She has to stay off the grid. He's got thirty days to save his family's prairie cottage. Can two strangers share a home for a month... or will they give up on their only chance to fix everything?
Kelly Watts is living the American dream. As the CEO at Homestead Sweet Home, she’s created an empire out of home decor and lifestyle trends on social media. What’s more? She’s engaged to a highly successful Bitcoin investor. Everything is perfect.
And then it’s not.
A scandal descends over the Americana-inspired influencer. In a matter of hours, media and fans alike have decided to cancel Kelly and her brand. She has only one choice: lay low until the media storm blows over.
In Prairie Creek, Logan Ryerson has just taken over his family’s little country inn. But without any local tourism, the business has slipped to nothing. He could use a good idea to keep it going, otherwise, Logan will have to sell the last thing that ties him to his beloved hometown and return to the corporate world he'd long ago left behind. Then, he gets a call. There’s a celebrity coming to town, and she needs a long term B&B experience. Does he have any vacancies at the cottage off of Brown County Road 37?
Fans of Hickory Grove, Cedar Cove, and sweet, small-town romance will fall in love with Prairie Creek in this first-in-series standalone from USA Today Bestseller Elizabeth Bromke.

Elizabeth Bromke writes women's fiction and heartwarming romance. In her stories, she weaves together family dynamics and the triumphs and trials of modern relationships. Echoes of the past flavor her books with nostalgia.
Elizabeth lives in the mountains of Arizona. There, she enjoys walking, reading, and cooking with her husband, son, and their sweet Golden-mix, Winnie.
What a great start to a new small town series by one of favorite clean contemporary romance/women's fiction authors. Kelly is the CEO and face of Homestead and Hearth (H&H), a lifestyle empire (think Martha Stewart or the Pioneer Woman) she's built, but it seems that everything she's built may be coming down around her. There's a scandal (the reader isn't told what it is), and Kelly is to get away with her assistant for a month. She's not allowed to be on any kind of social media platform, and even has to give her cell phone to her assistant!! She ends up in the small town of Prairie Creek at a charming inn that has no internet and cell service is slow and spotty at best.
Logan Ryerson has recently inherited his late aunt Mabel's inn, and plans to start some long overdue repairs while deciding if he wants to run the inn or sell it, when he gets a call from Kelly's assistant reserving two rooms for the next month. At least that will bring in some cash so he can fix a few things while he weighs his options.
So much was packed into this Hallmark meets DIY novella. We meet Kelly, her fiance Kyle, her assistant Deb, Logan, his best friend Miles, we learn about the history of Ryerson's, a lot about Kelly and Kyle, and find out what the scandal was that had the powers that be at H&H send Kelly into hiding for a month.
I liked how Kelly and Logan got to know each other because of the forced proximity. Kelly didn't have a car, there was no internet and not much to do at the inn, so they were kind of forced to get to know each other. I loved how Kelly had to use a notebook for her "blog" since she couldn't be on any social media. I liked the bit of mystery about the scandal--it made me wonder what the heck happened that would scare her board of directors into taking such drastic action such as sending her away for a month! Thankfully it's all revealed before the story ends--I'm not good with cliffhangers. I like the set up for the next book. It's going to be fun getting to know the small town of Prairie Creek.
I was given a complimentary copy for review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Dark Side Of The Reno. This is a modern day romance with old school flair, featuring concepts of social media "influencer" (God how I hate that term, particularly when applied to myself), DIY craze (and the multitudes of shows and networks that capitalize on it), cryptocurrency... and an old bed and breakfast that suddenly gets handed down to an unsuspecting nephew. As with Emily Bleeker's What It Seems, this does a really good job of showing the darker/ more realistic side of certain aspects of social media and television... but it *is* still a romance, and a shortish one to boot. So there is quite a bit of story in these 130 or so pages. And Bromke does it all so very well. And then, because this *is* a series starter... there is a "dun dun dun!" moment in the closing words that will have you waiting with bated breath for Book 2! Very much recommended.
Kelly is a celebrity. She is a home décor and lifestyle trends expert on social media. She lives in a beautiful home with her fiancé. Then a scandal befalls her. She and her assistant escape to a tiny inn where she can rest and reflect. There is no cell phone and no internet available to her. The reader doesn't know what the scandal is until it's teased out in the story.
Logan has just inherited the 5 guest room inn from his great aunt. It's out of the way and there is little to no business. Still, he wants to build it back up to save his family's heritage. He's also recovering from a huge loss. Again, the reader doesn't know what it is.
As Logan and Kelly struggle with their demons, they also grow to like and trust each other. This is a lovely story about two adults emerging from their chrysalises to a new life. It's well written and very engaging. It can be read by anyone other than the youngest readers.
I received an Advance Reader Copy from the Author. This is my honest review.
The Country Cottage is a romance novella and the first book in the new Prairie Creek series by Elizabeth Bromke. This author has written several fun and entertaining series with great characters and this looks to be another one. This time we have Kelly, a social media home decor and DIY influencer from Texas and Logan, a contractor who has just inherited his deceased aunt’s B&B in South Dakota. Kelly is trying to escape a mistake that could ruin her career and Logan is trying to decide what to do with life after a personal trauma. We get hints of what their issues are that keep you turning the page to find out and a surprise at the very end that makes you want the next story now. I received an ARC in exchange for my review.
Kelly is a celebrity who is going off the grid for a while to let a mistake she made quiet down. Logan has recently inherited his aunt’s B&B but he is unsure of where his life is heading. He rents rooms to Kelly and her assistant. What better place is there to hide out then Prairie Creek? We slowly find out what happened to both Kelly and Logan. They both come into their own at this rural B&B. I wonderful story with so many feelings! I loved it and I am already looking forward to her next book! I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
Another great book by Elizabeth Bromke! Kelly Watts was the CEO of Homestead Sweet Home. She was successful at her job but an incident happened and social media was all over her leaving bad messages. Her boss told her she needed to take a break and take a vacation till the air cooled. Her assistant found her a B&B in Prairie Creek, South Dakota. Kelly had a fake engagement to Kyle who was a new age crypto guru and this was just for publicity. Logan was taking over the country B&B after his great aunt's death. There was no local tourism so business was not good. Kelly loved being there and was not going back to her job. Logan needed her help so she would stay. Could there possibly be a romantic connection with Kelly and Logan? You will have to read this story to get your answers.
What a wonderful start to a new series! Logan and Kelly's story was a heartwarming read with just the right amount of drama. I loved it and can't wait for the next book in this series. I received a complimentary copy and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I received an ARC of The Country Cottage. This is Book one in the Prairie Creek Series. In the beginning, I was trying to figure out what really happened to Kelly. Is Deb a friend or not? Can Kelly trust Kyle? Also, what is going on with Logan? Who is Delilah? What is the deal with Logan’s sister Mabel? Almost halfway through, pieces of the puzzle start falling in place. Spend time in Prairie Creek getting to know the Ryerson family at the Country Cottage. As always, Elizabeth finds a way to bring God’s guiding love into the story. Now I need to read The Thimble Shoppe to learn what Mabel is up to!
This novella is the beginning of a new Elizabeth Bromke series. In it she introduces characters, but the main characters are Kelly (a social media star who has fallen from grace) and Logan (a man who has just taken over a small, quaint B&B upon the death of his great aunt).
Kelly is on a journey of self-discovery to adjust what is important in her life. Logan is also at a crossroads. The gentle bringing together of the two is a delight. I can't wait for the rest of the series!
Thanks to Elizabeth Bromke for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
The Country Cottage was a fun read with a bit of mystery and some romance. While romance isn't typically my genre of books, I really enjoyed this lighthearted story of Logan and Kelly. The story really reminds you how reality TV and electronics have taken over and sometimes you just need to get back to living life. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one in the series!
I loved The Country Cottage! This book gave a glimpse of what all the DIY/renovation show celebrity lives are like and then flipped it around when something happens and they have to redeem themselves. Through this book, Kelly and Logan, find their way forward to what is important to them to be authentic. I look forward to the next book in the Prairie Creek series!!!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest review.
This is the first book in Ms. Bromke's lovely new series, Prairie Creek Sweet Romances, and it is off to a brilliant start! Kelly is a successful home and lifestyle influencer on social media. She is engaged and has a great life, or so she thought until scandal hits home. She escapes with her assistant to a quaint inn in a small town, where she hopes to get some quiet time. Logan has recently inherited the inn Kelly is staying at. It's small and barely has any business, but Logan wants to keep it and fix it up to keep his family's heritage. He has also endured some difficulties and as Kelly and Logan both deal with their own problems, they grow closer and begin to trust one another. With each other's help, they start to come out from under the weight of their problems and a beautiful relationship develops between them. The story concludes with a surprise at the end leaving you anxious to read the next one. I loved getting to know Kelly and Logan, such great, realistic and endearing characters. The story was heartwarming with a hint of drama and was beautifully written. A brilliant start to a charming new series!
I received a complimentary advanced reader's copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Elizabeth Bromke has started another great series and The Country Cottage is the first book in A Prairie Creek Romance. This is a wonderfully written story and beginning to this new series. It has romance, mystery, friendship, some scandals and a lot of unanswered questions that I’m sure will be answered in books to come! The characters are introduced and very real. You will love them from the beginning to the very surprise ending that leaves you yearning for Book Two, The Thimble Shoppe. Bromke always writes an engaging and captivating novel and I am looking forward to the books to come in this astounding series. I highly recommend you start this new one or any series of hers….. Elizabeth Bromke NEVER disappoints!!!!
Thank you Elizabeth Bromke and Publishing in the Pines for this extraordinary novel in exchange for my honest review. #thecountrycottage #aprairiecreekromance #publishinginthepines #elizabethbromke
A fun start to a new series. Social media star Kelly, and her assistant Deb finds themselves on the run from the social media limelight and judgement after a tragedy on a project. Kelly leave behind fiancé and bitcoin trader Kyle, who doesn’t seem all that dedicated to the Homestead and Hearth branding projects. She finds herself at the Ryerson farm, managed by the handsome Logan, grandson of the former owner.
Will Kelly be able to survive unplugging from the Internet? What will Logan think when he learns the real reason she is in Prairie Creek?
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
This story got lost in my stack of Kindle books for a time. When I uncovered it, I started it over. The Country Cottage is an easy reading Cozy Romance. Ms. Bromke always spins a good yarn. If you like cozy romance, this story is for you. What is Cozy Romance? There is no steam (there than a hint here or there), no major drama, and no dead guys. Cozy Romance is the kind of book you can get lost in. As you read, you catch yourself chuckling, smiling, and nodding at the actions going on on the page. I will not spoil the plot. However, I will tell you this is a sweet story. I would rate this story G.
The Country Cottage ~Prairie Creek #1 by Elizabeth Bromke Yet another fantastic start to a brand new series from Elizabeth. Absolutely brilliant romance story that's very well-written! And it felt very real to me, honestly, I can’t think of a thing I didn’t like about this book. It’s how life really is. Elizabeth continuously writes such quality pieces of work. I am biased when it comes to Elizabeth. You don't want to miss this one. I highly recommend this book. Thank you, Elizabeth, for yet another fantastic read, and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Logan Ryerson has just decided to try and run his family's country inn when he receives his first booking. Kelly Watts needs to get away for a while and lie low, the inn seems to be the ideal place but when her world implodes the only person left to help her is Logan. It was obvious to which way this was going to go, but I enjoyed the book none the less. Hope to read more books in the series in the future.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT She has to stay off the grid. He's got thirty days to save his family's prairie cottage. Can two strangers share a home for a month... or will they give up on their only chance to fix everything?
MY TAKE This is a short but cute, clean romance. Both Logan and Kelly are dealing with some issues. It's fun to see them get to know each other. The final bit sets up the next book in the series.
I read this one in one afternoon. I enjoyed the premise of a TV renovation celebrity escaping to a quaint country B&B to recover from a scandal. I really liked both Kelly and Logan and enjoyed how these two relate to each other. I am excited to read more about Prairie Creek in the upcoming books.
This book was a fresh and modern take on a country girl at heart A budding romance and small-town venue makes Kelly rethink her Reality which is about to change. I am looking forward to reading the authors next book in this series!
I somehow read this book out of sequence and was still able to follow the storyline! What a great set of novels, each can stand alone or be read as an ongoing story. Read on, you won't be disappointed!
Not exactly my greatest read—but all the characters turned out okay. The first did not. The second one did and they were in the house at the same time and were dating. Jeanette Stracner
This book was cute, and I didn’t dislike it - but it felt like everything happened too quickly and I’d have liked it to be longer and go into more detail. I can see how it’d be a cute little romance series though.
I really liked this book and I’m looking forward to the next one! It was a bit too short. The beginning was confusing but straightened out quickly with a very sweet storyline
Wow!!! What a great start of a new romance series by one of my favorite authors. I absolutely loved this book. It's well written and it will suck you in and he e you begging for more.
