For lack of better words, this is one of the better problematic BL manga I have read. I should like to start by saying that this was my second manga by Aiba Kyoko and I liked it much more than the first; the art is much more refined and I really enjoyed it. And unlike the previous one, this is a oneshot rather than a collection of short stories which leaves more room for the plot and characters to develop.
At its core, this is the story of two friends with very much opposite personalities who both actually feel more than friendship for the other, yet neither knows how to express it for fear of ruining their friendship. I think it's a pretty common and simple plot, but I really enjoyed how it's told; the first two chapters are the exact same scenes only shown from the different main character's perspective. Given Haru and Hikaru's very different personalities, it was really interesting seeing the same situation through different eyes. The remaining chapters follow both characters, but I thought it made for a very interesting and unique start to a story.
The first chapter is told from Haru's point of view, and the problematic aspects of this story definitely lie with him. He is a silent and brooding type and he definitely tries to manipulate Haru. He tries to set scenes that will make Haru feel guilty and jealous and he does so successfully. While I don't think this behaviour is ok, to an extent, I do also think that it's human nature to act out like that - he doesn't seem to know how to express himself differently and I think it's fair to say he comes to see that his behaviour is wrong. Unlike many other BL manga of this nature, he doesn't otherwise force anything on Haru.
While Hikaru is the one who is being borderline gaslighted, he actually also has his share of issues. He might not act upon them as Haru does, once we get to his point of view, we do also see some of his thoughts around how he manipulates people. He is someone who appears friendly to all because he is scared of the idea of being left alone or disliked. He behaves in a certain way to make others, especially Haru, take note of him and he seems pretty aware of it. I think this just brings me back to what I said earlier - whether ok or not, some of this is simply human behaviour.
Despite all, I do think that the plot is borderline problematic, albeit realistic. I enjoyed seeing two sides of the story and the art was beautiful. Although it's almost to be expected, there are quite a few graphic scenes which I personally could have done without, but it's relatively tame compared to other manga rated 18+.

Sono indecisa 🤔, bei disegni, una storia ben studiata per quanto riguarda la psicologia ma tutta l'accuratezza con cui è stata tratta la parte psicologica dei personaggi sembra andare oc verso il finale. Non riesco a valutare bene in quanto c'è poco approfondimento dei loro trascorsi per poter dire che è davvero un errore.
Peccato, perché poteva diventare una serie davvero conturbante ma avrebbe sicuramente richiesto più spazio per sviluppare la storia.

Entré a este manga con la idea de que sería muy tóxico y no podría haber estado más equivocado ¡FUE TODO LO CONTRARIO! al final terminé vomitando arcoíris. Amé a los personajes. Aunque me fuera gustado tener un poco más de ellos, fue un manga muy corto.

Das hat sich schneller entwickelt als ich erwartet hatte haha. Freunde, die zusammen wohnen und dann eine (sexuelle) Beziehung eingehen. Beide haben dieselben Verlangen, wenn es zum jeweils anderen kommt, deshalb kam mir die Manipulation des einen Protagonisten nicht zu schlimm vor, obwohl es schon eher hinterhältig war. Ich hätte mir mehr "vorher" gewünscht oder mehr "danach", aber grundsätzlich ganz gut.

So, Story haben wir schonmal gar nicht :D und dann haben die beiden noch ein riesiges Kommunikationsproblem, weil beide offenbar echt dumm sind *snort*. Dazu fängt das im ersten Kapitel auch noch übelst Red-Flag-Obsessiv an, wo vermutlich sehr viele schon direkt aufhören. Aber witzigerweise ist der Uke eigentlich genauso besessen und dier eden so utlra aneinander vorbei, dass es schon wieder witzig ist.
Der Seme überlegt sich in seiner super Obsession, wie er den seinen Fruend dazu kriegt, nur noch ihn zu sehen und so, weil der Uke ihn ja doch nicht liebt. Und der Uke ist nur die ganze Zeit, ich will das mein Fruend nur MICH sieht - also ja :D beide sind obsessiv und können offenbar nicht miteinander reden.
Es ist daher von der Sicht ganz witzig, aber sonst passiert nichts super aufregendes. Der Sex ist auch jetzt nicht besonders aufregend, aber immerhin unzensiert, so yeah. Und schön gezeichnet isses auch - ich mag den Trope emotionslos aussehender Seme x sehr happy, expressiver Uke. Das funzt hier sehr gut.

Sandkastenfreunde, die sich ineinander verlieben: Absolut nichts Neues, kann aber ganz süß sein, wenn man es richtig umsetzt. Das war hier leider nicht der Fall. Während der Plot so einige Wünsche offen lässt, kann zumindest der Zeichenstil ordentlich punkten, der ist nämlich eine richtige Augenweide und trifft genau meinen Geschmack. Handlungstechnisch überzeugt der Manga allerdings nicht, denn im Prinzip geht es auch hier wieder nur um S*x und die plötzliche Liebe zwischen den Protagonisten wirkt einfach nur überstürzt und dadurch wenig glaubhaft. Ein bisschen weniger Tempo und etwas mehr Tiefe hätten der Geschichte gut getan.

Ok, sono ufficialmente perplessa. Forse c'è bisogno di una rilettura, perché non sono sicura di aver ben capito, né tantomeno di aver apprezzato, lo sviluppo di questa storia.
Allora, qui c'è sicuramente qualche problema di comunicazione. Haru e Hikaru sono amici fin dai tempi dell'infanzia e, ora che frequentano l'università, convivono (condividendo pure il letto per risparmiare sul mobilio, stima per la faccia di bronzo di Haru); ciascuno dei due vuole diventare la persona più importante per l'altro. E fin qui, tutto bene. Il problema è che i due usano degli strani mezzi per raggiungere questo scopo - gelosia, manipolazione, desiderio di possesso. Haru cerca di far ingelosire l'amico, facendogli credere di avere degli intrallazzi in giro con delle ragazze in modo da spingerlo a fare un ulteriore passo nella loro relazione, soprattutto a livello fisico. Hikaru, dal canto suo, è innamorato dell'amico e sotto sotto non disdegna certi sviluppi, il punto è capire che tipo di strada potrebbe prendere il loro rapporto, visto che ormai ha superato i confini della semplice amicizia. Sono amanti? Compagni di letto? (senza contare che il lato fisico non sembra soddisfare entrambi allo stesso modo). Fondamentalmente, entrambi vogliono diventare l'interesse esclusivo dell'altro. Probabilmente, la paura del rifiuto e del distacco li spinge a prendere una strada un po' contorta. A deragliare, come suggerisce il titolo. Soprattutto Haru, che ha un non ben precisato piano per far innamorare l'amico. Peccato che le persone siano imprevedibili e che le emozioni non possano essere pilotate a piacimento.
A spezzare l'equilibrio sarà la confessione di Hikaru, che porterà entrambi, dopo un momento di angst, a fare i conti con i loro sentimenti in maniera sincera e aperta, dando così la svolta desiderata alla loro relazione. Tutto è bene quel che finisce bene.
Allora, come volume unico non mi è dispiaciuto, però ne ho letti di migliori. Magari mi concederò una rilettura però, ora come ora, non ho molto apprezzato il modo in cui Haru e Hikaru gestiscono questa relazione. In alcuni punti, ho pensato che fosse un rapporto un tantino tossico e poco sano. Diciamo che, una bella conversazione non fa mai male.
Consigliato agli amanti del genere (occhio che le scene esplicite non mancano).

Mi piacciono i volumi singoli: mi permettono di leggere una storia che si conclude subito senza trascinarsi. Eppure in Italia arrivano solo volumi singoli di genere yaoi. Tutti gli shojo carini e senza impegno non vanno bene?
Lui è un manipolatore che cerca di diventare la persone più importante di Lui^2. Lui^2 ha poca personalità e sembra volere delle cose ma non è ben chiaro cosa voglia. Senza contare che i due non comunicano tra di loro e le situazioni si trascinano per diverse pagine.

Derail è un manga con una struttura non usuale per il genere. Solitamente vediamo il punto di vista di uno dei protagonisti, con il secondo approfondito nella seconda metà del volume (o nei successivi se si tratta di una serie). Quindi iniziando la lettura conosciamo Haru, taciturno e silenzioso, che abita insieme al suo amico delle medie Hikaru. Lui è bravo ragazzo, allegro e spensierato che attira la simpatia di tutti, ma Haru lo vuole tutto per se. Il suo piano è di farlo cadere per lui, spingendolo ad andare a letto con Haru stesso e a dipendere da lui. Povero Hikaru viene da dire. Ma basta un solo capitolo per capire che non è proprio così.
Dopo un primo capitolo che segue Haru, tocca a Hikaru raccontare la sua versione della storia. Anche lui è ossessionato da Haru, e nonostante l’affetto delle altre persone vuole sopratutto Haru, che deve ritenere Hikaru il numero uno. E quando Haru finge di essere andato a letto con altre persone per vendicare l’aver portato a casa una compagna di università per un pomeriggio di studio, Hikaru ha dei dubbi su come comportarsi. Ora deve farsi perdonare. Forse usando il suo corpo, ma non può tralasciare i suoi sentimenti che esprime anche a parole ma che sembrano lasciare indifferente o quasi Haru. Come far evolvere il loro rapporto?
Come dicevo prima, la struttura di Derail è originale e inaspettata per come introduce subito i due protagonisti. L’inizio inoltre fa presagire una storia dai tratti un po’ creepy, con il desiderio di Haru di fare suo Hikaru. Scoprendo però che anche l’altro pur rimanendo solare e sincero fa dei trucchetti per tenere l’altro vicino, capiamo che la storia può essere interessante e intrigante. Entrambi provano sentimenti per il loro inquilino e però non fanno la cosa forse più facile: parlare e dichiararsi. Lo faranno infine, facendo soffrire prima loro stessi oltre che il lettore.
Ognuno invece di comunicare cerca di immaginare i pensieri e i sentimenti dell’altro, non riuscendo neanche a realizzare che potrebbe provare dei sentimenti simili. La realizzazione giunge concludendo la storia forse in maniera un po’ veloce, ma comunque soddisfacente con Hikaru e Haru felici del loro amore. I disegni della sensei Aiba sono meravigliosi, con una forte concentrazione sul carattere diverso dei personaggi: Hikaru solare e allegro ed espressivo anche senza volerlo, Haru più freddo e che non si capisce cosa stia pensando ma è anche ciò che lo rende assolutamente affascinante.
La parte grafica di Derail è ineccepibile e aggiunge valore ad una storia alla fine classica, ma che appunto riesce a conquistare il lettore che segue le vicende di Haru e Hikaru e spera di vederli non deragliare ma andare dritti insieme, mano nella mano. Innamorati.

Als ich sah, dass Kyoko Aiba einen neuen Manga herausbringt, war ich gleich Feuer und Flamme. Ich mag nämlich ihre „Kamisama Darling“ Reihe sehr. Ich hatte daher gleich die Special Edition vorbestellt. Bei der ist ein Bonusheft enthalten, was allerdings bei 160 Seiten auch einfach in den Manga gepasst hätte und daher meiner Meinung nach nur Geldschneiderei ist. Nicht mal eine Farbseite ist da drin. Naja, meine Euphorie über den Manga verflog, weil ich mehrere schlechte Meinungen dazu gehört/gelesen hatte. Auch auf Goodreads hat das ganze eine sehr mittelmäßige Bewertung. Dementsprechend zweifelnd ging ich dann an die Sache ran.
Doch schnell merkte ich, dass ich hier mal wieder ganz anderer Meinung bin als viele andere. Zum einen war ich gleich wieder voll begeistert von dem Zeichenstil. Die Charaktere sehen zwar denen aus Kamisama Darling sehr, sehr ähnlich aber das stört mich nicht. Ich liebe diese Art zu zeichnen. Die Mimik und Gestik ist ausdrucksstark und so süß. Die erotischen Szenen fand ich heiß, sie waren unzensiert und packten mich auch emotional.
Die Geschichte an sich war auch sehr emotional und beide Charaktere berührten mich mit ihren Schwierigkeiten sich zu Öffnen und unterschiedlichen Charakteren. Haru war mir erst sogar etwas unsympathisch durch seine düsteren Gedanken. Da hat es die Mangaka irgendwie übertrieben und ein anderes Bild von ihm gezeichnet, als sie es schlussendlich zeigte. Nach und nach erfährt man dann warum Haru so, fast psychotisch, denkt und agiert. Hikaru ist einfach nur süß und man fühlt so sehr mit ihm mit. Die Gefühle kamen voll bei mir an. Harus Wunsch Hikaru für sich zu haben und Hikarus Wunsch die Nummer eins für Haru zu sein. Ich fand das alles mega süß und habe es sehr genossen. Es war ein Highlight für mich.

Haru es un chico que no habla mucho y que solo tiene un amigo, del que está enamorado. Este amigo es Hikaru que, al contrario que Haru, se lleva bien con todo el mundo.
Una noche, Hikaru lleva a una chica a casa a estudiar solamente, pero Haru decide poner en marcha un plan para manipularle digo seducirle. Finge que él también ha llevado a una chica a casa pero para follar con ella y le pone nervioso en la cama (comparten cama para ahorrar), hasta que le dice que si quiere que le toque como a ella. Hikaru se deja porque lo desea, y a partir de seguir así se da cuenta de que está enamorado. Haru continúa con su plan, pero le confunde que Hikaru ya parezca enamorado porque aún no ha terminado con los pasos. Esto provoca que tengan un momento confuso al final en el que Hikaru sale corriendo porque le dice a Haru que le quiere y este no es capaz de contestar. Pero luego le busca y se lo dice, y viven felices para siempre.
Primera mala decisión: los nombres. No me pongas nombres tan iguales que no me entero de cuál es cuál.
Segunda mala decisión: cortarme la primera escena de sexo.
En general ha sido una historia bonita y a pesar de lo corto que ha sido he conocido y entendido muy bien a los personajes, por lo que estaban muy bien construidos. El dibujo es precioso y Hikaru también 😍 Me lo he pasado bien pero no creo que se convierta en uno de mis favs.
Haru es un chico que no habla mucho y que solo tiene un amigo, del que está enamorado. Este amigo es Hikaru que, al contrario que Haru, se lleva bien con todo el mundo.
Una noche, Hikaru lleva a una chica a casa a estudiar solamente, pero Haru decide poner en marcha un plan para manipularle digo seducirle. Finge que él también ha llevado a una chica a casa pero para follar con ella y le pone nervioso en la cama (comparten cama para ahorrar), hasta que le dice que si quiere que le toque como a ella. Hikaru se deja porque lo desea, y a partir de seguir así se da cuenta de que está enamorado. Haru continúa con su plan, pero le confunde que Hikaru ya parezca enamorado porque aún no ha terminado con los pasos. Esto provoca que tengan un momento confuso al final en el que Hikaru sale corriendo porque le dice a Haru que le quiere y este no es capaz de contestar. Pero luego le busca y se lo dice, y viven felices para siempre.
Primera mala decisión: los nombres. No me pongas nombres tan iguales que no me entero de cuál es cuál.
Segunda mala decisión: cortarme la primera escena de sexo.
En general ha sido una historia bonita y a pesar de lo corto que ha sido he conocido y entendido muy bien a los personajes, por lo que estaban muy bien construidos. El dibujo es precioso y Hikaru también 😍 Me lo he pasado bien pero no creo que se convierta en uno de mis favs.

J'ai hésité entre 2 et 3 étoiles.
Je m'explique : J'ai pas vraiment aimé le début.
Voir le côté très manipulateur de Haru et son côté très analytique, prêt à tous pour arriver a ses fins qui est que Hikaru tombé amoureux de lui était très intense au point de ne pas apprécier le personnage. Le personnage de Haru est si bien décrit comme un personnage difficile à comprendre... Qu'il est vraiment difficile à le comprendre même en sachant ses pensées. Ensuite, il y a Hikaru qui a perçu immédiatement le regard et son attirance d'Haru sur lui qu'il en tombe déjà amoureux. Mais, un grand manque de communication est présent pratiquement tout le manga. Le jeu de manipulation est clairement inutile puisque les deux ont un amour réciproque mais ne communiquent jamais. Mais se même jeux de manipulation rend Hikaru dans tout ses états, ça en devient parfois presque triste pour lui, tellement il est confu à travers tout ça. Je crois que la fin sauve tout le manga. Elle termine se bien, même que c'est adorable! C'est ce qui m'a fait changer d'idée sur ce titre.

A childhood friends-to-lovers featuring aggressive pining and a boatload of misunderstandings and miscommunication? This is the story I’ve been looking for all along!
I have to commend Haru for his… creativity. And the way these two pine for each other is night and day! We have a mix of bait-and-hook approach between someone who's more dominant than the other. I have no complaints. The payoff was great!
I loved Derail, but your mileage may vary if you’re not a fan of its tropes. It’s heavy on miscommunication and misunderstandings, adding to the drama before things simmer down. The aggressive pining and childhood friends-to-lovers trope makes this one rather specific.

Ho preso il volume ammaliata dagli sguardi intensi del moro (Haru, il bel ragazzo in copertina) dopo aver visto alcune tavole e la trama era nelle mie corde. Fin da subito mi ha spiazzata perché mi aspettavo una storia con uno sviluppo più graduale prima di arrivare a "certi momenti", invece parte subito in quinta con l'hottitudine. Anzi, i momenti hot sono proprio quelli su cui si articola la storia, conditi poi dalle varie macchinazioni mentali di Haru che Light Yagami scansati proprio (xD) e le pare mentali di Hikaru. Il problema è che la caratterizzazione dei personaggi è praticamente inesistente, le motivazioni dei loro comportamenti sembrano davvero superficiali e talvolta incomprensibili. Alla fine si ha un senso di vacuità, superficialità. Anche la componente hot molto presente in realtà poteva essere sviluppata meglio verso la fine, soprattutto dal punto di vista romantico. Anche l'extra risulta abbastanza insulso. Nel complesso però mi ha intrattenuto e divertito, forse proprio perché la storia sembrava così campata in aria.

The story is strengthened by having two perspectives on the same event, and the reader gains insight into the complexities of their relationship as a result. This back-and-forth of ideas and feelings enriches the story and kept me interested.
The story was entertaining, but it felt like it was missing something to make the most of the storyline. I wanted there to be some sort of culmination of tension, like Haru being on the edge of a precipice or something.

Classico Boy's Love senza troppe pretese.
Haru e Hikaru sono amici d'infanzia, ma questo sembra non bastare a nessuno dei due. Vogliono essere indispensabili l'uno per l'altro, diventare la persona più importante all'interno delle rispettive vite. E per farlo ognuno dei due agisce in maniera diversa: Haru cerca di seguire un piano a tappe che però non riesce a gestire come vorrebbe, spiazzato dal modo accondiscendente con cui Hikaru si lascia andare fino a sconvolgere il loro equilibrio di amicizia.
Per essere un volume unico, non mi lamento per come è stata delineata la trama. Ho letto altri manga del genere e diciamo che questo segue perfettamente il classico schema di Boy's Love in cui i protagonisti passano dall'essere amici ad essere altro.

Codependent childhood friends and roommates whose relationship suddenly changes after one of them brings a girl home for homework. The broody one gets jealous, tries to gaslight the social butterfly into falling for him and is rather confused, when it all works a little too well.
It's a little unhealthy and while the story certainly glosses over that fact a bit, at least it does get acknowledged to a certain degree and not fully romanticised like in other BL stories. Personally, I really enjoyed that it was a little fucked up, especially since both characters have a manipulative streak. Also, the art is really gorgeous.

Je n'ai rien à dire concernant le dessin de ce manga qui est tout ce que j'aime. L'histoire a eu une appréciation différente de ma part.
J'ai un peu tiqué par la façon très maladroite d'agir de Haru envers Hikaru, dont il est secrètement amoureux. J'avais peur qu'une relation malsaine s'installe tout du long.
Heureusement, ce n'est pas trop le cas quand on passe du point de vue de Hikaru. On comprend petit à petit où va nous mener cette relation.
Il y a un fond de réflexion parsemé de non-dits plutôt intéressant, rendant les personnages et leur romance attachante. Après, je ne l'ai pas trouvé très transcendant, assez classique et oubliable.

même si on est très clairement sur un scénario déjà vu , vu et revu le manga a su se démarquer par ses 2 premiers chapitres ùu on a la vision de Haru dans le chapitre 1 et dans le chapitre 2 on revit les mêmes scènes mais cette fois avec la vision de Hikaru. J’ai aimé la façon dont haru se comporte, comment il réagit face à cette trahison de son meilleur ami et cette sorte de détresse dans cette situation et ne plus rien contrôler de son comportement envers ce dernier et c’est ce qui fait sa force par rapport aux autres manga du même thème.

Es un BL corto que no muestra más allá de esta relación. Que por cierto es muy pero muy obsesiva y poco sana. Quizá si se hubiera tratado de otra forma como ellos tienen miedo a ser rechazados el uno por el otro.
Me gustó el dibujo pero la trama super floja y problemática.
