3.5 rounded up because I just had fun reading this.
The story is a take on the usual reborn-as-a-villainess tale - an unnamed South Korean woman dies en route to one of her many part-time jobs only to discover that she's been reincarnated as the villainess of the web novel she was reading - and the last thing she knew, the book hadn't even been completed. That means that as far as she knows, she's doomed to die in a year unless she starts changing things fast. So, like any reasonable young woman in a similar situation, she does: she breaks up with her jerk boyfriend (because now she knows he's a jerk) and determines that she's never going to marry or get anywhere near the prince whom, she believes, kills her...and maybe she'll try to forge a better relationship with her cold-hearted father while she's at it.
Only...it turns out that not only is her dad not actually cold-hearted (more like really bad at expressing emotion), he's as doting a father as he can be in their culture, and the prince isn't so much evil as emotionally repressed. I haven't seen so many miscommunications or misunderstandings since The Comedy of Errors, and to add to it, both of the men in the book are spectacularly bad at actually talking to people, leaving poor Jubelian to form plenty of wrong ideas. The translation has some missing articles (usually "a") and the book just kind of stops rather than coming to a natural ending, similarly to the previous offering from this publisher that I read (I Refuse To Be a Supporting Character: Vol. 1), but it's different enough from the Japanese light novels and a good enough story that if you're a fan of reincarnated villaness tales, I'd recommend it.
Despite the “sounds like a taboo naughty book title” issue, this book is solid and isn’t gross. I really hope the MC h finds happiness and finds out that her father really does love her, even though he can’t show it. Boo cliffhanger, yay second book is out so I can start it immediately! 5 stars.

This is a re-read. I read this under the translators' website before and I'm glad it's now under KU. It's probably one of the isekai stories that I thoroughly enjoy because it's fun! All the misunderstandings just pile up, it's so amusing to me! I love Jubelia so much.
I’m excited to write this review. I really appreciate WordExcerpt efforts to make this possible. ❤️
Counting down the days to finally have it in my hands! This volume covers until chapter 5, so be mindful that this isn’t the whole novel (although chapters are long ;) ).
So, because this is a transmigration story, let’s start with the heroine. Don't be surprised that there aren't many details about her since her past is no longer important. It is said that the protagonist was an ordinary college girl with no luck with jobs but still had plenty of part-time of them gaining lots of experience, meaning Strong and smart thank you. She was a fan of reading novels in her spare time, a normal girl lol sadly, she was hit by a car on her way to work and died only to wake up as Jubelian, the villainess of a novel she'd read.
In the novel, Jubelian, a noble girl with a very lonely childhood that only sought her father's attention. Duke Floyen was the empire's hero, and based on Jubelian words, he practically ignored her until her death. Because Jubelian was lonely and eager for love, she fell hard for Mikhail, the ML of the novel that consoled her when she was crying due to her father's absence on her debut day, and well, her life, to the point of being obsessed with him. After 3 years of a relationship, he broke up with her and later began a relationship with the princess. This ducker
Jubelian killed herself with his father's dagger after she was accused of trying to kill the princess. Her father gave her the dagger on their way to Room of Shadows and only said 'Endure' despite Jubelian’s begging. She decided to end her life when she heard the crown prince demanded to see the person who tried to harm her sister. Because he had the reputation of enjoying torturing people, Jubelian decided to stab herself with the dagger despite the crown prince yelling her to stop. And that is how she died. In the original novel, of course, lol.
So our heroine transmigrated into Jubelian, and she will make all impossible to stay alive. The girl has an agenda, lol.
I absolutely loved our heroine. She was funny, intelligent, cunning, and determined to change the future to avoid death. I also enjoyed she broke up with Mikhail. ML or not, that man was poison.
I want to spoil more details about this novel so bad but will take the magic of it. I really applaud the WE team because they did a terrific job! And Heesu Hong author - I'm a huge fan of yours!! Thank you for agreeing to make available it for us ❤️
I picked this one up as I am reading the weekly updates of the manhwa which is one of my current favorites. When seeing this getting an official English translation I couldn't help myself from purchasing it.
Overall it's an enjoyable read, it has cheesy concepts but I like them and I had a good time while reading. However, I do have some complaints with the biggest one being "why did the first volume end there?" It ends in the middle of a scene, it's not a particularly good way to end a book and it's also not one that makes you want to keep reading, it's just jarring. If I hadn't read the mahwa I don't know if I would have felt inclined to keep reading it's just really strange.
I also HATE the title change? The original English translation is "Father I don't want this marriage" which is way preferable. Why must the word "Daddy" be in the title? They are really trying to make it embarrassing for me to have this on my shelves. The main character also always calls Legis father so it doesn't make sense.
I feel like the miscommunication and misunderstanding trope is worse in the novel format. In the mahwa it sort of flows along but in the novel there is more time to get annoyed by the characters. Jubelian is probably the most pessimist character I have ever encountered. She automatically assumes everyone is thinking the worst of her or that things are going to turn out bad. These are realistic thoughts to have at times BUT NOT ALL THE TIME. If she just dared to speak up and question people about their intentions once she wouldn't be in this mess. Literally everyone loves her and she is to dumb to realize. Bestie even killed herself in her past life just because she was to much of a pessimist, hard to watch.
Regardless of my complaints I still feel very passionately about this series and will absolutely stick to it. Can't wait to see what happens in the next one. It's such a quick, easy and fun read which is way more enjoyable than it should be.
I could not put this down, as soon as I started reading, I was too immersed and vibing with everything to put it down (except for when my tablet needed to charge.
I’m a big fan of reincarnated/reborn/restart Villainess stories and m always looking for new ones to read and enjoy.
The MC’s father somewhat reminds me of Jotaro due to his stoic attitude and how he doesn’t express his emotions/affection well to his daughter thus causing misunderstandings and a rift between them.
While he is trying his best to show he cares, but it’s a little difficult given the circumstances that I wish not to spoil.
I hope that the MC will soon realize that her father never truly despise her and in fact never did anything to really suggest that other than being cold sounding and a bit harsh in tone.
So hopefully that gets resolved and they can have a proper healthy father-daughter relationship.
Now for who I assume to be the main love interest Max, I enjoy their interactions and how he’s pretty much this I’ll-mannered rogue that is somewhat becoming caring despite him not wanting to involve himself with people out of fear of becoming weak (he believes that if you bound with someone they’ll become your weakness since you wouldn’t want harm to come upon your love ones) and to him it’s kind of proven when he sees how his master won’t do certain things that he normally would had it not have been for his daughter who he is concerned about greatly and fears for her safety like a father should.
Max and Jubul’s interactions are quite funny to me and I’m always looking forward to them, though I do think it’s a bit weird with how fast he becomes interested in her, but I won’t hold against the series because I love them together and it’s fun.
That’s all I can think of without spoiling anything, I can’t wait to read volume 2!
This book took the miscommunication trope and turned it on its head to make it something comedic and enjoyable compared to how it’s usually insufferable!! A feat, for sure.
“What was Father teaching him? Not manners”
Jubelian, within the isekai genre, has memories of the original story where she was imprisoned for impropriety on false pretenses. So she breaks up with the man who caused it all… Now, she fears angering her father despite the fact that she’s absolutely the apple of his eye. He just has a funny way of showing it!
It’s comedic, rife with misunderstandings that are bound to create an interesting situation. Jubelian’s changed demeanor has made her an enigma to those around her and newly interesting to those she hadn’t met. High society contains politics that her father is trying to shield her from, unsuccessfully.
Plus, the mysterious Max… somehow I didn’t see the twist around him coming, but it makes it all even more fascinating to watch. He who has never loved, experiencing it for the first time and being confused. One of my favorite tropes!
I’m having a great time with this. Will definitely be continuing and looking forward to see how Jubelian accidentally rises in the ranks without intending to.
Great start to a new series and a nice twist on the reincarnated plotline.
I liked how the characters do talk about how the lead is acting differently but they all come up with different reasons why. The 'villainess' being a loner is also something that isn't explored very much. But the father being secretly head over hills for his daughter is completely new and nice twist.
The main character isn't moving the plot her father is. I can't name a book I have read that takes this stance.
Loving the characters and hoping to get more backstory on everyone later. Her ex is moving into an even more unhealthy mindset as the book progressed...
Thank you to the reviews that talked about the cliffhanger. I didn't think it was that bad but I was forewarned so maybe that was why.
Can't wait to see if this series delivers on the promises it is hinting at. Sorry I'm being so vague but I feel like this book is better without the specific details I usually give.
Terrible, trite, and insipid. It's based off the trope of someone being reborn as a villainess from a game/book. The original villainess is spoiled and codependent. The reborn villainess is somewhat more detached but very foolish and completely unable to read other people's intensions. She is now afraid of her father rather than obsessed with seeking his approval. The reborn aspect is rarely mentioned as a throw away comment and seems to not be relevant to the plot. The main character of the game/book isn't mentioned at all. There's also a love plot but it's all so shallow and flimsy because it's based off of misunderstandings that no reasonable person would make. She also hides a prince in her room for days from her maids after his failed assassination attempt. Then he strangely is fascinated by her... Main character is a Mary Sue and just can't anymore. The characters are complete cardboard cutouts and have nothing that makes them unique. I just couldn't stand this book and didn't finish it.

The author must've infused drugs into their writing because I was addicted to this story the whole way through ( ToT ) It was a guilty pleasure, for sure.
Most isekai stories are predictable in almost every facet of the story, and while this one didn't deviate much from the expected path, it did boast a heroine the reader enjoys following, engaging in a situation that, while frustrating in its misunderstandings, still makes sense in the minds of all characters involved. What made the miscommunication less painful was getting POV paragraphs from multiple people throughout the story, giving a new view of the situation each time. It's still a story 100% driven by an ongoing lack of communication between characters, but I didn't find it as frustrating as I thought I might.
I hope to read the second volume as soon as my library gets a hold of it!
Even with the isekai trope that I have grown familiar with, I like it better than the others that I have seen. Probably because it is hilarious? And also because of the way the relationship between the main couple was built - wasn’t too forced or rushed or perhaps I am just biased. I really like how Max is written. He was shown earlier as an unfeeling tyrant (reminds me of The Mountain) but once he got to know Juvel, he just became a cute little cat. lol.
I may read the novel next since I am now invested with the story - and I also think that the exciting parts are yet to come
Worth the read. Looking forward for volume 2. After years of being ignored and received no affection from anyone, it no wonder the main female has her heart shielded and looking for ways to escape her sheltered life. The misunderstanding between the father and daughter was unavoidable. There is a little cliffhanger, but it is not so bad. I suspect in volume 2, a lot more background history will explain why her father, the Duke, actions towards his daughter are very different then the way he truly feels towards her.

genres: manhwa romance reincarnation ranking: love it, a book you’ll shove into everyone’s hands forever. 9/10
the first line: "Father! I swear! It wasn't me!"
notes: -- the keyword is "addictive" -- a ton of miscommunication, assumptions and jumping to conclusions -- there was love, character growth, adventure, politics, a huge dragon, magic relics, building trust and relationships, loss and grief, secrets, sacrifices
This webtoon style novel is addicting. I couldn’t put it down. I love that the story is about a girl falling into a fantasy story and how she turns around the main girl villain behavior into a sweet lovable person. The story does end on a to be continued. So you have to wait for the next volume to find out what happens.
It’s a clean Read!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Julelian is given another chance at life and is determined to change her fate. The society seems to be a blend of old and new but with older customs. The first book of this series has the relationship between Jubelian and Max being developed even if she is not aware of who Max really is. I look forward to the next installment.
This is a great take on Villainess reincarnation stories. The main character does what she can to survive thinking all this time that her father hates her, yet her father spends all his time trying to protect her and make her happy! Add a dash of jealous ex lover and a stoic undercover prince and you have this amazing beauty of a read.
The translation is a little stiff but I’m enjoying the story so far. If you’re a fan of iseka Korean light novels, this is a book for you. I’m a bit frustrated with the daughter/father relationship but it’s part of the story. She seems to yawn an awful lot too. Maybe it’s just me but the prince is kind of dumb. Good thing he a very good looking muscle head LOL.
Loved this story so much! There were some awkward translations the PR/QC should've picked up on (ie: Max sleeping under the bed, when he slept in the bed). But overall the flow was great, the story griping ( even though I've read the manwha), and such pretty cover art! Can't wait for the other books!!!!
it's a very funny and heartwarming story, has some very funny misunderstandings and some sad parts. I really liked the plot and characters. the plot had some very good isekai settings, and the characters all have a personality and they all play they're role in the story well. and most of all I really liked the romance and cute interactions. overall I give this a
I first was introduced to this novel from its manga/webcomic adaptation. Absolutely love the changed villainess and how she changes her fate. Her father is amazing. Leaves off on a major cliffhanger. Can't wait for volume 2.
I’m a big fan of the manhwa based off this novel—definitely a favorite of mine n this oversaturated historical-fantasy-reincarnation (otome isekai) genre. So obviously I had to give the novel a shot.
But to be honest, I was a little disappointed. The writing, the plot development, it’s all just so… light. Barebones, I guess? If I didn’t have the imagery in my head already from the comic, I would probably have a hard time following along from lack of detail and depth. The writing didn’t particularly stand out to me (although this may be because of the translation—I don’t know) and Jubelian comes off as a little annoying when I have to get inside her head and see the events of the novel from her point of view.
Still, I do know for certain that the story gets better later on—so I’ll definitely be picking up the next ones when I can. If you don’t mind silly misunderstandings, a dramatic but extremely attractive male lead, and *ahem* the hot father, it’s a good way as any to kill some time. But, I really wouldn’t recommend this as a starting point to the otome isekai genre.
I really enjoyed this novel , even though that it only goes up to chapter 5. It adds more information that lacking in the graphic novel I've read. I couldn't put it down with the interesting plot and it being easy to read through. I would recommend.
Okay I was a little skeptical reading this because of the title but once I read it was a Korean translated novel I had to give it a try. I love kdramas and I enjoyed this so much I went on to read the next two as well. It was so good, if you have ku give it a try.
