Would you like to be a prayerful person? You can be.If you’re anything like me, you may struggle with how to pray or to pray more effectively. This struggle explains my first reason for writing The Book On An Invitation to an Awakening. I want to share with you what has helped me grow more prayerful. Through this book, you can see your prayer life transform from good, or even broken, to something beautiful. My second reason for writing this book is found in the last part of the title. I want to invite you to an Awakening—a healing touch of Heaven for a sick world. We desperately need God to reveal Himself and we are confident He will do what He has done in the respond to the prayers of His people. Come join us in seeking God’s Face.Prayer does not have to be complicated or tedious. What streams are to a desert, prayer is to our thirsty souls. When we pray, we absorb God’s Life and share this with those around us. Within this book are 21 daily devotions designed to encourage you to become a person of prayer. This is a systematic way for you to grow in prayer. If we can awaken to prayer, God can awaken our land. Join us.
This book was a selection for our church to read as a prayer group. I began reading it on a kindle, but a kind lady in our church gifted me with a hard copy. I've just finished the kindle version, and I plan to immediately begin the hard copy, and to hopefully highlight SO many things that resonated in my spirit. This book will set you ablaze for prayer.
The world can’t have too many books on prayer. It’s simply too important of a subject and prayer is too necessary for a successful spiritual life. This book hits all the right points in a very capable way. I have been blessed by Ken Gurley’s ministry many times over in my life and so I find it difficult to find much fault.
That being said, this book doesn’t have any new insight. It doesn’t have any new or fresh revelation, and it lacks a powerful call to prayer that I couldn’t resist. That may not be fair to the book or the author. I agreed with everything he said, and I try to have a vibrant prayer life. I could always pray more. Nobody is in jeopardy of praying too much, and nobody I know that loves prayer and sees it’s value, would claim to pray enough.
So if I consider myself a person of diligent, committed, and passionate prayer, why did I not feel an overwhelming need to pray while reading the book? I believe that is because I agree with the author and I already try hard to implement the teachings he was laying out. In short, it simply wasn’t new.
I think it’s an excellent, EXCELLENT book to give to new converts and to some old seasoned saints that maybe struggle with prayer. I think that even for myself, if I find myself straying away from prayer then I would be wise to revisit this book and let it jumpstart my devotion again. But as it is, I don’t feel a need to jumpstart my prayer life today so it doesn’t hit as hard. We need reminding regularly even if it’s not needed at that moment. You never know when it will be needed and the more you remind yourself the very likely chance that you will go longer without needing the jumpstart!
I found this book deeply impactful in its call to prayer. We often treat prayer as an after thought, of something we don’t have time for. Prayer changes things. It impacts nations. It changes lives. It draws us closer to our savior. I took the time to slowly go through this book and glean what it has. It’s one I hope to read frequently to recharge my prayer life.
Anything written by Ken Gurley is insightful and beneficial. This book has definitely had an impact on my life and has led to an evolution in my prayer life! If you desire a deeper understanding of prayer, this book is a must-read.
GREAT book - heart stirring and extremely insightful - my relationship with GOD will be vastly improved because of what Key Gurley teaches us on the ever so important subject of prayer.
One of the most convicting and transformative books on prayer I have ever read. We need more prayer and more passionate prayer in out lives and churches today than ever before
The very best book on prayer I have ever read. I have it in paper, ebook and audible versions. I’m currently listening to to and may also begin to re-read soon.
I love this book so much, I listened to it on Audible. Started March 6, 2021 and finished on August 28, 2021. Will probably listen to it again and again….
