Blissed-out on Big Deck Energy
Kim Loraine loves us. That is the only explanation for “Big Deck Energy” as it is just one ginormous story of happiness to make fans smile at every moment and every line!
Elles hates men. Well, in the way we all hate men; the losers who treat us like trash when they don’t get their way from strong-minded women. Of course, this means she’s bound to hate all men for eternity, until the right one shows up in her dating profile inbox. After she drunkenly yells at him like some rando. Yup, that’s how this extremely fun and hysterically hot rom com from Kim Loraine gets going and I couldn’t be happier!
Elles slowly falls for Ethan, who is just the SWOONIEST man that Kim has ever written. Seriously, every time I think she can’t top the last book boyfriend, the next ends up in my library and I fall deeper in love. He’s the epitome of the sweetheart jock that doesn’t want a woman because of how much he makes or who he is in his sport.
And oh the lines he says – Shane East delivered each one with precision aimed directly at this fangirl’s ears and heart!!! There is not enough I can say about how funny and completely whisper-filled drop dead seggsy Shane’s performance is in Big Deck Energy. You can tell he knew this was going right to his target audience & he was happy to show up BIG.
Then there’s Stella “Sex-On-A-Mic” Hunter slaying all the way through the story. I’m in utter awe of her growing talents with each book released. Anyone who doesn’t have her on their top female narrator lists is missing out.
There is just something magical about Elles and Ethan! Oh, did I say Ethan Byrne? Yes…Kim Loraine loves her Ryker Ranch fans. And if you love Kim you will buy BIG DECK ENERGY immediately!

(audiobook) It wasn’t anything exceptional, but it was pleasant. Don’t expect big life altering reflections. It was short, sweet and spicy, and sometimes, that’s all you want and need.
Elyse and Ethan’s penpal relationship was fun to follow. They started on the wrong foot–with tipsy Elyse berating Ethan after having bad experiences with men. It developped into a nice friendship, with some support and trust. Which is funny since Ethan was hiding a big part of his life, the fact that he was a pro athlete. Trust on one hand, and the impact such a relationship could have on Elyse’s career, were the main reasons it was a forbidden romance. Angst was at its minimum though. I never really believed their love was at risk, to be honest.
Their written conversations quickly evolved into phone calls, including sexy times. The attraction was already there, mostly I suppose because of their profile pictures and Ethan’s british accent, but also because of the level of intimacy they reached, even before they met for the first time. It wasn’t daring or unconventional–except for a moment or two–but the book was sexy.
So much that I had trouble believing Elyse and Ethan felt more than lust. There was a big ellipsis and we were told they talked a lot, but we didn’t read about it, so their declarations of love came out of the blue. In terms of character development, not considering the story arc–no twist here, the path to the happily ever after was a well-throdden one.
There wasn’t much besides the romance element. We don’t see a lot of hockey. Ethan and Elyse both have interactions with other characters, but mostly about their love lives. They had the best animals though–maybe as an illustration of how different they are from each other but they make it work somehow, Elyse and Ethan have respectively a cat and a dog, and the eternal enemies actually have a good relationship.
Narration was good, but not exceptional either. Both narrators are talented and do the job, but I was never surprised by their performance. Maybe it lacked a bit of heart and passion.
It was okay, no more, no less. A crunchy snack, not a three course meal. It was still honey to my ears.

**Audiobook Review**
Big Deck Energy by Kim Loraine was a fun, flirty, and steamy good time! Kim Loraine brought all the swoon with this perfectly written romance that will leave her fans falling in love with all things "big decks." I loved everything about Elles and Ethan's mistaken identity to lovers' romance! The characters, the pets, the accents, the setting, just completely captivated my attention and my heart from start to finish.
Stella Hunter and Shane East narrate this audio in duet, which I love! In my mind, these two truly embody Elles and Ethan! Stella Hunter brings so much passion and heat to her performance of Elles's personality. She is spot on in conveying her determined, desirable and hesitant sides which makes you adore her character even more. Shane East is a dream as charismatic, hockey hunk, Ethan. The way he calls Elles "love" in his delicious British accent is sure to make you blush and fall a little harder for his Ethan. This duet narration is not to be missed!
Overall, I loved this audio! If you love mistaken identity romance with a British hockey hottie (aka the Emperor of Douche Bags) , a talented interior designer, a "Meet Cupid" dating app, visits to Pike's Place Market, sitting on a big deck watching orcas swim in the ocean, hot phone seggs, lots of in person steamy time, devoted pets, hockey players with accents, and an HEA that will be sure to melt hearts and leave you swooning, then you will love Elles and Ethan's romance! I always look forward to more from Kim Loraine!

It was just a joke to her but as she starts to swipe, she sees abs and muscle with no face, and it makes her mad. BigDeckEngery is about to feel the wrath of a woman scorned and he never saw it coming.
Ethan has just relocated to the states to play hockey, he is a sweet, sexy, handsome Brit that was placed on a new dating app as part of his team's publicity program. So, when he receives an irate message, he can't help but reach out and rebuttal.

I liked the fun flirtyness of this book. It was easy to read and left me smiling when I was finished.
I don't have a whole lot to say about it just that I liked the characters and their pets.
And if you like a British accent get the audiobook cause Shane East's narration was lovely in this Duet.

Kim Loraine writes some of the sexiest men I have EVER read!! From cowboys to shifters and now, a delicious British hockey player. Be prepared to have your heart stolen by "Big Deck Energy" with his delicious body, witty comebacks and did I mention that accent??

BDE captured me from the first sentence until the last. I just adored Elles and Ethan’s story! I have come to love Kim Loraine’s cowboys and falling for her big bulky sexy British hockey player was no surprise. She writes the swooniest heroes!!
Elles has had some unpleasant experiences with men in the past. She has deemed them all to be “douchebags” and has no intention of connecting with anyone on the dating app her best friend set her up on. But, fate has other plans for her after one too many martini's and she is messaging @BigDeckEnergy not hesitating at all to tell him how she really feels about men like him.
Ethan, a sexy pro hockey player had no interest in connecting with anyone on the app either. However, he is being pressured by a social media campaign to match with someone when he is slammed with the bold and witty messages from Elles and cannot help but engage with her and responds. So begins their flirty, fun, banter via DM.
Shane East and Stella Hunter narrate this story in duet and I loved every minute of it. They bring this story alive with their animated voices, flirty text exchanges, laugh out loud banter and scorching hot chemistry. I can never get enough of Shane’s British accent but he also does a variety of other accents from his teammates that I loved as well. Stella as Elles was fantastic. Her personality is confident, feisty and sweet and she did a phenomenal job portraying her.
This is a super fun, light, heartwarming listen. It is low on angst and high on heart and heat and I highly recommend it! I am looking forward to Savage and Becca’s story next!

How much do I love Kim's books?? Let me count the ways:
1. Great stories, always!
2. Strong heroines with equally strong supporting female characters.
3. Hot as hell heroes that don’t disappoint.
4. Even though this a standalone book, there are interconnected characters.
Elles and Ethan found eachother accidentally on a dating app he's supposed to promote for his team. They develop a friendship through texts and dms, and later turns into more. There's minimal drama and the story flows nicely!
I love that they didn't just fall into bed together but developed their relationship steadily.
Shane East brings his sexy British accent as Ethan and I always swoon a bit when he gets that deep voice going!
Stella is fabulous as always and brings her sass and vulnerability to Elles' role.

This book was, gah I don’t even have the words! I loved it from beginning to end and could not stop listening. Kim Loraine brings us another flirty, feel good, swoony sports rom com featuring your newest book boyfriend, Ethan, a sexy, cocky, sweet British hockey player. Ethan and Elles have sizzling chemistry, and their witty banter will have you laughing out loud. They were super cute together and I enjoyed how their relationship developed over time from friends to lovers. Let’s not forget Ethan’s hockey player team mates who made wonderful side characters and added some charm to this already captivating story. I listened to this on audio and i never wanted it to end. Shane East & Stella Hunter narrate this story in duet style and beautifully bring the story to life. Shane’s deep and dreamy voice was the perfect casting for Ethan. He was able to showcase Ethan’s charming, flirty, and sweet personality and the different accents he used for each of the hockey player was brilliant. Stella has become a favorite voice to listen to. She was fantastic as Elles, always spot on in bringing out the sass, passions, and vulnerabilities for Elles. Overall, this audiobook is a must listen. You will fall in love with Ethan and Elles and be hooked to find out what happens next with Savage & Becca.

Shane East & Stella Hunter narrate this story in duet style and beautifully bring the story to life. Shane’s deep and dreamy voice was the perfect casting for Ethan. He was able to showcase Ethan’s charming, flirty, and sweet personality and the different accents he used for each of the hockey player was brilliant. Stella has become a favorite voice to listen to. She was fantastic as Elles, always spot on in bringing out the sass, passions, and vulnerabilities for Elles. Overall, this audiobook is a must listen. You will fall in love with Ethan and Elles and be hooked to find out what happens next with Savage & Becca.

This book had me smiling right from the dedication and authors note. Kim sure knows how to write those swoony heroes and fiesty, strong heroines and Ethan and Elles were just that. Elles has had bad luck with men and Ethan wants someone to like him for him and not his hockey career and meet on a dating app after Elles drunks texts them.

What do you do when your last relationship (in a long string of failed ones) goes down in glorious flames
Or at least until your BFF signs you up for a dating up where you strike up an unlikely friendship with the last man you'd ever thought you'd connect with, but who certainly knows how to pick a user name.
I enjoyed reading this. It was fun and cute, Ells and Ethan had great banter and it was overall a straightforward, uncomplicated book. I loved the slow development of their relationship. And the running joke about Ethan being the emperor of douche-bags.
They both had emotional baggage from past relationships gone horribly wrong that impacted how they each tackled the new, budding romance between them. And which was the big conflict of the book and what ultimately almost broke them up. In trying to protect their hearts, they placed undeserved blame and expectations on the other. They let their baggage dictate their actions instead of trusting their guts and each other.
I wish there would have been more of a conflict, though. The client/relationship thing got resolved SO FAST! I like my romance books to have a little angst to offset the love and make it that much more sweet and impactful. I feel like for a romance to be truly forbidden there have to be outside forces at play keeping the main characters apart. If one of them refuses to engage with the other because of personal reasons or preconceived notions, that's not really forbidden romance, it's just being scared to be vulnerable because of past experiences.
In any case, I still had a good time reading it, and if you have a few hours and want to laugh a little and read something chill

What a sweet story! My friend recommended me this, and I'm glad she did. This was just what I needed - a sweet but spicy, easy to read romance with some good banter. Didn't go in expecting amazing depth in the characters, and it's good that I didn't because there wasn't much. It's a fairly simple story with fairly simple characters, but it's fun, sexy and cute. I especially loved the mmc Ethan, but then again sexy Brits are my weakness.
Apparently the audiobook is amazing too, so I'll probably end up rereading this through audio, I can imagine it translated well to audiobook, and its going to be 🔥.

Having read The Baby Proposition i couldn't wait for more of the Anything For Love world! As soon as Big Deck Energy was announced it became an anticipated read of mine. I dived into it as soon as i could and got right back into this world. I really enjoyed this story!!
Elyse and Ethan's journey captured my attention and didn't let go! I really liked the way these two were brought together. I so enjoyed the banter between them. Their chemistry brought the heat and was all kinds of blushworthy. I couldn't wait to see how things would play out.

All I have to say is that Kim must REALLY love her fans because it showed in every word in this book. I loved the dedication. It made me smile so big!
Ethan is a hot British hockey player who joins the local team after a rough go of it with his last team. Elise has had bad luck with guys lately and her most recent date ends up getting her fired. She and her friend happen upon Ethan’s profile one night after having a few drinks and she sends him a scathing barrage of messages. He ends up responding and the correspondence continues between them.
I loved that Elise was not shy about what she wanted once they met. I also really enjoyed their friendship that they started via the dating app. They took their time getting to know each other, even when it gets a little spicy and that made them even closer. Ethan loved the anonymity of the app and being able to get to know her without his job getting in the way.
I think chapter 12 is probably my favorite from all the funny stuff with the movers and with Wayne towards the end.
Thank you Kim for that “good girl” line. Chapter 5 killed me dead. The first kiss....OMG. Hell, there so many great lines in this book. I have LOTS of notes.
This was absolute perfection in duet. It works especially well with the messaging back and forth. Stella and Shane have great chemistry when they work together. Always a pleasure to listen to them.

I adored the two lead characters, Elles and Ethan, they meet in the most interesting of ways. Elles has not had the best luck with men but her friend signs her up for a new dating app and she winds up sending messages to someone on that app, with the hottest of abs and the handle of “Big Deck Energy”. Ethan Bryne is a recent addition to the Seattle Cyclones Hockey Team and management asked him, as a team member, to sign-up for a new dating app for a promotional tryout. I loved this swoony sports romance and couldn’t get enough of this British hockey player (yes, I said British!) and the sassy interior designer that captures his heart. As Big Deck Energy begins, Elyse is drowning her sorrows over her jerk of an ex. In a moment of weakness, she lets her best friend sign her up on a dating app and immediately comes across Ethan’s profile. He is the brunt of all her frustrations simply because he has the nerve to look hot in his profile photo - because even that is enough to set her off. She apologizes, they begin to chat and their messages couldn’t be more flirty and fun. They take things slow but then the sparks really start to fly once they meet in person. He’s as hot as his profile picture and even swoonier in real life. Even though she’s still a bit gun shy, she can’t help falling for him, try as she might. Some things happen to throw them for a bit of a loop, but they handle it all with maturity and let love lead the way.
As always, Kim Loraine gives us such wonderful side characters (and pets, too!). Some are new and others are familiar favorites from her cowboy series. This one also ties into The Baby Proposition because the Seattle Cyclones hockey team that Ethan plays for is owned by Maverick Wilde. As much as I love Kim’s cowboys, I have a feeling that her hockey players are going to be great competition for my heart.

Could not get enough of this fun, steamy, lighthearted romance from Kim Loraine! Big Deck Energy was such an entertaining listen, and it's a pure rom-com delight!
Elles has a habit of attracting the worst men - those that don't like strong, independent women. So when he gets wrongly fired from her job, she is swearing off men. So what happens? Of course the perfect man lands right in her lap thanks to a dating app that her friends sign her up for. Now, someone should have warned her not to drink and DM in the app, because her sights land on what she is sure is a catfishing thirst-trap of a man, and she lets him have it. When she's drunk. So she holds nothing back. And this was all unsolicited - the poor man didn't even reach out to her first!
What happens is a relationship that slowly builds. Small touches in this book really brought out the humor, too. Chapter 12, people, starts with a cameo from a girl with perhaps the most gumption EVER - just a hysterical little touch that brought laughs and made this such a fun listen. The audio, narrated by Stella Hunter and Shane East, was beautiful. I loved how much Elles and Ethan laughed in this book, and you could hear the genuine laughs in the performances by Stella and Shane.

Big Deck Energy was everything I hoped for and more! This super sexy, funny, and so well written “forbidden” romance was simply perfection. The story of Elles and Ethan was fun and interesting with a supersize side of steam! One drunken night Elles friend signed her up on a dating site even though she was not looking for a relationship. The next morning she cringed and what she did in her drunken state. She slid into BDE‘s DM‘s on the dating site to tell him exactly what she thought of his douchey handle name, and claimed him “emperor of the douche bags”. ….also… those abs.. he had to be catfishing, no one look that good! BDE (a.k.a. Ethan) had responded to her, intrigued not only by defending himself from her wicked rant, but those lips on her profile pic. He was drawn to her. I love how Kim wrote the story in such a slower pace to build onto the chemistry so clearly Elles and Ethan had. Those calls and DM’s were very sexy at times! I love a forbidden lovers trope, and Ethan turning out to be a client of Elles, in turn making him off-limits was a great twist! I love seeing them navigate through all obstacles.
Stella Hunter and Shane East narrated this duet style. NO ONE ELSE but Shane could do Ethan better! The British hockey player now living in America. Shane did an amazing job portraying Ethan with all his swagger, witt, and sultry voice. I just about died every time he says he calls Elles “love”. Stella gave an amazing performance as Elles. I really loved this character! She was passionate, funny, strong, determined, and very independent! Stella gave depth to Elles, and she is most definitely one of my favorite female narrators.

She is fabulous with her creations and makes us feel like we know her characters. Duet narration with Shane East as Ethan, and his voice that is heart melting brings is all together! Ethan is confident and goes after what he wants. East knows how to voice that sound, worming his way into our hearts. Fantastic narrations for a wonderful romance. This is the way to spend the day!

They bring these unique, wonderful characters to life with a passionate & playful energy that is infectious! You can’t help but smile & swoon while listening to these two narrate BDE. Pro athlete Shane is growly and beguiling. Shane’s performance as Ethan is awesome; his character voices are spot on! Stella’s performance is endearing and sultry as Elyse. She is a total delight in this book!
