Cyberevolution Aftermath #2

Cyberevolution Aftermath II: Hercules HC600

Rate this book
Captain Amanda Lee isn’t certain of whether she’s been rescued or captured by the trio of massive woodsmen who come upon her after she crashes.

Unfortunately, although Amanda holds the ship until everyone can jump to safety, she doesn't manage to make it to the ground entirely intact herself. Injured, lost in the wilderness of an alien world, her chances of survival aren't good, but she isn't convinced the handsome strangers that help her can be trusted either. Especially when she discovers they aren't men at all. They're cyborgs--dangerous rogues.
When Caleb suggests that they should try to convince the woman they've rescued to accept them as mates, Kameron and Trinity think he's a fool, but once the suggestion has been made they can't dismiss it--despite the fact that Amanda seems more alarmed than thrilled by their efforts to woo her.

What a nice addition to the cyborg series!

This story features the captain of the colony ship from the first book in the Cyberevolution Aftermath series: Hercules 500. She crashes in the jungle, and gets rescued by a trio of cyborgs-in-hiding. They're, as usual, diverse: one is a soldier type, one is a pleasure type, and one is a medic. They're all adorably innocent and clueless. The heroine doesn't realise at first she's in the company of cyborgs, as this takes place way after total recall and most people believe they've all been dealt with.

What comes after is a big struggle of survival, peppered with noble actions and miscommunications, with some nice enjoyable angst as a result. Characters from the previous book have a cameo too, which afaik is pretty rare for KoC. I won't lie and say this book doesn't suffer from the exclamation point problem, or the "heroine becomes progressively more stupid over the course of the book" problem. However, it doesn't end abruptly, all heroes get adequate exposure (heh pun intended), and there are no bitchy OW. Thumbs up!

Not her best work.

I have been reading Kaitlyn O'Connor's Cyborg books for years and loved them all until the "Herc" addition to the series. The Cyborg looks like " Total Recall" or "Cyborg Nation" which is, in turn, hilarious and sad. Men, who were once thought of as machines, now have reached autonomy and are clueless about socially acceptable behavior Meeting a woman sets off a rollicking time of misconceptions, misunderstandings, and mistakes between the men and the woman they want to claim. These Herc books are missing the delightful humor that Ms. O'Connor was known for. Such a disappointment and a letdown. The author releases many, many books in a relatively short time. Is she overdoing it and is she not putting enough effort into each book? I would say yes because, in the last couple of years, a lot of her offerings have not been
what her fans have come to expect from her.

Amanda is not the character I expected to read about. She's the captain of a massive ship so I assumed she was smart, capable and strong. All we get is whiny Amanda. She is entirely dependent on the cyborgs - yes she is hurt from the crash but why is she so passive, so meak ? She only thinks about one thing, sex, and it's not even thought out: oh he kissed me after misunderstanding my signals therefore I must have sex with him.

Okay a bit better but I wonder if the author knows any men's names other than Caleb, Kameron, etc. She uses the same names in almost all her books.

There are websites now that offer baby names if she can't find a book at her local library or used bookstore. Maybe she does this so she can copy and paste love scenes from older books to new ones.

At least this time they weren't saying "Gods damn it" all the time.
