There is much to appreciate here, and some real help when it comes to challenging us to pray, albeit it is not a book without weaknesses. The writer - whomever he is - is ecumenical, though not egregiously so. Some of his interpretations of passages strain credibility. But having said that, it is a helpful book nonetheless. I really appreciate the anonymity of the writer. It frees him up to say exactly what he thinks and at the same time allows me to judge him neutrally solely on the content. More importantly though, he knows how to challenge us to pray. Sometimes, yes, it is a bit pedantic. A series of questions asking us if we really really pray can be annoying. But repeatedly he shows us the strength and potential in prayer, and calls us to reckon with how little we avail ourselves of it and how foolish that is.

I do not think I have ever read a bad book on prayer. Something about the very fact of having to write on such a subject purifies the result and edifies the reader. And while this book is not an outstanding one, it is not a bad one either.

Boring read. Most of the content could've been arranged in fewer pages which considering its a short book is really saying something. That being said there were a few good points about prayer
