Prevalent Notion #1

Faultless Notion

Rate this book
A new steamy romance about the drummer in the world's hottest rock band, and the passionate woman he finds himself married to.

They didn’t mean to get married.

Eloise Dunning ran far from her small town in the pacific northwest to Los Angeles with little more than the clothes on her back and a dream of being a singer-songwriter. Now she is a personal assistant to the rock band, Prevalent Notion, and leaving her songbook in the bottom of her bag.

Keller Grant is everything a rock star should be. Sinfully attractive, an enigmatic artist with a dark past, and an immensely talented drummer. He loves the revolving door of women in each city, creating music with his bandmates in Prevalent Notion, and teasing an uptight Eloise.

The night before the band kicks off their American Tour, Eloise and Keller wake up in each other's arms with wedding bands on their fingers. Forced by the record label to maintain the marriage for the public, they face a hungry press, rabid fans, and jealousy from all sides.

As they try to get the world to believe in the facade, they find that maybe this marriage doesn’t feel like a performance.

For fans of music, bungee jumping, spicy moments behind closed doors, and heartfelt moments on the wings of the stage. Here is your new favorite rock star romance.

Faultless Notion is a full-length contemporary standalone romance. It is book one in the Prevalent Notion Series.

Not only the story was told in 3rd person - not my favourite, but also it was confusing most of the times because I couldn’t realise from the beginning of the paragraphs if the pov was Keller’s or Eloise’s.
I liked Keller, but Eloise’s infatuation with Theo was tiring after a certain point.
I don’t know if I will continue with this series...🤷🏻‍♀️

delicious rockstar romance

Faultless Notion was one of the books that helped me out of my recent reading slump and for that reason, and many more, I need you all to read this!

Eloise is an assistant to Prevalent Notion, the big it-band that’s taking the music industry by storm. She basically does it all for them (and I mean all) with little thanks. After a drunken night in Vegas, she ends up accidentally married to Keller, the hot playboy drummer, who she’s never really been all that fond of. The premise had so much potential and March delivered deliciously.

Eloise is a lovable and relatable heroine and Keller is so damn dreamy. I love a man who has depth and Keller had it in spades.

The side characters were interesting and well-rounded, too, which is a great thing because not only do we have more in the series to look forward to, but a prequel featuring Eloise’s friend is coming too.

I really loved this read and I’m so excited for more.

Eloise had been infatuated with Theo since she was eighteen years old. He’s the lead singer of the band and one day he asked her to work with his band as an assistant and so she did. Now that he’s in love with a famous model, she sees her hopes and dreams die where he’s concern, so she and Keller go drinking in Vegas. What can possibly go wrong there, well you can guess. What I never saw coming in this book is how Eloise had been taken advantage of by the manager. I loved how Keller defended her. I love their chemistry and when they kissed my toes curled. These two have had a painful upbringing, they share so much. Eloise knows she’s in love with Keller but does he love her, will he believe that she no longer has feelings for Theo? I hope if there’s a next book for this group, Theo isn’t such a clueless turd. This book has the most romantic ending and I love a spectacular happy ending. I’m giving this book five stars and highly recommend it.

2.5 stars. This was a cute story but I had a hard getting used to the writing. So many typos, over usage of names, and inconsistencies in information. If this had more thorough beta readers, it could have been much better.

What an impressive debut by Linnea March!

I stayed up way past my bedtime to read this, and I have zero regrets.

Keller is one hot drummer, and I related to Eloise on so many levels. The chemistry between these two unsuspecting lovers was smoking hot! I loved their banter and the slow burn build up between them kicked the angst up to the perfect level of anticipation.

I was rooting for them, even as they battled their insecurities. My favorite part was the way they brought out the best in each other. She calmed and comforted his wild spirit, and he supported her dreams, opening her eyes to what she is capable of on her own. Talk about power couple goals!

I can’t wait to read more about the other fascinating characters in the series!

I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving my review.

➸ Keller was an extremely likable MMC. I loved how he was completely committed to his accidental marriage from the start.

➸ Eloise was a difficult pill to swallow at the start. How is it that Theo avoided her censure in spite of his blatant toxic behavior, yet Keller was immediately judged to be just as untrustworthy as the guys from her past? She managed to win me over a bit towards the end of the book once she realized she wanted her marriage to Keller to be real.

➸ The romance was mostly okay, but I struggled with the fact that Keller basically fell for Eloise in a single day (later it’s said that he had had a crush on her since he first met her, but the story up to that point didn’t support this in my opinion); along the same line, it’s revealed towards the end that Eloise was the one who proposed to Keller, telling him “you are it for me” when at the time she was still hung up on Theo.

➸ Another round of editing wouldn’t be remiss. There were a lot of sentences that didn’t make sense, and oftentimes contradicted themselves (Ex., “While Keller slept around, she didn’t think he wouldn’t mention it if she asked him to stay quiet. He was a man whore, not vindictive.”) The third person point of view was often confused, (Ex., ”He could remember kissing her in a small alcove off the strip. The way her body felt against hers as his tongue tasted the salt of her throat.”) There was also incorrect tense use, along with other grammatical errors. Lastly, there were some formatting issues.

Keller and Eloise

Keller is every bit the hot rock star drummer who has a revolving door of women from every city. Eloise is the wanna be singer/song writer who puts that aside for now and becomes Prevalent Notion’s personal assistant. Talk about tough jobs…wrangling rock stars to be to appointments on time and chasing women from their beds in order to do so.

Keller had a thing for picking on Eloise but that just revved up their chemistry even more. When these two wake up in Vegas with rings on their fingers that have to keep up the charade…until maybe its not a charade anymore.

I'm a sucker for a rockstar romance! I've been following along Linnea's writing journey and I have been anxiously waiting for this to come out, and let me say, I was NOT disappointed!

There was angst. There was an enemies to lovers element. There was SO. MUCH. CHEMISTRY!

Eloise is a perfectly imperfect heroine, and one my heart was drawn to from the get go. Keller is the bad boy drummer who is a little too cavalier with the women. After a drunken night which leads to them getting hitched, Keller and Eloise navigate this new "marriage" with all sorts of media scrutiny, friction from the rest of the band, and not to mention, heat from the big wigs from the label.

This was a slow burn, but one that didn't drag. I loved that they pushed each other to be the best versions of themselves. I loved that Keller pushed Eloise to fight for her dreams. I love that Eloise could be Keller's "person," one he could turn to without fear of judgement.

I absolutely cannot wait for the rest of the series!

I found this book on booksprout and received an ARC. My original review is below but I wanted to add that the author messaged me through booksprout and said she had it edited and proofed so I’m amending my star review to 5 stars. I absolutely CAN NOT WAIT for more from this author. I don’t reread many books but I’m confident I will reread this one.

I really struggled on the rating for this one. This is March’s first book so I’m going more lenient than I would with an established author (this is her first published book). First, and most importantly, March knows how to plot and write a book. I couldn’t put it down. Normally, when I read a book that has so many editing and proofreading errors, I give up. And this book was full of those errors. March needs a good editor and proofreader. If she gets those, combined with her obvious out of this world talent, she is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Plot/writing (no spoilers): I can’t say enough good things. There’s so much to unpack (but that would get into spoilers so I won’t). I will say this though, it was a well thought out story. It is a love story that grew naturally and organically. Nobody was a doormat. The characters and their reactions seemed genuine and real - not a plot device to move the story along.

Editing and proofreading: the POV switches within chapters. I actually enjoyed that. However, sometimes it wasn’t clear whose perspective it was or it seemed like both of their perspectives were included which was hard to follow. There were also issues with him verses her (example, she grabbed her head when it should have been his head).

With all of that taken into account, it’s one of the best rockstar romances that I’ve read. Ever. And I read a lot of them. I can’t wait to read the next one and fully expect that over time, March will become one of my favorite/go to authors.

I almost forgot, the “fun” scenes are smokin hot but not over the top.

I received an ARC for my honest opinion.

🎸 Faultless Notion 🎸
🎸By @linnea_writes

🎸A DEBUT, classic enemies-to-lovers, steaming 🔥 romance novel by a local Seattle-area author! This one is all about a rock band on tour (and some super sexy dressing room scenes). Even rockstars, notorious for one-night stands, can fall in love 💖 …can’t they?

🎸Eloise is a personal assistant to the rock band, Prevalent Notion. She originally left her small PNW hometown for LA to chase her dreams of becoming a singer-songwriter. She is Type A to the max, organized, reliable, and responsible. She has seen it all with the boys of Prevalent Notion. Eloise is frequently annoyed by their antics.

🎸Keller Grant is a smoking hot rockstar/drummer (side note: 🥁🔥 - good with their hands, good with a beat - amirite 😉) in Prevelant Notion that basks in the attention of women at every city they go through. He loves to poke fun at Eloise, because she’s so easy to get riled up with her all business personality.

🎸The band is about to start touring, and after a bit of celebration, Keller and Eloise wake up in bed together. 😳 And, if that wasn’t bad enough, Eloise quickly finds out, they also got married. What happens in Vegas…unless you’re involved with a touring band and the label wants to spin it to save face.

🎸The big question, is this all a performance or is there something else there?

🎸Big huge congrats to the author for pulling this one off. I did find a few typos, but honestly it didn’t take away from the amazing writing and character depth. Also, debut, give a little grace y’all! Icing on the cake: two more books scheduled to publish THIS YEAR. (1) Reckless Liar: Ana and Zander’s story! Coming Summer ‘22 and (2) Prevalent Notion Book 2: Isla and Nathan’s story!

🎸I loved: body image discussions, kickass independent female characters, and hints of my hometown (Eloise’s hometown) IYKYK 🍩

OVERALL RATING –5 stars
RECOMMENDED FOR: those that like rock star, sort of friends to lovers, accidental marriage with a HEA

First my usual points:
- I do not do spoilers unless warned.
- Read the summary above; it will tell you what the book is about. I will not reiterate.
- This is a standalone but is the start of a series
- No errors that I caught as far as editing.
- The author was new to me.

BOOK:
- Contemporary romance
- 1st person alternating POV
Chapter titles!

Star Ratings - 1 (poor) - 5(READ THIS BOOK)
· Writing Quality: 5 stars
· Story ingredient: 5 stars
· Ease of reading/Pace: 5 stars;
· Plot strength: 5 stars
· Steam Level: 5 stars - open door scenes that are steamy but it's a slow steam to the boiling point

Notes/Opinion (personal):
It's been a long time since a first publication caught my attention to the point of neglecting many other things. But this book did it. Well-rounded characters that are not perfect and have their own issues. But they can see their issues and not shy away from them for long. Keller is a man who knows what he wants and knows when the time is right to get it. Eloise was the responsible girl who loved deeply but had that love used against her at times. They complimented each other beautifully. With humor and heart sprinkled throughout, I devoured this story and now sit anxiously awaiting the next. Well Done!

1. Badly needed editing. Wrong words, missing words, improper punctuation. The sentence fragments drove me crazy! Eg.
“Those menial tasks a relief.”
“The way his fingers had brushed against her skin, the anticipation of a kiss that never came.” “While she was used to the way a concert was done at a typical venue.”
“Her cheeks pink from the searing kiss Keller gave her.”
2. Keller constantly telling Eloise what to say when they were having $ex drove me crazy!
“Say you need me.”
“Say you want me.”
“Tell me to f*ck you.”
“Tell me this feels good.”
“Tell me you need this.”
3. Eloise was unbelievably spineless. She put up with Theo using her, stringing her along and treating her like $hit for years and did absolutely nothing when Arnie and Theo stole her music and gave her no credit or compensation.
4. The only reason that Keller didn’t cheat with those two groupies was because Eloise was at the house when he got home.
5. I was really unhappy with the way that the conflict was resolved. Eloise had been such a good friend to Theo, and after the vindictive way that he treated her, she agreed to go have coffee with him.
I didn’t like how quickly and easily Eloise forgave Keller for his lack of trust, his refusal to talk to her and his willingness to give up on their marriage. And, the fact that he hooked up with two groupies and brought them home to f*ck was just ignored. Everyone forgave everyone else and everything was just grand.

I really enjoyed this read. The characters were very well fleshed out, and the world building was great. I really felt the chemistry between the MMC and the FMC, and it was easy to follow. I really like that the bad boy MMC was the one to fall first and all the little things he would do that just made ya swoon and root for him. I also like the character development that both MCs went through in this book. There was also some well placed spice throughout the book even though they dont do the full deed till the last 1/4 of the book.

The one major con I had with this book was all the grammatical errors. There were several places where the words were repeated within the same sentence, or there were periods in the middle of a sentence or a lack of periods or commas in places where they were needed. Sentences just ran or and I would have to re-read it to understand it better. Or a couple of mixups in names. It was a bit distracting from an overall good story. I would still recommend it, though.

Decent plot, interesting characters, slow burn romance, strong chemistry between Keller and Lou, moving original song lyrics… I enjoyed this book… and yet, this was offset by how there were so many errors!

It was like reading an uncorrected draft: she instead of he (mismatched in the same sentence), consolidation instead of consolation, but instead of put, coach instead of couch, etc.; broken and disordered sentences; duplicate words; missing words; the list goes on. Roughly every third page had an error. A professional proofreader (even just the first editor) should have picked these up - there were so many errors and they were so obvious! Arrghh!!

I’m curious though to see what happens to the other two members of the band, Theo and Nathan, when they fall, and trying to decide if it’s worth the pain to my brain if the editing and proofreading is at the same low standard. Wish me luck!

I really enjoyed this book a lot. Keller and Eloise have known each other and worked together for years, but Eloise has never really noticed Keller or taken the time to get to know him. Eloise has harbored unrequited feelings for the band's front man and Keller has watched from the sidelines. Somehow after an afternoon of day drinking and a night of partying they wake up to find they are married. During the course of their PR image marriage, feelings become real and lines become blurred. There's some interesting twists and turns in the story and it kept my interest the whole time. I didn't want to put it down! This was a great read and I enjoyed getting to know the characters in this world and I'm looking forward to more in the series for these bandmates.

I love their love!!

Keller, the hot playboy drummer of the rock band Faultless Notion, marries their PA, Eloise, one drunken night in Vegas.

The record label forces them to stay together for publicity for at least the duration of their tour that’s just started.

These two had known each other for years and I loved loved loved watching Keller and Eloise navigate this new relationship and while putting on a show to make their love look real, they fell in love with one another right away.

I was absolutely giddy reading their story and there were so many swoon worthy moments. I loved Keller so much and the way he defended her and helped her grow, was there and supported any decisions she made and uplifted her and helped her make her own dreams come true after years of supporting his band.

It was so romantic and while it wasn’t always rainbows and butterflies, there was growth for both lovebirds and a little groveling after the third act breakup and the writing style had me swept away it was hard to put down!

Eloise was the one who handled everything for the band members, including saving them from their groupies. So no one expected her to be the one to be part of a possible scandal, one including Keller and their drunken Vegas marriage. But in stead of having it taken care of they were made to play the roles of newly weds, a role who, surprisingly, was not so difficult to play. This is a story of two people with past hurts and insecurities, who found unexpected kinship in each other. A story of learning to trust someone enough to let yourself be vulnerable. I loved the characters and the writing style, a page turner for sure.

This is my absolute favourite genre rockstars, bands etc and this is Eloise’s and Keller’s story. Eloise works as an assistant for the band Prevalent Notion she’s seen everything with these guys so it’s no surprise to see them naked, Eloise has a crush on Theo the bands lead singer but Theo didn’t feel the same way and it hurt Eloise so that night Keller takes Eloise out they got drunk and they woke up in bed together but I will let you find out the rest for yourself and this is one hell of a story. I loved this story and the characters and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Eloise has the hardest job in the world, babysitting rockstars. Made harder by the fact that she loves the lead singer.
Keller is a musician with too much talent and a big heart.
So when the lead singer announces that he is in love and in turn breaks Eloise's heart Keller is there to lend a hand and baby sit her for a change. But unlike Eloise, Keller is a terrible babysitter and the one night of fun changes everything.

I enjoyed this book and I'm keen for the rest of the series

I like Eloise's work ethic. She has a very difficult job keeping the rock band organized. This means kicking out the groupies from the guy's hotel rooms so they can shower and get to radio interviews.

Theo is dreamy and the lead singer. Keller and Nathan are also in the band.

Eloise has been taken advantage of by Arnie, the band's agent. I feel bad for Eloise many times thorough the book.

The story seems far fetched in so many ways but I put it to a fantasy more than real and got over it.

Good debut offering. I hope to read many more of authors books.

It was okay. I just hated the way Eloise allowed everyone to walk all over her. She is the personal assistant to the band, Prevalent Notion. Apparently that means ignorant, invisible doormat!
Eloise is suppose to get them on stage, book hotel rooms, meals and interviews. But cleaning up liquor bottles, lingerie, and ejecting naked and abrasive groupies should not be part of her job description.
However, to allow people to steal your songs and speak to you with such utter disrespect was a deal breaker for me!

3.5⭐️ rounded up

I loved this story and definitely need more from these rock stars! Keller and Lou are adorable love their HEA.

There were quite a few typos in my KU copy and I don't knowbif it was across the board or if it was a KU problem. I don't normally care about typos and grammar but some of them threw my flow off. There were also some inconsistencies. For example Eloise always wore dresses and there were more than a few times about taking off her shirt?? But that has nothing to do with how lovely the plot was and I can't wait to read more!

It takes a verry special author writing a phenomenal book, to make me rush to Amazon to go look for more. What a book! Both characters have suffered so much in their past, but they are beautifully written. Eloise with her pink hair and crush on the lead singer meet Keller Grant broken drummer, cinnamon hero and my new book boyfriend. This story got all my feels going. I was crying, mad at the injustices, cringing at the cliches and rejoicing at the love. Awesome book! Awesome characters! Awesome story! Give me more.

The story is told in third person, there’s tons of typos, and the usage of names was extreme and I just couldn’t continue reading.

It read like this: (not a direct quote, but basically the same)
Eloise stood there. Keller leaned forward and pushed a strand of Eloise’s hair behind Eloise’s ear. Eloise sucked in a breath as Keller smirked and started leaning into Eloise.

Yeah. It’s pretty obnoxious…

Idk if the story was good because I stopped reading when I got really annoyed and decided to stop wasting my time by moving to another book.

Beautiful rockstar romance. Started off as a drunken Vegas marriage, which I had my doubts on, but I was glad to be proven so very wrong. I loved seeing the relationship grow between these two cautious main characters.
The author’s writing style really appeals to me. I appreciate time taken to develop plot points , the word choice, and the music lyrics.
Also, the groveling was a nice touch.
After reading this book, I plan to continue the series and the rest of the author’s works.

Yes, yes, yes!

I was hooked at the opening line, and stayed up past my bedtime each night hungry for more with each turn of the page. Eloise and Keller are an unlikely duo, yet their willingness to turn toward one another leaves you leaning in for more and I can’t stop rooting for them! Plus - yowza, I love the spice 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶!!! Linnea March is a born storyteller and I can’t wait for her next book!

I loved this book and could not put it down. I do enjoy a good rock-star romance but many of them are the same story over and over. This one was a bit different and did not disappoint. Keller and Eloise are two broken and lost souls who find healing and acceptance in each other. It wouldn't be much of a story if there weren't some challenges but in the end they find their HEA. Very well written with a strong story line. Looking forward to read what comes next from Linnea March.

The Drummer and The Band Assistant #DrunkenLasVegasweddingtruelove

Linnea March’s bookFaultless Notion:A Rockstar Romance was a wonderful read! The characters became real as their life on tour unfolded. I would love to read more of her books and look forward to her next book coming out later in 2022. I am so glad I found another rockstar author with quality writing for new books to buy and read! Absolutely enthralling read!

I found two negatives to this debut book. It is in dual 3rd person POV and swaps with no clear identification. The other is that Eloise didn't have enough self worth, which seemed at odds for the role she held. The plot, aside from an accidental Vegas wedding, is a nice twist on the genre. I'm looking forward to Islas book.
