'Yesterday, today and for the rest of our lives'
Words cannot describe how happy I am that book 3 was better than book 2! 🥳😻 Whereas book 2 was more talking and planning and strategizing, book 3 was all about action. Things moved with lightning speed, so much so when stuff from book 1 or book 2 was mentioned (like her peanut allergy or her high school enemies) it was like a blast from a long-forgotten past. Although for me it was only yesterday and the day before 😅
I LOVED that we got more information about Madeline, her past, her motivations, her character. Everything started with her, so I'm glad her existence wasn't swept under the rug (like it was in book 2). Without getting into much spoilers, I would like for her to have been actually mentioned in the epilogue or receive some tribute, so I was sad about that part a bit 🤷🏼♀️😬
Generally, it feels like this book knew what it needs to be more than book 2, that's why it reeds more strong and entertaining. The couple came into their potential, loving and supporting each other equally (loved the scenes where Ryan had some personal grief and Maddie was there to have his back) and not one-sided, what is often the case in romance novels; these guys found the perfect balance between love and lust in this book 💕🔥
Despite the fact that in the first 20 chapters or so the hero and the heroine are separated and have zero interactions with each other (due to events in the last cliffhanger), those chapters were entertaining and actually interesting to read 🤯😂🙌 I think after talk-filled book 2, where the couple mostly f#cked, having them regain their agency was like a breath of fresh air.
The plot was still angsty and overly dramatic AF, but it focused more on personal grudges and motivations, which I highly appreciated. The human trafficking aspect was hidden somewhere in the background, which made the book more believable for me. I still think it was a mistake to choose this route instead of a simple, good old "cruel parents are willing to do anything to get more money, even control and abuse their children" 💀😅
I'm intrigued if the author will be writing more books in this universe, since there is a possibility of Ash/Tyler, Linc/Joss and of course Bex/Court. The latter took up a lot of page time with their history and drama, sharing one hot scene this book, but at the end of the day, their angst got a little bit tiresome and repetitive near the end, especially because of Bex, so I was pleasantly surprised by her absence in the last couple of chapters *don't hate me* 😅🙃😬
The epilogue was..weak, not gonna lie 🤣🥱 We know nothing about the couple's future, where Maddie decided to go to college (which was a HUGE part of her character in book 1), didn't get to see them married, if they chose to have kids...the epilogue only takes us 3 weeks into the future, where ALL of them (Maddie, Ryan, Ash, Linc, Court and Corinne) live together INDEFINITELY, which to me doesn't sound like the best way to start a family life. Especially since BOTH Maddie and Ryan express some frustration with this living situation IN THE EPILOGUE! 🤦♀️
I'm still very happy to have stumbled upon these books and had the best time reading them! ❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🙌🙌🙌👑👑👑
