Zero stars!! Just AWFUL! So far fetched and how the police and the other characters didn't realise what was going on I'll never know. The horrendous grammar, repeated words, spelling mistakes and text layout made this a really difficult read!! Very sloppy writing with a clear lack of proof reading. Don't waste your time.

“Ellen” is a modern day atmospheric psychological thriller. We first meet Ellen as the put-upon drudge who does her mother’s bidding, albeit unwillingly. Her resentment increases until she finds a chilling way to free herself all the while developing a desperate delusional crush on one of their new tenants, Steven Finn. Steven, a handsome taxi driver thinks he has found the perfect place to settle, a large sprawling house in south west London. The first male tenant in a long time, his good looks and easy charm set off a devastating chain of events in which Ellen pursues him at any cost. A one-woman wrecking ball, Ellen ensures that no one will stand between her and her all-consuming love for Steven, she mercilessly dispatches her rivals as the action takes us from the leafy city to the wilds of Wales as she abducts the one person that means the most to Steven. Can he get to him before it is too late?

This book turned out better than I expected. It starts character dev early on giving the reader an inside look at Ellen and her weird ways. The action starts pretty fast. What I thought was a main character was killed off pretty quick. Then I wondered where the story would go. The author did a fine job of creating several integral and entertaining plot lines. The ending got a bit dragged out, but I say that often about horror novels, so that's a me thing. My major complaint with the story was the language barrier. I'm in the USA but do read many UK based stories. This book, Ellen, had many phrases that were lost on me. Usually that doesn't bother me when it's dialogue, but it wasn't only in dialogue. Nothing pulls me out of a story more than having to put it down to Google another country's slang. Still, overall, a decent story

A great concept about a deranged woman named Ellen who sees things from a 'slightly different' perspective than most!
Steven is a very interesting character and as his life starts to fall apart, his resolve is well and truly tested!!
The story has a chilling undercurrent with a few nasty and grisly scenes in there, which took me by surprise!
If you love slow-burn psychological thrillers, this should be straight on your TBR list.

This read was so hard to get through. The writing was very stiff, unrealistic and just bad in my opinion. The plot was all over the place and the characters were so not welcoming to become a part of the story. I struggled so much.

Wow this was dark and a real page turner. It centres around Ellen's manic and deranged character and how her life impacts on others after her mother's death. It covers her childhood and life into adulthood. This book had definite traces of Stephen King's Misery. I wouldn't want to watch it in movie form. Don't read before bed! And beware the cliffhanger...
