Twin sisters Tabby and Sage co-own a candle shop, but will it all go up in flames in Valona Jones’ series debut, perfect for fans of Amanda Flower and Bailey Cates.

30-year-old fraternal twins Tabby and Sage Winslow own The Book and Candle Shop in Savannah. Sage is hot-headed and impulsive while Tabby is calm and collected, making them the perfect partnership. When one of their customers is found murdered, from a blow to the head, that partnership is put to the test.

Blithe McAdam had been seen in a heated argument with shop clerk Gerard, which immediately makes him suspect number one. The twins are convinced of Gerard’s innocence and start digging into Blithe’s past. But no one is cooperating. The neighbor who found the body isn’t talking, medical examiner Quig won’t give any details about the autopsy, and nasty rumors begin surfacing about the drowning of Blithe’s father years earlier—evidence that could seal Gerard’s fate.

Tabby and Sage dig desperately for the truth. But it’s not only their friend who’s in peril. With the clock ticking, the twins find themselves in the grip of an unseen and deadly energy that has seeped into their midst—and in the sights of a ruthless killer.

The first book in a new series about twins, Tabby and Sage, who run a candle shop in Savannah. As the cover indicates there is something magical about their family and their shop. When a customer is murdered their assistant, Gerard, is the main suspect and Tabby and Sage begin their own investigation to clear his name.

I enjoyed the characters and the story, especially Tabby's developing relationship with her boyfriend, which holds lots of promise for future books. Sage was occasionally a bit too obnoxious so I hope she warms up as the series progresses.

As the investigation proceeds it turns out that the murder was due to a much bigger political game and this results in a dangerous and dramatic climax. A satisfying ending to a good read.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Snuffed Out, the first book in a new cozy mystery series, proved to be a snuff out. The cover design attracted me to request an Arc and the blurb sounded interesting enough as well but the book failed to engage me at all. After a certain point, I began skipping pages to get to the climax instead of DNFing it. For me to enjoy a book, it needs to have characters that I can like and none of the characters were likeable or relatable in this book. I found the twins, Tabby and Sage to be immature with questionable morals (especially Sage) so it was ironic when they questioned other people's shortcomings. Plus, the explanation of the magic/energy work went completely over my head.

My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Crooked Lane Books and the author for the e-Arc of the book. Quite a lot of readers have enjoyed this book but I struggled with it.

The book publishes today!

I have to admit that the cover art for this book is what drew me to the story at first. Very engaging and enchanting cover! Once I started reading, the cover took a back seat to the characters, the story and the premise of twin sisters running a candle shop.

The Basics: Sisters Tabby and Sage Winslow have completely different personalities, but together they do a great job running their business, The Book and Candle Shop. Things are going along magically until a problematic customer is found dead. When a clerk at the shop becomes the number one suspect, the twins find themselves doing some amateur sleuthing to save their business. Can they discover the killer's identity before their candle shop business goes up in smoke?

I enjoyed this story. The characters are quirky and the plot kept my interest. I liked the candle/bookstore subplot. It's been done before by others, but still entertaining.

I will definitely read the next book in this series! Can't wait to find out what happens next for the twins!

Tabby and Sage are twin sisters who run a book and candle shop…and they also have this supernatural ability of controlling energy and communicating to each other with this energy.

A woman named Blithe comes into the shop one day complaining she was ripped off (though she uses another term that is an alternate of a slur for Romani people). The sisters refund her and give her a complimentary lotion for her troubles, but then Blithe is mysteriously murdered shortly after this interaction. The story then is much about trying to find who murdered Blithe, the two sisters being some of the top suspects.

The sisters knowing their innocence start an independent investigation of their own and the story follows them tracking down and talking to different townsfolk. This part of the story was overall pretty fun but some of the transitions were a bit choppy.

This book also had one of my least favorite things I keep seeing in books: a bisexual character who cheats on their monogamous opposite sex partner with the same sex to explore their sexuality. I’m so tired of seeing this, as it once again plays into the stereotype that bisexuals are promiscuous or more likely to cheat on you. It’s just not true, STOP DOING THIS.

I love the cover! It’s witchy and enticing and really draws in the reader who would enjoy this sort of supernatural mystery.

I think with a good edit and a sensitivity read or two this could be a quite interesting cozy mystery series. As of right now I’m giving this 2.5 stars.

⭐️⭐️💫

Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the E-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

DNF at 7%

I usually try to get to at least 10% before bailing, but I just couldn’t quite do it. Especially with the way the plot had started. Some weaknesses I struggled with:

• Everything is overexplained. Readers can infer things! Please trust them not to be total idiots. Detailing out every single thing just makes the book drag.

• Tied into the last point, it was very repetitive. Metaphors were used multiple times in a row - once is enough!

• I know Blithe is Evil Bad Lady, but the Romani slur was not necessary

• With the obvious caveat that I didn’t get far enough to see a character arc: wow Sage is kind of a terrible person with the way she manipulates and uses people. I can’t believe everyone - especially Tabby who seems to idolize her! - is okay with her literally wiping someones memories.

• The OCD neatness thing was also not necessary, I thought we were past that

• So much telling, so little showing. I guess this too ties into my first point.

• Final nail in the coffin: the detectives showed up and they are very weird. Why are they grilling Tabby about Blithe’s family and friends?? Why does she know so much???

Anyway. The cover was very cute and I’d been hoping for a cozy mystery but I am not vibing with it.

This enchanting debut title features book and candle shop owner Tabby Winslow. What her friends don’t know is that Tabby and her twin sister Sage possess psychic powers. These fail to warn them when an irate customer leaves the shop and ends up dead. With her shop manager a prime suspect, Tabby determines to clear his name. Meanwhile, she needs to come to terms with her powers if she’s to save the shop along with their lives. An intriguing cast of characters, a solid whodunit, and a touch of magic mix into a suspenseful brew in this delightful cozy mystery! Disclaimer – I received an advance reading copy from the author. This review is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Snuffed Out Earns 5/5 Aroma-Therapies…Compelling & Clever!

Thirty-year-old Tabby Winslow and her twin “older” sister Sage inherited The Book and Candle Shop in Savannah, Georgia. It’s been in the family for three generations popular for their handcrafted aromatic candles and a quiet, restorative environment. The one thing most people are unaware is that the twins, as is true about their family, are energetics with the special ability to manipulate the energies around them, but each sister has an unique skill set unto themselves.

Their shop clerk Gerard Smith tried to warn Tabby of the oncoming “storm” entering the shop, which even had the shop cats, Harley and Luna, fleeing the arriving customer. The negative energy was courtesy of the wealthy Blithe McAdam … “Charlatans!” Tabby found it hard to deal with the flurry, but her sister Sage used her calm manner and energetics to diminish the negativity. Ms. McAdam, however, was still unhappy that the aromatherapy candles she’d been purchasing didn’t rid her of the debilitating headaches, even though Tabby knew she’d followed Auntie Oralee’s recipe perfectly. Although a refund and free product was offered and accepted, Blithe was still bent on destroying The Book and Candle’s reputation. So, what happens now when two detectives arrive at the shop announcing they are investigating a homicide? Blithe McAdam is dead.

Valona Jones “lit up” the cozy world with the first book in her Magic Candle Shop Mystery series with a close sister dynamic with a spark of competition, a karmic murder, social media attacks, and a unique magical element. Energetics. This ability creates an interesting advantage for the sisters when entangled in an investigation both from an offense and defensive position. Almost like a “lie detector,” they sense underlining “currents” of emotions. The victim had quite the acerbic tongue that cut more than just the sister’s patience, and it was engaging to see how other suspects were revealed: a half-brother, a local politician, victims of her verbal threats, and a developer. It gets complicated with planted evidence, a perilous hoax, and energies flying all around, but the final reveal was quite a surprising showdown. The lore behind the “energetics” was fascinating along with its use, secretive community, benefits, and dangers. Of course, along with candle talk, sweet treats, and family interactions, romance is always a favorite element. Tabby’s highlights the issues with keeping her ability secret especially to a close someone who doesn’t have the skill, but it was a fun to follow the changes.

Disclosure: I received an ARC from Crooked Lane Books thru NetGalley. My review is voluntary with honest insights and comments.

A brand new paranormal cozy mystery that is definitely something to get excited about! Wonderfully written plot with a layer of twists and turns to keep you turning pages added to intriguing characters that will delight and entertain! Set in a book and candle shop, a set of twin sisters with special abilities, create and sell their wares along with a longtime family friend as their best salesperson. Someone is out to shut them down and they may not just stop with destroying the business. Interesting personal relationships for the sisters also add a depth to the story as well. I must say that this book charmed me from the start. I absolutely can't wait to read more about all of the characters!

Although I have to say that I also discovered the audiobook and after listening to a sample, I ended up listening to the entire book again. This book will definitely be going on my must listen list!!!

The idea of this book being set in a candle and bookshop by twin sisters with magical abilities seemed right up my alley. That was until I started really reading. The main character was wishy washy and whiny, while her sister was cruel and selfish. Not something that I like to read in a cozy mystery. I won’t be continuing with the series.

Tabby and Sage are fraternal twins with paranormal abilities. Sage embraced hers, Tabby repressed hers after an incident 15 years prior that nearly killed a man. They run a candle shop that’s inherited from their aunt and deceased mom, with the help of their clerk Gerard.
The murder of an obnoxious customer results in Gerard being suspect #1 and primarily Tabby sets out to clear his name.
For most of the book, Sage is just NOT a nice person, she’s mean, uses her magical abilities to secretly punish Gerard (her ex) without his knowledge, to the point of almost draining him to death. If at any point the author expects sympathy for Sage, I’m not feeling it. She had no remorse for her actions, she’s been doing this for two years without considering the consequences to Gerard or his family.
Tabby is not much better, she KNOWS her sister is doing this and does nothing until Gerard is almost killed. Twin or not, she should have stopped her sister a long time before it got to that point.

The murder of the customer is a standard murder mystery with lots of red herrings and red herrings along the way. The culprit was identified and the final showdown was interesting. Overall, a good premise that left something to be desired in the execution.

I really hate giving bad reviews but sometimes it can’t be helped. Usually it’s a matter of it being not the right book for me. I am sure others will enjoy this one but I couldn’t connect with anything: characters, location, setting; nothing worked for me. I found the main character annoying and unlikeable, her twin sister even more so. The setting was quaint but also seemed to be all over the place. The whole energy thing was never really explained, just thrown in when it seemed to fit (from the part of the book I could get through). I found myself not wanting to read on so I didn’t. This was a DNF for me.

I received a copy from #NetGalley for an honest review.

Seemed like a good concept but it was poorly done. Very disjointed, almost felt like I was in book 2 of a series having skipped book 1. Did not like the characters or care about the mystery.

Snuffed Out is about twin "energetics" (basically witches, although they'd be offended if you said so) running a candle shop in Savannah, Georgia. Our main character is Tabby, who almost killed someone with her powers once and now refuses to use them. FYI the man in question was going to assault her, but that's only provided as a reason for why she lost control of her powers and not an actual traumatic event with lingering emotional scars. But I digress. There is plenty of space for ranting below. Her twin is Sage, who can't help but use her abilities for everything. This is a cozy mystery, and our victim is a customer of the candle shop who was videoed making a scene at the shop over an ineffective aromatherapy candle. Even though they handled it professionally and without rising to the bait, this is the basis for the police's interest in the twins and their employee. Really. After being hassled by the police over it, the two dedicate themselves to finding the real killer.

So here's the thing. There were so many moments that made me mad while reading this. I took a slew of notes, and staring at them now, there's not a reasonable way to pare it down and organize it. So instead, treat yourself to this list of my complaints, in order of when they arose.

1. My first little clue that this book might not suit me is the use of a racial slur referencing the Romani people not once but twice.
2. Next up, Tabby notes that the detectives are like "salt and spicy pepper," and the spicy part of the equation is a woman named Sharmila. The racial undertones there are weird and unwelcome.
3. There's a clunky attempt to address policing and racism when the twins' employee, Gerard, who I think is Black and definitely isn't white (the author sort of dances around it), is pulled in as a suspect. And though the book decries the assumption that a Black man is good at sports (fair), it leans into other racial stereotypes by giving him a dad who didn't stick around and a grandmother who raised him. I have more to say on Gerard's depiction as a bi man to come *sigh.* Anyway, it's not a cohesive theme of the book to question why the police especially distrusted a Black man or to worry about what future injustices he might experience compared to one of the white characters. Later, Tabby notes that she wants the "bad element" taken off the streets by the police. So her distrust seems to be situational rather than systematic, i.e. when it becomes a problem for her personally.
4. I really oughtn't cast stones over this, but Tabby seems to have the thinnest skin alive. Her deeply scarring experience of so-called bullying as a kid was being called "dummy," and this supposedly happened in public school?? Bro, get your head out of the sand on the kinds of things kids say to each other because it's rough. Your life was not hard, Tabby.
5. Now let's get into it about Tabby's love interest. Quig's the friend who's been boldly pining after her (and he's not the only one-- more on that to come) while being a guy's guy who dates socialites. He believes that no man is inherently clean and tidy. A woman has to make it so, be it a mom or a girlfriend. So he's a real winner. On a superficial level, he drives a Hummer, which gives me the ick.
6. About our other pining lad... It's a classic love triangle that exists because the protagonist is just so sparkly special that everyone's trying to get with her. Gerard's jealous to see her getting closer to Quig and comments that she'll look like a goddess "for Quig" because her dress is so beautiful for an event. Instead of correcting him that she'll look beautiful for herself or just in general, Tabby instead goes the self-deprecating route. You can smell the toxic masculinity for MILES. And it's extra annoying because it's not really a triangle. Tabby's crystal clear with Gerard that she's not interested, but he keeps pushing his luck to let her know that he's in love with her.
7. The romantic relationships aren't the only problematic ones in Tabby's life. Sage is constantly pushing boundaries, making demands, and acting on her bitterness-- apparently the major driving force in her life. This especially comes up with Gerard, Sage's ex who she torments by siphoning off his energy for revenge. The kicker? She wiped his memory of their time together because she's so mad he cheated on her. And since his grandmother has Alzheimer's, he's especially freaked out by the gap in his timeline. Sage takes it too far (if you don't already think she has) and almost kills Gerard from taking too much of his life force or whatever. The sisters finally have it out over this mistreatment, but their aunt says Tabby has to forgive Sage because family's the most important blah blah blah, so Tabby just... gets over it? Like what the fuck. During their argument, it comes out that Sage's extra mad that Gerard cheated on her because he's bi?? She's butthurt because she didn't know, and apparently that's worse than past boyfriends who cheated on her with women. This lovely mix of biphobia from the character and bi stereotyping from the author KILLS ME. Like, what? He's bi, so that means he just wants to sleep with everyone? Even Tabby? Ugh.
8. This one's a quicker one: Tabby has an awkward attempt to interact with a gender-nonconforming person and figure out how to refer to them. It's not the most heinous thing in the book (see: numbers 1-7 for a refresher), but it's not good either. She just decides on a set of pronouns based on physical presentation and powers onward.
9. I'm not mad Tabby's got a strong moral compass (especially compared to Sage), but her white savior complex is another matter. When questioning a Latino man, she claims to empathize with his experience with racist police. But like... she can't? Because she's white? And her experience with the police was smoothed over because her friend with benefits is old money and hooked her up with the best lawyer money can buy? I also didn't appreciate the author writing the Latino character's dialogue in broken English. Ultimately, he's down on his luck, and Tabby offers him some advice because *white savior complex.* Get the woman her angel wings or whatever.
10. The twins talk at a woman in a domestic abuse situation and tell her to think of her baby if she won't think of herself. And like, they don't listen to what she has to say. They just steamroll her even though they've never been in her shoes. Plus, there isn't a good relationship between them, so I'm not sure how they thought that interaction would go.
11. Finally, there's this antiquated family "need" for a new generation of women to take over the business that's just plain creepy. Both Sage and their aunt put pressure on Tabby to escalate things with her not-boyfriend so she can continue the family line like ~what~ century is this exactly??

Well, if it weren't obvious, I don't recommend this book. Do yourself a favor and find your cozy mystery and/or witchy vibes somewhere else.

I had a hard tine reading Snuffed Out. I usually love books about witches and magic but, something is off about this book. I felt like everyone, especially Sage is jumping to conclusions and ready to pounce at everyone. There is no unity between the sisters, its very strained feeling unlike most cozies where you feel warmth for the characters. It's a very cold feeling I get while reading this book.

Also constantly talking about energies was off putting. Especially in the beginning of the book. It was a constant subject and their was no real purpose to it. We know they are witches we don't have to be reminded in every sentence about their energies.

Their is alot of tention and prejudice especially a from Sage. Shes uses her powers to constantly meddle with people and then feels attacked that people look at her badly because people don't like having their thought invaded. She's very prejudice against non witches but then doesn't like when people don't like witches. But how can people like you if you send out negative energy all the time and have walls up. Her behavior effects how her sister looks at things as well and I feel that she can never come up with out her own opinions they are all influenced by Sage. She is constantly inviting her Tabbys mind and trying to control her even tells her how to feel.

Tabby is saposed yo be the main character but Sage takes over so much you'd thing she was the main character. I was not a fan of this book and have no interest in continuing this series.

Ummm....this book feels like a bunch of pretty good disconnected scenes that got strung together. 15% in and I already have a bunch of "uh, what?" moments. The cops focus in on the heroes, for pretty much no reason. Uh, what? (I mean seriously, anyone who has ever worked with the public knows that some customers just yell threats. If store owners went around killing their worst customers, the world's overpopulation problems would be solved.) The protagonists powers are very, um, sketchily described but they have the power they just conveniently need for the plot. Uh, what? Someone disappears and they suddenly jump to the idea that they've been taken by the cops. Uh, what? Also, the sisters are supposed to be close, but one of them is basically not a nice person. I have to admit I gave up and DNF'ed this book as I couldn't take it anymore. I feel like this could have been so good if just someone had sat down and written the scene transitions.

This was a pretty good start to a new series. I loved that our protagonists are twins with psychic abilities. It had the right amount of paranormal to keep it fun, and I did enjoy the characters. I loved the setting and their Book and Candle shop. I felt like this was a bit too long, but that could be because I didn't connect with the characters as much as I usually do. I will definitely continue with the series and cannot wait to see what happens in book 2!

This is the first in a new series featuring Tabby Winslow and her rock music loving twin sister, Sage and I really enjoyed getting to know them. Although there are frequent scene setting paragraphs, I found this paranormal cozy mystery, set in a shop called The Book and Candle Shop in Savannah, very compelling. Gerard Smith also works in the store and the twins have a couple of black cats, Harley and Luna. The tale has a great ending and I intend to continue with Luminary of Death, in this series.

Unfortunately I did not like this book. It spent way too much time telling and not enough time describing the actions so the reader could “see” what was happening.

I also did not like the characters. They repeated a lot of the same stuff over and over and I also didn’t get why the art students liked Gerard so much, which I think is a perfect example of telling without describing. What was it that they liked about him so much? The reader has no idea because we can’t “see” him.

The main character’s relationship with Quig also didn’t ring true because once again we had no idea what she saw in Quig because we were unable to picture him due to the writing.

I finish every book I start no matter what but this one really stretched my patience. I did finish however and unfortunately I cannot say the ending redeemed it whatsoever.

I’m sorry, Snuffed Out was a big miss for this late night reader. 🙁

Lovely cozy mystery book with a lovely magic element, with some romance thrown in. I truly enjoyed the book as a nice read. I will definitely be tackling it again on stormy nights.

The setting of the book definitely adds to the story being based in Savannah adds some interesting facets to the story. There are some of the standard witch tropes, and some spots reminded me of the movie practical magic, but that just enhanced my joy in the book.

A light read I will certainly be recommending.

Your standard fluff murder mystery with some woo-woo elements to mix things up. It’s a fine read for when you’re in the mood for that sort of thing. However, the friends with benefits thing seemed to pop up out of nowhere and felt a bit forced. Actions w/those romantic relationships got creepy. Also not a huge fan of continual use of OCD as an adjective for someone being neat. It kept my interest but enough red flags that I probably wouldn’t seek out another book in this series.

Tabby Winslow has few things she cares deeply for, but her twin, Sage, and their candle making business are right up there. The Book and Candle Shop is in one of the older neighbourhoods of Savannah and since their mother's death and aunt's relocation to Florida they live above the store while running everything together. The sisters have secrets known only to themselves and their aunt, including the ability to link their thoughts and harness the power of both positive and negative energies.

When their one employee, Gerard, is targeted by the police after the suspicious death of one of their more awkward customers Tabby throws herself into proving his innocence and finding out who really killed her. Coming up against those determined to stop her investigation by whatever means necessary, and even with Sage's less enthusiastic assistance, Tabby fears they may lose everything if she fails.

This is the first in Valona Jones's new cosy crime series and there are, by necessity, scene setting sections throughout. Unfortunately those at the beginning swamp the storyline and the first few chapters were a definite struggle to get through because of this. Whilst the actual crime investigation made entertaining reading I found the use of secret abilities a little too convenient when any difficulties arose. The relationships between Tabby, Sage, their aunt, and friends, however, were the best part of the storyline and definitely worth pursuing in the next book.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. If cosy crime with supernatural undertones are your thing then this is for you and I will definitely read at least one more book in the series to see how things move forward now the scene has been set.

What drew me to this new series was not just the cover. The setting of the historic section of Savannah, GA and the Book and Candle shop owned by twin sisters Tabby and Sage were the very definition of a cozy mystery. Add a paranormal theme and I was ready to settle into my comfy chair and play armchair sleuth with Tabby and Sage.
The sisters not only run the Book and Candle shop but they live over the shop meaning they have a whole lot riding on tracking down the killer of one of their most obnoxious customers. Blythe shows up like a hurricane, accusing the sisters of scamming their customers. Seems she had bought a scented candle that was supposed to help banish her headache but didn't do the job. Even though she was told there were no medical promises and they would be happy to refund her money and add some fancy hand cream, she says she will spread the word that the sisters are scammers and she'll ruin them. It takes all of Tabby and Sage's self control to not blast her with their magical abilities. When Blythe vacates the store that isn't the end of things. Blythe is found dead and their employee becomes suspect #1 with Tabby and Sage as runners up. In true cozy fashion the sisters investigate and turn up information that put a bullseye on their backs.
Ad this is the first of a series the pace is on the slow side until almost the halfway point. It takes time to set the scene, give the back story, etc. so I made allowances for the occasional dragging parts. The mystery was well developed with some twists and turns to keep me guessing wrong. With a resident cat and the theme of candle making added, I am ready to put the next book in the series, Luminary of Death, on my TBR list.

I enjoyed the mystery part of this book however 38 chapters was a bit much it could have been done in half of that because a lot of it was repetitious. Also I agree with a lot of the other reviewers in that I did not like the twin Sage she was very selfish and self-centered and cared little for her sister or anyone else. I felt bad for the main character because she was basically pushed out of her home to live with her boyfriend thanks to her sister, her aunt and her aunt's boyfriend, even though she wasn't sure she was ready for that relationship. Also explaining every aspect of their magical abilities with completely unnecessary this isn't a scientific book it's a paranormal cozy so keep it light. Since it seems to be a new author hopefully she will learn from her mistakes in the first book and future books will be a little more light-hearted and enjoyable to read.

Twin sisters, Tabby and Sage, own their family’s book and candle shop in Georgia. Their lives are upended when an angry customer is found dead and Gerard, their shop clerk, is arrested.

Tabby decides to take matters into her own hands and start investigating when the cops don’t seem interested in looking any deeper into the murder. Of course, she digs up secrets and scandals.

This has all of the hallmarks of a cozy mystery:
Amateur sleuth
Small town feel
Limited suspect pool
Light romance

Plus:
Bookstore setting
Savannah
Adorable cat sidekick
Aromatherapy
Magic

I enjoyed Tabby and the descriptions of her candle-making. The Book and Candle Shop sounds dreamy. The mystery had several layers to it with enough reveals to keep me intrigued and guessing.

While the story is set in Savannah, limiting it to a historic business district gives it a small town feel where Tabby can question other business owners and the local officials.

There’s a secondary storyline with Tabby’s magic - because of a tragic incident in her past, she refuses to use her powers to their full potential. At times, I found myself wanting more magic and less murder because the magic is unique and intriguing.

Perfect read if you’re looking for a southern spiced cozy with a scent of magic.

Snuffed out is a promising first book in the Magic Candle Shop Mystery series by Velona Jones. Although it struck me as an edgier cozy mystery, with more of the romance element that I'm used to, it still contained interesting characters and a well planned mystery. I would have liked to hear more about the magical items sold in the main character's shop but hopefully there will be more details in the next book. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.
