Someone is kidnapping magical children, and it’s up to two people to save them before it’s too late.
Jesi Osman worked as a lawyer until she inherited her great-grandmother’s witch power. Now she knows the history of everyone she touches. When two children go missing from her coven, it is up to Jesi to find them. If only she could control her new magic.
Detective Chuck Massey is in charge of the missing children’s case, with no leads, and no help. He knows the families are lying to him about something, and it might just be what he needs to crack the case. When a strange woman crosses his path, he is convinced he found his lead suspect. One he cannot get out of his head.
Two worlds collide in this thrilling new novel full of secrets, magic, and a romance that will leave you wanting more.
Lucille Yates writes paranormal romance and urban fantasy stories. They feature strong women, complicated men, and sizzling chemistry.
Lucille enjoys writing the stories that are constantly playing like a movie in her head. She is excited that others will now enjoy them as much as she does.
When she is not writing, she is reading, playing with her six-year-old son, watching videos, or playing games. She lives outside of Savannah, GA with her husband, son, and four cats.
The book was great. Jesi always thought that she was lucky not to have any witch powers. But, when her Great Grandmother passes away, Jesi suddenly is thrust into the world of magic. She inherits the magic of touch. Jesi was a corporate lawyer at a well known firm until then. For the last year, since her Great Grandmothers passing, she has been struggling to come to terms with the power. Jesi has been helping in her cousins magic shop for her cousin, Maggie, to help her with magic. She finds out about the abduction of two witch children and is asked to talk to the police to keep the families knowing what is being done. When she meets one of the detectives, Chuck Massey, she cannot see any of his past. Chuck, Jesi, and Maggie start working together to find out what happened to the children and things heat up for Chuck and Jesi. There is a lot of suspense, action, magic, and the unknown in this book.
I really enjoyed this book magic, wolves, demons, soulmates what more could you want??
You can't help but fall hopelessly in love with the two MCs Jesi and Chuck. They are lovely individuals who are the perfect complement for each other they are soul mates but they are also so real. Their story is utterly believable because they constantly second guess themselves and their worthiness, it makes them totally relatable.
Lucille has created some amazingly rounded characters not just the Mcs but also the other key players in Maggie, Emma, Hayley, who I hope we find out more of in following books.
This book is a great read that really picks up pace towards the end with a well deserved HEA
I am so excited that I got to read this book!!! Lucille did a fantastic job in creating this world of the supernatural and magic.
Our main character in this story works with the local police, together they work with others to solve the crime of kidnapping children in the supernatural community.
I could say more but then I don't want to give anything away. I know you will enjoy this story as much as I did. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I found this book to be a fun and easy read, exactly what I needed. Ms. Yates jumps right into this supernatural story and readers learn about the enticing characters as the story unfolds. The characters were quite relatable, and I enjoyed learning more about their relationships.
When the book ended I was left wanting to spend more time with Jesi and Chuck, as well as Maggie and Emma. I’m hoping they make an appearance in Book 2.
I absolutely loved the characters in this book. I want them to be my friends ♥️
Jesi and Chuck were so cute together!
The magic system - I am very fond of books about witches and covens. I like when magic isn’t exclusive to full witches or members of a certain bloodline. It opens up so many possibilities when anyone can do magic with a little effort.
Side characters - I was very happy when I got to the end of the book and the synopsis for book 2 was there because I just kept thinking “I want more from the Wolves”. Yay, the Wolves. I loved Emma and wanted more of her and Maggie.
I felt like the story was too short. Partly because I just devoured it, I couldn’t put it down, and also because it was on the shorter side. I would have loved a bit more information on the characters pasts. Chuck and Jesi especially. They didn’t really go into a lot of the ‘getting to know you’ in their relationship. With the sequel being centred around Hayley and Paulo, I think this may be a lost opportunity.
The only thing I would suggest for the format of the book is I did find myself getting a little confused with whose perspective we were reading from. I think it would benefit from the name of the characters being used as a chapter break. Even if it was just their initials (J + C).
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I could have gone straight into the sequel and binged right to the end! I would definitely recommend this book.

Well the first review didn’t post with this so here I go again. I received this book as a ARC, with that I am going to leave a honest review. I will start by saying that I am very happy to be able to read an authors first publication. This process start to finish I know can be a emotional roller coaster. So thank you for allowing me to be one of your first ARC reviewers.
That all being said let’s dig in. Overall I enjoyed this book. I liked Jesi and Chuck. I will come out and say that I need at least 2 more books with them alone as the main characters. In this first book there is a lot of ground to cover. (Which is to be expected when you start a new series, you can’t go to long and loose your readers interest, or to short to annoy and confuse the reader) I personally feel that as she adds more books to the series that the flow of the book will become more comfortable.
This book does hit the ground running. I’m sure she has addressed the first chapter. The only problem I had was it felt stilted when the main character meets up with her best friend Maggie at the magic shop.
The only thing I will admit is I figured out quickly who the big bad was. But that’s just how I am with a lot of books or movies. 🤷🏻♀️
So congratulations on your first book! I am excited to meet the rest of the world and characters you plan to introduce!
How to describe this book? Witches, werewolves and nasty magic pretty much describes it all.
Our heroine here is (refreshingly) a POC who honestly doesn't really know what she's doing most of the time. It's really nice to see a character who just went "meh, I'm not going to bother to learn this" and gets caught out when she does need to use that knowledge. Thrown together whilst trying to solve a kidnapping case Detective Chuck Massey and Jesi must help each other solve the case before anyone else goes missing.
I really enjoyed this book, but the main issue I had was that Chuck didn't struggle as much as I thought he would when finding out about the supernatural community. The characters gelled well together and the chemistry was magical.
All in all, I found this a really nice take on magic and crime. It would have been nice to see a little of the villains history though.
I highly recommend this book for those who love witchcraft and romance.
Get comfy, grab a cup of tea or coffee, and just read.
I am so excited that I got to read this book! First of all, I can't believe this is Lucille's first book. The story is amazing, complex, and leaves the readers wanting more.
This book has the perfect mix between romance, paranormal, magic, just everything.
I’m now in that post-phenomenal book state of: what am I supposed to do with my life now?
I hope you guys enjoy this book as much as I did.
I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

A short and cute story. Magical children are missing and Jesi, who is a lawyer, can tell everyone's past by just touching them. She goes to the police and the detective she talks to has nothing. She discusses with her friend Maggi who states that most likely he is her complement. That rises questions because he does not believe in magic. How can they work together? Chuck's father explains that magic does exist. But that is a lot for Chuck to swallow. Humor and fun reading.
This is the first time I have read anything by this author. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this book. The characters are realistic and relatable. The story moves at a fast pace. It was very interesting and I couldn't put it down. I would recommend this story to anyone who likes witches and werewolf stories as much as I do.

Witch's Complement is such a great book! The author introduces the characters with style and the plot is immediately engaging. The different perspectives throughout the novel make for fast paced but informative story telling. If you like mysteries and action with romance - this one is for you!
Fair warning - you will want to read the entire series after you finish this book, so be prepared! :D
Magical mystery. I loved the development of all of the characters, especially the way the main characters interacted. They both struggled with accepting that they needed each other, as they worked the kidnapping case. I can not wait to read the next book to see what happens next. I highly recommend this book.

This book is captivating and has me in love with the concept of a compliment! Such a good easy read that draws you in. It’s just the right amount of pull at you heart strings. I would highly recommend it. And cannot wait to read the next one when it comes out.
Love this book so much I own it in eBook and in paperback. A reluctant witch, a romantic plot and a good mystery and intrigue. Combining magic and romance is done pretty often, but using a supernatural bond to stop crime is pretty awesome.
I enjoyed this book and thought it was a good read for this time of year. There was a little mystery, a little romance, and some witch craft. I liked the main characters and thought they all had a good story. I guessed who the villain was pretty early on but stilled enjoyed reading the book.
I really enjoyed reading this, it was what I was hoping for in the genre. It was a great start to the A Bite of Magic series. Lucille Yates has a great writing style and I wanted to continue reading this.

This was a great start to a new series. The character work and story line were well written and kept me coming back for more. I can't wait to see where this series will take us.

This was a really good story. I love how it progressed and I am excited for the next book in the series. I love paranormal romances with fated partners. It was not an insta-love situation.
I loved this story so much. It was interesting to see how the main female character does not push her potential soulmate into being with her or even apart of the supernatural community. I liked that once the rest of the coven found out who he was they accepted him. And the sex scene was fire. Great story can't wait for the next one in the series.
