I really loved reading this book! It was such a fun easy romance that made you connect with every character. I really enjoyed how the love between Derek and Emily grew over the novel and it just happened so organically. Nothing felt rushed or forced and you get drawn into the characters and want to keep on reading and reading.
If you’re looking for a light romance with a great story then this is for you!
“The Proposal,” written by Karin M Thompson, is Christian romance with a twist. Can a young lady who is basically penniless work with a young man who is rich? Can they pull the wool over the eyes of his family, those they work with, and even each other? Emily is a young woman struggling with finances. Her previous boyfriend was a con artist who got her to co-sign for a credit card with him and when that wasn’t enough, he forged her signature on some of his documents. Then he disappeared! Emily was heartbroken and angry that she had fallen for this gentleman. As she has no legal recourse, and bill collectors calling every day, she is working two jobs in order to pay off his bills, leaving very little for her own living expenses. Derek Du Preez is the wealthy son of a business owner. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and has never had to worry about where his next meal will come from, or how he will pay his bills. Derek is next in line to be the Managing Director of the business when his dad retires, a position he has been preparing for most of his adult life. Then the board throws a new twist at him, that leaves him dismayed and perplexed. Derek and his attorney friend, come up with a proposal. All they need is a partner, someone who will go along with his terms. They can sweeten the deal with free living expenses, free clothing, free phone and of course, money. Emily appears to be the perfect candidate. Will she accept? The Proposal is a story about how two people can help each other. Emily and Derek are both fairly innocent when it comes to relationships with the opposite sex. This sweet and gentle tale uses some real-life situations and a bit of humor along the way. Other than a few kisses there is no sexuality. I would think this book would be appropriate for ages fifteen and up. One does need to be a bit gracious with the author as she is from Australia, and has slightly different spellings and phrasing than we are used to in the United States. I received this book from the author and this is my honest review of The Proposal.
The Proposal has an unusual twist for a romance which adds tension to the relationship. Sometimes, the tension is good, sometimes not so good. I actually would have liked to give 3 1/2 stars mainly because the wayward commas and question marks drove me a little nuts. I really liked the finale, though.
This was an interesting fake husband and fake wife story! Dereck must be married to inherit his fathers company! Emily has debts she owes from a fickle boyfriend! So, it looks like it works out benefitting them both! I would suggest this book to anyone perhaps, to put it on your tbr shelf!
I truly enjoyed this book. The twist and turns to a family finding love through forgiveness. Don't want to give the story away, but trust me once you start reading you find it hard to stop.
This is a clean, entertaining storyline… but it just wasn’t long enough… which is really the point. If you want to see the whole story, then you need to purchase the next episode…
I downloaded a free snippet of this book and got hooked, I then immediately bought the entire book. I love when the characters don’t always jump to wrong conclusions, but speak truthfully and direct. I think the lessons learned in this book are a good reminder to everyone, including myself.
