Space Force... and Beyond

Rate this book
Read, if you will, of the glorious expansion of the Military Industrial Complex into the endless depths of space.
Stories of good guys with guns climbing out of the gravity well to secure the final frontier for America.
These are the epic stories of the men and women (mostly men of course) defending Earth (the American parts) from gay aliens, shiny probes, space invaders, and of course Neptunian Elephants.

Some bias: I have my first short story published in this book.

Like all anthologies, there are stories I like and stories that don't work for me. Poems that are fun, stories that make me laugh out loud. Dirty Laundry by Tim McDaniel made me laugh out loud. Kurt Newton's Space Force: The Musical made me stop and think as well as chuckle. Many of these stories are going to fade as we become more removed from that disastrous presidency.

Publishing can take a long time, especially in a pandemic, and most of these stories were written before 2020 (I submitted mine in April 2019). The editing process at the end was rushed and so there are some printing typos scattered throughout. I still give this four stars because of the idea and effort and variety of works.

An amazing lineup of authors and stories and since one of the stories is mine, I'm going to be a bit biased in my review and rating. This anthology immediately caught my attention when the call went out to submit stories for it. I didn't think I had a shot, but after an initial rejection, my story was accepted. After being put through the ringer of editing it came out to be much improved and I'm very happy with the final product and with Space Force... and Beyond. Give my story and all the other amazing stories in this anthology a read and let me know what you think!
