Discover and harness the magic of cannabis and get wicked high, in this first-of-its-kind guide to weed in witchcraft.
Cannabis and magic are woven together throughout history, and there has never been a better time to embrace your inner weed witch. In this comprehensive guide and spellbook, practicing witch and cannabis writer Sophie Saint Thomas explores the beautiful relationship between the two, offering everything you need to use marijuana in all its forms to awaken your inner magic, enhance your practice, care for your body and soul, and reach your highest self.
Weed Witch explores the foundations of witchcraft and a complete cannabis rundown so everyone from beginners to experts on both subjects can blend them safely for optimal harmony. In these pages, you'll learn to use weed to magnify and augment your relationship with astrology, tarot, crystals, moon magic, and much more. The book also contains an exhaustive compendium of stoned spells for love and sex, money and work, protection and healing, and of course, fun.
It was okay. It had some interesting information relating to weed and witchcraft but I feel like it was mainly focused on sex and there’s way more you can do than just use weed for sex. I also feel like it’s super specific to the author because as a heavy marijuana smoker/user I feel like I use weed for so many other purposes. A lot of other smokers I spoke to also said they don’t use weed for arousal so it was odd to me how sex was mentioned in almost every chapter. I’d understand if the title was “Witchcraft and Weed, a guide to using weed for sex magic” or something like that but considering it’s supposed to be an overall guide, it’s a bit much.
I don’t get why the author wouldn’t go heavy into the medicinal benefits of marijuana and it came off very basic. I’m sure beginner or baby witches will benefit from this guide but as someone who has been into the craft for over 15 years I didn’t get anything new from this.
One other issue I had with this is when the author writes about reggae stating that “if you don’t know what reggae is it’s probably because you’re white.” To make such a bold statement when you don’t even know your readers, especially one that has to do with race. I’m white and I love reggae, it’s actually one of my favorite genres. Most stoners I know or have come across at festivals etc also love and know reggae too. Music taste has nothing to do with race. You may grow up listening to certain music because of your culture/family etc but just because someone is white doesn’t mean they are ignorant to a specific genre. It leans a little bit on trying too hard to impress social Justice warriors. Also for someone to write that but go and mention Bob Marley it seems almost comical. Bob Marley is well known by everyone and he’s not the only reggae artist. Seems like the author may not know much about reggae music herself but says that statement..
Very basic info, surface level that doesn’t dive deep.
I thought this book would bring me more as a witch who uses weed in my craft but unfortunately I ended up wasting a credit on audible.
Disappointing. Feels like it was written by someone who doesn't know much about either subject and, dude, listing yourself in references five times gives off serious RFK Jr it's-true-coz-I-said-it-is energy.
If you are, as I am, an experienced witch and weed enthusiast, you can skip the first 90 pages or so, which is essentially a 101 on weed, witchcraft, tarot, crystals, etc., which is why I am only giving it 3 stars. Once you get past that section and into the specific spells, there is some good information (or ideas) to be found here. To me the main upside of this book was how to incorporate weed (and sex) into more of my witchcraft practices and spell work. The author talks more about sex magic and personal power than in a lot of the books I have reviewed so far, and I appreciate her judgement-free but take-care-of-yourself-out-there attitude.
I was pretty disappointed in this book. Even as a beginner witch, it felt very cheesy - like it was written for a high school girl who just smoked her first joint, while listening to Fleetwood Mac, and has now made it her entire personality. I mostly picked up this book for the spells, and they are pretty questionable themselves - one spell is literally just instructions to clean your pipe using isopropyl alcohol. Unfortunately, this read left a lot to be desired.
I really enjoyed learning about how weed and witchcraft go together. However, I got a little bored once I saw the rest of the book was spells. It’s good to know but I didn’t want ALL spells.
When i picked this up at the library, I expected it to be a generally cringy book with some good ideas I could pull from: I was wrong. It's much better.
It covers a good chunk of basics of both weed and witchcraft and delves into problems and inequalities in the weed world. The spells are fun, easily tailored to one's needs, and budget friendly. Good stuff.
This book really covers everything and is good for beginner witches and stoners alike. I thought it was a book about plants when I grabbed it from the library then realized I was wrong when I looked at the cover. It’s fun and useful. Offers another perspective.
I think this is a wonderfully down to earth guide and insightful read. It’s like learning from a fun auntie. Written with a balance of humor, advice, and advice on how to incorporate MJ into your practice. I recommend if this is your thing.
Great fun reading this book. Excellent info on both magic and cannabis. Sophie Saint Thomas is excellent about making sure the book is inclusive to genders and racially sensitive as well. Would read more by the author, in fact I aim to!
Overall a great intro to combining weed with witchcraft, something I've been interested in for a while. Some bits are a bit clunky and a little cringey at times but overall it's one I'd recommend.
As far as witchcraft goes, pretty basic stuff. I enjoyed the cannabis element and even learned a thing or two about incorporating it into daily practice. It was a quick fun, easy read.
