SHOVED DOWN THE STAIRS BY A GHOST?

Calvin "Hawk" Richardson doesn't believe in love, and he sure as hell doesn't believe in ghosts. But when his on/off fling, Delia, lands in the hospital with a concussion she claims a spirit pushed her. Sure, he knew she dabbled in the paranormal as a hobby, but now that she's taken up temporary residence in Kodiak Gorge as the historic downtown's official ghost hunter, he plans on keeping his distance.

Delia Addams might have come to Kodiak Gorge for her work in helping people with troublesome spirits, but nothing could be more terrifying than when an ER doctor informs her she's pregnant--with Hawk's baby! At the perilous rate she's going, will she live long enough to tell the only man she's ever loved that he's going to be a father?

This quote from Hero's ex is EXACTLY how I thought of this whole thing!

“Seriously? I swear, you’re the biggest man-child who ever existed. Since it seems I have to spell this out for you, the only reason Delia didn’t tell you right away is because you told her you never want more kids. She’s been terrified of your reaction and waiting for the right opportunity to tell you, but I guess it never came.”

He treats heroine like a piece of crap & worships the OW because she's his Baby Momma, but he doesn't want a kid with heroine? They have an on/off fling for years and he gives zero s**t about her, allows his kid to be rude to her and goes to his ex/OW for comfort & advice and this is supposed to be a romance?

He glared while she smiled. “What about this situation is remotely funny?”

“Everything. You should be with Delia celebrating. Instead, you’re whining like you’re the baby. What’s the real problem, Hawk? Talk to me. Let me help.”

He sat hard on the chair across from her, pressing the heels of his hands against his forehead. “I can’t lose anybody else.”

“What are you talking about?”

“The reason I don’t want more kids, or a wife, is because like my mom and you and God-forbid maybe one day, McKynley, I couldn’t bear losing any one of you.”

“Explain how you lost me? And McKynley certainly isn’t going anywhere till she’s old enough for college.”

“I lost you to Tanner. And either of you could die.”

“That’s awfully dark. And newsflash, you didn’t propose to me out of love, but your warped sense of honor. Where’s your honor towards Delia and your new child?”

“Truthfully?” His chest tightened, but his shoulders sagged. “The thought of letting her go is easier than possibly losing her to death or her leaving me. I can’t handle any more loss, Jen. I can’t—especially, not Dee.”

“Then tell her. And for goodness sakes, call your commanding officer and tell him you made a mistake in wanting to reenlist. You’ve got family here and we all need you.”

Hawk’s throat tightened and eyes stung. “You’re right. As soon as Delia’s back in town, I’ll tell her I’m staying and we’re getting married and having this baby. McKynley can earn college money by babysitting.”

Love is scary

When you have loved someone for years but they're afraid to commit you have decisions to make. Do you walk away or do you stay and keep hoping eventually they'll open their heart? That's Delilah decision when Hawk says he might reenlist.
