murder.

It also contains BDSM, so if any of this offends you, please don’t read.*

You know me and stalker books this one omg I LOVE!!!!! It was delicious I need the paperback 😈😈😈 Jon is now book boyfriends material.

Jonathan was a alpha and cinnamon rolled up in one stalker I love Jon so much he has eyes only for Olivia his girl his world!! No person shall make her cry if they do its a ticket to the grave really he's that protective!!! As for Olivia she's so sweet and down to earth doesn't know the trouble she's in not just because she has a stalker who is head over heels for her but someone Is trying to kill her. Jonathan makes it his job to watch every move and slowly enter her life 🥰 he does watch her go on one date which was horrible let's say the date got what he got. It did take awhile for some spice but when he told her he was her daddy.. LORD I DIED!!!

love the friendship between Olivia and Shelby the protectiveness she has for Olivia I can't wait for her book with Jonathan friend.

Read this book if you want to be entertained. This is a Wish version of You, starring a watered down, lame version of Joe Goldberg and an obviously dumb version of Guinevere Beck.

RE-TELLING OF THE BOOK BELOW

The only good thing about this book? It had a trigger warning right at the start. But it forgot to include laughter in it.

Our male MC, Jonathan is a lawyer in the day, killer in the night. He goes onto the dark web and kills people who are supposed to be dead. The fact that he made himself seem menacing got the first laugh:
Need to feel the life drain from their body, so I only take on the jobs that want bloody and dark revenge

He finds the latest assignment of our female MC, Olivia to be killed and of course, it is insta love/lust. In a huge, huge way
But the picture attached to the file has my head spinning. Before me is the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on
So he took the assignment to make sure she isn't killed and to kill anyone who hurts her.
She is my love, my passion, and my absolute obsession. After one day, I know without a doubt I can never let someone else have her

That includes stupid plain stalking, appearing everywhere she was and somehow not getting noticed for the build he is described to be.
He kills anyone that comes in her way, including a stranger who called her out for being "fat" aka curvy-but-people-are-just-stupid-to-distinguish:
Watch where the fuck you’re going, you cow! Stop taking up the entire fucking street with your fat ass
And why does he kill? Because she's insecure of herself after being abandoned by her family.

After all the stalking of Olivia, he goes into her pet grooming shop to adopt a dog just for her to be in his life. And when Olivia saw him for the first time:
If this man asked me to kneel before him right now, I don’t think I’d even give it a second thought
so insta love/lust for both ways? Check.

Blah blah blah, later he jumps in to save her during a horrible date and it never occurred to her that she was there "coincidentally" at the same time because she's dumb.
It was like he came out of nowhere when I needed help the most. I hadn’t even realized there was anyone around us, not that I was paying that close of attention

I was starting to wonder how there wasn't any police reports of the killings until it surfaced to Olivia, who obviously doesn't have a clue that its the man who's rubbing her back intimately at her shop.

I thought he will be killing secretly, I didn't expect him to tell her he is a killer after all:
Someone, and I have no idea who, wants me dead because I have something they want. And Jonathan? He’s a killer? I sure didn’t see that one coming. What the heck is happening right now?

He told her of all the alterations he has done to her home:
Cameras, motion sensors, audio. You name it, it’s installed in your house
and she got horny from it because he got a free view of her naked self every time, instead of screaming for help. She got so aroused they banged and it isn't every worthy to talk about it here.

The smut in this was just.... words wasted. Honestly Jonathan isn't a Daddy just because he calls himself one. BDSM was mentioned in the blurb, that's why I even picked this up. Though, the only BDSM in this book is a Bad Delusional Stupid Man. The fact that Olivia uses Daddy in every sentence when they're banging makes me puke blood. Horrible, horrible smut.

The line that made me laugh for a few minutes straight was:
Who knew serial killers could be so adorable? Maybe everyone should get one

No Olivia, you won't be saying that if your kids were killed by one in the future.

Tropes:
- dark(ish) stalker romance
- romantic suspense
- serial killer (hero)
- plus size heroine
- virgin heroine
- insta-obsession (hero)
- protective + possessive hero
- district attorney x pet groomer
- (dark) humor
- daddy kink
- insta-love?
- 🦋dirty talk🦋

POV: first person - dual (lots of hero)

Type: interconnected stand-alone (book one)

The moment Jonathan sees Olivia’s picture on a contract kill, he immediately accepts the job, except he’s not looking to harm her. No, he’s going to protect her from whoever assigned this hit on her life in the the only way he knows how…with more murder.

If you love stalker romances, stop what your doing and read this book RIGHT NOW! No joke this is now officially in my top 3 favorite stalker romances. F*cking phenomenal.

This was more on the lighthearted side in my opinion because the humor was definitely there but there are moments that could be considered dark and full of gore. Nothing too crazy but as always check TW!!

Both characters were so well crafted, I fell in love with them so fast. This is a must read if you love all the tropes I mentioned. I cannot nor will I stop thinking about this book for a long time.

I never wanted this to end and when I tell you the epilogue was perfection, I mean it wholeheartedly. Best HEA ever. Read this. Right now.

I love me some dark romance so when I saw this book come up on a recommended list, I immediately dropped everything and started reading!!

**please read trigger warnings**

This was one dark book, and I loved it (what can I say, I'm a little f--ked up lol). It was so easy to get into the story line and I finished it pretty quickly!! Jonathan is a DA who also happens to be a lowkey assassin. When Olivia's picture pops up on a *job* list, he immediately is drawn to her and has to take it in order to protect her. That is when the stalking begins. When Olivia meets Jonathan for the first time, she can't help but think that he is the most attractive man she's ever met, and is very drawn toward him. The story continues as their relationship progresses, and you see what Jonathan would do to protect the one person he has this strong connection to, and figure out who could possibly want this innocent, sweet woman dead.

Did I mention how much I laughed throughout this book?! I was not expecting to be laughing but you gotta appreciate how the author can get that response out of you when you're supposed to be reading a dark story!! Also, the spice was pretty nice although there weren't TOOOO many scenes (I would classify this as a slow burn).

Definitely one to add to the list if you're into this genre!!

“Because, my sweet, naive, virgin bestie. Dick is dick, and sometimes the mechanical ones just aren’t good enough.”

That quote really says enough about this book but then I also kinda enjoyed it (ignoring the fact that the plot was extremely predictable and I don’t even know if the mmc has parents???)

One other quote for extra measure

“For a serial killer, he’s pretty sweet”

This book started out so strong. The opening line to chapter 1 is:

I’m excellent at my job. Both of them, really.
Prosecutor by day, killer by night.
It’s my job with the District Attorney’s office to put killers behind bars where they belong. But at night, I’m the worst of them.

And the end of chapter 1 is him getting a request to take a job killing a woman who he’s instantly obsessed with, and taking the job just to protect her and find out who put a hit on her.

Like… tell me more.

Unfortunately this book fell super flat for me.

The spice scenes were very subpar. They were so quick and unrealistic.

The plot had potential since he’s literally an assassin/killer protecting her but again it was moved too quickly/closed so fast I was like “that’s it?”

I wanted him to be … more psycho, almost.

It started so so good!!
I loved John crazy a**, loved how devoted and how he adored her all the way he was all over the place and so so sweet to her .
The thing is that along the way, lets say after 50% the story went a little flat, once they start interacting more etc, it felt kind of strange, especially on her side, i needed her to be more worried..or i dunno, pushing him a little you know? like she accepted him, just like that...
I needed more interaction before intimacy,i needed more sexual tension :D
Over all? i did like the book, i really enjoyed this read.
And no, i will not read Shelby's books thanks :D

A great dark instant love!

I absolutely loved this book. I have been reading so many bully/enemies to lovers lately so having an instant love was a needed break while not losing the darkness I crave. Not to mention some serious steam.

The book starts with Jonathan, a lawyer by day and killer by night. He takes jobs he finds on the black web of hits people want to be done. After coming across a certain job he immediately sees the person in danger, Olivia, and knows she is meant to be his. From there is does some stalking and learns everything he can about Olivia. He will stop at nothing to keep her safe, even from bullies on the street. Olivia is such a kind-hearted character. Her dad and brother are horrible to her and being plus size doesn’t help in today's society. She suffers from people judging her appearance and her family hating her for not wanting to take part in their shady family business. All she has to keep her happy is her BFF Shelby and the grooming business she started. That's until Jonathan comes into her life and shows her how important she is to him and how he will protect her at all costs.

I loved how the book had a good plot to go along with the love story. A lot of instant love books are mostly about the relationship, but this one had something else to keep the reader enticed. It was such a kick to see Jon this tough serial killer become such a loving sap for Liv. I also loved Olivia’s thoughts through everything. She knows it's crazy and insane to be around this man and have feelings for him but she also knows the heart wants what it wants. We also get some awesome side characters. I adore Shelby and want more of her. I also enjoyed Devlin, Jonathan’s friend. I wasn’t sure about him at first but he grew on me. The ending was perfect for the story. Now I am waiting for the author to give me Shelby’s book so I can get more of the sassy girl.

nobody messes with daddy’s girl

Cassie.. 1st Lady of ddlg

Jonathan is an attorney working to better his city.. until one day any chance encounter opens his eyes to new kind of power. His new found pastime doesn’t change his personal beliefs though.. this becomes very obvious when a listing gains his attention. Instantly attracted and intrigued, he starts “researching” the target. His obsession builds as does his need to protect her at all costs.

Once they officially meet, Olivia is taken with him.

As Jonathan works to uncover who put him in her path, feelings evolve for Liv, and grow deeper for Jon. But, can she be his good little girl too? 🥵

The first time Jonathan sees Olivia is when he gets sent a photo with a contract attached to kill her.

He instantly becomes obsessed with her and makes it his mission to end whoever wanted her life to be over, and does everything he possibly can to keep her safe. Not only is he a killer by night, but he’s a prosecutor by day. He knows what to do in order to never get caught.

Which starts with him stalking her, keeping an eye on her constantly. Learning everything he needs to know about her, including where she works, which is where he goes to first meet her. Wanting to adopt a dog from the shelter.

Olivia is instantly speechless when he walks in because he is the most attractive person she has ever laid eyes on. Who also happens to be pretty much the first male to ever be nice to her.

This book was d a r k, it was funny and the characters were both very likable, even the side characters. I’m super pumped for Shelby and Devlin’s book!

I started and finished this book in one sitting, I was hooked from the first line.

“I will become her shadow and find the person who wants her dead, so I can eliminate the threat on her life.
Then, I will make her mine.”

A dark stalker romance between a serial killer and a plus size woman.

he's an assassin/ serial killer that will not hesitate to kill anyone who looks or say bad things about/to her.

The only thing about this book is that the ML is already in love with FL by looking at a picture of her; then again he is a serial killer…

He was assigned to kill her, but the moment he saw her picture, he decided to get her and kill anyone who does wrongs to her and the one who sent him to kill her.

In order to approach her, he decides to adopt a dog from the dog groomer she was owner of and they hit it off right away.

A fast paced story.

The moment Jonathan comes across a photo of Olivia, he has the obsessive need to protect her… by stalking her.

Jonathan lives a double life, in the DA’s office by day and unaliver for hire by night. After reading the first chapter in his POV, I was shook. 🤣 His inner commentary while he ✨works✨ had me chuckling.

Olivia is our sweet animal lover/business owner that is naive to most of the evil that surrounds her. But her and Jonathan together just work.

There’s definitely insta obsession/love vibes. And even with some of the graphic scenes, I felt like this story was pretty light hearted. It honestly just made me feel all gushy.

This is my first read from the author, and I can safely say after finishing this, it will definitely not be my last!

Jonathan is a killer who comes across Olivia as someone has put a hit out on her. Jonathan becomes obsessed with her and Olivia is instantly drawn to the attractive man who is showing her kindness. So much happens in this story, it's fast paced, intense and a truly gripping read. Oh, and those sex scenes between them? Seriously hot.

If you're a fan of dark romance, then I definitely suggest giving this one a read!

I liked this book. I liked that her stalker became her stalker to save her. He was honestly hilarious. The fact that he adopted Sadie because he knew she loved that dog was to cute. Her family was messed up and I’m sad her house got burned down. Her grandma sounds like she was a cool lady who thought ahead. I loved the cute ending. I loved Shelby and I can’t wait for her book to come out!

Let me start out by saying yes, I did DNF this book usually when I DNF a book I give it below one star I honestly don’t think it’s the Books fault there were some things that I just didn’t like about it that were personal opinion and I guess I just wasn’t in the mood for what I was reading first of all by the look of the cover as well as the synopsis, and the first few chapters I thought the book was gonna be rather dark. It is marketed as a dark Romance. And yes, there are definitely some elements of dark romance in this book but I just didn’t feel like it was a dark romance. It definitely has the possessive and obsessive traits which I do really like, but I think I was just in the mood for something darker in this book wasn’t hitting it I got 78% of the way through, this isn’t a bad book and it’s not written badly. It’s actually quite funny and if you’re looking for a book with good smut and darker elements with a little bit of lightness to balance it out I think you would love this book it just wasn’t for me.

3 stars. I have to start by saying there are a lot of red flag behaviors you have to overlook to be able to enjoy this book. Also as I was listening to this book I realized how bad it can sound to listen to a spicy scene that clearly was never read aloud before.😬 Also the way she would use / how they read daddy was a major ick for me. I truly loved his dark nature thoughand found his stalker friend a fun touch and great way to wrap in another book. I felt that there was just enough detail on the murder but not so much to be explicit. I will say the epilogue time jumps were different for me. Not really a book I could recommend and not one I feel the need to read again but I'm glad I read it.

still debating my thoughts on this. my immediate thoughts after reading: it's... okay?
- loved that the FMC was plus size - but she was really harassed because of it quite a lot and yikes
- the story started off strong
- the MMC is an adorable cinnamon roll (but also very much a murderer)
- but.... the second half to the end was missing something and fell short
- I'm all for the MMC having insta-love but I feel like the FMC immediately was okay with the fact that he's a serial killer and that was unexpected and honestly, I wish she had a little more fight in her overall.

Wtf, needs an updated summary

So this is a dark romance yadda yadda, I get it. At least warn people he's a fucking psycho killer. I'm all for a nice twisted stalker romance because the fact that the guy is protective and possessive is something I find sexy, but this? No. Usually the mmc is motivated by a messed up sense of altruism, this guy is nothing like that, he just likes to watch people suffer as they die while controls it all.

What an absolutely frustrating book. Editing errors, a few sentence structuring problems, but that's not the problem here.

The problem is this bull story of "insta- love". More so on the girl than the guy.

I enjoyed the torture and killing scenes. All but one. The last one. If you know you know. That was completely unrealistic and so freaking disappointing. Who the FUCK would act the way that killee did? Nobody!!

OMG. I can't believe I finished this garbage.
