Understanding Moonseed explores markers in a life through essays that chronicle the author’s personal journey on a road that is both imperfect and fraught with the unforeseeable. Along the way, we meet the big city girl with a precocious interest in politics, have brushes with pivotal historic moments in the 60’s and 70’s, and continue her journey falling in love with a man who became famous in the music industry, moving together to Silicon Valley, founding what would become one of the region’s largest independent PR/branding firms, marrying, and settling into roles as wife, mother and executive working 60-hours a week. The unforeseeable lurks as - after a short illness - cancer takes husband, father, and soulmate. The family’s grief and devastation reveal each member’s character as they try to understand how life will continue without this column of the family. As each of them grows and creates life anew, the arc of the story bends back to love.
