This one was so cute from the start. Steve was charming and Charlee just as much. I love how both of them bonded over the bistro and then later on the change of a dime they pivoted to the pub. It was fun with how excited they were at both concepts, but better was them realizing that what they thought they wanted wasn't quite right and they took a chance to change it.

I also loved the secret they found out while changing over concepts and how it was connected to Charlee. Wish we could see more of that.

Loved how the town turned out for opening day and later how Steve and Charlee spent their day off with the same idea.

Really cute but somehow I didn't connect as much. Still really addictive and I liked Charlee and Steve but it did not have the same pull if you get my drift. I thought they were completely bonkers for making their business plans that way. Completely bonkers. The sidestory with the letter was my personal highlight! I would have loved to know moooooooore!

After back to back 5 Star virtue books I loved and adored. This fell kinda flat. We are back to basic Zoe Chant. Cute bear shifter romance, which is fun but I feel like I’ve read it way too many times. I’ll leave my reviews for - Sealed with a Kiss and A Christmas Like No Otter so you can see why I love those.

Honestly, Steve’s bear was just too level headed and didn’t cause any shenanigans. The bear probably would have been more successful wooing Charlee earlier in this book than Steve was. For most people that is probably not actually a negative but I wanted the couple to get flustered or have a shock moment.

Both came to a new town (Virtue, NY), home of lots of shifters, for a new start in their career. Charlee wanted to escape a past that haunted her. . Steve hires her as his chef for his new bistro. He has to keep his mate in town so they grow to love one another. They fought their attraction for a while but succumbed. The bistro becomes a gastro pub and there is a cute side plot.

Very fun. I cannot wait to read about more Virtue shifters and their mates!

Apparently, I'm in another patch of my life where I just want my books to be safe, warm comfort hugs, and this one fit the bill perfectly.

Charlee wasn't my usual type of female lead. Her lack of confidence and distrust of everyone and everything made perfect sense, given her history, but at the same time, it's just not the kind of character I'm drawn to.

Steve, meanwhile, was 100% adorable, and pretty much the feminist ideal of a boyfriend.

And the low-conflict plot thread of setting up the restaurant was exactly the comfort read I seem to have needed.

I just wish there were more Virtue Shifters stories to go on to next!

Humor plus romance

I enjoyed all of the virtue books but this one was just a bit funnier . maybe because all the characters from previous books were there or maybe just because of the sense of tongue in check sense of humor in the bear And his human. Can't wait for the next one , the spoilers seem to be in the book for the next one. I'm on board for that!!!!

Charlee is a chef who's been trying to outrun her past. When she applies for the head chef position in the small town of Virtue, she thinks she may be able to do just that, but she doesn't expect to be so attracted to the owner. Steve is a bear shifter who wants to do something different than his family has which is why he's opening his new restaurant in Virtue. He hires Charlee on the spot because she's his mate, but he vows to give her some time. The more they work together, the more they learn that they belong together.

I've really enjoyed this series and this book was no exception. This sweet romance shows that even humans know when they've found their fated mates even if it's not as immediate as it is with shifters. This quick, well-written read is about finding that person meant to be your partner, the one who builds you up and helps you find yourself and your inner strength. This story pulled me in and kept me hooked from start to finish as I read it in one sitting. I'm very eager for the next book and hope it's about the couple whose story I want to hear. I highly recommend both book and series which I think is best read in order.

An adorable quirky swoony shifter story

Charlee and Steve are so adorable in their bumbling quirky goodness - I just loved them. Steve is a bear shifter who recently moved to the shifter friendly town of Virtue to open a bistro in a space that used to be a bar. Charlee applies for the job as head chef in the bistro. Steve realizes Charlee is his mate as soon as he sees her but telling her is complicated. This is where the bumbling adorable journey to their HEA starts. Instead of an instalove, immediate relationship for these fated mates, while the mate pull is there, Charlee and Steve’s relationship develops organically as they work to open the bistro. The book is fairly low angst and has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, a bit of steam, snort worthy laughs, cringe worthy moments, supportive townspeople, complicated families, painful pasts, a mystery, and lots of swoony love. The inner dialogues were a great element to move the story along and show the character growth as the dealt with their issues. I love the Virtue series.

So fun! Virtue is becoming one of my favorite Zoe Chant locations.

Steven moved to town when he bought the old bar, with intentions of turning it into a bristo. His family has a brewery, but he wants to prove he can elevate his establishment, and is in search of the perfect chef. Charlee has moved around quite a bit, do to something in her past. She sees the add for the chef job, and heads to Virtue to check the place out.

Steven knows as soon as he sees her that Charlee's the one. She's not a shifter, but his bear KNOWS. Steven is absolutely adorable, and the patience and teasing restraint is a welcome trait. Charlee slowly comes out of her fear, and learns to start trusting in herself. It's a wonderful relationship to watch bloom ... and their partnership with the bristo comes together, then morphs into so much more. There's a fun message in the wall mystery, that has yet to be resolved.

I can't wait for the next book!

I borrowed Houl My Bear ~ Virtue Shifters ~ Book 5, by Zoe Chant from the Kindle Unlimited Program on Amazon.

Chef Charlee Lind is looking for a place to start over when she comes to Virtue, New York and applies for a job at a new resturant. Steve Torben, the owner and bear shifter hires her during the interview and they work together to finish the old bars remodel for the soft opening.

They both decide to change it to a gastropub and remodeled the old bar bac to a new bar in seven days.
With the hel of the staff and Jake Rowley they opened for Monday Nigh Football and found a new adventure that they loved as a part of the community that was full of comfort with food served with love.

The solved a mystery with the help of Matt and Sarah from the library and Steve's respect and encouragement helped Charlee face her old fears and find a solution and new comfidence. Hold You Bear is a great shifter love story full of puns and laughter.

Bear Shifter Steven Torbin's family has many successful brewery pubs. He wants a new start here in Virtue and part of that is to create more of a bistro instead of a pub.

When he first meets Chef Charlee Lind, he knows she's his mate but she's also human. It also almost leads to an accident with a large sink on the way to a dumpster. Charlee sets out to impress him with her kitchen skills, which she does in spades.

Steve and Charlee work very hard to get everything ready to open on schedule. Then when they do although it's a success, people ready were expecting the pub atmosphere.

The shocking thing for both of them is that they weren't happy either. They proved what they set out to do, but deep down they both want what the town does.

Lots of fun, craziness, romance and sizzle.

2 new starts

They both wanted a new town and a new start in career. She felt at home when she came to town to look around and the same hawn to him. They hit it off together and worked hard on the bistro. He knew from the start she is his mate and knew she needed to trust him with her secret. the man has patience and understanding. They both fought hard their attraction. Then they changed the bistro , to a gastropub it finally felt right to them and their dream. They found a love letter gone to see Sarah at the library for her help on finding the lovers. Wow...it was her grandmother and her bf in high school. What a surprise.what I love about all this that they each planned to propose to each other with the same kind of ring.

Really enjoyable and I loved how it all paced out.
The connection between these two wasn’t an Insta lust/love set up, even though this is a shifter story, instead, Steve thought things through and did what was best for Charlee.
I thought her past was going to be something bigger than it was, though I can understand that it did cause major problems.
I thought the ex might have made an appearance and admitted his culpability but he didn’t unfortunately. I would have liked the case to be reopened and Charlee cleared of all charges.
Loved the hidden love letter part, great twist but so sad and yet wonderfully sweet.
Some silly errors made it through and in chapter 18, Steve goes upstairs to change clothes twice.

New Beginnings!

Steve and Charlee's story begins quietly enough. An unsuspecting, curvy, young chef applies for a job in Virtue, NY. The proprietor of the restaurant, bear shifter Steve, falls for Charlee immediately. Unaware of shifters and fated mates, Charlee is surprised at how quickly she is hired and how comfortable she is with Steve and Virtue. I really love the characters in this series. Steve and Charlee are strong, fun, hard-working and lovingly sarcastic in the way family and friends can be. The citizens of Virtue are kind, caring and welcoming. The storyline is heartwarming and entertaining. The HEA is very satisfying. Get a copy today and enjoy!

Charlee and Steve's Genetic Memory Tryst! 4***** Spoiler Alert!

Steve Torben, bear shifter/ new Virtue NY bistro to gastropub owner hired Charlee Lind as his chef, on the spot, as his future bear fated mate. She cooked, assisted him with his pub finances, cleared and closed her juvie record, revamped his menu, and found her grandma Lola/Charlotte old shifter lover, Sam Todd, from Vietnam draft times. HEA for all as they proposed to each other... So rad!!

Great loveable characters, with witty banter/dialogue that kept the reader engaged. The theme of being true to ones self/dreams courses through this novel. A Must-Read!

Typos are a bear, but the characters are amazeballs

Once again, the characters are engaging and the storyline mostly keeps flowing along nicely. There are a few stutters and some incongruous, red herrings that just never really get fully developed. There are characters from the community that we have met in previous books and it's fun to see them in this one.
There are some tantalizing teasers of things to come in other books as well.
Just beware the typos.
There were obviously some sections the author reworked and she doesn't always remember to delete or all the old phrases and words.

The Bear and His Chef.....

Charlee is a woman who is looking for a place where she can live and feel safe. Her past was really rough and she needed to find a new place to live and do what she did best, cook... Steve is a bear shifter and new to the town of Virtue. He wanted to open a bistro and needed to hire a chef. When he saw Charlee he knew she was his mate. Working together they opened the bistro but weren't happy with it. So they changed the bistro into a bar and everyone loved it. I definitely recommend this book as well as the whole series. I have really enjoyed every book so far.

I hate books that play “I’ve got a secret” and that’s what Charlee keeps doing with her past. Don’t tease us with it, either tell us, or don’t. Every time she mentioned this secret past that she wouldn’t even think about, I wanted to close the book and stop reading. I usually would for a little while because I would be too annoyed to keep reading. People don’t keep secrets in their own thoughts even if they want to, so if we are reading her thoughts we should get to know.

Other than that, I enjoyed the book. I expected the twist at the end, but not the person who was a part of it. I expected an epilogue to give a little of that story.

Holy crow, I gotta know! But, it’s 11:30pm, so I can’t start the next one right now, or I’m going to regret it so bad in the morning. Crap, crap, crappity, crap! If I was grandma I’d be so mad.

Trying SO hard to do this without spoilers!

The main story was sweet, the big ol’ teddy bear 🧸 was a complete cinnamon roll start to finish. This is definitely one of those series where she shifter guys (so far the guys have all been shifters, and the girls human) are not Alpha, bossypants, chest pounders. At. All. But, a secondary storyline was introduced, and I GOTTA KNOW!! You get your HEA, but they cliffhanger you with the other. 😳

The otter was still my favorite.

Sweet, low angst love story

There are guys who turn into bears in this story, but that's not important. What is important is that Charlee found the perfect boss, and the perfect guy for her. Somehow, she's also the perfect girl for Steve. And they get to build a perfect business together.

The relationship angst is all Charlee's less than spotless past and her initial reluctance to start a relationship with her boss. There is no violence. Her past is past.

I really love Virtue's secret surprises and little mysteries. There's one in this book, too.

Quick read about finding yourself and the one who believes in you

Charlee's looking for a fresh start and applies to the chef's position at Steven's soon to be gastropub. Steven is bowled over by both her skills as a chef and because she's his mate. Being human, she's unaware Virtue is a shifter town much less that she's his mate. As they labor together to get the restaurant up and running, they get to know each other. They complement each other well and once they explore their attraction find great sexual chemistry too.

Super cute story!

I stayed up way past my bedtime finishing this book! I must say my favorite thing about the shifters of virtue is their relationships with their animals. The author does a great job blending the personalities of the people and the animals and I can just totally see them in my mind! It’s nice to find books with just the right amount of tension to keep it from being too soft and not so much that you become frustrated with the characters and give up on the book.

A tale of Empowering Love

There are a lots of love stories on the market but not many of them are actually tales of empowering love. Charlee said it all when she told Steve that “People are always like 'I'll take care of you,' not 'I'll help you take care of yourself.'" when he said he’d do just that. That statement is so right. Not many authors can differentiate between the two either. It’s so nice to find one that can and that only one of the things that sets this book above others. I recommend you read the book and find the rest of those reasons out for yourself.

Another amazing mating from the quaint town of Virtue. Both our main characters are new to Virtue. Immediately Steve and Charlee hit it off. Each of them has a secret. Once they learn to trust one another, there will be no stopping them. They build a friendship, a business and a life together. The story has humor, romance and a bit of a side mystery. Loved it! I received an early copy and this is my honest opinion.

Stay with your gut feeling

So much work for Steve and Charlee to have their dream for a day, just long enough to realize it wasn't what they wanted long term. Sounded like what Steve's family did at the Renaissance fairs was mostly beers. They probably served a lot of similar foods at their home pub. But with Charlee's magic touch their gastropub food was a notch above so a nice compromise between bistro and gastropub. Wonder if grandma will come up again later.

Fabulous read!!!

This was such an amazing story. Charlee applied for a job in Virtue. Fell in love with the town and felt right at home. She got the job but was waiting for the other shoe to drop. Working out the kinks with the restaurant kept her busy, but not busy enough to keep her from falling in love with the boss! Fate works in mysterious ways. A sweet slow romance. Great short read with no cliffhanger and a HEA! What's not to love.

A Satisfying Read

I've been looking forward to this books since the end of book 2. I'm glad we get to know Steve some more and go on his and Cahrlee's business adventure. I also enjoy the mini mystery we get near the end.

It felt right and proper in the series, and we get to see Charlee and Steve become comfortable in Virtue's community that we've grown close to in earlier books.

A satisfying read.

I enjoyed Hold my Bear, it was cute and the perfect book for any hopeless romantic. Just enough corny love struck shenanigans and sexual tension, Steve and Charlee were adorable and worked so well together that changing every single plan about opening a bistro to opening a hometown bar hangout made perfect sense. Only down side of this book is we didn't see the reconnection of the long lost lovers! Only that it was going to happen sometime.

Great series

The fact that each shifter has an internal animal with whom they have many conversations about their fated mate can make interactions between the main characters.... awkward. Yes, try talking through a conversation with your opinionated alter ego.
This book has a strong rapport between the main characters from the very beginning. While the book is humorous, it is not as laugh out loud funny as earlier books.

I really liked this story and enjoyed the characters so much. The love story was very sweet and had some great moments of amusement. There was a familiarity with Virtue and some of the citizens that I realized at the end was because I'd read other books that took place there. I am hoping in the future there will be a story about Sam and Charlotte. I would also love to see stories about the brothers since this book kind of set that possibility up. Another great read by this author!
