3.5 Stars. Not as good as book one. But still a very action packed read.

The writing is very good and the story clips right along. The two MCs remain a delightful pair and I love their interactions.

There are two things that bugged me/that I found disappointing.

1- The sex scene was fade-to-black. Maybe I am a dirty smut lover however, (and you can let me know if I am wrong) isn’t one of the big draws of paranormal werewolf romance the intense connection and amazing blow-your-mind s*x between the fated mates? The build up was there through the whole first book and to get to the big scene in book two and have it awkwardly fade to black was a massive disappointment.

2- Poor Harper is tossed in the meat grinder for most of the story. I have read a couple books that I chose not to finish reading because the author never let their hero ever be heroic because they were constantly beat to a pulp or recovering from being beat to a pulp. There is a lot of that happening in this book. We do get one scene where Harper gets to kick some ass but then promptly move to a scene where she is once again all f**ked up. I just don’t enjoy reading it. It’s hard. It makes me feel bad. Yes, absolutely have the drama and tension and worry for your injured MC, however, when your hero is CONSTANTLLY, bruised, bloodied and broken - it's is not much fun. Way more enjoyable to read about her dealing out the ass kicking and not so much on the receiving end of them.

That being said I am still looking forward to book three. Hopefully Harper gets to be massively heroic and kick all the ass.

I've been waiting so long - thankfully, not as along as others; for this sequel to come out. I'm at odds with what I think about what I've just read.

What I'm at odds with is... what happened to Logan? He was there for such a tragic end and he just disappeared? Also, in the previous book... her own mother appears to her and let's Harper know she has family in Ireland that could help her better understand herself more but she continues to risk Emerson, AJ, Grady and Cooper and the rest of the town instead with their tests?

I loved it 'cause it was nice to see the dynamic between Emerson and Harper grow. There's no denying the chemistry between our two mains. I loved the addition of Griffin and Forrest into the series. I swear, I thought Emerson was going to adopt Forrest herself but how they sorted out their identities fit even better.

I hope there isn't such a long wait between books two and three this time around, 'cause I do adore these characters... even the oddity of their choices.

Harper is entertainingly moronic regarding her relationship with Emerson. Her internal monologues and general confusion over what is happening is one of the main reasons I liked this book.
Otherwise way too much of this book was spent with Harper beaten to pulp and more and more unanswered questions appearing. I hope the next book will finally explain a lot of stuff, because right now it doesn't make much sense to me.

Too brutal

There was too much violence and brutality for my taste. I had to skip the entire middle of the dirty from their first night inn captivity to their escape. But maybe I'm just too sensitive. Love the characters and storyline. Hope it's continued with less graphic brutality.

lesbian werewolf fun

So far really enjoyed that series. Sometimes the comments and sarcasm will be a bit much but for the most part I’m using and I enjoy Harper’s personality. This one was difficult because Harper Was forced to transform and it was excruciatingly painful. The first novel in the series she was also severely injured and those she can heal as a werewolf I like less the thought of her caring so many scars. Also where was the human/werewolf lesbian sex! And I mean we’re wolf in human form! She did a great job of building up their traction and romance and the Alpha bond but didn’t give us anything else. Even a little bit would have been better. Instead we built our way up to this and then and then it’s the next morning and you’re not even sure what happened until one of the other werewolf says he can smell that the two characters mated. That was a holy unsatisfying. So maybe we could pick that up just a tad but otherwise loads of fun!

Between the first two books, I will admit the second one I liked so much more, but the first book is necessary to set up for the second book. I’m very curious to learn more about the world and then the characters backgrounds. The only issue I have is whenever you’re dealing with werewolves I think it’s perfectly reasonable for certain characters to die and I don’t really like forced pacifism.

My favorite scene was the one with the deer, the tub, and everything after it made me laugh quite a few times. But this story also greatly deep in the relationship between our two main characters in serious way as well.

Made me laugh out loud like the first book but it was definitely way off in left field versus book one. The chaos wrapped up a little too quickly in some areas and the ending left me wanting more but in a grumpy way. Hopefully the wait for the next book isn’t too long.

Also just going to assume that Emerson wasn’t able to save Harper’s Mom’s ring or sita knot? I don’t recall them being mentioned after she bid them under her shirt in an old takeout bag.

Lots of snark

This series begins as a snark exhibition. Then a love story riddled with snark. Suddenly everything shoots off in another direction. I am bitchy there is no book 3 yet.

Did not live up to the first book. The only good thing about this book is the underground fighting. The new characters introduced were not interesting.

FINALLY

I’ve been waiting 6 years for this sequel! I read Pure of Heart back in 2016 and had pretty much given up hope for the sequel. But here we are. 6 years later and I could not be happier! Great sequel. Definitely wasn’t expecting the path it took. But I was pleasantly surprised. Can’t wait for the next one. Just hope it doesn’t take another 6 years! 😂
