Theo has spent his entire life serving the Royal Wills Family in Serill as a head beta butler in a world where omegas are believed to be extinct and alphas are extremely rare. As such, he is tasked with accompanying a princess to the Damiscian Kingdom to be married off to its alpha king. However, what starts out as a simple escort mission quickly turns into something more complicated as the king takes a sudden interest in Theo instead.
The king orders the butler not to return to Serill and Theo finds himself trapped in the Damiscian Kingdom, completely stripped of his Head Butler title. Instead, he is forced to begin life all over again as a low-ranking personal servant to the princess, who is eventually appointed as a royal mistress instead of a queen. How will Theo adjust to this new life and what will he do when he is finally cornered by the king, who insists that Theo is actually an omega?
A lot of telling, little showing. The POV switches from one paragraph to the next. Theo is referred to as "the butler" or "the servant" for most of the book, as opposed to just "Theo".
The disclaimer that descriptions were purposely vague made me scratch my head after having Theo described as dark haired, being small and delicate, having warm, honey brown eyes and a youthful appearance. The Alpha is also described in detail, including being at least 1.5 feet taller than Theo... and then I got to the sex scenes, where the huge difference in proportions is just completely ignored... and considered this is marketed as "size difference", you would think there would be more focus on that size difference, and hot have the groins of two men 18" different in height align. Or have them both being chest deep in the same tub, while Theo sits on his lap and his head on the alpha's shoulder.
And calling cum "sweet omega juice" and "white substance" is just an odd choice.
My first ABO book/novella. Interesting concept, not sure though as it continues male/female stereotypes, just with m/m dom/sub subject matter. Still erotic, though.
